Tens of thousands of illegal aliens are already massed on the Mexican side of the border, ready to storm in. This mass resettlement of millions will be aided by the Biden administration. Congress should cut funding for catch and release and prevent taxpayer dollars from being used to release illegal aliens. We must fight to save our country from this invasion.

No great nation can be in a position where they can't control their borders. It matters how you control your borders. Not just for immigration, but it matters for drugs, terror, a whole range of other things. When I took office, I committed to fixing this broken immigration system and securing our borders. I'm shutting down the migrant facility at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan. Since 2023, this hotel has been the arrival center for migrants seeking asylum. When the hotel opened to migrants in 2023, we were receiving up to 4,000 migrants a week. In total, about 232,000 migrants have sought shelter in the city, with the Roosevelt Hotel serving as the front door for about 75% of them. Thanks to our policies, new arrivals are down to an average of about 350 each week. While we're not done caring for those already here, this marks progress in turning the corner on this unprecedented international humanitarian effort. We now need Congress to provide full funding for restoring our borders and to support the removal of record numbers of illegal aliens.

This partnership sends a powerful message of consequences for breaking laws, harming people, and endangering families, demonstrating there is somewhere to put the worst offenders.

It's amazing to me the hundreds of millions of dollars that have been spent by the federal government that has been sent to NGOs to facilitate this invasion of our country. I have taken action to stop that funding, to reevaluate it, and to make sure that we're actually using taxpayer dollars in a way that strengthens this country and keeps us safe. People are curious how grants given out by federal agencies are utilized, and that evaluation needs to be done. We're not spending another dime to help the destruction of this country. We're going to follow through on what president Trump promised, to secure our border, depart those who are here illegally and committing criminal actions, and ensure taxpayer dollars aren't spent to assist it. Speaker: And, Madam Secretary, I don't think people fully understand the role that NGOs play in facilitating illegal immigration. I want to share these numbers up on the screen: we spend over $380,000,000 in 2024 for sheltering and service programs for illegal immigrants. But the vast network of NGOs that help facilitate it through Panama, through Mexico, and make it a landing spot here in the United States is a massive contributor to illegal immigration. So what you're telling us today is that now stops? At least the federal funding of that stops? Secretary: Yes. The Department of Homeland Security has stopped spending those dollars to fund those NGOs. What’s been revealing is that many of these NGOs actually have infrastructure and operations set up in Mexico on that side of the border, telling illegal immigrants to come to them, and they will get them across the border. So they're not just operating in the United States. They're operating outside of the United States to help make it easier for those who want to break our laws. And while I was one of those Americans years ago when somebody said NGO to me, I thought, oh, that's amazing—a nonprofit telling somebody about Jesus or spreading faith and charitable work, helping people less fortunate. Then I realized over the years it's been perverted into this shadow government. An NGO is sometimes an operation that does things the government cannot do, can't legally do, so they create an entity to use government dollars, taxpayer dollars, to do something that the federal government isn't allowed to do—to perform a shadow government operation that has recently been used to undermine our country's national security.

Several planes have transported the "worst of the worst" criminals to Guantanamo Bay. These individuals, including murderers, rapists, and child traffickers, were removed from US streets. They're being held in facilities previously used for terrorist suspects, and will remain there until arrangements are made to return them to their home countries for further consequences. Due process is being followed for each individual. While tents with a 30,000-person capacity are being constructed, they aren't fully operational yet. Detention standards will remain consistent with other US facilities. We encourage those illegally in the country to return home voluntarily to avoid apprehension. Negotiations with other countries for repatriation are underway.
