But after close to a year of campaigning by Emmanuela's family, the Vatican finally agreed to exhume the tombs. Aft. However, the hunt began in July 2019. Any remains found during the hunt would be subjected to DNA testing, the findings of which reportedly take weeks to come in. Pietro believed that the exhumation signaled a change in the Vatican's attitude. The Teutonic cemetery tombs were actually found to be totally vacant. Strangely, none of the 2 princesses who were said to be buried there had any relics in the crypts. Apps. Pietro, though, continues to hold out hope that Emanuela will someday be discovered alive. He is still anticipating his sister's return.
