CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery. America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons. Watch and share his message. https://t.co/Rz7HcWFLYM

Donald Trump’s Pentagon nominees can mumble and backtrack all they want, but their own tweets don’t lie. Our military’s loyalty is to the Constitution, not to any politician. https://t.co/O9bmY4lxLG

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are doing everything they can to make it harder for seniors to get their Social Security benefits. It's just plain ugly. I’m fighting back. https://t.co/ki08VJ5Nhh

Social Security is a program Americans pay into during their working lives, with 73 million people depending on it for financial security in retirement. It is claimed that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are breaking the "sacred promise" of Social Security. While Congress created Social Security and only Congress can cut benefits, it is alleged that Republicans are attempting to cut Social Security through the "backdoor" by making it harder to correct errors, apply for benefits, or get help when checks don't arrive. Social Security offices are reportedly closing, requiring people to travel hours for assistance, and even then, they may not receive help due to understaffing. It is asserted that these actions impose misery on people so that Elon Musk and Donald Trump can pay for tax giveaways to billionaires and corporations. The speaker urges honoring Social Security promises and requiring billionaires and corporations to pay their fair share.

Speaker 0: Social Security is a program that people pay for all of their working lives. 73,000,000 Americans depend on Social Security, and they paid for those Social Security benefits. Out of every paycheck, they were putting money into the Social Security system on the sacred promise that when the time came that they were no longer working, they would be able to count on Social Security for food, for a roof over their heads, for some real financial security. Elon Musk and Donald Trump are breaking that sacred promise. It was congress that passed the laws that created Social Security, and it is congress and only congress that can cut those Social Security benefits. So you would think, Elon Musk and Donald Trump I mean, shoot. Republicans are in the majority right here in the senate, over in the house of representatives. If they really wanna cut Social Security, then do it out in the open and introduce a bill. Have your Republican buddies introduce a bill to cut Social Security benefits. But no. They know that cuts to Social Security are deeply unpopular, deeply unpopular. They know that people who answer to the voters are very hesitant to do that. So what have they figured out a backdoor way to come in and cut Social Security? And how do they do that? Make it harder to correct an error. Make it harder to apply. Make it harder to get any help if your check doesn't arrive. They're closing Social Security offices. So instead of being able to go to the office near your home, you may have to drive an hour or two hours or three hours to get to a Social Security office. And what if in your sixties, in your seventies, in your eighties, in your nineties, you're not able to drive, you can't get to that office, well, either you give up or you find somebody who will be able to take you there. But even after you get there, you can't get the problem solved because there aren't enough people. If the Social Security office closes before you can actually get to the front of the line, too bad. Why impose that kind of misery on people around this country? Only so that Elon Musk and Donald Trump can pay for tax giveaways to a handful of billionaires and billionaire corporations. This is fundamentally wrong. We need to get our priorities straight. We need to honor our sacred promises under Social Security, and we need to tell those billionaires and billionaire corporations they can pay their fair share to make this country work.

I just got back from Donald Trump's inauguration. If it's any indication of what Trump's second term will look like, it'll be great for his billionaire donors and giant corporations, and pain and costs for everyone else. https://t.co/EFkhrIGc7l

Just returned from Trump's inauguration, where he threatened war with Panama but ignored health care. He announced executive actions that won't help families struggling to pay bills or lower living costs. Meanwhile, billionaires paid $1 million to sit in the front row, revealing who truly holds power. Today feels like a gut punch, and things may get worse. Trump excels at creating chaos to push harmful policies that benefit the wealthy. We must remain focused and resist his hateful agenda. To those fearful of the future, remember, we are not powerless. Our actions matter. We fight for those we don't know and those different from us. Together, we can make a real difference. Stay engaged.

Speaker 0: I just got back from Donald Trump's inauguration. Trump talked about threatening war with Panama, but he didn't say one word about health care. He announced a slew of executive actions that won't lower the price of eggs, won't make it any easier for you to buy a house, won't ease the panic that many families face each month when they try to pay their bills. And the billionaires paid 1,000,000 to sit in the front row in front of Trump's own cabinet nominees. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about who's gonna be calling the shots. Look. I know that today feels like a gut punch, and it's going to get worse. It's ugly. It's painful. It's not even surprising. Donald Trump is great at distracting us with chaos. All so he can jam through terrible policies that will make hardworking people's lives worse and billionaires' lives better. Us, we've got to stay focused. We've got to hold the line against every hateful thing that Donald Trump tries to do. We've gotta stay in the fight. So to everyone who is afraid of what happens next, I share your fears. But remember this, we are not powerless. What we do matters. We are the people who are willing to fight for someone we don't know, someone who may look different from us, someone who may live far, far away. And when we fight, we can make a real difference. Stay in this.

We don't need another private equity deal that could lead to higher food prices for consumers. The @FTC is right to investigate whether the purchase of @SUBWAY by the same firm that owns @jimmyjohns and @McAlistersDeli creates a sandwich shop monopoly. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/11/21/feds-probe-10b-deal-for-subway-sandwich-chain-00128268
