Weaver states US Marshals were on his property to arrest him for failure to appear, but he had the wrong court date. Marshals shot his dog, and his son fired at them. His son was then shot in the back by marshals. A US Marshal was killed, possibly by friendly fire, but Weaver's stepson was blamed.
