Video Transcript AI Summary
Melissa Atwater from Peterborough, Ontario created an online petition criticizing the prime minister's decisions and their impact on Canadians. The petition has gained over 200,000 signatures, making it the fastest growing in parliament history. The trolls are angry and spreading misinformation, claiming that anyone from any country can sign the petition. However, only Canadian residents or citizens can sign, and each person can only sign once. The numbers are significant because they show dissatisfaction and send a strong message to parliament. The petition will be tabled in parliament, and the government will have to respond within a set time frame. The goal is to elevate the voice of the people and bring attention to their concerns.

Speaker 0: Okay. Lots of questions about the online petition that was created by Melissa Atwater from Peterborough, Ontario asking for a non a vote saying that the prime minister does not have the best interests of Canadians at, Hardee. He's not making best decisions. He's increasing homelessness. He's increasing food bank usage. He's poverty, crime, chaos, all of the things we know. So what does this all mean? A lot of the trolls are very angry because this is the fastest growing, online petition in parliament history. So we're over 200,000. We have until December 24th. That is the end date. Everybody asks me a couple questions. How many signatures nosit need. If we hit 300,000, that will be the highest ever online petition. The numbers are are symbolic in many ways, but they're very valuable because they elevate your voice. They send a very big message that you are unhappy, and that is very important when we work here at parliament. The second thing is, the trolls, they're very angry. They don't like this. They like to protect their sweet precious Justin Trudeau. So they're they're saying all these things online. Like, everybody from every other country can sign this petition. These are fake numbers. That is not true. And all they have to do is a little bit of research. Go look at online petitions. Anybody can start a petition. You just need a an MP to sponsor it. You have to be a Canadian resident or a Canadian citizen. So maybe you do live in a different country, but you can sign it. That doesn't mean it's open to anyone. Okay? And the other thing is you can only sign it once. So these are not false numbers. So just keep going. Don't give up. Pass the petition around. It sends a huge message. It's it's very important. People say, well, what happens next? Well, then when we come back to parliament, I will table the petition. The government has a set amount of time to respond to that. If they don't a non respond, then I can, do a call to action, push it to committee, but it's elevating your voice. That is what we are elected to do here as members of parliament. People will say, well, why doesn't Michelle just move her on motion to do that. She can do that. Because it's not about me. It's about you. It's about the people. And you did this work. You're doing the work, and I'm here to elevate the voice of your work. So don't stop. Keep going.
