People that have 'naturally white teeth' share one thing in common: they all have high 'micro-hardness' of the Enamel Enamel is the layer of teeth which covers the Dentin layer. Dentin is naturally yellow because of it's composition: - 70% hydroxyapatite - 20% organic material (mainly collagen) - 10% water If the enamel is very thin or has low 'micro-hardness' light is able to penetrate through the Enamel, revealing the yellow shade of the color of the Dentin will show - giving you yellow teeth

Enamel Enamel on the other hand is almost fully crystalline and inorganic, being composed out of 96% Hydroxyapatite, which naturally reflects light. Enamel is composed of 96% hydroxyapatite, a highly crystalline mineral. Hydroxyapatite naturally reflects light and the more light that is reflected, the whiter your teeth appear. The ability of your enamel to reflect light is dependent on two things: - micro-hardness of the enamel (density of Hydroxyapatite and other minerals in the enamel) - overall thickness of the enamel this is because the enamel in their teeth has superior MICRO-HARDNESS, meaning that the enamel is denser in hydroxyapatite strong, dense enamel = white teeth weak enamel = yellow teeth

TLDR; more minerals in Enamel = more light reflected = whiter teeth to get whiter teeth you need to focus on improving 'micro-hardness' and thickness of your enamel to improve 'micro-hardness' and thickness of your enamel, you need to improve mineralization of the enamel⬇️

Magnesium Chloride flushing an in-vitro experiment from January 2016 showed that a applying a solution high in MgCl2 (magnesium chloride) improved micro-hardness of Enamel by 9.6% it does this by shrinking the size of all the nanocrystals found in the teeth, the smaller these crystals are, the denser the Enamel gets (you can see the effect it had on the shade of the teeth in the picture down below) But this makes a great argument for using sea water (which is high in MgCl2) or a self made Magnesium Chloride/water solution to swish through your mouth multiple times a day making your own MgCl2 solution is easy as fuck by the way: https://t.co/0cIudGLbb7

Molybdenum Molybdenum kinda functions the same way as Magnesium did in the paragraph above. An 0,2% Molybdenum solution in deionized water applied to the teeth increased their micro-hardness of the enamel by 31,38% increasing Molybdenum through the diet is a great way to increase salivary concentrations of this mineral: - bee pollen - nettle tea - cucumber water - shilajit

Vitamin K2 vit. K2 is crucial for the density and micro-hardness of enamel through it's prevention of ectopic expression ('abnormal functioning') of MGA (matrix Gla protein) MGA is what prevents calcium ions and other minerals to be deposited into the soft tissues and when this protein is properly expressed it leads to increased calcium/mineral deposition in the hard tissues (including enamel) K2 also improves enamel mineralization by activating Osteocalcin and working synergistically with vitamin D3 Supplementing K2 in MK-4 form or even MK-7 is a great idea although increasing your K2 intake through diet is even better K2 sources: - eel - goose liver - high quality egg yolks - hard cheeses - natto

Taking T3 to get you metabolism up is like doing Testosterone injections to get more muscle growth. Why synthetic T3 is NOT the solution (and what is): T3 (Triiodothyronine) is the bioactive Thyroid hormone, being more potent than T4 (Thyroxine). T3 plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development in the body. It helps to control the rate at which the body uses energy (metabolism), affects heart rate, body temperature, digestion, and muscle function. T3 also plays a role in regulating the production of other hormones such as multiple androgens (Testosterone, DHT), it inhibits production of stress hormones (Cortisol, Adrenaline) and also up regulates expression of various growth factors (like IGF-1) which is why it helps you to grow taller. When you want a faster metabolism, you basically want more T3 (and of course less T4 and rT3 in relation to it but that's for later). Due to this there are a ton of pro-metabolic or Peaters taking synthetic/exogenous T3 because it ' helps your metabolism'. But since when have exogenous hormones been the solution? That's like taking TRT before fixing nutrition/lifestyle first. "But I tried everything to raise my T3 and supplementing it is the only thing that worked" Like always it is a matter of knowledge, yeah you've probably put hours and hours into optimizing your metabolism etc. But I assure you that I can get just as much or even more results in a matter of minutes. Why? Knowledge. The first step is to understand that T3 is not a Thyroid hormone at all, only 20% of T3 circulating in the body is produced in the Thyroid, the remaining 80% is synthesized in the Liver mostly, by the conversion of T4 (which is a Thyroid hormone) into T3. Since this stuff all happens in the Liver it's about time you look into your liver health. @Animuscle is one of the first to talk about how mineral balance is one of the most important things when it comes to T3 production, and how Cholestasis (a condition where the flow of bile from the liver to the duodenum is impaired.) is one of the biggest things that causes mineral misbalance in the liver. Mineral balance in the Liver is essential since that is where the conversion of T4 --> T3 occurs. T3 is created by removing the Iodine atom from T4. Causes of Cholestasis include excessive intake of heavy metals, PFAS, other toxins or even an excessive intake of essential nutrients (copper, iron, retinol) Disrupted digestion is also a problem, along with deficiencies in essential nutrients. But most of the time it's all these things combined together. "So to get my T3 up I need to restore my liver health?" Yes, this is exactly what it's about. "And to restore liver health I need to make sure bile flow isn't impaired anymore?" Yes "So how do I get my bile 'flowing' again?" Okay so essentially you need to do multiple things: 1. Ensure enough bile is produced 2. Reduce exposure to toxins 3. Clear the digestive system so the bile can actually leave the body 4. Increase amounts of thiol groups which can bind to the metals (Glutathione mainly) How to ensure enough bile is produced: Like always ensuring proper intake of various nutrients is important. - Taurine - Glycine - Phosphodatylcholine - Minerals (all except Iron and Copper) Then various 'bitters' can improve bile production through stimulation of the taste receptors. Bitters would include dandelion greens, arugula, chicory, artichokes, gentian root, wormwood, and citrus peel. In Sweden the 'Swedish bitters' are popular. It's an herbal infusion made with a mixture of numerous herbs, roots, seeds, and flowers including aloe, camphor, angelica root, saffron, senna leaves, manna, myrrh, rhubarb roots, zedoary roots, carline thistle roots, and theriac venezian. Single herbs such as Turmeric, Milk thistle and Ginger are also great. TUDCA (Tauroursodeoxycholic acid) is perhaps the best weapon in your arsenal, it's commonly used among bodybuilders to protect the liver against steroid use, besides that it's great at keeping liver enzymes low and has clinically been shown to treat Cholestasis: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18435680/ Reduce exposure to toxins This shouldn't require an entire explanation, limit the amount of cooked seafood you consume (raw is better but take precautions against parasites), don't overdose on animal organs, don't use plastic stuff (no polyester clothing), get organic food, don't be exposed to industrial goods etc. Clearing out the digestive system Digestion is also not that hard to improve. The biggest mistake I see in digestion is when people consume the wrong foods in the same time window. You don't consume milk and meat in the same timeframe I am honest in this health space I see people combining the weirdest stuff in meals or even eating stuff at the same time which is just ridiculous. Liver and oysters Bone broth and milk Steak and milk And all in the name of 'nutrient density'. Your stomach now needs to digest two foods at the same time that take completely different steps, which inevitably leads to undigested food rotten in the gut. Getting the food that's stuck out of the gut can be done by following a simple short liquid fasting protocol or taking laxatives such as: - Prune or cherry juice - Senna leaf - Castor oil Increasing Thiol groups When we talk about thiol groups we are talking about antioxidants such as Glutathione and it's closely related brothers. these Thiol groups are in the bile and help bind heavy metals into the bile because the thiol groups contain a Sulfur atom which ha an affinity to heavy metals. Tools to increase Glutathione/Thiol-groups: - Glycine and taurine (again) - Raw milk - Extremely low doses of alcohol (hormetic effect) - Minerals (Silica, Molybdenum, Manganese, Selenium) ------------------------------------------------------- When you did all this and start to clear out all the waste due to an increase in bile flow you can start to see increases in T3/metabolism. Ofocurse I am not denying all the other stuff Ray Peat said regarding metabolism/T3 I am just stating that exogenous T3 is not the solution if u haven't tired it all (which u likely haven't) Reminder that this is not medical advice.
