This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system. I am not fearful — I am fearless. We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights. https://t.co/X9U0EsHuGM

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president's desperate weaponization of our justice system. These charges are baseless, and the president's own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution at any cost. The president's actions are a grave violation of our constitutional order and have drawn sharp criticism from members of both parties. His decision to fire a United States Attorney who refused to bring charges against me and replace them with someone who was blindly loyal not to the law, but to the president is antithetical to the bedrock principles of our country. I stand strongly behind my office's litigation against the Trump Organization. Judges have upheld the trial court's finding that Donald Trump, his company, and his two sons are liable for fraud.

Speaker 0: This is nothing more than a continuation of the president's desperate weaponization of our justice system. He is forcing federal law enforcement agencies to do his bidding, all because I did my job as the New York state attorney general. This is the time for leaders on both sides of the aisle to speak out against this blatant perversion of our system of justice. I stand strongly behind my office's litigation against the Trump Organization. We conducted a two year investigation based on the facts and evidence, not politics. Judges have upheld the trial court's finding that Donald Trump, his company, and his two sons are liable for fraud. I'm a proud woman of faith, and I know that faith and fear cannot share the same space. And so today, I'm not fearful. I'm fearless. And as my faith teaches me, no weapon formed against me shall prosper. We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights. And I will continue to do my job.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is suing Donald Trump, his three eldest children, and their company for $250,000,000, alleging a decade-long fraud. The 220-page lawsuit accuses Trump of preparing hundreds of fraudulent financial statements, inflating the value of nearly every major property he owns. James alleges Trump's company claimed a dozen rent-stabilized apartments were worth $49,500,000 when appraised at $750,000, and that a New York property was declared to be worth $524,000,000, even though an appraiser valued it at $200,000,000. James is seeking to recover $250,000,000 in allegedly unlawful profits and a permanent ban on Trump and his children from leading any New York company. She stated that claiming to have money that you do not have is the "art of the steal," and that former presidents are not exempt from the law.

Speaker 0: New York attorney general Letitia James is alleging in a civil suit that Donald Trump and three of his adult children engaged in a decade's worth of fraud, inflating Trump's net worth by billions of dollars. Speaker 1: Tonight, the bombshell lawsuit, the state of New York versus Donald Trump. New York's attorney general announcing her office is suing the former president, his three eldest children, and their family company for $250,000,000. Speaker 2: In her 220 page lawsuit, James accuses Trump of preparing hundreds of fraudulent financial statements, overstating the value of nearly every major property he owns, from golf courses to hotels to his own triplex apartment in Trump Tower. Speaker 3: And when it comes to faking the numbers, Leticia James isn't. She has the receipts, over 200 of them, including his company claiming that a dozen rent stabilized apartments were worth more than $49,500,000 when in fact they had been appraised at a combined $750,000. That is 65 times less money. Speaker 4: She says declaring a New York property was $524,000,000, even though an appraiser valued it at just 200,000,000. Speaker 3: James is seeking to recover $250,000,000 in allegedly unlawful profits, and a permanent ban on Trump and his children from serving as top leaders in any New York company. Speaker 5: Claiming you have money that you do not have does not amount to the art of the deal. It's the art of the steal. And there cannot be different rules for different people in this country or in this state. And former presidents are no different.

In 2014, when bidding to buy the Buffalo Bills, Donald Trump claimed his net worth was over $8 billion. In reality, his net worth was no more than $1.4 billion. Yet another fumble. https://t.co/WHvzNkeHPI
