Families are struggling with increased mortgage payments and grocery bills. Justin Trudeau has been neglecting these issues, favoring corporations over working people. Our efforts led to $1 billion for affordable housing and indigenous communities, as well as a framework for single-payer pharmacare. With just 25 NDP MPs, millions will benefit from free birth control, diabetes medication, and medical devices. Imagine the possibilities with a federal NDP government.

Today, we're announcing our intention to seek a waiver to implement a Medicaid work requirement. Currently, 220,000 able-bodied adults in Arkansas benefit from this program, costing over $2.2 billion annually. Notably, around 90,000 of these recipients are unemployed, while many hardworking Arkansans pay for their own health insurance.

States’ rights are under siege, federal preemption is at issue, corporate liability shields are a focal point, and there are fiscal risks embedded in the 2026 farm bill. If you have not completed it, please complete it ASAP and promote it because Congress is going to be doing the markup of the farm bill starting today, I believe, at 5 PM Eastern Time. Markups usually last three days, and there is a lot to go through. This action focuses specifically on getting rid of the liability shield. But if you read Elizabeth Kucinich’s Substack, you’ll see there’s so much more that is horrible about this bill. There is so much that is happening. I even had some people from the EMR community reach out to me speaking specifically about problems around different smart technologies that were in the farm bill too. It’s a monster. So I’m going to be meeting with my team today, to see if we might be able to get out another action alert about this tomorrow, but at least complete the liability shield side of this. In 2019, I learned about Washington state's human composting initiative, which disturbed me due to the potential for human bone fragments in compost. My goal is to prevent this from entering the food supply. During a food show, contestants were told that cannibalism is illegal in Idaho, but it’s not illegal to unknowingly serve human remains to others. This bill aims to close that loophole. I propose including language about flesh, blood, bones, and organs to ensure comprehensive coverage. My hope is to address this issue incrementally, starting with this legislation and potentially expanding it in the future.

A lot of Americans' money has been stolen through fraud and improper payments. In one of my first hearings, we discovered criminals using social security numbers of dead people or people over 115 years old to get small business loans and steal money from federal programs. We need to work to fix these issues in our legislation, budgets, and appropriations. This is a bipartisan issue; we're addressing money being fraudulently used and stolen. The American people are being robbed blind through improper payments, fraud, and outdated systems. Some federal agencies hire third-party vendors to hold data instead of communicating within the government. We are currently $36 trillion in debt, and we can't afford to keep losing money this way.
