I find this ominous. The Shopify CEO argues Mark Carney’s corporate-welfare approach funds foreign firms to open Canadian branches, undermining homegrown success. He says Shopify thrives in a free market, yet stakeholder capitalism—WEF-style—artificially props up others with billions. I fear Shopify will relocate to Austin or Miami in 2026.

This is the most ominous thing I've read in 2025. This is the CEO of Shopify, Canada's largest tech company. It's almost as valuable as the Royal Bank. He's pretty clearly saying Mark Carney's corporate welfare strategy of bribing foreign companies to open up branch plants here undermines homegrown success stories like his. Carney is paying foreign companies to compete against Canadian companies. Shopify has shown it can win in the free market; but Carney's World Economic Forum style of "stakeholder capitalism" prefers to artificially choose other winners, by giving them billions. I'm so sorry to say it, but I predict that Shopify will relocate to Austin or Miami in 2026.

What you are actually doing here is to bribe nokia to put these jobs into Canada by paying hundreds of thousands of dollars per job from taxpayer money. What this does is to lower the cost basis of nokia per employee. This has been going on for decades, called FDI which all civil servants think is a good thing. I spent a lot of time explaining to civil servants in ottawa that its not good for our economy that American and Oversees branch offices can employ Canadians at half the cost to all the canadian companies around them due to these subsidies. We should not do them at all, they are toxic, at least in the tech sector. It's never meat to be this way, but the situation that very often arises is: It's strictly worse inside of Canada to be a Canadian company compared to a company headquartered everywhere else. This is a bad situation, because the fruits of the subsidized labor will accrue to the wealth of other countries and not Canada. It's tax payer money invested into locking up scarce high tech talent in jobs where they no longer contribute to the Canadian economy directly. Why

I describe Mark Carney as once leading GFANZ, a “woke” investor cartel that supposedly forced a carbon-credit regime: buy credits or risk blacklisting. The U.S. Congress probed GFANZ as illegal, and Carney testified he lived in the UK. After Trump, GFANZ collapsed and Gates abandoned net zero; yet Carney plans a Canadian data-centre carbon tax, worsening Canada’s data-centre costs. I ask Evan Solomon how investors should respond and disclose this.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

Before Mark Carney was Canada's PM, he was the head of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, a cartel of woke investors that tried to impose a "capital strike" on companies with carbon emissions. It was an anti-oil boycott that, curiously, targeted non-OPEC oil countries like Canada and the U.S. And it was an extortion racket: buy carbon credits (that's the "net" in net zero), or be blacklisted for investment. So the U.S. Congress (including @RepThomasMassie) investigated GFANZ as an illegal cartel. They even interrogated Carney under oath (where he admitted he lived in the UK, not Canada). See more here: https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/judiciary-committee-probes-60-companies-over-esg-ties Obviously the GFANZ project imploded when Donald Trump became president. Companies managing more than $50 trillion have abandoned GFANZ. Source: Trump's war on woke corporate governance was part of it. But the new energy demands of AI data centres is another big part of it. Even the global warming extremist Bill Gates has abandoned his net zero ideas. But not Mark Carney. He's going to impose a carbon tax ("pricing carbon") on all Canadian data centres. Canadian data centres already had so many disadvantages compares to the U.S. -- from tariffs to our higher electricity costs. It was always a longshot to think an investor would build an AI data centre in Canada rather than the U.S. But this pretty much seals the deal. What do you think, @EvanLSolomon? When you're pitching AI data centres to investors, do you disclose that they'll be paying a carbon tax if they build in Canada? A made-in-Canada energy "tariff", higher than anything Trump would put on us. What do they say when they hear that?

Judiciary Committee Probes 60+ Companies over ESG Ties WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust Chairman Thomas Massie (R-KY) demanded information from more than 60 U.S.-based asset managers regarding their involvement with the Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) initiative, a woke ESG cartel. judiciary.house.gov

I’m flying to Dublin tonight to report on the most shocking crime imaginable: a migrant in one of Ireland’s massive refugee camps has allegedly raped a 10-year-old Irish girl. There’s a huge protest tomorrow. Follow my reports at http://www.MigrantReports.com https://t.co/wiIy2uGMXY

Ezra Levante here at Pearson Airport. As you can see, I'm about to hop on a plane and fly overnight to Dublin, Ireland. The most atrocious thing has happened. The worst thing in the world, the worst thing imaginable has happened in Dublin. A 10 year old girl went missing from state care, and then she shows up and she's been raped allegedly by a migrant staying at a government migrant hotel in Dublin, Ireland. The government bought a massive hotel called City West, the largest hotel in Ireland. They paid a €150,000,000 for it. That's like a quarter billion dollars in Canada. It's a massive place. But they shut it down as a hotel and turned it into an urban refugee camp. 2,000 people, mainly single military aged migrant men, most of whom threw their ID into the water before they came aboard. They're they're fake refugees. But more than that, they're violent. The crime rate of these men staying at this urban refugee camp are enormous and it's not like a prison. The men are allowed out every day. Now, first of all, they're given a roof over their head and three meals a day, more than a lot of Irish homeless get, but they mill around by day. They go hang out in parks and they they get drunk. They harass people on the street, they sit in the schoolyards or primary schools. It was only a matter of time before something horrific like this happened. Understand this migrant hotel is right in the heart of Dublin. It's not in a faraway place. It's not on some island and it is not enclosed by a prison wall. These men go into the community every day, 2,000 of them. Imagine a 2,000 man city planted in the heart of Dublin. The rage in Ireland is palpable online. We're flying overnight. We wanna go and talk to the locals about this. How did this happen? Will it happen again? Will police and politicians ever take this seriously? Is this the tipping point or will Ireland continue to be a mass immigration country? All the main political parties and all the regime media are fully in support of mass immigration. Ireland has a faster mass immigration program than anywhere else in the world. Maybe Canada has it worse, but in Ireland it's more shocking because it's happened so suddenly. I wanna cover what's going on and I wanna give people the other side of the story, not the state broadcaster RTE, not the politicians who cover it up. I wanna talk to grassroots Irish people who have been warning about this. I'm flying overnight with our cameraman, Lincoln Jay. We'll land in the morning. We'll go straight to the City West Hotel. There is also gonna be a protest at 07:30PM Irish time. That's 02:30PM East Coast North American time. We will be there. If you can help us cover the economy class airfare to get over there, I'd be grateful. Go to migrantreports.com. That's also where we're gonna put all our footage. My job for the next twenty four hours is to cover what the Irish people have to say and what they have to say not only about this horrific rape, but about the politicians and media and the greedy migrant hotel industrialists, what their role is in this too. A shocking, shocking story, and we'll have more for you as soon as we land. For Rebel News, I'm Ezra Lemmat. You can follow the story at migrantreports.com. What do we want? Raise your hands. LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA - Police in Lethbridge, Alta., have laid charges against a Calgary man following an incident in which a 12-year-old girl was lured online and sexually assaulted in April. Twenty-six-year-old Jhanger Ali Sameer has been charged with sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, possession of child pornography, and two counts of child luring. The charges come after an investigation into a missing person report for the 12-year-old on April 23, 2025. Police found the girl had been picked up the previous day by a man she had met online. He took her to a residence he had rented for a night and sexually assaulted her multiple times before leaving Lethbridge. Police were able to gather video surveillance of the man while he was in the city, as well as online communication with the girl. Investigators also gathered physical evidence at the rental property. Police believe this was not an isolated incident and there may be more victims, saying Sameer may go by ‘Sam’ online.

We caught Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, on the streets of Davos today. We grilled him for nine minutes as his bodyguards tried to push us away. Fink panicked and started taking photos of our faces — a bizarre attempt to threaten us. It didn’t work. https://t.co/R2E8kC074J

Video Transcript AI Summary
Mister Fink, will you follow Trump's plan to eliminate DEI and ESG in your companies? BlackRock seems authoritarian and unaccountable. Have you spoken to Trump since his election? Why are you avoiding straightforward questions? Are you more powerful than Trump? Many states are divesting from your ESG initiatives, which seems disloyal to shareholders. Why do you think BlackRock is so disliked? Do you feel above accountability? Your bodyguards' aggressive behavior towards journalists raises concerns about your respect for the public. What are your future ambitions? Do you plan to run for office, or do you prefer to control from behind the scenes? Your actions suggest a troubling mindset. I'm Ezra Levant, and I ask questions about BlackRock. And I'm Avi Umini, committed to uncovering the truth, regardless of intimidation. Check out our reports from Davos at wefreports.com.

Speaker 0: Mister Fink, are you gonna follow Donald Trump's, plan and get rid of DEI and ESG in in your companies? BlackRock really is the opposite of Donald Trump in so many ways. You're authoritarian. You're anti populist. You're top down. Are you gonna change at all in light of the US presidency? How is Donald Trump have you talked to Donald Trump since he was elected? Is the World Economic Forum a counterpoint to Donald Trump? Why are you running away from simple questions? Just answer a question. Have you talked to president Trump yet? Why are your why are your bodyguards pushing white journalists, mister Fink? Speaker 1: They're simple questions. Is that that hard to answer a question that you need bodyguards and to swerve through traffic? Is the next 4 years gonna be bad for business with Donald Trump in charge? Is peace the last thing you want on this world? Speaker 0: Which makes more money for you, war in Ukraine or peace in Ukraine? Ezra Levant's my name, mister Fink. Speaker 1: Did you did you just take a photo of you? Speaker 0: Am I supposed to be scared? Is that a threat, mister Fink? Speaker 1: Are you used to bullying your way through life? Speaker 0: No. No. No. No. Speaker 1: No. Yeah. What? Is that how you've lived your entire life without having? What it is? Speaker 0: When was the last time you push you back, man. Speaker 1: Don't push me, bro. Speaker 0: Don't push me. When was the last time you answered a question that you didn't know was coming? Why are you so unaccountable? Isn't that what you love about the World Economic Forum? You control everything. Speaker 1: Why do you think you deserve so much power? Hey. I'll be your mini. Should I be scared now? Speaker 0: Which of your former directors do you want to run Canada? Mark Carney or Chrystia Freeland? Speaker 1: Hey. Hey. Push me, bro. What? What are you getting violent for, man? I could push just like you get it, man. Look at these thugs. They fund wars around the world and then you question them. They try not only to intimidate you, but physically assault you. Speaker 0: What's with taking photos of journalists who ask you prickly questions? Who's more powerful, you or president Trump? Speaker 1: Why do you think he's so disliked around the world? Speaker 0: Why are so many US states divesting from your ESG schemes? Why are you putting your ideology ahead of your investors with ESG, mister Fink? Isn't that being disloyal to shareholders, putting your ideology ahead of rate of return? Why do you think you're above accountability? Is it because you're rich? I Speaker 1: I just feel like walking with him now because his big scary bodyguards. And I don't know, Ezra. I just wanna make it clear. I will not kill myself. Speaker 0: I have no suicidal thoughts either. Mister Fink's taking pictures of me and Abi Amini. I think that's meant to intimidate. It's a little weird, though. It feels a little thin skinned. Do you think you're above questions? Like, why don't you even answer? Surely, you have the answers. Why do you think BlackRock has become so hated, one of the world's most reviled brands? Do You take any responsibility for that? Who do you feel accountable to? It's obviously not shareholders. Do you have a god complex? Speaker 1: Was Biden the best thing for you? And did you fail by not being able to get another Democrat president? Speaker 0: Why don't you run for public office and test the support for your ideological ideas? Speaker 1: Is this the most uncomfortable you've ever felt? No. I'm good. Do do you think this is okay? You're a security guard, a thug. You sure? Obviously, you do. You took my photo because you're hoping he'll catch up with me later. Is that supposed to scare me? Speaker 0: Have your bodyguards learned from you to disrespect the little people? Is that how you feel about the little people, mister Fink? Speaker 1: Are you not worried because you own the local police? Speaker 0: What politicians have you had meetings with, or is that a secret? Why don't you publish your itinerary? Is it because you're doing lobbying or being lobbied? Speaker 1: Do you think this makes BlackRock look better or worse? The fact that you've got hired thugs pushing journalists into cars, into buildings. Is that is that just typical? Is that the way you do business? Speaker 0: Let's do it. He's down here. You got here? Yeah. Oh, why do you do the card? Does it a little look a little bit weird that someone as rich, powerful, and smart as you can't answer any questions, or is it that you just think you're above questions? What's your problem? That's horrible. Speaker 1: Your security got code dot comma, Is is that how you feel? Speaker 0: What's the end game for you? You're rich. You're powerful. What's next for you? Do you wanna run for president one day, or do you have bigger goals? Don't push me on the ice. You don't want a lawsuit now, do you? Speaker 1: Do you think there's no point in running for office because you can control them? You can control both sides from outside. Why are you pushing ladies? Mate, where are you from? Why are you such a thug? What are you so angry about in life? Did somebody hurt you as a kid? Who we gonna meet tonight for dinner? Speaker 0: Run away. Run away. Where you going? Speaker 1: Well, I reckon that pretty much demonstrates exactly what Black Rock is about. Speaker 0: That that weird move. I mean, he's got 2 bodyguards who are really handsy. There was no punches, but there was also pushing. The move by Fink himself to take photos of us, that's weird. Speaker 1: Weird. Speaker 0: I'm not I'm not suicidal. Speaker 1: Heavily no suicidal. I just I feel like, let's walk the other way. Speaker 0: You know, normally, masters of the universe don't tread on the ground like us commoners. They have vehicles drive them around Davos. But, he made the mistake of walking down the street, and I think that's the first time he's been asked unscripted questions ever. Speaker 1: And how angry did he get versus trying to whiz through traffic, which is every everything about his behavior was so bizarre. The only thing that seemed to actually come really natural to him was having people do his dirty work. Speaker 0: Yeah. You know, there's some very, very important people, at Davos. I mean, John Kerry is an example. I bumped into Tony Blair last year. There are some very powerful people. At most, they have sort of one assistant. There's no need for bodyguards in this town. There's armed Swiss security everywhere. But to have 2 thugs to push and shove, I think that shows the mindset of Larry Fink himself. And taking pictures of us, I I I'm happy to tell him my name. My name is Ezra Levant, and I ask questions about BlackRock. Speaker 1: And I'm Avi Umini. And I'll also ask questions no matter who who you have near you, and it's exactly why we're here. I’m reaching out to discuss Tommy Robinson's urgent legal battles while he’s in solitary confinement for a documentary he published. He was sentenced to 18 months, but we believe his treatment is unjust, as solitary confinement is typically reserved for violent offenders. We’ve hired a prison law expert to challenge this decision, but the prison governor has refused to move him. Additionally, Tommy faces a dubious charge under the Terrorism Act, which is being used to infringe on his rights. We’re crowdfunding for four lawyers to help him. Any support in raising awareness would be appreciated.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

Dear @elonmusk, The way to free Tommy Robinson is through legal action. While he’s in prison he’s asked me to help with two urgent battles. Permit me to describe them for you, and all your followers: 1. Tommy was sentenced to 18 months in prison for publishing that documentary you just retweeted. The judge specifically referred to Twitter/X, and the video’s wide distribution when giving out the sentence. Tommy will likely be released in 9 months, but in the meantime he is being held in segregation (solitary confinement). No man can do nine months of solitary without major mental health damage — it’s a form of torture, like what was done to Julian Assange. Remember, contempt of court in this case is a civil offence — not a crime. It’s outrageous and unprecedented that he be held in solitary, which is usually reserved for short-term punishments of violent prisoners who misbehave in prison. We have hired a lawyer who is an expert in prison law to challenge the way he is being held. We just received the reply from the prison governor, refusing to move Tommy from solitary, saying that he must stay there because of “the polarising nature of his ideology”. You can see that letter here: https://rebelgbp.nationbuilder.com/tommy_prison_legal_fund We are moving quickly to appeal that prison governor’s decision in a judicial review. 2. While Tommy is in prison, he is being charged with a bogus, trumped up charge under the Terrorism Act — a UK version of the Patriot Act. Obviously Tommy is not a terrorist (and police told him as much when they arrested him). They’re just using that extreme law to subject Tommy to questioning that he legally cannot refuse under the act and to search his phone without a warrant, as is also permitted in the act. Tommy refused to give police the password to his cell phone without a warrant (he had both legal and journalistic confidences in it), so they’re prosecuting him for that, too. For each of these two battles we need both a solicitor and a barrister (they’re different people in the UK). So we’re crowdfunding FOUR different lawyers. Frankly, we need help. Tommy has been debanked and deplatformed, so Tommy asked me and Rebel News to crowdfund his lawyers for him, which were doing at http://www.SaveTommy.com They really are throwing the unlimited resources of the state against him. Not for a crime, but for a political and journalistic disagreement. I don’t think you’ll be able to change the mind of Keir Starmer, the authoritarian Prime Minister who used to be the UK’s chief prosecutor. But if you could help direct attention towards our legal crowdfund, I think we have a reasonable chance to get him into a more sensible prison for the rest of his sentence, and to swat down this bogus Terrorism Act charge. Thanks! Ezra Levant Rebel News

I’m out of jail but back in court today at 9:30 a.m. ET, facing prosecution from Trudeau’s Elections Canada over my book, The Libranos, which they claim interferes with campaigns. They’ve invested a million dollars and brought a dozen people against me. Meanwhile, they ignored Chinese interference in multiple Canadian electoral districts. I’ll be live-tweeting the hearing, although I doubt any civil liberties or journalism groups will show up. It feels like a David versus Goliath situation, but I’m ready. I’m out of jail. But I’m back in court. This morning at 9:30 a.m. ET, Trudeau’s hyper-partisan @ElectionsCan_E is prosecuting me at the Federal Court of Appeal — my fourth hearing. They claim my bestselling book, The Libranos, published five years ago, was an illegal campaign interference. They’ve put a dozen people and a million dollars into pursuing me. This is the same Elections Canada that refused to investigate Chinese Communist Party interference in 11 different electoral districts in Canada. I’ll be live-tweeting the hearing; I’m pretty sure no so-called civil liberties groups or journalism groups will be there, because they’re too busy asking Trudeau for hand-outs. I mean, they were fine with me being jailed, why would they care about my book being banned? I’ll have one lawyer; Trudeau will have both Justice Department lawyers as well as expensive Bay Street lawyers he’s hired — I predict it will be six against one. But we’re used to being David versus Goliath! Follow along here, and please visit http://www.TheLibranos.com to learn more, and to help me pay for my lawyer today. (Thanks.)

I'm in a taxi heading to the federal court of appeal in Toronto for a hearing regarding my book, "The Libranos," published during the 2019 election. Elections Canada has been prosecuting me for five years, spending over $1 million on this case, while ignoring serious foreign interference in our elections. My book, critical of Justin Trudeau, is the only one among 24 published that has faced legal scrutiny. I'll be live tweeting the proceedings, and I'm likely to be alone in court without support from civil liberties or journalism groups. If you believe in defending free speech, please consider helping with legal costs at thelibranos.com. I'm fighting against Trudeau's government, and I appreciate any support. I'll update you soon on Twitter.

Speaker 0: Hi, everybody. Ezra Levant here. I am in a taxi headed to downtown in Toronto. The traffic is madness, so I thought I better record this in the cab. I won't have time before I rush into the court. I'm going to the federal court of appeal. It's got nothing to do with my arrest on the weekend. That's another story, but I'm in the federal court of appeal today over my book, the LeBronos that I published in the 20 19 federal election. And as you may know, Justin Trudeau's elections Canada has been prosecuting me ever since 5 years. They've had me in legal hoops. We've had I don't know. This is like a 4th hearing, I think. They've spent easily $1,000,000 not just on internal bureaucrats and lawyers, but they've hired one of the most expensive downtown Toronto law firms too. There's probably gonna be half a dozen lawyers and they're prosecuting me for my book. I've got one great lawyer, Sarah Miller, on my side. And, I think she's used to 101 odds, so this would be easy for her. I'm kidding. It's an uphill battle, of course, because the government has decided that my book called The Libranos, and they hate the cover of the book because it shows Justin Trudeau as if he's like a mob guy, like The Sopranos from that old TV show. They hate that book and they've been investigating it since the 2019 election. They put so many resources behind it. Because of course, it was much more important that they do that than look into say the 11, MPs who were elected in part because of the People's Republic of China. According to CSIS, China interfered in the 2019 and 2021 elections. But elections Canada did not investigate. They couldn't care less. In fact, they were in support of it. They've had private meetings, as you know, with the Liberals and the NDP. Elections Canada, instead of defending our country and our elections against actual foreign interference, has taken on an author and has tried to criminalize my book because it was critical of Trudeau. I'd say again, there were 24 books published about Justin Trudeau in the 2019 election. Mine was critical. The other 23 were sort of loving tongue baths of Trudeau, and mine was the only one investigated and prosecuted. It's outrageous. I'll be live tweeting the proceedings. And, if you wanna help me cover the costs of my great lawyer, Sarah Miller, you can do that at the website, thelibranos.com. Thelibranos.com. I'll be tweeting the hearing, and I'll be alone in the court. I'm certain of it. You won't have any civil liberties groups. You won't have any journalism groups. You won't have any authors or publishers there because I'm conservative. If I was a left winger who had written a book criticizing, say, Stephen Harper, and I was prosecuted for writing a a book, I would be the toast of the town. I would be given some, I don't know, Nobel Peace Prize or something, but because it's Trudeau who's prosecuting me for a conservative book. The establishment, authors, journalists, they don't care. If you think this is something to care about, if you don't like living in a country where police can grill authors for an hour over why they wrote a book, then help me out. If you please go to the libranos.com. I know it seems like I'm fighting Trudeau every day, whether it's at protests on the street or in jail or in the federal court of appeal today. And the answer is, yeah. I guess I am fighting Trudeau full time. And if you wanna help me, I'd be grateful for it. Alright. I'll talk to you soon by Twitter. I'm on my way. I should arrive at the courthouse in about 15 minutes.

I had my cell phone camera on during the pro-Hamas protest. I assumed the video was lost when I was arrested and my phone was taken from me. But I checked last night and it was all saved. The police said and did some absolutely shocking things here: https://t.co/yp41KB0fQZ

I'm with Rebel News and was informed I could speak with you. I want to ask why it's acceptable to allow a reenactment of a Hamas leader. This seems biased. You claim to be unbiased, but how can that be true? There are hate crime investigators present; can I speak with them? You've charged hate crimes before, but why allow this demonstration? I want to film it. You're pushing me away instead of allowing me to report. This is my neighborhood, and I have the right to be here. If my presence is a problem, then I’m being treated as an illegal person in my own country. You’re enforcing rules that favor one side. I’m being arrested for standing on the sidewalk as a citizen. This is unacceptable.

Speaker 0: How do you do? That's my name. I'm with Rebel News, Speaker 1: and I Speaker 0: have I I was told that, by one of the officers there that I could speak with you on this side. Speaker 1: Yeah. What we've done, actually, we've cordoned off an area for media. So if you anybody wanna interview anybody, we can send them out for you. Speaker 0: Okay? I wanna interview you Speaker 1: just for a moment. Okay. Speaker 0: I wanna ask you why you think it's appropriate to allow that, recreation of Yahya Sinwar, that fella in that chair, is sort of reenacting the Hamas terrorist leader. And it seems to me it'll be like having a cross burning in front of a black Speaker 1: That there's there's no question there. You're just making a statement. I'm not Speaker 0: just making a statement. Speaker 1: I'm not gonna answer. Well, okay. Speaker 0: That just Speaker 1: seems so If you wanna if you wanna interview anybody from the either side, we'll make them aware that you have a space available for you. Okay? So you don't you don't think that's I'm not gonna answer. Okay? I'm not gonna answer. Speaker 0: Well, I I think it calls into question the evenhandedness of your policing with all Oh, Speaker 1: we've been unbiased. We've been unbiased people. Really? Speaker 0: Yeah. Absolutely. What what would they have to do? Like, they're they're calling Speaker 1: for I'm not gonna get into what ifs and things like that. We have we have members from hate crime on scene. Who were they? Speaker 0: Can I talk with them? Speaker 1: I'm not gonna point them out to you. They're kinda close. Oh, we do have investigators in the hate crime you do not see. Speaker 0: Have you ever made a charge for a hate crime? Speaker 1: Absolutely, man. On this blog. Investigation as a hate crime today, and, yes, we have laid charges for hate crime. Speaker 0: On this blog? Absolutely. Speaker 1: Yes, man. Speaker 0: I'm glad to hear that. Yeah. Speaker 1: Okay. What else Speaker 0: can I astonishing? I think that's just astonishing. But, again, we have Speaker 1: we have investigators that specialize in hate crime and specialize in that field. The same thing there was an allegation made to the flag on the other side was breaching it as a terrorist flag. We look at it and it's not. Okay? I wanna go and film that that guy Speaker 0: reenacting the terrorism. Well, I'm not gonna lie to you. Speaker 1: Go through here. You wanna hop in your car and go buy it. That's fine. Speaker 1: Jeff, I'll be with you in a second. Okay? Speaker 0: Thank you. Speaker 1: What we'll do because I don't wanna get anybody educated. We'll bring you around the other side and you can film it. I don't Thank you. I don't have an issue with that. Can you just walk by? Yeah. Welcome. Speaker 0: You're wearing your skirt again. Speaker 1: Video. I said Sorry. What's your name? I never got your name. Now are you interested in doing an interview with him? No. No. I just wanna know what his name is. Speaker 0: I told you. I was arrested for "causing a disturbance" while filming a pro-Hamas mannequin in a Jewish neighborhood. Despite standing alone on a public sidewalk, police intervened, pushing me away and threatening arrest if I didn’t move to a designated "free speech zone." I asserted my rights as a Canadian citizen, but Officer Macduff insisted my presence was causing a reaction. After my arrest, I was jailed and have since been released. I plan to pursue legal action against Macduff and the Toronto Police for violating my rights. More updates will follow.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

I was arrested two hours ago, handcuffed, searched and jailed for “causing a disturbance”. I was just released moments ago. I wasn’t causing a disturbance — I was standing by myself on a public sidewalk, silently filming a grotesque pro-Hamas mannequin in a Jewish neighbourhood — a reenactment of Hamas leader Yayha Sinwar. It would be like someone reenacting Hitler — and police were stopping me from filming it. I was pushed away from it by one officer. And another officer, named Macduff, said if I didn’t go to a special “free speech zone” they’d set up far away, I’d be arrested. I told him Canada was my free speech zone, I was a citizen and taxpayer, and I would not get off the sidewalk. Macduff said that was causing a reaction. I said the hysterical reaction of foreign thugs who hate Jews (and most other Canadians) doesn’t give them a veto over my Charter rights. Macduff said he “was the law”. I told him no, he was a servant of the law. So he arrested me and had me taken to jail. I was just released and I’ll have more to say — including in a lawsuit against Macduff and @TorontoPolice for violating my rights and refusing to protect me. I understand you're asking me to stand aside, but you're not the law. I have the right to be here as a citizen. I was told I could stay in this designated area, but now I'm being pressured to leave. The police claim my presence is a disturbance, yet I'm not causing any issues. I'm being arrested for standing on a public sidewalk in my own city, while they protect those inciting hate against Jews. It's frustrating that it's easier for them to arrest me than to confront the real threats. This feels like an injustice, especially when I'm just trying to report on hate crimes.

Well, absolutely. Acting inspector Ford told me they had to be the area for you and you guys stayed in it, and they came back. Well, because it's Speaker 1: not up against the same roof. Speaker 0: Well, yeah. Because you're inciting this crowd and then it it reaches the heat. That's exactly what you're trying to do. Because I'm a Jew. No. Because you're trying to incite me. Because I'm a Jew, I'm a citizen, and I'm your boss. And I don't leave if you say Jews Speaker 0: are not But you know what? In the interest of keeping peace Speaker 1: arrested because I'm standing on the sidewalk in my city? I'm a Jew who's who lives in this neighborhood, and I'm being arrested because the police say that's the path of least resistance. I am I've been arrested by the police because I refuse to get off the public sidewalk. They said that I cannot be on the sidewalk because Speaker 0: that inherently is a disturbance. Speaker 1: They said that by standing there and I wasn't even interviewing anyone. They said that that was such Speaker 0: a disturbance that I would Speaker 1: be arrested. And I think that's a little bit cowardly because arresting me, they know I'm not gonna have a riot Speaker 0: like there was last night at Montreal. Speaker 1: They know I'm gonna go peacefully because I'm a law abiding Canadian. They're afraid of Hamas activists, and they're woke. And Olivia Chow approves, and Dutch Ford approves, and Justin Trudeau approves. And so I am arrested for the first time in my life in my home city, the city where I pay taxes, because these people, and by these people, I mean, these police here have been instructed not to touch the hate line. I went to film Speaker 0: the hate line across the state. Speaker 1: They actually have reenacted yaya Speaker 0: sinewar's final moment. Speaker 1: That would be like having a Hitler recreation. It would be like having someone dressed up as Hitler in a neighborhood where Holocaust improvised his lives. They say that that is not a hate crime and that for me to report on it is a crime. Speaker 0: Unfortunate. They are protecting Hamas supporters who are calling for the murder of Jews. Speaker 1: They are. And because it was easier to arrest me than to arrest the Hamas thugs, that's what they've done. In my own city, for the crime of journalists, you Speaker 0: can get some call in papers. I believe Trudeau's recent Senate appointments are a disgrace, announced during the Labour Day long weekend to avoid scrutiny. This move feels like a direct affront to Senate reform and a dismissal of Albertans' concerns. Among the appointees is Kristopher Wells, whom I view as a trans extremist. His past actions, including revising a cartoon to depict Christians as executing LGBT individuals, raise serious concerns. I worry that Christians will now face an extremist and bigoted presence in the Senate.

Trudeau knows his new Senate appointments are a disgrace, so he announced them on the Labour Day long weekend. This is a slap in the face to Senate reform, a giant F-you to Albertans. He appointed a trans extremist, @KristopherWells, who once revised a cartoon that showed ISIS terrorist executing Christians, and made it into a cartoon of Christians executing LGBT. Christians can expect an extremist, bigoted enemy in the Senate now. So gross. https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releases/2024/08/31/prime-minister-announces-appointment-senators

Because no matter how fierce the storms of history, 1 of the great strengths of this nation has always been our ability to navigate away to calmer waters. And yet this depends upon politicians, particularly those who stand for stability and moderation as I do Recognizing when we must change course, for too long now, we've turned a blind eye as 1, 000, 000 slid into greater insecurity.

Speaker 0: Hey, everybody. I am now inside the, police headquarters in Toronto, and I presented myself to the reception desk. And I said I was here to turn myself in or to interview the chief, whichever the chief prefers. So if they want to arrest me or if they want to talk to me, because I'd like to talk to the chief. I think he's panicking right now. He doesn't know what to do. He thought we would just roll over. This wasn't really in the scenarios. They sent a lady, officer out to surreptitiously film me on her pink iPhone. And And I walked up to her and I said, hey. Let's talk. And she sort of ran away bravely. I guess courage runs in the family for the police department. Look. I I just wanna find out, who the hell died and appointed the chief a censor? And why is he going after billboard trucks instead of this insane crime wave that has washed over Toronto on his watch? Maybe that's why he's doing it, to distract from his utter failure to fight crime in Toronto. Anyhow, if I'm arrested, I probably won't have any more Twitter videos. If I talk to the chief, maybe I'll have 1. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, go to save the truck dot com. It might turn into save Ezra dot com.

A new law in Canada, C-63, could allow anyone to take legal action against individuals like Jordan Peterson for their online content, even retroactively. Complaints can be filed for free, potentially resulting in fines of $20,000 to the complainant and $50,000 to the government. The identity of complainants can be kept secret, making it difficult for targets to defend themselves. This law opens the door for numerous attacks on individuals, potentially devastating their lives and careers. Learn more at StopTheCensorship.ca.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

Jordan Peterson was put through the ringer by the Ontario College of Psychologists because a couple of cranks didn't like some of his tweets. But a new law (C-63) would allow literally anyone to take him to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal for every tweet or YouTube video he publishes, not just in the future, but anything he's done historically that's still available online. Each complaint is free to file. It's not like a civil lawsuit where you have to hire a lawyer and pay a filing fee, etc. The government helps you if you need it. Each complaint can result in a.) a $20,000 fine payable to the complainant and b.) a $50,000 fine payable to the government. So it's the Trump treatment. Overwhelm the target with endless nuisance suits that take time and money to fight. Even if the complaints are dismissed, you're still at a loss. And if literally hundreds of complaints are filed against someone like Prof. Peterson, even if only 5% are upheld, that's economically devastating. As you can see by the screenshots below, the identity of the complainants, and anyone who gives evidence, can be kept a secret -- from the public, and even from the target himself. It could be the government, or someone paid by the government, filing complaints; it could be a political or academic rival; it could be a disgruntled neighbour! Complaints can be filed by literally anyone -- you don't need to have standing, you don't need to have been mentioned by Prof. Peterson. You just have to want to deploy the bureaucracy against him. The certainty of this happening is 100% -- it already has been happening on a small scale. But this law has invited every grifter, grumbler and hater to take their quarrels from the YouTube comments section into the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. I mean, you could write a mean tweet about Prof. Peterson. Or you could just turn that tweet into a "hate speech" complaint, and force him to lawyer up and reply -- and possibly pay you $20,000 per complaint. Trudeau is obsessed by Trump. He's been watching how corrupted courts and bureaucrats have declared "lawfare" against him. This is the Canadian version of that, but instead of a few spectacular criminal prosecutions, this will unleash literally hundreds, likely thousands, of "small" attacks on Trudeau's enemies. But how many people, even at Prof. Peterson's level of success, could withstand a barrage of $70,000 human rights penalties? ($20,000 payable to the complainant, $50,000 payable to the government.) Learn more at http://www.StopTheCensorship.ca I use Prof. Peterson as an example because he's high profile, he's already been attacked by the College of Psychologists, and he absolutely will be swarmed. But this law is also targeted at "normal" people, for whom a single complaint would devastate their lives and knock them out of public life.

Here’s how they’re going to get you, @jordanbpeterson. For years the Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA) has banned discrimination against people based on “gender identity or expression”. You of course have never discriminated against anyone. But this new bill adds s. 13 to the CHRA, which now says that mere speech is considered discrimination if it is “likely to foment detestation or vilification of an individual or group”. So now, if someone watches one of your YouTube videos or reads on of your tweets about, say, transgender athletes changing in the girls change room, and as a result is “likely” to have hard feelings towards trans people, that’s hate speech. That’s step 1. Here’s step 2. Any member of the public (including non-citizens) can lodge a complaint against you to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal — an activist quasi-judicial tribunal run by non-judges, appointed by Trudeau. They can get up to $20,000 per complaint from you — and they don’t have to be the “victim”. (There doesn’t have to be a victim at all — remember it’s a future crime. They only have to show that your tweet or video is “likely to” (i.e might) cause one person to have hard feelings about another person. $20,000 that you’d pay the complainant — plus $50,000 in fines to the government. Per complaint. So there could be a new complaint for every tweet you make. Every video. And the complainants can be professional busybodies and activists — they don’t have to be a “victim”. Why wouldn’t woke activists literally file a CHRA complaint after every single thing you do or say on social media? It’s free. There’s no limit. Even if you “win”, you lose — the process is the punishment. And of course, they’re going to win. This will become an industry — to enrich woke grifters and destroy you financially. But here’s the truly amazing part: the complainants can keep their identity a secret from you. Secret testimony from secret witnesses — who get paid up to $20,000 to take a run at you. That’s how they’re going to come for you — and for us at @RebelNewsOnline. See screenshots. 1. Source: https://www.parl.ca/DocumentViewer/en/44-1/bill/C-63/first-reading 2. The Trudeau government in Canada has been using tax dollars to pay left-wing lobby groups to file nuisance lawsuits against Trudeau's enemies. A document obtained through an Access to Information request reveals this secret arrangement. Trudeau's new bill, C-63, allows anyone who files a complaint to demand up to $20,000 per complaint from their targets, enabling left-wing individuals to extract money directly from their political opponents. This bill removes the need for government grants, making it easier for these individuals to harass conservatives.

In Canada, the Trudeau government has been quietly paying left-wing lobby groups hundreds of thousands of dollars to file nuisance lawsuits against Trudeau's enemies. This takes the form of complaints to police and legal threats to social media companies demanding they censor conservatives. Attached is a document obtained by @RebelNewsOnline through an Access to Information request clearly showing that. Trudeau is using tax dollars to pay third parties to harass his political enemies. Note that the NGO in question, the ironically named @antihateca, wanted to keep this document "privileged and confidential" -- what they're doing was a secret. But what Trudeau's new bill C-63 does is it removes the need for race hustlers and grifters to apply for government grants. Now they can just file complaints -- by the dozen, by the hundred, by the thousand -- to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, and extract the money from their political targets directly. C-63 lets anyone who files a complaint demand up to $20,000 per complaint from their targets. Conservatives will have to pay for their own persecution, like when Stalin sent the families of the people he had executed a bill for the bullet they used. Now the vexatious litigants on the left can get their money directly from their enemies list. cc. @jordanbpeterson

Trudeau's recent announcement to require registration for YouTubers, livestreamers, and podcasters is part of his internet censorship strategy. The decision was made without parliamentary debate or voting, reminiscent of a decree. The Canadian Radiotelevision and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), known for its political bias, was used to make the announcement. Trudeau's control over the media is evident through massive subsidies and bans on journalists. Bills like C11 and C18 grant him power over the internet, including altering algorithms and collecting a link tax. His proposed Online Harms Act even allows for banning entire websites. This censorship plan raises concerns about freedom of speech and the First Amendment.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

1. Governments hide things by announcing them on Friday afternoons. Last night, Trudeau announced he now requires YouTubers, livestreamers & podcasters (including those streaming on X/Twitter) to “register” with the government. It’s part of his Internet censorship strategy.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

2. This shocking decision was not debated, let alone voted on, by Parliament. It’s a decree, like Castro would do. Trudeau used his hand-picked appointees at the CRTC — the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission — to announce this hijacking.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

3. The CRTC is a relic of the age of radio and TV, created in 1976. It’s been for more than a decade — other than for handing out lucrative monopolies to Canada’s cell phone cartel. Canadians literally pay the highest phone rates in the world: https://research.rewheel.fi/downloads/The_state_of_4G_5G_pricing_17_release_1H2022_countries_PUBLIC_VERSION.pdf

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

4. The CRTC is intensely political. It killed off the Sun News Network — dubbed “Fox News North” — in 2015. Sun News wanted the same regulatory treatment as the two left-wing all-news channels, and the CRTC denied it. https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/were-here-because-sun-news-has-not-been-getting-a-fair-shake/wcm/10d4475a-3aa9-4ccf-b8bd-97a6d90c78fb/amp/

'We’re here because Sun News has not been getting a fair shake': Network pitches CRTC for guaranteed spot on the dial The conservative-minded network is seeking what is known as mandatory carriage from the CRTC, which would require the channel to be included in every basic cable and satellite package across Canada nationalpost.com

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

5. I used to work at Sun News; out of its ashes we built Rebel News. We were rebelling against three things — Media Party groupthink; expensive TV infrastructure; and CRTC regulation. On the Internet we were free. Within a few years we had a much larger reach than Sun News had.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

6. Other online news sources have grown in Canada, too, as the legacy media have shrunk. News outlets like True North & Western Standard. And of course marquee names like Dr. Jordan Peterson, a global talent who just happens to be based in Canada and occasionally tweaks Trudeau.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

7. Trudeau’s approach since taking power has been to subsidize the dying Regime Media. He gives $1.5B/year to the CBC state broadcaster and annual bail-outs to the rest of the media. For about thirty seconds they objected. Now they beg for more: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5147761

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

8. Despite sending billions of dollars to what Trudeau calls “trustworthy” media, fewer people than ever watch regime news. And it hasn’t helped working journalists — executives pocket big bonuses while reporters are laid off: https://www.unifor.org/news/all-news/metroland-media-betrays-workers-and-communities-local-news-cuts

Metroland Media betrays workers and communities with local news cuts TORONTO- Metroland Media, owned and controlled by Jordan Bitove’s Nordstar, is betraying workers and leaving an information vacuum in many communities by ending the print publication of 70 of weekly community newspapers and shuttering its flyer delivery business. unifor.org

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

9. By the way, the bailout media don’t just fail despite Trudeau’s cash. They fail because of it. Very few news organizations permit critical coverage of Trudeau anymore, and people can sense it. I mean, here’s the state broadcaster’s chief Ottawa reporter.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

@CBCNews 10. Rebel News started in my living room just eight years ago but 41% of Canadians already trust us MORE than age-old legacy media like the CBC, CTV, the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. Here’s a Léger poll showing that and other interesting things: http://www.RebelPoll.com

Canada's leading pollster asks Canadians what they think about Rebel News — and the answers are very encouraging! Because of our total independence, we have won the trust of millions of Canadians. Let me show you the incredible results. rebelnews.com

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

@CBCNews 11. My point is: Trudeau is a control freak when it comes to the news media. He routinely bans journalists he doesn’t like from attending press conferences or even attending election debates. Twice the Federal a court has had to order him to accredit us: https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal-elections/federal-court-grants-rebel-news-access-to-cover-federal-leaders-debates/article_c7118d3f-6672-59b1-ae93-b04fd3ddd06b.amp.html

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

@CBCNews 12. But despite his bans, and his massive subsidies to his state broadcasters and the bail-out journalists at the newspapers, independent media led by citizen journalists continue to thrive and legacy media continues to decline. That’s where last night’s decree comes in.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

13. Trudeau recently rammed through Bill C-11. It put the entire Internet under the control of his CRTC appointees. Here's the text of C-11: https://www.parl.ca/DocumentViewer/en/44-1/bill/C-11/royal-assent One of their new powers is shocking: Trudeau can order Facebook/Google/YouTube to alter their algorithms.

14. S. 9.1(1)(e) says: "The Commission may... make orders imposing conditions... including... the presentation of programs and programming services for selection by the public, including the showcasing and the discoverability of Canadian programs..." That's a search algorithm.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

15. YouTube, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., already boost or throttle content based on their own criteria, and it's usually hostile to conservatives or contrarians, especially on issues like vaccines or transgenderism. But this new law puts Trudeau in charge.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

16. Trudeau has now given himself the power to alter the "discoverability" of Internet content. He already said he's going to decide which news is "trusted" and which isn't -- he said that in his very first media bail-out announcement: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-media-sector-gets-595-million-package-in-ottawas-fiscal-update/

Media sector gets $595-million package in Ottawa’s fiscal update The federal government said it wants to assist Canada’s news industry, which is struggling to adapt to new media consumption habits and the migration of advertisers toward foreign digital platforms theglobeandmail.com

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

17. That 2018 story reported: The government said the package will aim to help “trusted” news organizations, but will leave it to the media industry to define the application of the new initiatives. That was five years ago. Trudeau has lost patience. He's now going to decide.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

18. Trudeau introduced a news license called a QCJO licence: Qualified Canadian Journalism Organization. Trudeau gave himself the power to give or deny that licence: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/corporations/business-tax-credits/qualified-canadian-journalism-organization.html Until now, that licence mainly meant you got tax relief. Now it means something else.

Speaker 0: So how will this work? How are you gonna regulate websites? How are you gonna register all that? Are you do you buy these recommendations? Speaker 1: Well, I mean, the one of the recommendations, so you're talking about a cup a couple of different things here. But as far as the licensing is concerned, if you're a distributor of content in Canada, and obviously, you know, if if you're If you're a very small media organization, the requirement probably wouldn't be the same as if your Facebook or Google. So there would have to be some proportionality embedded into this, but we would ask that they have a license, yes.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

20. There was almost no pushback from the regime media, because they knew what it really meant — they’d get the licence, because Trudeau “trusts” them, but independent competitors would be shut down. It would ban their upstart competitors.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

21. There used to be some independent journalism NGOs in Canada, but they have been transformed into grant-seeking lobby groups who exist only to extract more bail-outs from Trudeau. They’d never criticize him — they are in perpetual begging mode and it shows.

23. Friday's announcement demanding that live streamers register with the govt is shocking but not surprising. Trudeau has been working on coopting the media since he was elected. He's about half-way through his plan. 99% of journalists are on the inside, so they're silent.

28. So that's what's happening. That's what Jordan Peterson is concerned about: You don't force journalists to "register" with the government unless you plan to regulate them, punish them, throttle them, ban them and even jail them.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

29. It's not just Jordan Peterson who will be forced to register, because of his Canadian residence. American broadcasters with Canadian audiences will, also. Nineteen out of the top 30 podcasts in Canada are American: https://chartable.com/charts/itunes/ca-news-podcasts They're covered by this decree.

30. It will be interesting to see if American podcasters will save us, because the Canadian media won't, for the reasons outlined above. Forcing American media to "register" is anathema to the First Amendment, and likely a violation of the USMCA trade agreement.

31. Trudeau doesn't care about much. He's known as a shallow man with no policy depth. He's 100% about spin and controlling the message. He has put forward not one but FOUR censorship bills; that's how obsessed he is. He really is like his father figure, isn't he?

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

32. We know that Trudeau has a hatred for Rebel News. He says so — look at his abusive answer to Alexa Lavoie, mere hours after the Federal Court found that he had violated our constitutional rights and ordered him to accredit us at this debate:

Merci.

Trudeau and Zelenskyy's recent actions raise concerns. In 2020, it was revealed that Canada allowed 2,000 Nazis to enter the country after WWII. One surviving Nazi, Yaroslav Hunka, was invited by Trudeau as an honored guest during Zelenskyy's visit to Parliament. Trudeau also met with a Holocaust denier in Ukraine. Furthermore, Freeland, a government official, has connections to far-right Ukrainian nationalist movements. These troubling associations highlight Trudeau and Freeland's Nazi problem. The media's silence on these matters is concerning.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

I hope I'm wrong. But I think Trudeau and Zelenskyy just did something terrible. Let me explain it in reverse. 1. In 2020, Canada's leading military affairs reporter wrote an article in a military journal about how Canada brought in 2,000 Nazis after the Second World War.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

2. The Nazis were in Hitler's 14th Waffen SS Division Galicia. According to military historian/journalist David Pugliese, they were able to sneak into Canada by changing their name and hiding their past.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

3. Here's what Pugliese wrote in the military journal, Esprite de Corps: In an attempt to hide the SS connection, the unit had changed its name in the last few days of the war to the First Division Ukrainian National Army. Source: espritdecorps.ca/history-featur…

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

4. That was nearly 80 years ago, so most of those Nazis have since died. But one of them is apparently still alive -- Yaroslav Hunka. And if I'm reading the news correctly, Trudeau invited him as an honoured guest today, to Zelenskyy's visit to Canada's Parliament.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

5. The Canadian Press wire service circulated this photo and caption. (This version is taken from The Toronto Star, but it was in many places). Look at the caption on the bottom.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

6. It says, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recognize Yaroslav Hunka, who was in attendance and fought with the First Ukrainian Division in the Second World War before later immigrating to Canada, in the House of Commons on Friday.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

7. Can that really be true? Did Justin Trudeau really invite a Nazi SS soldier from the Second World War to Parliament as an honoured guest? Please tell me I've got a fact wrong here. cc. @LevittMichael @AHousefather @mgeist @CIJAinfo @bnaibrithcanada

Ezra Levant, author of "The Libranos," is currently in Federal Court against Trudeau, who is attempting to censor his book. Levant faces trial for writing a critical book about Trudeau, with the government aiming to set a dangerous precedent by making it illegal to publish such books without registration. Despite 23 pro-Trudeau books in the 2019 Canadian election, Levant's book became a bestseller, leading to investigations and fines. Today's hearing will determine the fate of political freedom and the right to criticize the government. Trudeau's staff even dictate the words and pictures allowed for criticism. Levant's legal team is fighting back, but support from journalism organizations and civil liberties groups has been lacking. Levant seeks assistance to cover the costs and fight against this censorship.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

BREAKING: I’m in Federal Court against Trudeau today — he’s trying to censor my book about him. I’m sending this from the Federal Court of Canada. For the next eight hours I will be on trial for writing a book called The Libranos. There is an army of lawyers here from the Trudeau government. If they win, they will set a terrible precedent, making it illegal to publish books critical of politicians without first “registering” those books with the government. In the 2019 Canadian election, there were 24 books published about Justin Trudeau. 23 of those books were pro-Trudeau. And then there was my book, “The Libranos: What the Media Won’t Tell You About Justin Trudeau’s Corruption”. That enraged Trudeau — especially when it became a best seller. So Elections Canada assigned a dozen staff to investigate and prosecute me. They’ve been hounding me for four years. They have already fined me thousands of dollars. And I’ve had to spend $100,000 in legal fees. But I’ve appealed to the Federal Court. And today is the day that political freedom — and the right to criticize the government — lives or dies. You might be thinking, “there’s no way books can be banned in Canada just for criticizing Trudeau. It sounds too crazy.” See for yourself. Go to http://TheLibranos.com to see the court documents surrounding today’s hearing, including my lawyer’s submissions, and Trudeau’s accusations. Let me quote from a notice I received from the Manager of the Compliance Unit of Elections Canada’s censorship branch: “the book title’s reference to “Librano$“,which was clearly designed to create an association between the name of a registered party and The Sopranos, a mafia-themed television show, and to link the party to corruption… drawings of the show’s characters were replaced with drawings of the leader and other public figures of the party.” Trudeau’s staff are now deciding what words and even what pictures we can use to criticize Trudeau. He really meant it when he said China’s dictatorship is the country he most admires. You might recall that Trudeau assigned two 30-year veterans of the RCMP to go after me — one of whom specialized in counter-terrorism. Those senior cops interrogated me for an hour. I’ll never forget it: one of their questions was to ask me why I didn’t register my book with the government before I published it. Here’s their theory: they claim that because my book criticized Trudeau, it was campaign propaganda and had to be registered with the government. Even though Canada’s election laws specifically exempt books and the promotion of books. I’ll be live-tweeting the hearing today, and I’ll also give you a video update during breaks. I’ve got a great legal team: the same lawyers who beat Trudeau in 2019 when he tried to ban Rebel News reporters from attending the election debates. Hopefully we’ll beat Trudeau again, today. If not, a terrible precedent will be set. If you can help me cover the costs of this lawsuit, please do. I suppose I could just pay the fine and move on. But that would set an atrocious precedent. We have to fight back, and set a precedent for freedom. If you give me the tools, I’ll finish the job. Please click here to help me pay for today’s freedom lawsuit. Yours very gratefully, Ezra Levant Rebel News P.S. Not a single journalism organization or civil liberties group has said a word to support me. Amnesty International, PEN Canada, the Canadian Association of Journalists, Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association — not one of them has even issued a statement, let alone intervened in court. They don’t believe in freedom anymore — but I do. P.P.S. The smart move for me would be to pay the fine and move on. Challenging this censorship is 50 times more expensive. But how could I just accept Trudeau crushing one of our ancient civil liberties? I must fight — not just for my own book, but for everyone. Please help me at http://TheLibranos.com

Rebel News triumphs in court against Steven Guilbeault, defending freedom of speech and press. Guilbeault, like Trudeau, despises us for our independence. He blocked us on Twitter, denying access to government updates. We sued, and after a two-year battle, he settled. The court ordered him to unblock us, pay $20,000, and never ban us again. This victory sets a precedent against government censorship. Help us cover legal fees at http://TwitterLawsuitca. We remain under attack, but we'll keep fighting for freedom.

@ezralevant - Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

Rebel News just crushed Steven Guilbeault in the Federal Court of Canada. And in doing so, we struck a blow for freedom of speech and freedom of the press for everyone. Here’s some background. Like his boss Justin Trudeau, Steven Guilbeault hates Rebel News because he can’t control us. We’re one of the few media companies that doesn’t take government money, so we don’t toe the government line. So the Liberals always look for ways to punish us. Like Trudeau, Guilbeault doesn’t care about freedom of the press or other constitutional rights. They both admire China’s dictatorship and they think they can act like little dictators themselves, by censoring us. And they’re both thin-skinned and petty. So here’s what Guilbeault did. He ordered his government department to “block” us on Twitter. So we couldn’t receive any government news updates from his department’s Twitter account. We couldn’t read anything, we couldn’t reply, and of course we couldn’t ask him journalistic questions on Twitter. We were effectively kicked out of the public square, which is what Twitter has become. We were banned from a government service just because we disagreed with a politician. So we sued. We went to the Federal Court of Canada and argued that we had a right to see those tweets — that it was a government service like any other. Remember, this isn’t Guilbeault’s personal account, it’s his government account — he has more than 20 government staff who run his Twitter. It might sound like a small thing but if Guilbeault can cut us off from receiving news and other information from the government, what else can he cut off? We’ve already seen Trudeau ban companies who don’t agree with him from receiving summer jobs grants. What’s next? Guilbeault fought us for more than two years. We had a court hearing in Toronto this summer and the government had SEVEN lawyers in the court, all just to stop us from seeing their tweets. What a shocking waste of money. Well, today Guilbeault finally caved — he agreed to a “consent order” against him. His lawyers must have told him that he had no case and the choice was either to settle now, or be humiliated at trial. I should tell you, Guilbeault’s government lawyers tried to get me to sign a confidentiality clause, banning me from disclosing the details of his settlement. Even as he was admitting he had violating our rights, he wanted to keep it a secret. What a crooked, corrupt government this is. Guilbeault has been ordered by the court to un-block me and to never ban me again, as long as he’s an MP. It’s glorious to see. And Guilbeault has been ordered to pay Rebel News $20,000 for making us waste two years and enormous legal fees to assert our constitutional rights. Of course, he’ll probably make taxpayers pay that for him, even though it was he was broke the law. $20,000 sounds like a lot of money, and it is — but unfortunately, it’s just a fraction of what we had to spend to finally get this little thug to back down. (I can only imagine how much it cost taxpayers for Guilbeault to have SEVEN government lawyers defending him — he’ll probably try to keep that amount secret, too.) In some ways, today’s victory is a small thing. But having the Federal Court smack down government censorship is never a small thing. And it sets a precedent for all other bullies in Trudeau’s government, reminding them that they cannot use public resources to carry out a vendetta against their political critics. This is a win for all journalists. Because the precedent will apply to politicians of every political party. We have made Canada freer for everyone. That’s something that the “official” civil liberties groups used to do. But we were in court alone — not a peep from the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, or Canadian Journalists for Free Expression or the Canadian Association of Journalists or PEN Canada or Amnesty International. Not a single so-called civil liberties group intervened on our behalf, because they have all been colonized by Trudeau. They all support censorship. Well, Rebel News won anyways. Steven Guilbeault lost. And every Canadian is just a little bit freer. It’s a great day. Ezra Levant Rebel News P.S. I’m glad that court ordered Guilbeault to pay us $20,000 in legal fees. But in reality, we spent over $95,000. If you believe this is an important victory, please help us pay our legal bill by visiting http://TwitterLawsuit.ca (thanks). P.P.S. I’m savouring this victory over that sanctimonious creep Guilbeault. But unfortunately, Rebel News is under attack by other government censors, too. That’s the thing about the left: they’re relentless, and they hate the idea of an independent news organization that doesn’t obey them. If you can help us stay strong, please click http://TwitterLawsuit.ca. I promise I’ll keep fighting for freedom. (Thanks.) P.P.P.S. Special thanks to our freedom-fighting lawyers, led by Chad Williamson!
