Congressman says H-1B is “critical” to fix the doctor shortage. Reality: In NC, 97.7% of H-1Bs aren’t medical and most of the 2.3% “medical” roles aren’t doctors at all. We’ve got visas for physical therapists, medical scientists, and hospitalists… while capping U.S. med school seats, burying students in debt, and shutting out military medics and rural kids with 4.0s. This isn’t about patients. It’s about keeping corporate medicine stocked with cheaper labor.

Extremely disturbing trend is allowing physicians trained overseas to practice in the US wo American training. Medical Education overseas is NOT of the same quality as that in the US. Patients will suffer.

H1-B Visas are critical for helping alleviate the severe physician shortage this nation faces. We cannot train enough American Doctors fast enough. We can’t let lack of knowledge of the importance of this program to affect patient care.

So troublesome to see so many young doctors complaining about how hard the job is. Your job is about taking care of patients. It’s called dedication. It’s called devotion. If you wanted an easy life, you should’ve chosen something else.
