It's "immoral" now? Are they going to censor that too? 🤦 https://t.co/bjRmumB81R

Speaker 0 accuses the Liberal government of attempting to censor Canadians online through bills like C-11, C-18, and C-63. They claim these bills give the Liberals control over online algorithms, squeeze out independent media, and criminalize thought. The speaker alleges that cabinet ministers are competing to oversee the latest online censorship law. Speaker 1 responds by stating that Google agreed to pay $100 million to support Canadian journalism. They accuse the Conservative Party of opposing this initiative, which they claim would prevent deaths and hinder the media from receiving funding for local content and journalists. The speaker deems this opposition unthinkable and immoral.

Speaker 0: Mister speaker, baseless smears like that are why these Liberals can't be trusted to regulate speech in this country. For years, this Liberal government has determined to censor what Canadians see and say online. From bill c 11, which put the Liberals in control of YouTube algorithms, to bill c 18, which squeezed out small and independent media, and to their thought crime bill c 63. Now we learn in the National Post that cabinet ministers over there are all clamoring over who gets to be responsible for the latest online censorship law. So will the minister who gets to censor what Canadians say please reveal themselves now? Speaker 1: The honorable minister. Even even Google agreed that they should do this. Google will pay a $100,000,000 to help Canadian journalism in this country. An an international US based company would agree to do that, but the Conservative Party of Canada would vote against this, would prevent deaths from happening, would want to prevent our media from getting $100,000,000 so that there's more local content, more journalists hired in our newsroom across the country. It is simply unthinkable. It is immoral, mister speaker.

When facing immediate survival needs like paying rent or buying groceries, it's easy to deprioritize climate change. Instinctively, during tough times, the focus shifts to short-term concerns. However, we cannot afford to ignore climate change, as it requires long-term attention and action. Unfortunately, there is significant political messaging that contradicts this necessity.

Speaker 0: It's really, really easy when you're in a short term survive. I gotta be able to pay the rent this month. I gotta be able to buy groceries for my kids to say, okay, let's put climate change as a slightly lower priority. And that's something that's instinctive. When the storm comes, you wanna hunker down and just sort of huddle up and wait for it to blow over. We can't do that around climate change. And unfortunately, we have an awful lot of political amplification of the kind of narrative that is directly opposed to that.

Ontario PC MPP @BramptonGraham is CALLING OUT Justin Trudeau's revolving door justice system after a MASSIVE crime ring bust caught multiple repeat offenders. https://t.co/JPjBPY1pY7

Video Transcript AI Summary
Project Warlock led to 18 arrests for violent crimes, with suspects often re-offending while out on bail. The speaker criticizes the justice system for allowing repeat offenders to harm innocent people. They call for meaningful bail reform, emphasizing the need for federal government action. The police and local authorities have done their part, now it's time for the government to step up.
Full Transcript
Speaker 0: When I was briefed on project warlock, I was dismayed to hear that several of the suspects in custody, were arrested while out on bail. And this is a story that residents are sick and tired of hearing. Repeat and violent offenders who continue to walk our streets because of the revolving door justice system. I hear from police regularly about catching the same criminal 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 times. And to hear that today, police are arresting the same people who've already been previously arrested breaks my heart. Project Warlock involves 18 arrests, a 150 criminal code charges laid. That's 17 violent home invasions, armed robberies, and carjackings, guns and knives used against innocent people. Shame on our society if these individuals are allowed out on bail to do it again. I understand that it's a role of judges to interpret the law and make rulings. It's not a politician's business to get involved. Fine. But the criminal code that they're interpreting is written by politicians, specifically the federal politicians that we have in Ottawa. Premier Ford wrote a letter over a year and a half ago signed by all 13 provinces and territories in Canada, calling on prime minister Trudeau to implement meaningful bail reform. We have continued to see a revolving door justice system ever since. We've heard from the police on this, but put yourself in the victim's shoes. Imagine an armed scumbag breaks into your home, puts a gun to your head. Police do their jobs and catch the guy who did it. You expect him to go to jail. Only you see him at the gym the next day because the last criminal code let him not unveil. Enough is enough. Ontario has done its part. Peel has done its part. Peel police, they've gone above and beyond what anybody could reasonably expect of them. We need the federal government to do their part. Let's make it happen.

The committee's report on potential treasonous behavior is concerning, but no charges have been filed. The government takes foreign interference seriously, with new measures in place. The public's right to know about involved parliamentarians is debated, especially with an upcoming election. Foreign interference is a significant threat to democracy, with authoritarian regimes seeking to undermine it. Vigilance and defense of democracy are crucial in the face of global challenges. Law enforcement, not politics, should handle enforcement actions.
Full Transcript
Speaker 0: Report describes behavior that might constitute treason, and yet we've seen no charges. Does that concern you? Speaker 1: Thank you for the question. I want to start by thanking the committee, and the chair, David McGinty for their very serious work on this. I think that their work, the cross party nature of that committee, the seriousness with which they have approached this, the real way that they have been fearless in putting the national interest first in this work, is really exemplary and shows our parliament our parliamentarians at their best. Our government takes foreign interference extremely seriously. I think your question is an important one because the findings of the committee are concerning and they should be. As minister of public safety has said, we have confidence in our law enforcement bodies to do their job, And I am glad that our government has now put forward the strongest measures of any Canadian government when it comes to foreign interference, giving us, giving our law enforcement bodies the tools to act. Speaker 0: Deputy prime minister, you said that the findings are concerning, and you have confidence in law enforcement to do the work that they have to do. I guess I would ask, doesn't the public though have a right to know who these parliamentarians might be, especially as we approach an election sometime soon, possibly this year, possibly more more than likely next year? Speaker 1: Let me just say this. We take foreign interference really, really seriously, and I'm just gonna speak personally for a minute. Having worked in authoritarian regimes myself, I take the fight in the world right now between democracy and dictatorship really, really seriously. And I think it's moving to a new level. And I think Canadians should not be naive about the fact that one of the objectives of authoritarians around the world is to undermine democracies. They wanna make us think that democracy just doesn't work, and they wanna show their own people that they should accept authoritarian leadership because democracy isn't fit for purpose in the 21st century. So I think all of us should take foreign interference really seriously. As Canadians, we should be really vigilant about defending our democracy. We should recognize this is a new time and it's it's tougher. The global environment is more challenging than it has been in the past. I think the fact that we have this committee, that the committee has done such a serious job, that it has been a cross party committee is really important and is real progress. I think the fact that we have put in place legislative tools that give us more of an ability as a country to fight foreign interference is important too. And I do really want to emphasize, it needs to be law enforcement that takes the steps and takes the actions. The actual enforcement actions can't be politicized. Marco Ferriotti.

I'm grateful for my life, but I want to address some issues in Canada. Home and car insurance rates have increased due to break-ins and thefts, targeting wealthier areas. The middle class is being eradicated, as I've been saying for a while. Our taxes don't seem to benefit us much, with slow police response times and long waits for doctor appointments. The housing market is terrible, with unaffordable prices and limited options. The quality of life in Canada has declined in the past six years, and everyone is worried and struggling. Our political party is more focused on trivial matters than fixing the economy. Inflation may have gone down, but I don't feel it when I shop for groceries, fill up gas, or buy things. Prices are skyrocketing, and immediate action is needed.

Speaker 0: Before I go on this rant, I just wanna be very clear that I'm super grateful for my life because I know that this is gonna get on the wrong side of TikTok probably. Super grateful for my life and I know that a lot of us are in a better place, compared to so many people that are suffering in the world right now. But doesn't mean that as a Canadian citizen, I don't have a right to speak on how we live. Let me start off by saying, I don't know if you guys have noticed, but home insurance and and car insurance has gone up because of how many because of how many break ins there's been and how many cars have been stolen. And these people are obviously targeting more successful areas because they feel like those people have much less lose than them going to an area where people have less, no Rolexes, no purses, not expensive cars that they can get for money. Like, they're not gonna go and steal a Honda, which is completely wrong, but obviously, we knew that this was gonna happen because they're completely trying to get rid of the middle class. If you guys have been following me for a long time, I've been saying this for a very long time. And then on top of that, we pay our taxes, but we get absolutely nothing out of it. People call the police. It takes them 11 minutes Pick up the phone, then it takes him another 15 minutes to get to the place. By then, god knows what could happen to those people that are getting robbed. And then, you know, we look at our health care system, and I have to book an appointment with my doctor 3 weeks in advance, but what if I get Sick a day before, then I have to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor. When I moved from my pediatrician to my family physician when I was 18 years old, I probably see my doctor four times. I get treated at walk ins that have short lines, and I go to emergency at the hospital. 2 years ago, I got really sick. No one knew what was wrong with me. I had chronic migraines. They wanted me to wait 3 months for for an MRI. No one can figure out what was wrong with me. Then we have our housing market, the worst housing market. Nothing is affordable. High interest rates, high prices, no inventory, landlords declining everyone because they only make 60 See the $80 a year. The quality of life in Canada has gone down so much in the last 6 years. Every person, every client, anyone that I'm speaking to is in shambles right now. I don't know about you guys, But everyone is worried. Everyone's trying to save for a rainy day, but the rainy day has been over a year. Our political party is so concerned right now with having 12 year olds Being able to express themselves as cats over fixing the economy. They are doing nothing to Fix the problems in this country. Absolutely nothing. And before you come at me and tell me that if inflation has gone down, I don't I can feel it. I do not feel it. I don't feel it when I grocery shop. I don't feel it when I fill up gas. I don't feel it when I go buy something. I swear, like, 2 weeks ago, I went to Indigo. A plastic glass cup that you can get for a dollar at the dollar store was, like, $70. Something needs to be done, and something needs to be done immediately.
