I'm also happy to say that my administration is the most diverse one the state has ever seen.

And I want all of you just to know exactly where we are as far as our neighbors go. Minneapolis will continue to be a safe haven for undocumented immigrants, for our trans community. Regardless of who you are or where you come from, Minneapolis is a place where you should be proud to call home.

In Florida, out of over 800,000 students participating in high school athletics, there were 13 transgender high school athletes over 8 years before the ban. Alberta has recently joined Saskatchewan and New Brunswick in attacking the rights of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, particularly trans and gender diverse students. This is concerning because these students already face higher rates of suicide, homelessness, and involvement in the child welfare system. As the spokesperson for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, I have been proud to work with my colleagues across party lines to support the rights of trans and gender diverse students in our education system. The Wall Street Journal claims Governor Tim Walz signed initiatives allowing immigrants in the country illegally to apply for driver's licenses, qualify for free tuition at state universities, and enroll in the state's free healthcare program for low-income residents. The question is posed whether these initiatives act as magnets, drawing people to the state, and why Minnesota taxpayers should pay for these programs. The response states that Minnesota ranks as a top five business state, a top three state for children living there, and the top state for healthcare access. Minnesota also purportedly has some of the safest roads.

An 8 or 10 year old deciding to be transgender should face no discrimination. Many transgender women of color are being murdered, with the number possibly at 17 this year. Every daughter should have the same rights to be who they are.
