Speaker 0: Hi, guys. This is Michelle Posey for Coastal Conservative News. This is our breaking news. On Friday, October 3, I'm not sure if you all saw this, there was turmoil inside the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Three of its senior officials have been caught up in a widening internal investigation with one already out the door. Two high ranking officials, colonel Chris Ruehl and Mike Hannaford, are now under investigation by the department's Professional Standards Bureau. Now a third official, captain Laura Rivera, abruptly resigned earlier this week. All three are linked to a controversy that began months ago with the sheriff's former chief deputy, Anthony Collins. Now back in August, guys, Collins resigned after an internal probe began into allegations that someone helped him complete his coursework at the FBI National Academy, one of the nation's top law enforcement leadership programs. The claim reportedly surfaced through an email sent by his own wife, oops, sparking an internal review that has since spread through the upper ranks of the department. Now investigators are examining whether other members of command may have known about or participated in the misconduct. The Hillsborough Sheriff's Office led by sheriff Chad Cronister had not confirmed disciplinary outcomes just yet, but insiders say morale has taken a hit. We would assume it would. Community advocates are calling for full transparency, emphasizing that taxpayers deserve accountability from those sworn to uphold the law. It's a reminder that integrity at the top sets the tone for everyone in uniform. From alleged academic fraud to command level resignations, it's a leadership crisis that Florida really can't ignore. We'll keep tracking how deep this investigation goes and whether any criminal referrals we'll be following. Keep it locked here to Coastal Conservative News for more.
