I'm a never Trump guy. I never liked him. Or you believe that woman on that tape? I cannot stand Trump because I think he's a fraud. Well, I think he's a total fraud that is exploiting these people who is a total fraud. Like you said, I I agree with you on Trump because I don't think that he's the person I I I don't think he actually cares about folks. Definitely there is definitely an element of Donald Trump's support that has its basis in racism or xenophobia. I I think there's a chance if I feel like Trump has a really good chance of winning that I might have to hold my nose and and vote for Hillary Clinton. I think that that I I'm I'm I'm gonna vote for I'm gonna vote third party because I can't stomach Trump. I think that he's noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.

Dave Stowell and Travis Quinn, both Iraq War veterans, meet with a representative to discuss a photo of Congressman Walz. They clarify that Walz served in Italy, not Afghanistan. They express concern over the confusion caused by Walz's official biography stating he served in Operation Enduring Freedom without specifying Italy. They question the legality of Walz claiming to be an Enduring Freedom veteran in the photo. Dave leaves his contact information and relevant documents for further discussion. The representative agrees to address the issue.

Speaker 0: My name is Dave Stowell. This is Travis Quinn. We're both constituents in Iraq War vets. We're hoping to talk to someone about the photograph I have. I have the walls. Okay. Not sure if you, have ever seen this picture before? Mhmm. Okay. Well, it it takes 2,004. We didn't have things in there. Right. He served, in Italy in support of Operation Enduring Enduring Freedom. Okay. But he didn't serve in Afghanistan, did he? Not that I'm aware of. Okay. Alright. I'm Dave Towle. How are you doing? Nice to meet you. There's a nobody in the office. I'm just helping us, but if you can. We're Do you guys wanna come in and have a seat? Sure. Thank you. Thank you very much. Yeah. Let me see. Yeah. Let me see. I am Dave Gould. This is Travis Cleveland. We're both we're both constituents. And both, Iraq war vets we serve together Okay. With the National Guard. So we're here on a veteran related issue. I don't know if you are familiar with this picture at all. So it's taken in 2004 here in Mankato. And it's actually been posted on the Internet for quite some time. We've been quite realized what it is. But, in this picture, congressman Walz here is only a sign that says enduring freedom of veterans for care. So so tell me what what you're understanding of military background is. Yeah. I I understand that it's that he was called up in in support of it, obviously, in support of that operation. That's how I've always understood it. And so the time that he, you know, when he got called up, you know, I guess I've always referred to it as, you know, he's called up and served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Okay. So is there any question in your mind what freedom is? No. Okay. So I guess most people and you yourself included would associate enduring freedom with Afghanistan. Right? Right. But I mean, I think it, you know, as I also understand that it encompasses a great deal in there. Well, operation enduring freedom is limited to Afghanistan and the airspace directly above. There's other units that were called up in support of that. I'm sure that's probably what his military owner said. Right. My my concern other than this picture is that the congressman's website, his his official biography says simply that he was mobilized within the battalion in support of operation and during freedom. Without any other details, don't you think it's reasonable people might assume that Muncie served in Afghanistan? Perhaps, I guess. Okay. So it's been 5 years now or I guess almost 5 years that the congressman's official biography has said he served in support of operation enduring freedom. Is that reasonable if it causes confusion or it may cause confusion that somebody may have thought to to change that and explain that? He served in in Italy and not in Afghanistan? I I mean, what would you suggest it be changed, I guess, would simply simply to add words in Italy. Served in support of operation during freedom in Italy. Simple as that. Because then it specifies that he served in Italy. Now don't get me wrong. I certainly appreciate congressman's service. 24 years in the national guard. We're both national guardsmen ourselves. We appreciate his service and we appreciate his being deployed. But there's a huge difference between being deployed to Sure. A base in Italy and being in in the combat zone in Afghanistan. Okay. Are you aware of any of the the media reports from 2006 that you had accurately cited the congressman as an as a war veteran? Specifically, I I can't think of any right now. But I don't I I I would imagine that that I know people have have approached me as a a staffer and and thought that, and so I corrected them. If so if you serve in support of an operation, you're not necessarily a veteran of that operation. Is that what you're saying? Yes. So your question is more about this picture than his biography. I I okay. I I have 2 questions. Yeah. The biography is one of them. That's that's oh, that's bad. That's misleading. That's a little bad. This right here, under current US law, this could get the congressman probably going into jail. In violation of 2006 Stolen Valor Act, which says it is a crime, a federal crime, to portray yourself in writing or verbally as having received in the order declaration authorized by congress that you didn't receive. Congresswoman Wallace is clearly claiming in this sign, in this in this picture with this sign to be an enduring freedom veteran. He is clearly nobody disputes the fact that he is not an Afghanistan or enduring freedom veteran. So this represents a fairly serious issue. So can I leave you my name and number and can I trust that someone will get back to me on this issue? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Let me grab my pen. Dave was it? Yes. How do you spell your last name? Thul, t h u l. And you're from Motown? Yes. And did you wanna leave any of this? Yes. I'm gonna leave this for you. This is a copy of picture so you guys have exactly what I'm looking at. And this is a copy of the story that I'm, that I'm working off of. I'm also a blogger as opposed to this. So I will leave you with all the information there that is relevant to this. And I'll leave you with a copy of the picture and I will hope to hear from someone in the congressman's office if not the congressman because this is a fairly serious matter and, it needs to be addressed. Okay. And you posted this? This is posted online? Yes. This is posted on Monday. Okay. Okay. Sounds good. Thanks, Dave. Thank you very much. I appreciate your help and cooperation and everything. Thank you for your service as well. We definitely appreciate it. Thank you very much. Your name again? Travis. Travis.
