Asked about the six-foot distance, he said, 'it just sort of appeared and then they went with it.' On masks, 'there was really no scientific data, no no study behind it.' 'One point two million Americans lost their lives.' Regarding origins, NIH grants went to EcoHealth Alliance for gain-of-function research in China; Fauci said, 'when they weren't doing the reporting back to NIH... there was no oversight coming in saying we want your reports per se.' He added, 'that's not my lane. That's over in compliance.' He claimed he wouldn't know how to oversee a foreign lab and acknowledged discussion of a lab leak as a theory, not a conspiracy. On schools, 'the mandates were a bad idea overall,' with 'no scientific data behind it.' He stated he had said 'I don't recall' many times; the public messaging should rely on doctors treating COVID patients, not politicians.

Speaker 0: I want to go through what you learned from doctor Fauci piece by piece. When he was asked about where the idea about six feet distance came from, what did he say? Speaker 1: He said it just sort of appeared and then they went with it. So you can see that there's not a real good process. We asked the same question about masks. He said, well, there was really no scientific data, no no study behind it. We just kinda put that out there. Look. Doctor Fauci was the face of the pandemic for America. One point two million Americans lost their lives. We're going through a process of what decisions they made and why they made their decisions. But you look into the origins of COVID, there were grants being distributed by NIH with taxpayer dollars to a company called EcoHealth Alliance to do research in China, gain of function research, and most people are familiar with that term. There's virtually no oversight over that. Doctor Fauci said, well, when they put in their request for a research grant, a board looks at it, and once they look at it, then I just sign off on it, and I'm done. When they weren't doing the reporting back to NIH about what they were doing, There was no oversight coming in saying we want your reports per se. Doctor Fauci said, well, that's not my lane. That's over in compliance. So the process is is terrible when you when you take a look at this. And then we asked about oversight of foreign labs. Does NIH have any oversight over the bio security of a foreign lab? He said, I wouldn't even know how to do that. When everyone was saying what they're doing in China is a lab that wasn't safe, it should have been in a higher level. All the scientists have been saying that. So, you need to talk about a lab leak, theory. Now, doctor Fauci is saying that he doesn't think that's a conspiracy theory. Speaker 0: Wow. Okay. That's a lot in one big answer. Let me let me just slow it down a little bit. You asked him about wearing masks, what was his answer as to where that came from? Speaker 1: Well, where it came from is basically they thought that that would be a good idea, but remember he said it won't make a difference, and then he started mandating it, and that's the problem. The mandates were a a bad idea overall, but he admitted that there was no scientific data behind it. Look, Americans wanna be educated, and that's not what was taking place there. Speaker 0: Doesn't seem like there was any data behind any of his answers. What did he tell you about closing schools and the impact that would have on kids? Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I can tell you that over a 100 times even on the first day, he said he didn't recall. He he does recognize now that it was a terrible impact on kids, but he didn't address that. So he shouldn't have been the spokesperson on everything that was taking place. He seemed to say, well, that's in somebody else's lane, but then why was he the one out there talking about it? Look, the teachers union wanted six feet, you know, in that in that regard, that means they don't have to teach because there's no way you can keep your kids six feet apart. Is it Speaker 0: true that he said I don't remember a 100 times? Speaker 1: Just on the very first day. He said it more times on the second day. So, you know, the the messaging has been terrible. We need a process where America can trust our public health officials and understand they're getting the true story. Look. I said early on, even under the Trump administration, America needed to hear from the doctors treating COVID patients, not the politician and not the person in the lab, but the ones that are really have boots on the ground and are studying in all this.

The final report from the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic provides a comprehensive review of COVID-19, highlighting accountability and future preparedness. It identifies a lab-related incident in China as the likely origin and critiques the federal and state governments for poor coordination and oversight of relief funds. The report argues that policies neglected vulnerable populations, vaccine mandates infringed on freedoms, and school closures led to significant learning loss. It also notes the economic fallout, with over 160,000 businesses closing permanently and high unemployment rates.

Dr. Fauci's testimony revealed key points: social distancing was arbitrary, no evidence for masking children, support for travel restrictions, concerns about vaccine mandates, acknowledgment of lab leak theory, playing with definitions of gain-of-function research, potential conflicts of interest, lack of oversight in grant approval process, and feigned ignorance on various issues. Additional transcripts from interviews with public health officials were also released.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

🚨DR. FAUCI TRANSCRIPT RELEASE🚨 Today, @COVIDSelect released the transcript from Dr. Anthony Fauci's two-day, 14-hour transcribed interview. On Monday, Dr. Fauci will testify publicly for the first time since retirement. Key takeaways from his closed-door testimony🧵👇

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️SOCIAL DISTANCING: The “6 feet apart” social distancing recommendation forced on Americans by federal health officials was arbitrary and not based on science. Dr. Fauci testified that this guidance “sort of just appeared.”

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️MASKING: Dr. Fauci testified that he did not recall any supporting evidence for masking children. Mask-wearing has been associated with severe learning loss and speech development issues in America’s children.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS: Dr. Fauci unequivocally agreed with EVERY travel restriction issued by the Trump Administration at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️VACCINE MANDATES: Dr. Fauci admitted that vaccine mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic could increase vaccine hesitancy in the future. He also claimed that these mandates were not sufficiently studied.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️LAB LEAK THEORY: Dr. Fauci acknowledged that the lab leak hypothesis is not a conspiracy theory. This comes roughly four years after he prompted the publication of “Proximal Origin” — a paper which attempted to vilify and disprove the lab leak hypothesis.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️GAIN-OF-FUNCTION RESEARCH: Dr. Fauci repeatedly played semantics with the definition of “gain-of-function” research. This appears to be an effort to avoid conceding that the NIH funded this dangerous research in China.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: Dr. Fauci claimed his staff had no conflicts of interest regarding the origins of COVID-19. Yet, his Senior Advisor was “best-friends” with the disgraced President of EcoHealth Alliance. It is highly unlikely Dr. Fauci was unaware of this relationship.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️GRANT APPROVAL PROCESS: Dr. Fauci testified that he signed off on every foreign and domestic NIAID grant without reviewing the proposals. He was also unable to confirm if NIAID has ANY mechanisms to conduct oversight of the foreign labs they fund.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

✔️FEIGNED IGNORANCE: Dr. Fauci claimed he “did not recall” numerous issues & events surrounding the pandemic more than 100 times. For example, Dr. Fauci testified that he did not recall details about EcoHealth Alliance's controversial grant, which operated under his jurisdiction.

EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak will testify at a public hearing regarding COVID-19 origins and his relationship with the Wuhan Institute of Virology. There are concerns about dangerous gain-of-function research funded by taxpayer dollars. Evidence suggests that COVID-19 may have originated from a Wuhan lab. Dr. Daszak's closed-door interview with Congress raised questions about his honesty. Lying to Congress is a federal crime, and the public expects Dr. Daszak to be forthcoming during the public hearing. The truth about the origins of COVID-19 is important for the families who lost loved ones.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

🚨BREAKING🚨 EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak will testify at a public hearing on May 1, 2024. Dr. Daszak must answer questions about COVID-19 origins, dangerous gain-of-function research, and his relationship with the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

Dr. Daszak and his colleagues at the Wuhan Institute of Virology used taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research. Mounting evidence continues to show that COVID likely originated from a Wuhan lab. Ironically, @EcoHealthNYC's mission is to prevent pandemics.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

During his closed-door transcribed interview on November 14, 2023, Dr. Daszak appears to have lied to Congress. Dr. Daszak made numerous claims that were inconsistent with documents and evidence reviewed by @COVIDSelect, @GOPoversight, and @HouseCommerce.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

Lying to Congress is a federal crime. Dr. Daszak was reminded of this before his interview began. Still, he proceeded to directly contradict previously uncovered evidence about his relationship with the Wuhan Institute of Virology & his oversight of gain-of-function research.

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

We urge Dr. Daszak to be more forthcoming and honest during his public hearing than he was during his private interview. The more than one million American families who lost loved ones during COVID-19 deserve the truth about how this deadly crisis began.

The select subcommittee is examining the future of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States' relationship with it. The WHO, known for its role in eradicating smallpox and reducing polio cases, failed to serve all members equally during the COVID-19 pandemic. It prioritized politics over global public health, ignoring facts and echoing Chinese government statements. The WHO's lack of independent investigation allowed the pandemic to worsen. Reforms are needed to ensure transparency, verifiability, and accountability. The WHO should not be influenced by politics and must hold its members accountable. The United States should set the standard for best practices and ensure American interests are protected in any new international health regulations. The goal is to strengthen the WHO for the future.

Speaker 0: Today, the select subcommittee is holding a hearing to examine the future of the World Health Organization and our relationship as the United States with the WHO, the World Health Organization is supposed to be the preeminent organization that governs just that, the world's health. Played a key role in eradicating smallpox and significantly reducing the cases of polio around the globe. Yet when the world was faced with the outbreak of COVID-nineteen, the pandemic, we saw that the WHO does not always serve all of its members equally. We saw it's not an organization that serves all of humankind, but instead perhaps an organization that became beholden to or entrapped in politics. When it was most essential that the WHO be able to step up and help everyone, it seems to have bowed to political affiliations over global public health. When the WHO should have been conducting independent investigations into the origins of COVID nineteen, and presenting the global community with verified information to help keep them safe, we instead saw that they ignored some facts and parroted back statements that came from the Chinese Communist Party. We saw the WHO deny that COVID nineteen was spread via human to human transmission based entirely on the word of the Chinese government. The WHO delayed naming COVID-nineteen a public health emergency of international concern, a World Health Organization procedure that, amongst other things, would have allowed for the procurement and distribution of scarce supplies, all because the Chinese Communist Party told them the spread was under control. The WHO delayed serious measures to counter the global spread of COVID-nineteen Yeen, because the CCP was only worried about their own bottom line. When the WHO produced a report evaluating the possible origins of COVID nineteen, it became unquestionably evident that the entire report was nothing or but Chinese propaganda. Even doctor Fauci was worried about the report stating there was a lot of restrictions on the ability of the people who went there to really take a look. I have some considerable concerns about that. The CCP was so entrenched in influencing the WHO's investigation into the origins of COVID that they even contacted me. With unanimous consent, I wish to submit for the record an email sent to me by the Chinese Embassy. The order. This email from the Chinese Embassy is another attempt to interfere with the investigations of COVID. The letter stated, we express our grave concern regarding the COVID-nineteen origins hearing. We firmly oppose it. This kind of communication and action hardly expresses a clear conscience. The WHO's lack of independent investigation potentially allowed the beginning of the pandemic to be worse and spread further than it could have been. All in all, we saw the WHO more influenced by politics than public health, not necessarily their fault. There's no denying it. The WHO stumbled out of the gate. The subcommittee is as much about looking back as it is looking forward in preparing for the future, we must be better prepared when the next pandemic surfaces, and the scientifically focused WHO is paramount to that. It's evident the WHO is in need of some reform. It. So why not take an opportunity to ask the very people who are in the trenches how we can help them? Why not ask direct sources what we can do right now to equip future generations. Should there be an independent body that is able to conduct oversight? How can the ideal methods of data sharing and development be implemented across the world. What we do know is that the WHO needs to be reestablished with raised expectations of transparency, verifiability, an accountability, accountability amongst its members as well. Running any public health organization in a political manner destroys the organization's credibility. The WHO needs to police its members and not cower behind bullies. The WHO should have been in a position to tell the world that China was lying if they were lying. The fact that it didn't do so until later is very telling. Honesty is always non negotiable, especially during a once in a generation public health emergency. The WHO is currently drafting a new pandemic accord and new international health regulations that will apply to all its members. These changes must ensure American interests are protected. They must not violate international sovereignty, and they must hold China and others accountable. Further, any accord or treaty must be presented to Congress for approval. Anything else is wholly insufficient, especially in the minds of the American people. Let's use this opportunity to ensure that the WHO can actually protect the world's global health and not just the political interests of a few of its members. The United States should be setting the gold standard in incentivizing best practices. And we should be doing everything we can to force the WHO to listen to American interests. Nothing is more important than global public health, improperly forming the WHO is the first step to that protection so that our officials and our providers can better care for our citizens and establish best practices, not only for here, but perhaps around the world. We're holding this hearing to look at the current circumstances surrounding the WHO and see how we can make it better and stronger for the future.

Thankfully, Dr. Fauci’s retirement from public service does not shield him from Congressional oversight nor accountability to the American people. Let’s take a look back at a few of his most egregious pandemic-era failures🧵👇

@COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

Dr. Fauci prompted the drafting of the now infamous “Proximal Origin” publication in an attempt to disprove the COVID-19 lab leak theory. Then, he cited "Proximal Origin" from the White House and slid the paper to members of the press. Big corporations like Amazon and Facebook will also mandate vaccinations for employment. It has been shown that when obstacles are placed in people's lives, they abandon their ideological beliefs and choose to get vaccinated.

That's one of the big problems, though. You don't know really who to trust. You hear this information. You don't know what's fact and what's fiction. Because so many of these individuals have proven themselves not to have your best interests at heart, like Saint Fauci. Now this newly resurfaced interview reveals what he really wanted out of all those COVID mandates. @COVIDSelect - Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic

.@RepJamesComer: “The mask guidance was not scientifically sound?” Dr. Tracy Hoeg: “Correct. It wasn't science based and the six feet of distancing was arbitrary.”

Video Transcript AI Summary
The speaker questions the effectiveness of universal masking and 6 feet of physical distancing in schools. They argue that there is no new high-quality evidence during the pandemic to support the use of masks as a mitigation strategy. Observational studies, including those published by the CDC, are flawed and do not provide evidence for masking children. The speaker also criticizes the arbitrary nature of the 6 feet distancing rule, stating that there is no correlation between distancing measures and case rates in schools. They believe that these non-evidence-based strategies have harmed children and that schools should have remained open without them.

Speaker 0: That document that I've referred to recommended schools require the universal masking with children and 6 feet of physical distancing, were those necessary to keep schools open? Speaker 1: So we we had evidence prior to the pandemic that masks We're, largely ineffective at preventing, community transmission, of influenza and other upper respiratory viruses. And we did not Obtain any new, high quality evidence during, the COVID nineteen pandemic that masks are effective mitigation strategy in schools or outside of schools. We have a number of confounded observational studies, many of which were actually published by the CDC, that have serious flaws in them that I think unfortunately led people to believe that masking children was going to be and actually necessary to keep children in schools. But the highest quality data that we have, for example, from, a Cochrane review of randomized studies has not Found evidence of masks. Speaker 0: So that wasn't scientifically said. Effective The mask guidance was Speaker 1: not science based. And the six feet of distancing has was arbitrary. You know, that was based on, basically just looking at how, on that COVID nineteen was predominantly aerosolized in airborne transmission. So we we ended up getting some pretty good observational data not Finding correlation between amount of distancing, 6 versus 3 feet, and, case count case rates in schools. So it wasn't necessary, and it wasn't evidence based. We should have, by default, been keeping our schools open, but instead, we were sort of requiring these non evidence based mitigation strategies, as a prerequisite for getting our children back in school that ended up being very, harmful prerequisite.
