A Mobile County woman was allegedly terrorized in her home by Elmer Amador, an alleged MS-13 gang member. Amador is accused of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree burglary. The Sheriff's Office reports that Amador, a Guatemala national, is in the country illegally and has a history of arrests for assault, indecent exposure, and DUI. The woman says Amador arrived at her home to drop off equipment and then inappropriately touched her. She says he grabbed her in a bear hug and whispered nasty things in her ear. She broke free and ran inside, locking herself in the bathroom, but Amador allegedly tried to get in. A deputy arrested Amador on the property. Sheriff Paul Birch stated that the situation could have been better if the woman had a firearm and used it. Birch says Amador has been avoiding a final deportation order for years.

The officers initially attempted to cover up their actions, and some could face life in prison. On January 24, the deputies raided a home in Braxton, Mississippi, after a white neighbor complained about Black men staying there. The officers entered without a warrant, handcuffed, beat, and tasered Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker. They also sexually abused them while shouting racial slurs. One officer put a gun in Jenkins' mouth, pulled the trigger in a mock execution, and the bullet lacerated Jenkins' tongue, broke his jaw, and exited through his neck. After the shooting, the officers allegedly gathered on the porch to discuss covering up the crime.

In August 2022, Adams County deputies raided the home of Joseph Foreman, better known as the rapper AfroMan, with a search warrant tied to an investigation into possible drugs and kidnapping victims. AfroMan says they didn’t charge him with any crimes and didn’t find large amounts of marijuana or any narcotics, nor were kidnapping victims found. Despite no charges, the raid resulted in thousands of dollars seized in cash, which was later returned, though AfroMan says about $400 was never recovered. The raid also caused damage throughout his home, and he says the department told him it was not responsible for paying for the repairs. AfroMan recalls a deputy laughing and saying, “we’re not required to do that,” and describes the deputies as unapologetic. AfroMan used his own security footage from the raids in a music video to raise money to pay for the damages sustained to his home. He states, “I got freedom of speech, and then I used my personal life to write my music. I was gonna clean my room, but then I got up. Will you help me repair my gate? Will you help me repair my door? I’m singing about what actually happened to me.” Deputies who appear in the video are now suing the rapper for the damages caused by their faces being in the videos. In response, AfroMan filed a countersuit for the damages to his home, but Judge Jonathan Hines dismissed those charges in February, saying they were “dismissed with the click of a mouse in some little office somewhere without a hearing.” AfroMan argues that the lawsuit violates his free speech rights as an American and as a working artist in the United States. He emphasizes his role as a working rapper who raps for a living and pays taxes “to America with rap money,” describing raw materials as life experience that fuels his music. The overall narrative centers on a raid without charges, financial loss and home damage, the use of raid footage in a music video, subsequent lawsuits over appearance in the video, and legal battles framing free speech and artistic expression in the aftermath.
