APPALLING: 77-year-old homeowner arrested for murder after shooting 1 of 3 burglars who broke into his Oakland, California residence. https://t.co/TZnnXrePJk

Video Transcript AI Summary
A 77-year-old homeowner in East Oakland shot a burglary suspect who later died. The homeowner was arrested on suspicion of murder after the incident that occurred around 6 PM on Monday. Authorities say three suspects arrived at the home in a stolen Infiniti Q40. A witness reported seeing the three on the property, one with a crowbar, before hearing a gunshot. Police found the homeowner pointing a stolen .357 Colt Python revolver at the female suspect, who claimed the homeowner shot her friend. Another male suspect was found with a replica gun and arrested on suspicion of burglary. The homeowner has declined to talk to investigators, and no charges have been filed pending review by the Alameda County DA's office. DA Pamela Price stated that no assumptions should be made due to the homeowner's arrest. Prosecutors have until Thursday to decide on charges. Legal analyst Michael Cardoza says self-defense could be argued if the homeowner feared for his life, but shooting someone in the back while chasing them is unlawful. The circumstances are under investigation, and a jury would ultimately decide the outcome if the DA files charges.

Speaker 0: A burglary suspect was shot by a resident near 90 Eighth Avenue and Burr Street in East Oakland. Oakland firefighters and paramedics worked to save the suspect, but he died at the scene. Now I've learned the 77 year old homeowner is in jail, arrested by Oakland police on suspicion of murder. It happened just before six on Monday evening. Authorities say two men and a woman pulled up to the home in the stolen infinity q 40. A witness told police the three went on to the property and that one of the men had a crowbar. That witness then reported hearing a gunshot. I have learned from court documents that according to police, officers arrived and found a homeowner pointing a stolen three fifty seven cold python revolver at the female suspect. That woman told police the homeowner had shot her friend. Police say they found the other male suspect at the scene with a replica gun and arrested him on suspicion of burglary. No charges have been filed against the homeowner, pending a review by the Alameda County DA's office. No one answered the door on Tuesday. It's gonna be a pending case. On Tuesday, I caught up with DA Pamela Price at an unrelated news conference, and she and other law enforcement officials said no assumptions should be made just because the homeowner is in jail. Prosecutors have until Thursday to decide whether to charge him. I have learned to decline to talk to investigators. Speaker 1: You're not supposed to chase them. If you chase them and shoot them, for example, in the back, that is unlawful. Speaker 0: But KTVU legal analyst Michael Cardoza says depending on the facts, the homeowner could still argue self defense. Speaker 1: If you are an imminent fear of your life or someone else's life in your home, you have every right to take necessary means of self defense against the invader. Speaker 0: So, clearly, the circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. If this case is charged by the DA, ultimately, it'll be up to the jury to determine what happens. Live in Oakland, Henry Lee, KTVU, Fox Studio. Speaker 1: Alright. Henry, thank

Speaker 0: Priscilla, we learned that that police chase ended right here in this parking lot. The six women then tried to run away. Police say they are part of an organized crime ring. A gold Chevy Traverse pulling into the back side of a Norwood shopping plaza off Route 1 followed by police. This after investigators say the six women in the car had just broken into a nearby home on Neponset Street. Surveillance video captures two of the women entering the home. According to court documents, the homeowners had just left for a camping trip but came back because one of the kids had forgotten a doll. Speaker 1: Caller on 901 staged three female parties that were in his house and asking if he knew Jesus. He then asked them to leave. They ran out of the house. Speaker 0: After the women fled from the house, police say they refused to stop for an officer leading to a chase. And when they got to this parking lot, they took off on foot. One of the women going one way, the others headed for the nearby woods, some of them trying to cross the Neponset River. All were eventually taken into custody. Investigators say two of them even had tried to mutilate their fingerprints. Speaker 2: In the video, you see them all go in, and there was only one lady standing at the top of the stairs, almost like a lookout. Speaker 0: James Mahoney, a retired Norwood police officer, lives across the street from the home that was burglarized. Speaker 2: They were just walking around. They had a bible. They all had, like, books in their hands, and they they just walked right up to the door from the video, and then they just entered that that doorway there. Speaker 0: It's unknown why the suspects chose this home in this neighborhood, but police say the women live in Maryland and are part of an organized crime ring targeting multiple states. Speaker 3: I'm happy that nothing happened. At least it appears nothing. Nobody got hurt. I mean, that's the bottom line. Your life is your is your health. Speaker 0: Neighbors believe the women saw the family pack up and leave and may have been in the area last week as well. The home they broke into was unlocked. Speaker 2: They were just walking around, and I think they were just casing out houses. Speaker 0: So the six women were arraigned in court yesterday. ICE was there and took three of the women in custody. ICE also arrested two men who showed up at the courthouse to try to bail the women out.

BREAKING: The South American illegal alien burglars that Gavin Newsom & Karen Bass are harboring from ICE in LA, committing multi-million $ jewelry heists are so sophisticated they’re using signal jammers & cutting fiber lines, taking out 911 centers, including hospitals. https://t.co/hZuGvuOCsK

Video Transcript AI Summary
Signal jammers were found on suspects caught on a roof, explaining why a Glendale business owner's alarm didn't activate despite having an intense system. The suspects are also accused of cutting fiber lines outside a Luverne business, which Luverne PD says took out 911 and Internet service to a million customers, including hospitals. Police believe the suspects cut so many fiber lines to ensure they got everything, preventing alarm system fail-safes from triggering. The DA's office is charging all seven suspects, who are being held in Los Angeles County Jail. Investigators believe these foreign nationals are responsible for crimes in the United States and their home country.
Full Transcript
Speaker 0: Actually caught three of them on the roof. I wanna show you something that they found on these suspects. These are signal jammers, and it explains why the Glendale business owner told us that his alarm never went off. He said he had a pretty intense alarm system, and even if the wires were cut, he still should have gotten a call. Well, in addition to these jammers, we've also learned that the suspects are accused of cutting fiber lines outside of the Luverne business. I spoke with Luverne PD today. They told me that they cut so many fiber lines. It actually took out 911 and Internet service to a million customers in the area, including access to hospitals. Now the Luverne Police Department says that when I asked them why such a large area, he says it's likely that the suspects were just trying to make sure they got everything when they cut right through it. Now businesses usually and alarm systems usually have a fail safe that if a line is cut, then it alerts the alarm system. If you cut it much further down this the fiber system before it even gets to the business, that trigger usually wouldn't go off. I asked La Verne police how long it took to repair and the monetary damage for all of that. They haven't gotten back to me yet. Rutabet, DA's office, is charging all seven of them with these crimes. They are being held in the Los Angeles County Jail, and investigators do believe that these foreign nationals are responsible for crimes not only in The United States, but in their home country as well.

During a traffic stop, Munoz allegedly refused to comply with agents, leading one to break the rear window with a spring-loaded punch. Video footage shows Munoz driving off with an agent hanging from the car, dragging him 300 feet. The agent sustained significant cuts requiring thirty-three stitches. A Homeland Security official criticized Governor Tim Walz for his response, comparing criticisms of ICE to comparisons of law enforcement to the Gestapo. The Department of Justice claims a request to hold Munoz after a 2022 arrest was not honored by local authorities, resulting in his release.

Speaker 0: According to a federal complaint, agents were executing a warrant for 39 year old Roberto Carlos Munoz. They say Munoz entered the country unlawfully, and he also plead guilty to fourth degree criminal sexual conduct back in 2023 for abusing a minor. Tuesday morning, agents pulled him over. Court documents say he repeatedly refused to comply before a federal agent took out his spring loaded window punch with his right hand and broke the driver's side rear window. These images show the officers hand in the vehicle. In this video, you can see the driver take off with the agent hanging from the car, dragging him 300 feet through front yards. These graphic images show the aftermath, a bloody agent who needed thirty three stitches for his significant cuts. And now a political battle with a top Homeland Security official criticizing Governor Tim Walls, posting on acts instead of comparing ICE law enforcement to the Gestapo walls should be thanking our brave law enforcement. The Department of Justice says a request for Munoz to be held after that 2022 arrest was quote not honored by local authorities and Munoz was released.

This highlights the importance of ICE deportation raids. The conditions inside the dungeon were shocking, and I believe Governor Newsom is complicit for harboring him.

A woman accused of car theft resulting in a fatal crash no longer faces felony murder or kidnapping charges, just unarmed carjacking. The medical examiner's report on the victim's death is pending. Speaker 0: In the case of a woman accused of stealing a car and then crashing and killing a passenger inside. In court this afternoon, we learned the woman is no longer facing charges of felony murder and kidnapping. News Force Paul Wagner was in DC Superior Court for today's hearing and has the latest. Speaker 1: Good evening. We learned a number of new things in this case today. One of which is that Kayla Brown, the accused, is no longer facing felony murder or kidnapping charges. She's only facing a charge of unarmed carjacking. The US attorney's office has dropped those two charges in part because the medical examiner has not ruled on the cause and manner of death of Leslie Gaines. She was the passenger in the car when police say it was carjacked outside the emergency room of the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar unit. We also learned today that the that car, was missing for 19 minutes after Kayla Brown allegedly stole it outside the emergency room and then wherever it went. The the detective in this case, said there's no video and they have no information to learn where that car was for those 19 minutes until it crashed into the US attorney's office right over here just a few steps from where I'm standing.
