A discussion on the manufacturing and labeling of vitamin C supplements took place. @Zignack pointed out that most vitamin C is made in China and mentioned the use of extraction solvents and processing aids. @drarce clarified that ascorbic acid is manufactured, not vitamin C, and emphasized that they are not the same. @Zignack referred to studies and articles that use the terms interchangeably. @drarce disagreed, stating that ascorbic acid is not vitamin C and that the misnomer misleads consumers. The conversation continued with arguments about synthetic supplements and the processing of herbs. @Zignack questioned the industry's processing methods, while @drarce explained the need for certain processing techniques for bioavailability. The conversation ended with @Zignack suggesting that @drarce's involvement in the supplement industry disqualifies them as a witness.

Did you know that most vitamin C is manufactured in China? Did you ever hear the term extraction solvent or processing aids? Elements they dont have to label because they are considered technically unavoidable. They don't have to tell you there is acetone in vitamin c supplements

@drarce - Dr. Mari

@Zignack Agreed! But it’s ascorbic acid they manufacture, not vitamin C. And no they’re not the same.

@Zignack - Danni

@drarce What the small "health companies" call vitamin C on the label IS the ascorbic acid they buy from the industry. You'll see it in studies and articles all over. They can say vitamin c (ascorbic acid) or Ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Even here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/301763006_Industrial_Fermentation_of_Vitamin_C

@Zignack Ascorbic acid is not vitamin C. They are not the same in any regard. Vitamin C for ascorbic acid is a misnomer 4 this exactly this reason - mislead people consumers to think it’s the same thing as ascorbic acid is added rather than the full complex that IS vitamin C

@Zignack - Danni

@drarce Explain that to the ones explaining the fermentation process in detail? They sell it as vitamin C. But nevertheless. You can not put sunshine and fruits into pills and powder. But it sounds a lot like you sell supplements?

@drarce - Dr. Mari

@Zignack Exactly my point. They sell it as a misnomer to dupe people. & that’s a very important point to distinguish. I never suggest anything synthetic. & yes u can, if u know how to utilize vacuum dehydration without disruption of cofactors. Herbs are supplements, they’re bad now?

@Zignack - Danni

@drarce No if herbs are in their natural state, you can eat them. But not after they've been processed by the industry. This is just an example from one of your supplements. Ask the company what the vitamin c ingredient is and where they get it. You might be surpriced. https://t.co/iDpE2MX20l

@drarce - Dr. Mari

@Zignack That’s not how botanical medicine works. In order for certain constituents to become bioavailable to humans they have to be processed a certain way, eg. decoctions, infusions, sun-dried. Same thing goes for grains and many different vegetables

@Zignack - Danni

@drarce You wanna defend your supplements, I get that. Though you're not correct. We can agree on many things but on this subject I consider you disqualified as a witness because you profit on it <3 So let's just leave it. But you should ask the company like I said.
