Republicans to meet allies of Hungary's Viktor OrbÑn on ending the Ukraine war - The Guardian 🧡 1/3 https://t.co/oYYoXzELQq

Video Transcript AI Summary
Hungary's authoritarian leader Viktor Orban is meeting with Republicans in Washington to push for an end to US military aid to Ukraine. This aligns with the growing alliance between America's far right wing and Europe's, as seen earlier this year when Orban hosted high-profile MAGA supporters at CPAC Hungary. Orban's remarks at the event revealed his opposition to LGBTQ rights and "woke culture," while promoting Hungary as an incubator for conservative policies. It's no surprise that American right-wing figures, including Tucker Carlson, have been supportive of Orban's fascist dictatorship. This alliance poses a threat to democracy and plays into the hands of Putin, who favors Orban's policies. President Biden, on the other hand, will be hosting Ukraine's president at the White House.

Speaker 0: And we begin tonight with the American hard rights bear hug of the European hard right. Hungary's authoritarian leader Viktor Orban, Europe's leading defender of fascism, has long been a right wing idol for Republicans trying to destroy democracy here at home. So it should perhaps come as no surprise that according to The Guardian, This week, allies of Orban will hold a closed door meeting with Republicans in Washington, including members of Congress, to push for an end to US military aid to Ukraine. They probably won't have to push too hard since stopping Ukraine would be a gift to Russian president Vladimir Putin, the Russians' other favorite strongman. And it comes amid some counterprogramming of sorts as president Biden will be hosting Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky, at the White House on Tuesday. The Republicans' embrace of Putin friendly policies by way of Viktor Orban is just the latest in a growing alliance building between America's far right wing and Europe's. Earlier this year, Orban hosted some of America's most high profile MAGA foot soldiers at CPAC, Hungary, including failed Arizona senate candidate and Trump superfan Carrie Lake and longtime white nationalist sympathizer, Arizona congressman Paul Gosar. And Orban's remarks at CPAC Hungary make clear why his American hard right admirers see Hungary's fascist dictatorship as a model for the US. He denounced LGBTQ rights and what he called woke culture and told his audience of international right wingers, quote, No migration, no gender, no war. Adding, Hungary is actually an incubator where experiments are done on the future of conservative policies. Hungary is the place where we didn't just talk about defeating the progressives and the liberals and causing a conservative Christian political turn, but we actually did it. It's no wonder then that America's own fascist right agrees and has been on a years long campaign to make it happen. In 2021, one of Orban's biggest US cheerleaders, Tucker Carlson, took his Fox show to Budapest for a week.

Conservative hardliners on the Supreme Court helped usher in abortion bans in red states 🧡 1/3 https://t.co/mjrLjfFP1H

Video Transcript AI Summary
Throughout history, antidemocratic and pro-authoritarian movements have consistently targeted reproductive rights. Examples include forced abortions in China and abortion bans in Poland. The decision to have a baby should be left to the individual, but authoritarian governments impose their will. Even during the Nazi occupation of France, abortion was punishable by death. Germany only recently repealed a Nazi-era law banning doctors from providing abortion information. Mussolini criminalized abortion in fascist Italy, subjecting women to hard labor. In the US, Republicans stacked the Supreme Court with anti-abortion conservatives, leading to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Republican-controlled states have since implemented abortion bans, with some even proposing to charge abortion as homicide.

Speaker 0: Antidemocratic pro authoritarian movements, the world over and throughout history always stomp on reproductive rights. In some cases, they mandate forced abortions like in China. More often like with the law party in Poland, it's an abortion ban. Right? In in either case, you get the point. Reproductive freedom cannot be tolerated. Heaven forbid a woman sides on her own whether or not she wants to have a baby. It's a government decision to force you to give birth or not regardless of what you want or what's good for you. It is an authoritarian project everywhere there is authoritarian governance. In in Vichy France, when France was occupied by the Nazis seized and controlled by the Vichy collaborationist regime. Vichy authorities in France took the time. You think they might have other stuff to worry about. They took the time in July 1943 to guillotine a woman, to execute a woman by guillotine in 1943 for the crime of performing abortions. Abortion was not just illegal, it was punishable by the death penalty when France was occupied by the Nazis. That law was only dropped when France was liberated by the allies. Germany itself only last year repealed a Nazi era law that banned German doctors from providing information about abortions. They finally got rid of that last year. In fascist Italy, abortion had already been against the law before he came to power. But when Mussolini became the fascist dictator of Italy, he aggressively criminalized it. He made any woman who got an abortion subject to 5 years at hard labor. Heaven forbid, that a woman be free to decide on her own terms if she wants to have a baby. In the Trump presidency, Republicans finally succeeded in their machinations to stack the US Supreme Court with hard line anti abortion conservatives, And then they were able to get through the policy they most wanted. They overturned Roe versus Wade, and that allowed Republican controlled states all over the country to ban abortion. And even those bans have not been enough for Republicans in in many states. Republicans are now proposing in the state of Missouri, for example, that abortion be charged as homicide, that abortion be charged criminally as murder.

They're seeking a life term. And so I do think the country has to wake up to that. It's not just a 2nd term. It's a life term. We are talking about someone who, as we've covered in the criminal legal context, is literally going on trial forever to overthrow the election. Now that's a legal process, and he's presumed innocent. He could still walk. But in the political electoral process, if you are going to give your vote to someone who's already tried to steal your vote very bluntly, graphically, and publicly, well, that might be the last vote you get to cast. And given how brittle the feelings are to the point where many Americans they're afraid to say anything at all, we should be able to agree on a few fundamentals. First, that it is wrong to kill children. Whether they are Israeli children or Palestinian children, it is wrong to kill kids in a concert field or in a kibbutz or in a hospital. In fact, it is morally repugnant. If we can't agree on that, then we can't be friends. We should also agree that antisemitism is wrong. Full stop. Period. And it should horrify everyone that we're seeing attacks against Jewish people here and abroad, like the online messages threatening violence against Jewish students at Cornell University or the anti Semitic mob that stormed an airport tarmac in Russia, apparently searching for Jewish passengers on a flight from Israel, or the Heil Hitler message projected on an interstate overpass in Georgia. None of this is okay, needless to say. And no matter how you feel about the government in Israel and what that government does, that is not an excuse to take out your anger on individual Jewish people, whether they're Americans or Israelis or British or random passengers on a plane. Keep in mind, some of your strongest allies in your outrage on behalf of Palestinians are Jewish. They are protesting beside you and getting arrested with you at those protests. And many of them are walking around in shock and horror and fear right now because of October 7th, worrying about their families and wondering who their friends are. Likewise, you can't judge every Palestinian or every Muslim or every Arab based on what Hamas did any more than you could have judged every American by the fact that some Americans elected a religious extremist, an religious extremist backed wannabe autocrat, and now multiple indicted criminal whose MAGA movement tried to violently overthrow the government and still might. And, again, it should be needless to say, being for Palestinians' freedom and staying alive does not mean you love Hamas or support them.

After the assassination, doubts emerged about the official story, leading to various conspiracy theories. The single bullet theory from the Warren Commission report is a key piece of evidence. It suggests that a bullet from the 6th floor of the building entered Kennedy's back, exited his neck, hit Connally in the armpit, broke his ribs, went into his wrist, and then into his thigh. However, the Zapruder film, which was released later, shows that Connally turned to his right before getting hit, indicating that the bullet that went through Kennedy couldn't have hit Connally. Connally himself maintained this until his death, suggesting another shooter and a conspiracy.

Speaker 0: Pretty soon after the assassination, we got the official story as to what happened that day. Their doubts began to emerge, and these conspiracy theories have certainly taken hold, alternate theories of what happened. And you mentioned in the podcast in the 2nd episode, you talk about the infamous single bullet theory from the Warren Commission report into the assassination. Tell us about it, and tell us why you have such skepticism. Speaker 1: Well, if you look at that 1 piece of evidence, the single bullet theory, the entire Warren Commission rests on it. And you have to believe that a shot from the 6th floor of that building entered Kennedy's back 6 to 8 inches below his neck, then traveled upward and came out of his neck, Stopped in midair and made a turn hitting Connally. Governor Connally was sitting in front of him, hitting him in the armpit, breaking some ribs, Exiting, making another turn, going into his wrist, breaking his wrist bones, making another turn, and going into his thigh. Now, If you believe that, I don't know what else to tell you. The the one thing that people don't know is that They didn't see the Zapruder film. They never saw that at that time when when the Warren Commission report came out. Once the Zapruder film was released, and it was released on Geraldo Rivera show in the seventies. You can see, Connally sitting in front of Kennedy. You can see Kennedy go to his throat to hold his throat like this, and Connally turns to his right To see what's going on behind him so he didn't get hit, and then he gets hit by a bullet. So So there's no way that the bullet that went through Kennedy could have possibly gone through Connally. And Connally, to the day he died, said The bullet that hit Kennedy didn't go and hit me. So there had to be another shooter, and the shooter had to be in some other position. That in itself says there's a conspiracy, and there's no question about it. It was a conspiracy
