@RepMikeLawler - Congressman Mike Lawler

Unlike some of my colleagues who are recycling the same talking points, I’m willing to work across the aisle to avoid a shutdown. I’d encourage Leader Jeffries and the Democrats trying to politicize a shutdown to join me on Problem Solvers’ bipartisan short-term funding bill.

Speaker 0: It's always great to listen to D Triple C Talking Points. At a very time when leader Jeffries, said, that he would not politicize, this potential shutdown in a meeting of the Problem Solvers Caucus. That very day the D Triple C and House Majority Forward announced $1,000,000 ad campaigns, mail TV attacking individuals like me on the issue of a shutdown despite me saying very clearly that I oppose a shutdown. So we know that on the other side, they actually want a shutdown. They relish it because they think it will benefit them politically. But here's what you never hear from them. They don't want to deal with the border. They don't want to shut down the border. They don't want to deal with spending cuts. They want to increase spending. They don't want to deal with our long term debt. They want to blow it through the roof. We have real challenges in this country. And yes, we need to work in a bipartisan manner. But when Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, is saying that the migrant crisis is destroying New York City, that it's gonna cost them more than $12,000,000,000. When Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York, says there's no more room at the Inn despite sanctuary city policies, right to shelter, the use of taxpayer money to free housing, health care, education, clothing, and food to illegal immigrants, and a refusal to cooperate with ICE and law enforcement, spare me your righteous indignation. None of you are willing to actually tackle the challenges. You're looking to use this as a vehicle to win back the majority. That's it. I'm actually willing to work across the aisle. I signed on to the Problem Solver Solver CR. Join us in that. Not a single one of you have.
