It soon became known as the flower massacre, one of the single biggest mass casualty events of this conflict. But a CNN investigation found the IDF's version of events doesn't quite hold up. Combing through videos of that night, collecting evidence from 22 eyewitnesses, we found evidence that the gunfire started earlier than they had claimed. The IDF say the convoy crossed into northern Gaza at 4:29 AM, and only after that did the soldiers open fire at so called suspects who approached them. Yeah. But in this video filmed at 4:22 AM, 7 minutes earlier, you can see people running as gunfire rings out in the background. The person filming warns there is a tank. Next, in a video filmed at 4:28 AM, there is a barrage of gunfire, then a blast. Weapons experts told CNN the bursts indicate heavy automatic fire at 600 rounds per minute. Then 2 minutes later at 4:30 AM, it's dark, but we can see 1 of the aid trucks pass along the road, and we spotted traces from the gunfire here.
