I'm concerned about the optics of arresting someone flying a Union Jack. Think about the political implications for the nation. We don't want to incite a civil war by arresting an Englishman for flying his flag, especially when others seem to be supporting the October 7 attacks. Did the arrested man say any slogans? I can still speak to your prisoner and I've moved back.

I want to share with the people of Rhode Island what this investigation looks like, where we are today, and where we anticipate it moving forward. Last night, there were dozens of Providence police officers working in the command post to develop leads in this difficult case, both because of the campus tragedy and the challenge of developing evidence. Our prosecutors—six in total—were there, and our victim services folks were at the hospital. This is what these investigations look like: sometimes you head in one direction, then you regroup and go in another. That has happened over the last 24 hours or so. Collectively, the team developed leads in multiple areas. One lead was chased to ground, leading to the detainment of a person of interest. Those words reflect that there was some degree of evidence pointing to this individual, but that evidence needed to be corroborated and confirmed. Over the last 24 hours, leading into very recently, that evidence now points in a different direction. This means that this person of interest needs to be and should be released. It is unfortunate that this person’s name was leaked to the public, and it’s hard to put that back in the bottle. We will proceed very carefully here, because there is too much at stake for the victims of this horrific crime and their families to take chances with respect to this investigation. Going forward, our team of prosecutors will be working with the Providence Police Department as the principal leads in this investigation. Our resources will be amplified by the state police, the FBI, the ATF, the DEA, the Marshal Service, and others as we develop leads and move toward justice in this case. This could happen very quickly, but it could also take some time.

I I'd be interested to hear what the conversation was that led up to the shots being fired because that's to me, it's silly. Guys out here just doing a job and then gets harassed and ultimately, you know, shot by somebody not even involved.

In response to the events on Parnell Square, it's unfair to link crime with migration. Crimes can be committed by anyone, regardless of their background. The suspect in the incident was a long-term migrant, while the victims and those who intervened were also from migrant backgrounds. It's inaccurate to generalize about crime and migration based on this one incident.

When I was young, a family member involved in government tech stuff was found dead in his bathtub, ruled a suicide, but my family always doubted it due to difficulties getting answers. Seeing this case now, I'm getting flashbacks because I had a similar experience with a family member in the early '90s who encouraged my family to invest in the internet. He started getting freaked out, then died mysteriously, ruled a suicide. This reminds me of my own situation. People constantly ask me how I'm still alive. It's because of my family member's fate that I even got into internet stuff.

I went on TV to talk about grooming gangs in Telford, and police suddenly showed up at my door, claiming it was their duty to follow up. They had done nothing about the abuse for decades but decided to intimidate me after my interview. They said they were trying to make a difference, but it seemed like they were targeting a victim instead of the perpetrators. It's pathetic that criticizing them on TV drove them into action. I have no idea who ordered this "raid."

I want to clarify that I am not associated with the recent crash in DC, and it's disrespectful to link this tragedy to any political agenda. The families affected deserve better, and I hope my well-being puts an end to the rumors. Additionally, the Department of Defense handles casualty notifications, and I confirm that no Virginia National Guard personnel were involved in the Blackhawk that collided with the jetliner on Wednesday evening. Thank you.

I've been in contact with the commissioner and deputy, and it's important to note that the police are working hard. While it's possible to be angry about the situation in Israel and Gaza, it's not acceptable to be anti-Semitic or racist. Jewish Londoners will see increased police presence in their communities, synagogues, and schools to ensure safety and take action against any hate crimes. We must understand that this criminal behavior creates fear among Jewish Londoners and across the country. It's crucial not to bring conflicts from thousands of miles away to our capital city.

I find the case of Detective Bruce intriguing from a professional perspective as a former police officer. He is charged with launching an unauthorized investigation, which is something I have never encountered in my 45 years in law enforcement. During my 15 years with the Toronto Police, I never sought permission to investigate; I would request assistance or resources, but not permission. Law enforcement officers are designed to operate independently under the law and their oath of office. This structure is in place to prevent outside influences from interfering with police work.

I extend my condolences and thoughts and prayers to the families affected by these actions. The mayor stated that we have detained someone of interest, but I respect them to protect the integrity of the investigation. The next process for us is what we do best in our detectives: to coordinate with the prosecutors, to collect evidence, to conduct interviews, and then, from there, when it is appropriate and accurate, to share more details with you all. I’m pleased to say that the mayor stated the collaboration between our federal partners, our different municipalities in the state is all hands on deck. When this is in the city that’s shaken the conscience, we know for a fact that we just step up. And the federal agents, our federal partners, I want to thank them for their assistance, but as well every single municipality, the state police and every other chief in the state. We came together as a small state. It impacted a lot of us, the incident that occurred. And so again, I’m just happy to share with you that we’re in the process now of coordinating with prosecution, conducting interviews and being able to collect evidence so that we can protect the integrity of the investigation and that we can hold the individuals accountable for their actions.

Social media and journalism can misrepresent the circumstances surrounding an event, and the post seen does not depict the entire incident. What often happens is that social media and mainstream media commentary distort content, which makes it harder to thoroughly investigate the activity and enforce the law. A single post or coverage item can present one side of the story without context, leading to people rushing to conclusions and the narrative “growing legs” that the investigation then has to manage. Speaker 1 asked where the nearest officers were. Speaker 0 answered that in the central business section they were working; both were in vehicles and had to maneuver through traffic. Regarding what exactly was distorted, Speaker 0 explained that social media irresponsibility frequently shows one side of the equation without factual context, and then people run with that, causing the issue to grow larger and become more difficult to manage as part of the investigation.

I have 30 years of experience in law enforcement, dealing with various situations like capturing homicide suspects and handling barricade situations. This incident was completely avoidable and mishandled right from the start. There were multiple chances to prevent it, but unfortunately, they were not taken. My main concern is the well-being of my fellow officers, who had to go through this unnecessary ordeal. It is disheartening that there was never an opportunity to stop this unfortunate chain of events.

reSee.it Podcast Summary
Brad White, a detective and officer with twenty years on the Los Angeles Police Department, describes a career that began at twenty-one with a full uniform, shotgun, and pistol, and a rush of adrenaline rather than fear. He explains the early learning curve: “you walk up to something... you have no idea what you're walking up to,” and the expectation that you know what to do in any scenario. He recalls witnessing violence and death, including the first time he saw a person die after a chase, plus CPR at drownings and a child’s death, underscoring how rendering aid carries civil liability risk. He speaks frankly about mental health, insisting that “the number one killer cops is suicide” and noting the academy taught life-saving skills but not mental health. He reflects on the Rodney King era, the rise of social media, and public expectations, stressing that good officers exist across communities and that demonizing all cops is not accurate. White advocates a balance in gun policy, saying: “we need more guns in good people’s hands,” and he supports concealed carry, while acknowledging California’s tougher CCW process. He discusses how high-risk confrontations unfold, where a suspect resists and an officer must stop a threat, and he cautions against simplistic judgments about proportionality and risk. He argues for trained security in public spaces, including private stores, and he mentions the possibility of robots in extreme scenarios, clarifying that any plan would be highly constrained. He shares vivid drug stories from narcotics work: a naked man in a busy intersection on PCP, heroin balloons retrieved from a body, a keistered racquetball with drugs, and a Coke bottle with suction issues, plus the hazards of meth-fueled encounters and park sex scenes. He notes homelessness policy and the way reforms can complicate practical policing. He discusses homicide work: notifying families of deaths, the emotional toll, and why homicide rarely yields lasting satisfaction beyond justice; the need for mental-health support for officers. He closes with the idea that his path into policing began by chance while coaching a youth team, and that, despite the toll, he would choose the job again, hoping listeners gain a clearer sense of the reality behind the badge.
