I am Sage's mother, Nana. Sage faced challenges with depression and anxiety during puberty and COVID. In high school, she identified as a boy named Draco and faced severe bullying. The school kept this information from me, and Sage experienced physical and emotional abuse. After running away, she was sex trafficked and brutally assaulted. When we finally found her, the court refused to acknowledge her trauma and insisted on using her new name and pronouns. Sage endured further abuse in a children's home and was pressured to have her breasts removed. With the help of a lawyer, she was discharged and is now receiving trauma care. Sage wants to share her story to protect other children from similar harm.

The reaction to having two trans kids is often one of shock. Before transitioning, I felt incomplete and was nervous about telling my parents. Being trans means feeling different from the gender assigned at birth. Recently, I started hormone blockers to prevent menstruation and breast development, which can be mentally challenging. People often question if I'm too young to know I'm trans, but I wonder if they are too young to know they're cis. Olivia identified as transgender from age 4 and socially transitioned at 5. Some think younger kids mimic older siblings, which made us hesitant about her transition, but this is who she is. Initially, I felt defensive about Olivia transitioning, thinking it was my experience, but I now see her as a girl, and she always will be.

Today is National Coming Out Day, and I'm excited to announce that I'm going back on testosterone. I loved being on it before, but needed to connect with my emotional body. I had to unwind trauma from being read as a man and sacrificing parts of myself. I now embrace my femininity and look forward to exploring it on a testosterone-dominant body. I'm Livo, and I underwent top surgery 9 months ago. Getting ready used to be a struggle for me due to dysphoria, often leading to meltdowns. However, things have changed now, and it has become my favorite part of the day. Top surgery has been my most significant act of self-care.

Here's my transgender daughter, Bella. She was assigned male at birth but now uses she/her pronouns. We're working on getting her medication to block male hormones. Bella is 14 and doing well in her transition. Being trapped in the wrong body affected her mental health, but with medication, we'll get through it together. We also received a grant to cover her transition costs, which is a huge relief. She can finally be who she truly is, which is all she's wanted for years, and we're so happy for her.

However, with Donald Trump and JD Vance gaining influence, I'm worried they'll prevent my child from getting the hormones she needs for her medical transition. Now, I fear Trump and Vance will block her access to the hormones she needs to become the woman she wants to be. This is fascism and a human rights violation.

In 8th grade, I talked to the principal about my daughter's depression and took her to the hospital after she overdosed on pills. Child Protective Services (CPS) got involved and my daughter was sent to an LGBTQ group without my knowledge. She started feeling like she was in the wrong body and her depression worsened. She went through medication, therapy, and surgeries, but it didn't help. She attempted suicide twice and eventually died by kneeling in front of a train. I asked to see something from her body, but there was nothing left. I believe she can see how hard I fought for her from heaven.
