Speaker 0: The continuation of our funding for Ukraine, certainly across the Western political establishment, and Western officials have been ramping up public rhetoric about why sponsoring PM's military is a top priority despite severe economic downturns at home. Now the defense ministers have presented the argument that get this, it's apparently cheaper to have Ukraine forces fight against Russia than for the west to do it itself.
Speaker 1: So it is very much in our interest to support Ukraine because they are fighting this war. We're not fighting And so I think we have to engage also in the dialogue with our American colleagues and friends because they have the same interest in a way, of course, supporting Ukraine is a very cheap way, to make sure that Russia with this regime is not a threat to the NATO alliance.
Speaker 2: Here we go again. Yet another Western officials viewing the latest talking point, implying that taxpayers should not bulk at paying Ukraine to fight Russians. Because it's such a great deal. Wonder how Ukrainians feel about the cost of their lives being reduced to a line item expense on Western government spreadsheets. There's also the implication here that the cost could be worse.
It could involve lives of Western troops, except that it wouldn't because the political cost of sending Western troops to fight against Russia in Ukraine would be far too high to even warrant serious consideration. But, hey, as long as Ukrainians are willing to do it, instead of opting for a peaceful resolution, then the West is only too happy to let them do all the dirty work. While managing and manipulating the expectations and perceptions of Western citizens with this new spin line, It's on the list of so many Western leaders, like US Senator Lindsey Graham, who called it the best money we've ever spent earlier this year pointing out that Russians were dying as if Ukrainians weren't minor detail, I guess, or former secretary of state and 1st Lady Hillary Clinton, who said last December that US aid to Ukraine is a, quote, really good investment for the United States. They are no asking us to be there to fight their war, they're fighting it themselves, or Polish president, Andre Duda, who said back in August, quote, right now, Russian imperialism can be stopped cheaply because American soldiers are not dying. Defense minister has added her voice to this tone deaf sociopathic course, but the same minister was singing a much different tune about values of freedom democracy and territorial integrity last year and in front of Ukrainian officials just back in March.
Speaker 3: While witnesses to the devastating and deadly consequences of the cowardly attack on Ukraine, thousands of civilians were forced to flee or take cover for bombardments, is hard to imagine the fear this must cause. At the same time, we see brave Ukrainians fighting for their country, for their democracy. For their freedom and for their loved ones. You are fighting for every inch of your homelands and for the future of your children. A future and a free Ukraine and in the world where we respect each other's borders.
That is our goal.
