I remind you that your Sergeant at Arms repeatedly denied my requests for National Guard before and on January 6, including over 70 minutes on Jan 6 while he escalated for approval. The Pentagon offered National Guard, but I declined because your SAA would not grant me the legal authority required under 2 U.S.C. §1970.

@ChiefSund - Chief Steven Sund

@SpeakerPelosi- Ma'am, let me help refresh your memory. It was your Sergeant at Arms (SAA) who repeatedly denied my multiple requests for National Guard assistance before and on January 6. Even on Jan 6, your Sergeant at Arms denied my urgent requests for over 70 minutes, while he was “running it up the chain” for your approval. The Pentagon offered National Guard assistance, but I had to decline because your SAA would not grant me the legal authority as required under federal law (2 U.S.C. §1970). @StephenM @RepLoudermilk @SpeakerJohnson

I made 11 urgent calls for National Guard support on Jan 6, starting at 12:58 PM. Approval was delayed for 71 minutes by the House Sergeant at Arms, who reported to Speaker Pelosi. She caused critical delays and is now shifting blame to @realDonaldTrump for the failures she contributed to. The record is clear.

The speaker thanks Congressman Gomez and associates themselves with previous remarks. They state the president said he can't send in the National Guard without the governor's agreement, but also questioned if he has to obey the Constitution. They urge everyone to read Article 10, which states the National Guard cannot be called up by the president without the governor's consent, which is the basis of California's lawsuit. The speaker claims people are being deported for obeying the law by reporting in regularly while awaiting resolution of their immigration status. They believe this is a distraction. They caution that anarchists exploit large gatherings. The speaker notes that after the January 6th violence, the president refused to send in the National Guard despite requests, and now, in a "contra constitutional way," he has sent the National Guard into California. They find his actions inconsistent and a violation of the Constitution.

Speaker 0: Thank you, congressman Gomez, for putting this letter together and bringing us together this morning. I listened in traffic. Mind you, for whatever they had planned for the weekend, they had blocked off a whole lane of tracks. So it it took what takes eight minutes took a half an hour to get here. Happy birthday to you too. But in any event, the thank you. And I I could hear by my staff's phone what others have said, and I associate myself with their remarks. Here's the thing. The president has said he couldn't he can't send in the at guard without the governor's agreement permission. The president has said, I don't know if I have to obey the constitution. I hope the president would read article 10 of the constitution, and I urge all of you to do that as well. Because section one two o four six of article 10 says that the the National Guard cannot be called up by the president without the consent of the governor. So that is the basis under which he's proceeding. That is the basis on which the president excuse me, the governor of California is suing. Really, I think it's really important for people to know how this came to be. Raids that they were holding, situations where if you are your case is not settled, you know, if you're still out there and haven't had a resolution of your status, You have to, by law, report in on a regular basis. You are obeying the law, and now they are deporting people for obeying the law. So as others have said, it's a distraction. It's a it's it's really stupid because we understand that we are a nation of immigrants. We want people to have to have a facilitation of their status. We do not want any violent protest, and that would be addressed for those who are acting violently. I do wanna say two more things. One is when and I say this as a former party chair. When there is a gathering, a large gathering of people, the anarchists see it as an opportunity and they move in. So always have to be careful whether you see a burned car or a broken window or whatever it is. It may be the exuberance of the moment, but it may be the anarchist setting in. I heard one of the former police chiefs of Los Angeles speak about this on Sunday. Secondly secondly, and you know this to be true, and I haven't seen it really reflected so much in the press. In a bipartisan way, on January 6, with violence against the constitution, against the congress, and against The United States capital, we beg the president of The United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it. Not only would he not do it, when law enforcement people were being harmed, let some later died, he would not send it in when his an instigation that he an insurrection that he incited was causing damage to those assigned to protect the capital and the constitution that day to accept the results of the of the, electoral college. That day, he didn't do it. He forgave those people. Now his people wanna raise money for them, and yet and yet, in a contra constitutional way, he has sent the National Guard into California. Something is very wrong with this picture. Inconsistent in his actions, contrary to his own statement that he couldn't, of a year ago that he couldn't send anyone in without the governor's consent, any place, and in violation of the constitution. Thank you again, mister Gomez for being honest.

🚨 Since January 6, 2021, Nancy Pelosi spent 3+ years and nearly $20 million creating a narrative to blame Donald Trump. NEW FOOTAGE shows on January 6, Pelosi ADMITTED: "I take responsibility." WATCH:

We failed to take responsibility and be accountable for the situation at hand. It was absurd to question whether to call the Capitol Police or have the National Guard present when the breach had already occurred. They believed they were prepared, but they were not. I acknowledge my fault in not ensuring better preparation. Translation (if needed): We did not take responsibility or accountability for the situation, which was ridiculous. There was confusion about calling the Capitol Police or having the National Guard present after the breach. They thought they were prepared, but they were not. I admit my mistake in not ensuring better preparation.

Speaker 0: We have responsibility, Terry. We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have. This is ridiculous. You're gonna ask me in the middle of the thing when they've already breached the stuff that that, should we call the Capitol Police? I mean, the, National Guard there to begin with? They thought that they had sufficient No. There's not a question of how they had been. They don't know. They clearly did of how they have been. They don't know. They clearly didn't know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more.
