I see an outright abuse of power happening. This administration is attacking critics and using fear to silence dissent. Media corporations are giving in to these threats. We cannot remain silent or complacent against this assault on free speech. We deserve better.

What we are witnessing is an outright abuse of power. This administration is attacking critics and using fear as a weapon to silence anyone who would speak out. Media corporations — from television networks to newspapers — are capitulating to these threats. We cannot dare to be silent or complacent in the face of this frontal assault on free speech. We, the People, deserve better.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Summer Taylor was only 24-years-old, peacefully protesting for Black Lives Matter when they were struck by a car. Thinking of their family during this difficult time and everyone in the movement today. https://t.co/i7hqkjSSMH

Because if he is elected again, I am certain he will sign a national abortion ban, which would outlaw abortion in every single Yes Yeah. They bound it. They handed it out. I mean, they are simply out of their minds.

Justice is on the ballot when people are spending weeks, months, and years in jail because they can’t afford bail. No more—as president, I’ll fight to end the money bail system. https://t.co/6fj8Ix80un

Video Transcript AI Summary
The speaker states someone spent 45 days in jail for nonrelated violent crimes and was denied basic necessities like toothpaste, which cost 400% more than usual when they could pay for it. The speaker plans to shut down the for-profit prison system on day one, asserting that profiting off the incarceration of human beings should not exist. The speaker is a leader in the United States Senate on the issue of money bail and believes it needs to be eliminated. The speaker claims that the current money bail system results in two people committing the same offense, but only the person who can afford bail is released while awaiting trial, while the other remains incarcerated. The speaker characterizes this as both a criminal and economic justice issue.

Speaker 0: This year, he sent 45 days in jail for nonrelated violent crimes. Mhmm. The jail system is terrible Yep. As you know. Yep. He was denied basic things like toothpaste. And when we could pay for that, it was 400% bar level course. What will you do, I guess, for all these things? The for profit prison system. On day 1, we're gonna shut that down. I mean, literally, the the business model of little the business model is certain human beings are profiting off the incarceration of other human beings. There should never be a profit associated with the incarceration of human beings. Profit in the prison system. The bail the money bail system in America. I'm actually a leader in the United States senate on this. We need to get rid of money bail. Why? Well, because here's the thing. 1 2 people commit the same offense. 1 person pulls together the money to pay bail, and they're out for the weeks, months, even years while they wait to go to trial. Right? The person who doesn't have money sits in jail for that whole period of time. This is a criminal justice issue and it's an economic justice issue.
