When did Trump become a racist? Only when they told you so? Was he a problem when he was with the Clintons? People are upset about the ad he took out against the Central Park 5, but back then, all the news pointed to their guilt. Plus, he was a registered Democrat at the time, and the DA, police chief, and mayor were all Democrats too. Where's the outrage for corporations buying sweets at the DNC or abortion mobiles near the convention? Biden was racist, and some say he was only VP to balance the ticket. Hillary Clinton was a Goldwater girl who said, "bring them to heel" about us. Is racism only a problem with bad PR? An apology doesn't undo decades of racist policies. But Trump passed the First Step Act with Kim K. advocating for black people more than some black people are. When do we hold everyone accountable?

Speaker 0: Was Oprah dumb when she was hanging out with that racist? Was Whoopi Goldberg dumb when she was hanging out with that racist? So when did he become a racist? When they told you he was. Was he a racist? Was he a problem for Hillary Clinton when he stood up at Chelsea Clinton's wedding? When he was golfing with Bill Clinton for years? Make it make sense. Oh, and again, this is not me advocating for Donald Trump, but I need to give you an example that you cannot you cannot argue. People are upset because Donald Trump's a racist because he took out an $85,000 ad in the newspapers against the exonerated five, formerly known as the Central Park 5. Right? That's a problem. That's problematic because he said they needed to get the death penalty. You know what everybody leaves out of that conversation? Two things. The first is all we had was the information that was being presented to us on the news. At the time. And at the time, all that information said that we got them. We got these kids. They ain't saying nothing about rounding them up or how they rounded them up or this, that, and third. They sat up there and they present go look at a forget me. Go look at Ava DuVernay's Netflix movie. Go look at all the documentaries made about these guys. Now here's the gag. At the time when Donald Trump did that, he was a registered Democrat. Not only that, he was a private citizen. Not only that, the district attorney, the assistant district attorney, the chief of police, the mayor, all of them happened to be Democrats. But that didn't stop anybody from dealing with the fact that they paraded them brothers up on that stage at the DNC in 2024, like, oh, Donald Trump's the problem. Oh, so but I didn't hear any of them issue an apology for what they did to railroad those boys for a decade and some change. How does that make sense? Matter of fact, one of the assistant prosecutor is still a huge donator a a huge donor to the Democratic National Convention Democratic National Committee. So I'm trying to understand how that makes sense. And then, by the way, where's all your smoke for these corporations that were buying million dollar sweets at the DNC. You care about black life so much. Why were you okay with them having abortion mobiles a block away from the Democratic National Convention? If if we're gonna talk about preserving life, if we're gonna talk about racism, we're gonna talk about systemic things. You have to talk about it regardless of who you like or who has the best PR or who says the things you don't like. That's my issue. Y'all know for a fact Joe Biden was a racist. Always been a racist. And the only reason he was vice president under Obama is because they wanted to balance the ticket. So if you put a Negro in there, let's make sure we put somebody who was mentored by Strom Thurman, who eulogized Robert Byrd, who was an exalted Cyclops in the Klan. Oh, you mean the guy who who said that Barack Obama was a what what was the word? Oh, the first mainstream clean, articulate black person? Excuse me? That was okay? Oh, you you can't get a Dunkin' Donut unless you got unless you got a little Indian in you. He said that. You're okay with that. You're okay with Hillary Clinton being a Goldwater girl, who was a car carrying racist and segregationist, who also said, we need to bring them to heel. Them meaning you and me. Because we were teenagers at the time when she said that, and she was the first lady. So is racism a problem, or is racism with the right amount of PR a problem? When is it just, hey, this is wrong, and it needs to be wrong? Oh, but he apologized for it. Yeah. But his apology don't do nothing for the thirty plus years of racist policies that have affected us. But then again, when you got somebody creating a First Step Act, getting these people out for nonviolent drug offenses, you got Kim Kardashian. And I can't stand Kim Kardashian neither. You got her advocating for more black people than I see black people are advocating for black people. Not making a bunch of noise on the senate floor. Not pontificating on somebody's podcast. Literally taking their time, money, energy, and efforts and putting it out there. So I'm trying to understand when is it enough that we hold everybody accountable, not the people they just tell you to like.

I shared how a road in WNC, initially carved out by coal miners for volunteers delivering supplies to Chimney Rock, has been blocked by FEMA with a costly new gate and surveillance measures. This $280,000 could have helped storm victims instead. I questioned the motives behind this decision, recalling Governor Cooper's comments suggesting residents shouldn't rebuild but sell their land. It feels unjust for him to dictate their choices, especially with potential lithium resources at stake. The whole situation seems dishonest.

@Lisahudsonchow7 - Lisa πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ’‹πŸŒΉπŸ·

A road was carved out in WNC by the West Virginia Coal Miners so the VOLUNTEERS could get supplies up to the people in Chimney Rock and beyond. FEMA came in and put up a big metal gate and told the volunteers they could no longer use that road. Someone tore down the gate so now FEMA is getting a contract for $280,000 to put another gate, cameras, and guards to make sure no one β€œtrespasses.” $280,00 that could be used on the victims of this storm… Now tell me why they would to this? I remember Governor Cooper saying in an interview that the people in Chimney Rock shouldn’t rebuild. They just needed to sell their land. Who is he to tell them they shouldn’t rebuild? It’s their land. BUT THEN … there the small matter of the lithium. The people who own the land are in the way…The entire situation reeks of dishonesty.

The Bema compound has a significant presence of armed agents, raising questions about their intentions. Recently, access to a road connecting Lake Lure to Chimney Rock and Batcave was restricted after West Virginia coal miners helped create it for supply transport. Initially, the road facilitated essential deliveries, and footage was captured to showcase its construction. However, gates have now been installed, and FEMA plans to spend $280,000 on security measures, including cameras and guards, to prevent access. Despite these efforts, there remains a commitment to maintain connections with privately run supply stations, as the focus appears to be on controlling the area and managing the population in the valley. The underlying motive seems to involve clearing out the less affluent from the land.

Speaker 0: There in Chandler. And the thing about the Bema compound is it's not just pencil busters. They got a lot of agents. They got a lot of armed agents, and it's like, well, why do you have all this? Now we know that they went and sealed off the road at the West Virginia coal miners that cut from Lake Lure. You'd be able to go from Lake Lure to Chimney Rock up to Batcave because we were staged at Lake Lure when we first got here. And so we were sending supplies all the way around the mountain up to Batcave. Well, those West Virginia coal miners made us a road so we could hop skip up through chimney rock, and we were one of the first people taking loads up to it. We got from the new road, and I filmed everything going up so people could see what a good job they did. Well, now they shut the road. They put gates up. They're saying you can't use this road. Someone went down and torn the gates out, and now FEMA's getting a contract for, like, $280,000 to put cameras, more secure gates, and guards, and they're literally gonna do everything they can to cut us off from the people who are running privately ran supply stations like what we're doing. They'll have a hard time cutting us off because they still want some sense of normality over all the people that are safe up in these mountains around us. They just wanted the valley wiped out. They wanted the eyesore, the poor, they want this land. Everywhere we're used

With 80% market control, why wouldn’t businesses switch? You’re making significant profits while consumers owe over $1.17 trillion on credit cards, with average interest rates around 29%. Speaker 0: What's your profit margin, Mr. Patrick? Speaker 1: It's circa 50%. Speaker 0: Mister Sheedy? Slightly higher. Higher than 50% profit margin? Speaker 2: Slightly higher than Mastercard. Yes. Speaker 0: Yeah, that's incredible. 50% profit margin. I mean, that's absolutely unbelievable. What's the answer to the Walmart question, by the way, that Senator Welch posed to you? What's Walmart's interchange fee that you negotiate with them? Speaker 1: I don't have it with me today. Speaker 0: You don't have any idea whatsoever? Is it higher or lower than 2.5 percent? Speaker 1: Walmart negotiates their rates based on the business that they do with us. Speaker 0: Meaning they're big. They're really big. There's organic. So they get a better deal than Mr. Callahan or most small businesses in Missouri. Is that what you're telling me? Yes, Senator, we have volume discounts that we offer to some merchants. I suspect Walmart is one of them. And I Speaker 2: don't believe that it's commercially unreasonable to get an arrangement where, in exchange for more volume, a merchant can qualify for lower rates. Speaker 0: Well, I'm sure it's not commercially unreasonable for Walmart or certainly it's in their financial interest and in yours, but I doubt it's in Mr. Callahan's financial interest. And my question to you, Mr. Callahan, is when you've got Walmart and other major competitors getting charged much less than you are, why in the world would you stick with these guys? I mean, why why is it that small businesses continue to use Visa and Mastercard when they're getting you're getting charged so much more? Speaker 2: It's in my in my opinion, it's a matter of convenience for the customer, and customers matter to our business. Speaker 0: Maybe is it because that Visa and Mastercard are effectively monopolies? They control 80% of the market? Speaker 2: Certainly part of Speaker 0: the 80% of the market? I'm just having a hard time understanding, mister Sheedy and mister Patrick, you have a business model, you're making over 50% profit margin. You are able to give the shaft to small businesses, estimated cost to Missouri businesses from these fees is $1,500,000,000 that's with a B, $1,000,000,000 a year, a year. Why aren't all of these businesses running away from this model? Because they don't have a choice because you control so much of the market. This is classic classic monopolistic behavior and yet your testimony here today is you don't want any competition, You have 80% of the market, but you don't want any more competition. I just I'm having a hard time finding that position defensible, let alone sympathetic. I mean, it's unbelievable the amount of money that you're making. It's unbelievable what you're charging small businesses and consumers. And yet your testimony is, please, please, please, please, please, we can't possibly have any competition. I mean, let's talk about what you're doing to consumers who hold your cards. Last year, as I understand it, there were 726,000,000 Visa and Mastercard issued, Mastercard credit cards issued in United States. That's about 2 for every one person in the United States of America. Do either of you know how much debt is owed on your networks, miss Kirkpatrick? Speaker 1: We're not the bank, so we don't have visibility into that information. We also don't generate revenue from interchange. Speaker 0: Okay. You have no idea. Mister Shady, do you know? I don't know. Well, let me help you out. Let's have a look. It's $1,170,000,000,000 $1,170,000,000,000 is what consumers now owe on your credit card networks. Either you know what the average interest rate is on your networks, mister Patrick. Speaker 1: Oh, senator, we're not the bank. We don't set the interchange. I know. We don't set Speaker 0: the rates. From it and you know. Do you do you know what it is? This is your business model. Speaker 1: We don't we don't collect revenue Speaker 0: from interest rates. Do you do you know? I don't, senator. I mean, do either of you read the newspaper? Forbes Magazine just estimated last week that the average average credit card APR in your networks is 28.75 percent, average. 29%, let's call it. 29%. It's nearly doubled in the last 4 years. That is astounding. Absolutely astounding. And you just testified a second ago that you've got more than 50% profit margin. And yet your testimony here today is you can't possibly survive if there's any competition. How can that be true? How can that be true? You've got debt like we've never seen before in American history. Your profit margins are as higher higher than they've ever been. You have 80% of the relevant market in the credit card interchange fees that we're talking about, and yet you you couldn't survive if there's any competition. What am I what am I missing?

It's heartbreaking to see people losing so much, especially when DPS took her son and placed him in a foster home two hours away. This situation is deeply disturbing, and I can't help but wonder what really happens to children in DPS. When will enough be enough?

I guess it’s just not enough that people have lost so much if not everything. DPS showed up at her home and removed her son. He has been placed into a foster home 2 hours away from her. This entire story is so very disturbing and sad. Y’all do know what happens to children in DPS, right? I just need to know…. When is enough … enough?

DPS took my son, and now he's in foster care nearly two hours away. I received a notice that he will remain in state custody until December for a preliminary hearing. I requested an attorney but was denied because the Social Security benefits he receives were counted as my income, even though I don’t get those funds. I’m struggling to manage my responsibilities, including caring for my mother and visiting my son. The pressure is overwhelming, and despite my clean drug tests, they keep adding more requirements. My son is suffering too; he was only allowed to take one stuffed animal when he left. It broke my heart to see him plead not to go.

Speaker 0: And so if Helene wasn't wasn't bad enough Yeah. They gotta hit you when you're already vulnerable and on the edge. Speaker 1: That I'm here by myself doing what I can myself for for 2 other human beings. He's in foster care an hour at least an estimated an hour and 45 minutes away. Speaker 0: And right before I pulled in here, you just got a piece of mail. Speaker 1: I did. Speaker 0: And and the gist of that document basically says that the judge just has decided it's in the best interest of Benjie to stay in the state's custody until December 3rd where you're gonna Minimum. Minimum. Where you're gonna have a preliminary hearing. Speaker 1: Right. Speaker 0: Now at the first preliminary hearing, you were not accompanied by an attorney. No. You were alone. Speaker 1: I was alone. Speaker 0: And did you ask for an attorney? Speaker 1: I did. Speaker 0: And you were denied? Speaker 1: I filled out the paperwork. It was given back to the judge, and the judge or the the the circuit or the clerk's office 2 days later called me back and said that the judge, judge Bowers, denied my request. Speaker 0: And that's because they counted the Social Security your son receives Speaker 1: That follows my son? Speaker 0: As income for you, which then disqualified your ability to retain state appointed, defense. And the craziest part is you're not receiving those funds, protective services is. Speaker 1: They go to the foster family, plus I have to pay child support on top, plus I have to have a place for him to live, plus I have to have transportation to visit him 4 months consecutively before I lose my my parental life. Speaker 0: So the the income that you would have been using to create a rehabilitated home from this situation is now taken away. So they moved them 2 hours away Yes. Knowing that you have car troubles, knowing that you don't have the money for a lawyer. They won't give you a lawyer, and they want you, when you're taking care of your mother, to now stop everything you're doing, get a full time job, and then somehow be able to take care of your mother and drive 2 hours for visitation. Speaker 1: Buses and do this and do that? Speaker 0: Do you think it's possible to to do all the programs they want you to do and take care of your mother and go get a full time job and be able to maintain that job? Speaker 1: If it's doable, it'll be a it'll be probably the hardest thing I ever do in my life is having to take care of mom and and still take care of myself so that I'm good. Speaker 0: That's Do you think they really are understanding the situation that they're putting you in as a mom. Speaker 1: They don't give a shit. They don't care. And you've Speaker 0: had they want. You've had clean drug test, and and they they want more and more and more. It seems like when they make one line and they say, hey. Come to this line, and we'll give you your son back. Speaker 1: Step to this one. Speaker 0: And then the next one. Speaker 1: And then you gotta take 20 more steps. Here's your new one. Speaker 0: It's never good enough, is it? Speaker 1: It's gonna go past. Speaker 0: It's gonna go past that Dodge Ram up there pretty soon. Speaker 1: Past that. You know? Speaker 0: I mean, on the other side of the mountain. Speaker 1: It it's gonna go down to the state line. It it will. Speaker 0: And then by then, you know what they do? They've alienated you so far and drugged you through the mud so far that now they say, well, you have no established ties. And, constitutionally, we have no obligation to reunite families with no established ties. Speaker 1: When you're singled out, you're alone, you're you're alienated. Who who's who who in the right mind would allow a child to go back to somebody like that? But they've designed it that way. It Speaker 0: feels like a boot on the back of your neck, doesn't it? Speaker 1: On the back of your neck, in your nose, in your jaw, in your chest, in your Speaker 0: And does that make it hard to to do the right thing every day? Does it make it more difficult for you to do the right things for yourself and as a mother and for for everyone that needs you? Does it make it any easier or harder on you, all this pressure and weight that they put on you? Speaker 1: Pressure and the weight make you want to crumble. I mean, for 8 years now, that's all I've had to be is strong. And I crumbled one time, once. Speaker 0: After a horrible disaster. Speaker 1: After a disaster. And they're making me pay for that now. And I understand I'm human. I will make mistakes. I did make mistakes. I don't believe I need to pay to this degree, period. End of story. You don't need to traumatize my son more who's already been through enough. Because of his birthday, he should be in the 1st grade because wherever his birthday falls. They did bump him up to 2nd grade, because he is he's amazing, genius level. Speaker 0: He is. Speaker 1: He's amazing. Speaker 0: He sounds amazing. Speaker 1: They wouldn't let him take any of his toys. Anything they let him take one stuffed animal. 1. That was it. He couldn't take his Legos. Couldn't take any of the food he likes to eat. That was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do was put him in that truck. Speaker 0: What do you think he was feeling in that moment? I know these are hard questions. Speaker 1: You could tell he wanted to just crawl right down that truck, right back into my arms. He just kept pleading with me. Please, mama. Please, mama. I don't wanna. Please come with me.

I’m frustrated that Kellogg’s sells a dangerous version of their products in the U.S. while offering a safer one elsewhere. It makes me question the link between these ingredients and the rise in ADHD among children. I believe it’s time to boycott Kellogg’s and other processed food companies.

So Kellogg’s sell Americans one product with dangerous ingredients for us to ingest but sells a different version to other countries which is a much safer product. Do you ever wonder why there’s so many children with ADHD? Look at the ingredients. Do a little research on what it does to our bodies. It’s time to boycott Kellogg’s and so many other food companies that make processed foods.

Texas should take action by banning Kellogg and similar companies from public institutions due to their sale of less safe cereal versions in the U.S. Kellogg offers a safer version without harmful additives in other countries but chooses to sell a more profitable, inferior product here. Over 450,000 signatures have been gathered for a petition urging Kellogg to provide safer options for American families. Despite this, Kellogg refuses to change, citing consumer preference for colorful products. California has already passed a bill banning certain artificial food dyes in public schools, and Texas should follow suit as a first step toward improving public health. There is a clear path to eliminate harmful ingredients from our food, and Texas can lead the way in this effort. Thank you.

Speaker 0: And our great state of Texas should take a stand by banning Kellogg and other anti American companies from our public institutions like schools and the military. Earlier this year, I filed a shareholder activist letter against Kellogg for selling a less safe inferior version of their cereals to American families. Very few Americans know that Kellogg sells a safer version of their cereals without artificial food dyes or carcinogenic preservatives in other countries. They use more chemicals in the US version because it is more profitable and because we allow them to. We have collected over 450,000 US signatures for what is now the largest food petition in US history, asking Kellogg to serve Americans the safest and best version of products that they already make. Kellogg declined to meet with us and effectively told us that American children prefer the brighter colors, and they will continue selling the more toxic version as long as it is, quote, compliant with applicable relevant laws, which is why I'm here today. We need your help to stop this madness. After reviewing the conclusive evidence 6 weeks ago, California was the 1st state to pass a bill banning all foods containing any of 6 artificial food dyes from public schools, including Froot Loops. As an easy first step to improve our health, I believe Texas should follow suit. I am optimistic for the first time in 20 years, and I believe that Texas can be a thought leader in removing harmful ingredients from our foods. We can reverse this great American poisoning and I believe we already have a playbook on how to do it. Thank you.

Miriam Grossman, a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, states that sex is established at conception and recognized at birth, not assigned. She argues that the claim that sex is assigned at birth lacks scientific basis and misleads people into thinking that male and female are arbitrary designations. Grossman notes that Dr. McNamara claims social and medical interventions are the only evidence-based treatment and are life-saving, warning of suicides without them. However, Grossman points out that a growing number of countries have banned such care without a resulting wave of suicides. Finland, Sweden, and Norway have placed strict limitations on medical interventions for minors, with Sweden citing a case of osteoporosis and spinal fractures from puberty blockers. The UK called the evidence very low. The National Academy of Medicine in France warned of undesirable complications from these therapies. Doctors in New Zealand and Australia have published similar statements. Finland's gender expert, Dr. Rita Caltiella, called the promotion of the idea that these interventions are life-saving "purposeful disinformation." Grossman concludes that these countries and Florida have decided that children don't need their development interrupted.

Speaker 0: My name is Miriam Grossman. I'm a board certified child adolescent and adult psychiatrist, author, and senior fellow at Do No Harm. I have been taking care of patients for 45 years. First, I'm struck by her use of the phrase, sex assigned at birth. Sex is not assigned at birth. Sex is established at conception, and it's recognized at birth, if not earlier. Doctor McNamara claims that her views are science based, but to claim that sex is assigned at birth is without any scientific basis whatsoever. Its language misleads people, especially children, into thinking that male and female are arbitrary designations and can change. That is simply not true. Doctor McNamara claims that social and medical interventions are the only evidence based treatment and that scientific evidence shows it is life saving. Without it, she's warning us kids will commit suicide. Well, a growing number of countries have effectively banned the care to which she's referring. And thank God, there's been no wave of suicides or other mental health catastrophes. 3 years ago, Finland placed strict limitations on medical interventions for minors. Sweden did the same thing after a 14 year old girl was found to have osteoporosis and spinal fractures from puberty blockers. An investigation concluded, quote, the risks of anti puberty, evidence very low. They They've also placed severe restrictions on the care that doctor McNamara calls life saving. Norway also analyzed the data and has made similar changes in policy. The National Academy of Medicine in France warned, quote, great medical caution must be taken in children adolescents given the vulnerability of this population and the many undesirable even serious complications the therapies cause. Doctors in New Zealand and Australia have published similar statements. Is doctor McNamara suggesting that all these countries are rejecting evidence based treatment and placing their kids at risk of suicide? Regarding that point of view, Finland's gender expert, doctor Rita Caltiella, said, quote, it's purposeful, this disinformation, the spreading of which is irresponsible. All 7 countries and Florida too, of course, concluded that kids don't need their development interrupted. The girls don't need their periods stopped and their voices lowered, and the boys don't need to grow breasts. My name is Miriam Grossman. I wonder what could incentivize farmers and homeowners in NC to sell their land to Piedmont Lithium, especially since they sit on valuable lithium. Could a disaster, like an unusual hurricane, push them to sell? It reminds me of Lahaina, where it felt like their land was taken. What do you think?

@Lisahudsonchow7 - Lisa πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ’‹πŸŒΉπŸ·

Here’s a hypothetical … If the farmers and homeowners in NC wouldn’t sell their land to Piedmont Lithium, I wonder what could be done to incentivize them to sell? These people are sitting on lithium which is worth billions. Maybe a flood from a hurricane that didn’t seen like a normal hurricane? Do you think losing everything they own would make them sell? It still looks a lot like Lahaina to me. They wanted it, and they took it. Thoughts?

The discussion highlights lithium mining in Chile, part of the "lithium triangle," where nearly a third of the world's lithium is produced. One plant can power about 50,000 electric vehicles annually, with potential to reach 75,000. The Salar de Atacama boasts the best lithium brines globally, containing approximately 2,000 parts per million of lithium, making it the most cost-effective production location. Lithium is extracted through brine mining, where salty water is evaporated in ponds, concentrating the lithium. Despite high demand and limitless resources, Chile is losing market share to Australia and Argentina. Experts emphasize the need for Chile to quickly increase production before other countries surpass them or new battery technology emerges. Chile's president has announced a state-led plan for lithium industry development. Separately, it is mentioned that Piedmont Lithium has bought homes in North Carolina for a project.

Speaker 0: What does this mean? This is North Carolina here. What what does this mean? Edmont Lithium has bought local homes to make room for their project. Did did North Carolina have some kind of lithium mine or something? Hey, Speaker 1: guys. Number 20, 21, and I think number 9's in the back there. Go My cows are mad right now because they want to move into the other field. But I'm making them wait till the rain lets up in the afternoon because I have to, refence a certain set Speaker 2: This is what lithium mining looks like in Chile. Here in the Salar de Atacama, in a region of the world known as the lithium triangle, nearly 1 third of the world's lithium is produced from brines. So from this plant here, how many electric vehicles are you powering? Speaker 3: Today, about 50,000. And we should be able to get up to 75,000 EVs every single year. Speaker 2: With demand for electric vehicles and the lithium ion batteries that power them at an all time high, Chile's vast salt flats have become a vital national resource. They contain the largest and some of the highest quality lithium reserves in the world. Speaker 3: This the Salar de Atacama represents the best lithium brines in the world because it has about 2,000 parts per million of lithium concentrated in it. This is also the most cost effective place to produce lithium in the world. Speaker 2: In the brine mining process, extremely salty water from an underground reservoir is pumped to the surface and evaporated in large, extravagantly colored ponds, leaving high concentrations of lithium behind. Speaker 1: The demand for it is skyrocketing. The price of it is skyrocketing. And the capacity that Chile has to exploit this resources is almost limitless. Speaker 2: But Chile is actually losing market share to Australia, where lithium is mined from hard rock, and Argentina, where the country is welcoming international investment. Many say that Chile must act fast to ramp production before other countries beat them to it or new battery tech is developed. Speaker 4: It's not clear how big a window of opportunity Chile has to take advantage of this white gold. Speaker 2: Now Chile's president, Gabriel Borics, has announced the long awaited state led plan for the development of the country's lithium industry. Speaker 4: Chile has to take advantage of this white gold. To take advantage of this white gold. Speaker 2: News in Hawaii right now at least a 1000 people are still missing as the deadly wildfires.

I can't believe this! A man was rescuing people from the mountain, but the fire chief warned him he'd be arrested if he went back. He had to abandon someone up there. Why are they refusing help and supplies? The victims are without water, food, or electricity! What is happening?

This is crazy! This man was rescuing people off of the mountain. He was told by the fire chief that if he went back they would arrest him. He had to leave the man alone on the mountain. Listen! What is going on? Why are they turning help and supplies away? These victims have no water, food, or electricity. WHY?

A pilot, Sinem, and his son flew to Black Mountain to assist with rescue efforts. Sinem landed near an older couple needing help, leaving his son on the mountainside due to unstable conditions. After rescuing one person, Sinem coordinated with a rescue team leader, but the Lake Lure fire chief shut down the operation, ordering Sinem to leave and threatening arrest if he returned for his copilot. Sinem initially complied, apologizing to the stranded woman, but was upset about leaving her husband behind. As he left to retrieve his son, the initial rescue team leader offered a designated landing spot if he returned with the victim. Sinem believes a flight restriction was implemented shortly after the confrontation with the fire chief, suspecting it wasn't coincidental. He regrets not continuing rescues until facing arrest. The Lake Lure fire official's name is being withheld pending their response.

Speaker 0: You wanna go back out and and try to help today? And his his response was, there's so many messages. I I don't think we can't not go help. Speaker 1: Sinem and his son were headed up to Black Mountain. Flight tracking shows no flight restrictions in place Saturday or Sunday morning when Sittem flew through the Lake Lure gap, but that was all about to change. The Sittem spotted an older couple waving for help then landed in what's left of their driveway. Hey. Speaker 2: I want you to, let me get in. You step out and go out. Help her in. Put her bag in the back. Get her strapped in. I'm a take her down. Come back. I'll take him. I'll come back, and then I'll get you. Okay? Speaker 0: I originally left my son, copilot, on the side of the mountain. It was it it was kind of unstable, so I didn't want to put more weight in the helicopter to lift back off. So I left my son with the other victim, and and I was just gonna take one person down at the time. And and you could hear me in the video talking through with the victims and with my son what we're gonna do. Speaker 1: 3 minutes away, Sidham spotted a group of rescuers just down the river. He landed and found someone in charge. Speaker 0: I told him, my background experience, law enforcement, firefighting, pilot. He immediately started helping with coordination. He gave me radio frequencies to coordinate with them on, set up a landing area for me to come back with the other victim. And in the middle of the whole conversation and then blocking the road off, I was greeted by the, at that time I didn't know, but Lake Lure fire chief or assistant chief maybe. And he shut down the whole operation. So at that point there was I felt like the conversation wasn't going any further. And again, he asked me to leave and I said, hey, I have no problem getting out of your area. If that's what you want us to do, we'll leave no issue. At that point, I asked him, you know, what was the reason I had to leave them there? And he said, again, you're interfering with my operation. I I just need you to get out of the area. I said, sir, I I don't know where you were trained at, but I know how my training is, and I'm not gonna leave personnel behind. I'm I'm going back to get my copilot. He said, if you turn around and go back up the mountain, you're gonna be arrested. I said, well, sir, I'm I'm going back to get my copilot. I don't know what to tell you. And he said, I'm I'm letting you know. And at that point, he waited for 2 law enforcement officers to come over and told me that again, if I go back up the mountain, I would be arrested. Speaker 1: He flew the 3 minute trip back, picked up his son, and left the woman's husband behind. Speaker 0: Sure he was flooded with emotions and and trying to rescue other people and I I just felt that it was best at the time to leave. So I did follow his instructions and I had a conversation with the female victim before I left, apologizing and explaining. She she was standing there. She heard the whole conversation. And, they were both very, very surprised, very upset. The husband, as I was leaving off of the side of the mountain at that point, separated from his wife, he was he was upset. I can only imagine. Speaker 1: Cinnamon is nearly 1400 flight hours, turned his chopper around, and headed back to South Carolina, passing people waving for help along the way. Speaker 0: As I was actually leaving to go back to get my son, the original chief or or captain that I spoke to, his crew and and himself, they they came back over and said, hey, man. We we can't tell you to go get the victim. We can't even ask you to go get the victim, but we can tell you if you come back with the victim, we'll have you a designated landing spot and they they won't we'll make sure they don't come over here. Speaker 1: So there was no flight restriction when you went in? Speaker 0: No. No flight restriction when I went in. It went in place 20 or 30 minutes after the confrontation with mister Speaker 1: You feel like that was coincidental or do you think that that was because of what happened? Speaker 0: I don't think it can be coincidental when there has not been one in place the day before doing rescue operations, the night of, the morning of that took place after our altercation. I think there would have never been a TFR put in place had we not had that conversation. If I had to do it over again, I would have stopped and I would have rescued as many people until they decided they were gonna arrest me. Speaker 1: Well, for now, we've chosen not to name that Lake Lure fire official because communications in and out of that town are still difficult. We wanna include his side in this story, and if and when he responds to our messages, we will include that. The good news is I saw a video of a coast guard helicopter landing in Lake Lure this morning, so hopefully some of those mountain rescues are underway today. From page 1, Jodi Barr.

Speaker 0: News alert breaking right now. Word of a major breach of security on Capitol Hill. At least 7 people who work for the comedian Stephen Colbert were arrested and jailed last night for breaching the Capitol building. Uh-huh. Here's what we know right now. Capitol police were called around 8:30 PM Thursday night for a disturbance at the Longworth House office building. These individuals who we've confirmed work for the late show were seen roaming the building while it was closed to visitors. A what? Capitol police say they did not have congressional IDs and were not authorized to be walking around without an escort. They were booked, and they spent the night in jail. Congressional sources tell us they were filming a skit on the January 6th hearings and were banging on the doors of offices. People like congressman Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, Republicans, you know the deal. 1 of the individuals, Robert Smigel, was pictured when he was in the capitol yesterday. Woah. Smigel's a comedian who's appeared on the Colbert show several times as you can see here. The name of the others who were on Capitol Hill from the show are Jake Plunkett, Allison Martinez, Tyrone Dean, Steven Romand, Nicoletta Green, Brendan Hurley, Josh Comers, and David Feldman. Oh my god. I wanna point out these were not low level people working for Colbert. We can confirm that Jake Plunkett is a senior producer and director at the show. Speaker 1: Mhmm. Alright. Speaker 0: Josh Comers is a writer. Allison Martinez is an associate producer. Who let them into the capitol without authorization? Well, according to a congressional source, it was the democrats. Congressman Adam Schiff and Jake Auchincloss. Congressman Rodney Davis sits on the committee of house administration and oversees Capitol Police. So, congressman, is there an official investigation of this taking place right now? Yes. Definitely. Speaker 1: Well, this is so new, Jesse. We just found out about the arrest today, and I'm going to make sure that when we get back to Washington next week, we're going to ask the questions that need to be asked. We'll ask the security officials why these arrests had to be made. What were they doing without an escort at a time when, you know, the January 6th select committee on the 50th anniversary of Watergate, made it look like my colleague Barry Loudermilk somehow took kids with gift bags to do reconnaissance missions. And let me put it to you this way too, Jesse. The only people arrested by Capitol Police for touring the house office buildings are the people who work for Stephen Colbert. Speaker 0: Yeah. It's ironic, isn't it? And, we've reached out to the Capitol Police, and they've confirmed this with us. They said it's an ongoing criminal investigation, and, US attorneys are involved. They are charged with unlawful entry, which if I'm not mistaken, that is the exact same charge my behavior, the drinking Oh my god. As many of the January 6th protesters were charged with. Is that right? Speaker 1: Yeah. Certainly seems to be, Jesse. Speaker 0: So what happens with Adam Schiff now and this other congressman Auchincloss? Are they complicit in this breach of Capitol Hill Security? Speaker 1: That's why we've gotta get more information. That's why we need an investigation. We need to make sure that we understand who in their offices brought these individuals in. It's my Yes. Speaker 0: That's awesome. Speaker 1: It's my understanding that these individuals were brought in by someone associated with Adam Schiff's office. They were over in the capitol building or the canon building, trying to be around where the credential media were supposed to be stationed in the midst of the January 6th hearing yesterday. Hello there. The credential media were the ones I'm hearing that had them had them escorted out the first time yesterday, and then they came back. And it's my understanding they were offered a way back into the house office buildings by a staffer who worked for the other member of congress. Then they were they were they were actually seen, they were actually seen banging on the doors of people like Kevin McCarthy's office, Jim Jordan's office. What were they doing? Why were they there? And frankly, I I'm interested in asking the capitol police. Spicy meat. Yeah, boy. What did they do to make sure they got arrested, and what's going to be the final adjudication? Speaker 0: Well, that's an important question. We might have to have hearings. We might have to have, our own committee to investigate this sort of CBS News breach of the Capitol. Obviously, they were way too

Department Homeland Security that doesn't actually secure the homeland? Everybody thankful for an FBI that went after Scott Smith and labeled him a domestic terrorist for daring to defend his daughter in a school board meeting because she was assaulted in a bathroom? Anybody thankful for the IRS knocking on your door, auditing the poor and the minorities 3 to 5 times more? People thankful for that? Are you thankful for the EPA or the Department of Interior that set a man to prison because he had some ponds on his ranch in Montana? We have a government that is weaponized against the American people and is undermining our liberties, and they want more of it. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle want more, more government. They want more taxes. They want more spending. They want more bureaucrats knocking on your door.

Speaker 0: Now the first $51,000,000 that this council gave to the migrants came from the opioid settlement funds. I am here on behalf of the Jones family, on behalf of the 37th Ward, on behalf of Black Chicago, on behalf of the entire city, to ask you all to vote no and put that money back in a opioid settlement fund. We need that money in my neighborhood. We need that on my block. That woman should not be at Cook County Jail because she's grieving over a random act of violence that caused her to lose her child in front of her face when the city of Chicago has 1,000,000 upon 1,000,000 upon 1,000,000 of dollars to give to people who ain't paid a dime into the tax base. We've been in my building for 52 years. We about to pay some more taxes. The Jones family has been in their building for 45 years, paying taxes every year on time. So I'm asking y'all to use our tax money for our people. We need it. We got people leaning. We got people rocking. We got overdosing. We got, pass out lines. You live on the west side, mayor Johnson. You know exactly what I'm talking about. We need the money for us.
