I fully support the right to self-defense without any reservations. If I were a citizen of Palestine, Iraq, or Afghanistan, I would engage in violent resistance. And if I were a citizen of the United States or Great Britain and someone from another country came and started stealing my land and killing my family, guess what? I would also defend my country. I won't join the long list of shameful people who condemn terrorism while forgetting that the biggest terrorist on the planet is the United States government. But until then, I see no difference between Nelson Mandela and Hamas in refusing to accept apartheid or the Zionist state of Israel.

A Cuban family from the Fanhul group, who have not been back to Cuba for about fifty years, recently spoke with me. They want to visit Cuba again, and they’re not alone—many Cubans have said they would love to go back. The family largely comes from Cuba, and they’re curious about what might happen if they return. Gaza students study at Elam; the medical students declared, "we're the reason that America is calling Cuba terrorists." The brigade is international, with solidarity for Palestine, and the president speaks "like an organizer." They return with discipline and renewed resolve to support revolution worldwide.

On American soil, terrorists took the stage and trashed the country hosting them. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition was literally led by a Hamas operative. We're saying peace gets booed, but calling for jihad gets applause. We wanted to globalize the Intifada. This is not liberation. This is dangerous, and it needs to be stopped.

Palestine is our generation's South Africa. We must boldly and courageously end the imperialist project called Israel, or we are doomed. I had known about Palestine for a long time and was grateful when the Dream Defenders invited me to join their delegation. However, nothing could have prepared me for the intense militarization and violence we witnessed during our 10-day visit. People live in constant terror, and this experience has given me a clear understanding of why we must stand in solidarity with the Palestinians.

Donald Trump was working to bring peace between Iran and Israel, and Israel didn’t want that at all. They tried to murder the negotiators in that round of peace talks from Hamas in Doha, and they tried to tell the world that Trump signed off on this, that Trump knew, totally false. Trump did not know. Not only did they do this, they tried to implicate Trump in it. A couple of weeks later he responded with an executive order that I’m going to read verbatim because it’s bet not one in a hundred people knows this even happened. This was in September: he signed an executive order called the Assuring the Security of the State of Qatar. The order states: The United States and the State of Qatar have been bound together by close cooperation, shared interests, and the close relationship between our armed forces. The State of Qatar has hosted The United States forces, enabled critical security operations, and stood as a steadfast ally in pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity both in The Middle East and abroad, including as a mediator that has assisted The United States attempts to resolve significant regional and global conflicts. Listen: In recognition of this history and in light of the continuing threats to the state of Qatar posed by foreign aggression, it is the policy of The US to guarantee the security and territorial integrity of the state of Qatar against external attack. The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory sovereignty or critical infrastructure of the state of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of The United States. Oh, wait a second. What was the last act of foreign aggression against Qatar? What happened that exact same month? It was a bombing by Israel. So Israel bombs Qatar and Donald Trump issues an executive order saying if you do that again, reading by the language here, we’re going to war with you. Donald Trump took the side of Qatar over and above Israel and told Israel, and who knows if he’d actually do it, it’s in the executive order, If you do this again, that’s tantamount to an attack on us. That’s a security guarantee. Keep that in mind because there are a lot of Trump voters who are upset about nine eleven; the residue was still in their mouth. That part of the world did it to us. Islam did it to us. And anyone who wants to have a normal relationship with an Islamic country is probably pro Al Qaeda. I get it. I know those feelings. Had them. But here Donald Trump, the guy that you voted for taking Qatar’s side against Israel. Why is that? Because Donald Trump is a secret Islamist? No. Because Qatar is a lot better for The United States than Israel has been.

As an American Jew deeply involved in Judaism, I had a profound experience when I visited Palestinians in the West Bank. It reminded me of the Jim Crow South, witnessing people living without rights, citizenship, or freedom of movement. They endure a harsh military legal system. While I don't agree with Mifda, who supports violence, it's important to acknowledge what Ilhan Omar said: people should see the situation for themselves. I've never met anyone who hasn't been transformed by such an experience. It's similar to visiting SNCC during the civil rights movement and dismissing them based on connections or anti-white sentiments.

Coming from Cuba, I understand the value of freedom after losing it there. In 1975, hearing Jimmy Carter campaign for president reminded me of Fidel Castro, leading me to believe he was a communist. This realization sparked my interest in politics.
