I've been fortunate as vice president to see people of all ages and genders realize that being the first at something shows they don't have to be limited by others' narrow views of what is possible.

I grew up as the only Indian family in a small southern town and faced daily teasing for being brown. I have a record of standing up against racism, such as advocating for body cameras after Walter Scott's shooting and calling for the removal of the Confederate flag after the Mother Emanuel Church shooting. I take pride in having friends from different races. I faced discrimination when I was disqualified from a beauty pageant because they didn't know where to place me. I understand the pain of racism and fight against it every day. If I didn't mention slavery, it's because it's a well-known part of the Civil War.

I felt immense pride watching her get confirmed to the senate, knowing she would inspire young black women across America. Uniting our allies and changing our economic approach to focus on ordinary people were top priorities. I made a determined trip to Kyiv to show unwavering support for Ukraine against Russian aggression. The infrastructure law aims to rebuild America for everyone, benefiting both red and blue states. I'm committed to combating climate change, securing a sustainable future for the next generation. The PACT Act ensures we care for our veterans, and I was moved to help families affected by toxic exposure, including my own. Bringing computer chip manufacturing back to America will create jobs and boost economic growth. Supporting unions is crucial to strengthening the middle class, and I'm proud to be a pro-union president. Reuniting families, like bringing home those unjustly detained in Russia, is deeply important. America is a nation of possibilities, and we must never give up on that ideal.

Our embassies were in Kenya and Tanzania. It's great to be back in Missouri, Ghana, Guinea, and Nambia. Thank you to the Minneapolis police and Venezuela. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we acknowledge Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court, appointed by Joe Biden, who aimed to follow in Jimmy Carter's footsteps by appointing more women and Black women to federal judgeships. General Brown, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, may also be present, though it's hard to confirm. I did see Jim Clyburn here.

I appreciate Joe Biden and everything he has done. As an immigrant in the United States, I strive to be a good person and have a better life. America is known for being a land of opportunity.

Thanks to my parents' hard work, we were able to move to the United States. At 26, I arrived and it was a dream come true. But I wanted more—I wanted to be a citizen. As an immigrant and an independent woman, I appreciate the privilege of living here and the opportunities it offers. As first lady, I've witnessed the American dream come true countless times.

At 21 years old, I walked into the Senate chamber and got arrested. Later, I tried to see Nelson Mandela in South Africa and got arrested again. I even met him once. The campaign says I wasn't arrested, but I couldn't move and was stopped by the cops. I didn't experience the struggles of historical figures like Douglass, Tubman, King, Lewis, Goodman, Chaney, and Swerner, but I walked my own path.

It was an honor to be recognized and remember my daughter. It was cowardly that many Democrats didn't stand or clap to support President Trump's efforts to improve the country. Their behavior was shameful. They don't stand for humane values, our security, or honorable principles. It's disgraceful to have such people in Congress. I've met President Trump several times, and he's always been caring and compassionate. I've received no contact or acknowledgment from the Biden-Harris administration. The pain of losing my daughter never goes away, but my faith in Christ is helping me through it.
