⚠️HOLY SMOKES—A famous whistleblower against @Boeing on safety issues, has just been suddenly found dead in his truck in his hotel parking lot—all while **testifying in the middle of his week of depositions** against Boeing. JFC. Many of John Barnett’s claims about dangerous Boeing practices have already been verified by the FAA. If we don’t hold accountability for his death, whistleblowers won’t come forward in the future—which would endanger publicly health & safety. https://bbc.com/news/business-68534703
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
2) WTF — “It said the 62-year-old had died from a "self-inflicted" wound on 9 March and police were investigating.” ➡️ people don’t suddenly commit suicide in a parking lot while at a hotel to testify against @Boeing for days and days.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
@Boeing 3) Everyone needs to watch John Oliver @LastWeekTonight episode on Boeing immediately… it’s fire 🔥 https://youtu.be/Q8oCilY4szc
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
4) “Even in the technical meetings (of aircraft engineers), everything revolved around Boeing stock prices”. JFC.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
5) “a 2017 review by the US regulator, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), did uphold some of Mr Barnett's concerns. It established that the location of at least 53 "non-conforming" parts in the factory was unknown, and that they were considered lost. Boeing was ordered to take remedial action. On the oxygen cylinders issue, the company said that in 2017 it had "identified some oxygen bottles received from the supplier that were not deploying properly". But it denied that any of them were actually fitted on aircraft. After retiring, he embarked on a long-running legal action against the company. He accused it of denigrating his character and hampering his career because of the issues he pointed out”

6) Basically whistleblower John Barnett has been tirelessly warning about Boeing dangers for almost a decade. Yet somehow he suddenly commits suicide in his deposition testimony week after all these years? Gimme a break. Last month he was still warning: https://www.tmz.com/2024/01/31/boeing-quality-manager-john-barnett-plane-alaska-airlines-window/
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
7) Folks—John Barnett worked at @Boeing for 28 years. He is not an attention seeker. Yet federal whistleblower protection wasn’t enough to protect him during his testimony. We live in a dangerous world folks. Whistleblowers need better protection. https://www.corporatecrimereporter.com/news/200/boeing-whistleblower-found-dead-in-charleston-after-break-in-depositions/

@Boeing 8) Years ago during the Boeing 737-Max Ethiopian crash incident—when Trump was president… while nations around the world grounded the 737-Max, Trump’s FAA let them keep flying for 2 more days. Trump WH also further relaxed FAA inspection standards. 🔥 https://www.forbes.com/sites/marisagarcia/2019/03/18/did-trump-executive-orders-further-weaken-faa-oversight/
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
@Boeing 9) @Boeing CEO Muilenburg spoke with Trump that a.m., urging him not to ground 737 Max 8s after the Ethiopian 737 Max crash. Muilenburg has tried to cultivate Trump. He visited Mar-a-Lago after AF1 dust-up, & then Boeing donated $1M to Trump inaugural. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/12/business/boeing-737-grounding-faa.html
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
10) A really weird thing—besides the small website “Corporate Crimes Reporter”, TMZ, and BBC News who all reported it 14-18 hours ago—no other major outlet has covered John Barnett’s death until the last few hours today. This is explosive news—yet mostly crickets 🦗—weird.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
11) the last 24 hours of news about @Boeing is just wild… this LATAM airline pilot told a passenger his 787 aircraft gauges went blank!
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
@Boeing 12) F.A.A.: @Boeing had “failed 33 of 89 audits during an examination conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration after a panel blew off an Alaska Airlines jet in January”—“with a total of 97 instances of alleged noncompliance”. 📍The thing that worries me about the new #EG5 variant is whether it is incredibly immunity evasive against past infections/vaccines (especially the 80-85% who never got Omicron bivalent booster shot)— and how infectious & severe it will be? And why now this summer if it has been steadily growing a while (but not spiking)—was it the July epic heat wave that sent people into indoors for AC? And is the latest case surge going to overload hospitals or just create a modest wave? I’m still trying to figure this out using data collated from US and Europe. I’m being more cautious with this new WHO-proclaimed #COVID19 “variant of interest”. Meantime please #MaskUp and #ventilate and #HEPA disinfect your schools and office buildings. Better safe than #LongCovid sorry—because 10-20% LC among those infected is ENORMOUS and itself going to crush healthcare systems down the road. #CovidIsNotOver
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
2) Italy COVID deaths are increasing again - 2.5x in 2 weeks, as pointed out by @Antonio_Caramia. Have to see if this continues.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
3) I agree it probably not the heat wave indoor activity — I was just thinking aloud as a devil’s advocate to myself. Ireland never had a heat wave yet still seeing hospital cases rising. I’m trying to explain my thinking process to everyone.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
4) UK’s variant modeling group shows both XBB16 and EG5 growing simultaneously and fighting for dominance. However Us CDC predicts XBB16 likely waning. Why the divergence? When folks can’t agree on any spiking trajectory, it gives me pause if this is “the next big one” or not. https://gov.uk/government/publications/sars-cov-2-genome-sequence-prevalence-and-growth-rate/sars-cov-2-genome-sequence-prevalence-and-growth-rate-update-2-august-2023

NEW TOXINS IDENTIFIED—“We basically nuked a town with chemicals so we could get a railroad open,” said Sil Caggiano, a hazardous materials specialist. Rail company Norfolk Southern is paying just $25k to the town, or ~$5 per resident.🧵 HT @therecount
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
2) DRINKING WATER now endangered. East Palestine police in Ohio is warning that drinking water may be "at-risk" for some people. A task group is going door-to-door to test water. HT @therecount
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
3) Yesterday I advocated potentially warning and advising everyone within 50 mile radius to be on high alert after the vinyl chloride rail spill. Here is 50 miles… it includes all the way to Pittsburgh!
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
4) Here are the 3 new chemicals identified in the Ohio rail spill, besides vinyl chloride— Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (bad for central nervous system) https://www.ilo.org/dyn/icsc/showcard.display?p_lang=en&p_card_id=0059&p_version=2 Ethylhexyl acrylate (bad for GI/ulcers) https://www.arkema.com/files/live/sites/shared_arkema/files/downloads/socialresponsability/safety-summuries/acrylics-2-ethylhexyl-acrylate-2012-08-30.pdf https://nj.gov/health/eoh/rtkweb/documents/fs/1045.pdf
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
5) there is no way you can try to convince me this Ohio rail plume is okay for local residents or anyone downwind of the plume.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
6) I would not move back to Eastern Ohio area or the Western Pa areas downwind of it until extensive testing of air water and soil shows it is safe. My thread 🧵 yesterday 👇
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
7) the real long term health effects won’t be know for years or decades down the road. By then insurance companies and corporations and politicians will have moved on. The untold risks are rarely uncovered (unless by diligent epidemiologists… yes, us again) who research it.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
8) if you smell chemicals in the air — definitely stay far far away. Many residents in even neighboring counties also smell the chemicals. They should all evacuate.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
9) Anyone saying it’s safe to return is completely lying to you. Burning vinyl chloride is a horrible thing that will pollute the air water and soil for years and likely decades. @GovMikeDeWine needs to evacuate the entire region of the plume. @JoshShapiroPA needs to monitor the…

10) “My chickens were perfectly fine before, and as soon as they started the burn, my chickens slowed down and they died,” “If it can do this to chickens in one night, imagine what it’s going to do to us in 20 years” Yeah—evacuate your families. ⚠️ https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-news/east-palestine-train-derailment/north-lima-woman-finds-chickens-dead-tuesday-questions-chemical-release-from-train/
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
11) Let’s check which way the toxic chemical plume is moving… EAST to Pennsylvania— specifically SOUTHEAST towards Pittsburgh! #trainderailment #OhioTrainDisaster
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
12) Years ago, I created a free early warning website called Toxin Alert. Back then there was no interest. I might bring it back if people are interested… I’ve been warning about these stuff for years. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2017/01/a-link-to-where-lead-lurks/
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
13) 70 miles southeast of the train derailment where the chemical burn started… this is what came down in the rain 🌧️— it’s likely highly acidic rain combined with soot. You don’t want to breath this shit, not to mention LIVE in it.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
14) over 1,000,000 pounds of Vinyl Chloride leaked, spilled and burned. We are talking about an ecological disaster for years to come… water and soil … agriculture and human health disaster. Thanks @nscorp - thanks for skimping on train upgrades and skipping new brake system.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
15) Was this just a freak accident that couldn’t have been prevented by @nscorp? Norfolk Southern actually lobbied to kill federal safety rules around upgraded train braking requirements. Those brakes could have likely dropped the derailment. NS has blood 🩸 on its hands.
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
16) “THESE ARE NOT EFFING STORM CLOUDS”—the frustrated resident says: the contents of the train could have been transferred into tankers but instead it was set on fire to save time and money. #OhioChernobyl
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
17) Reminder— Norfolk Southern @nscorp chose to do a $10 billion stock buyback instead of investing on worker pay or train safety—especially needed brake replacements. Never forget — we need to sue NS executives to the ground. http://www.nscorp.com/content/nscorp/en/news/norfolk-southern-announces-new--10-billion-stock-repurchase-prog.html
@DrEricDing - Eric Feigl-Ding
18) And hell yes the rail companies like Norfolk Southern are responsible - they actively lobbied to block safety rules around new brake requirements. @nscorp executives and lobbyists have blood 🩸 on their hands. #OhioChernobyl #OhioTrainDisaster https://www.levernews.com/rail-companies-blocked-safety-rules-before-ohio-derailment/
