The Maine House passed a bill to allocate electoral votes nationally, disregarding Maine's majority vote. Supporters claim it minimizes Maine's voice, but I haven't heard a convincing argument. This benefits Democrats historically and prioritizes party over the people's voice. Representatives who voted yes should be voted out. The electoral college was meant to support states like Maine.

Yesterday the Maine House passed the bill that would have us someday hand over Maine’s electoral votes to the Presidential candidate that receives the most votes nationally…even if Maine overwhelmingly votes for the other candidate. This bill is not imminently impacting, but it shows these legislators true loyalties. I have yet to hear a valid argument that this gives Maine a bigger voice. I have heard (several times) that “this barely minimizes Maine’s voice.” The key is that this likely helps democrats (historically speaking) due to the help of the big city votes. The reality is all YES votes prioritized their political party over the voice of the people of Maine. If this is your rep, they need to be voted out this year. The electoral college was put into place to help states like Maine.
