I note that in April 2025, Laith Marouf—Beirut‑based former Canadian anti‑racism adviser whose funding was cancelled—told the panel that protest is useless without escalation. He said direct action will change realities and that forcing the American state to kill its own citizens was ideal, with people beaten on camera. I’m sickened the panel and NYC protest groups agreed. What activist groups thought this belonged on their panel?

In their April 2025 panel, the guest was Laith Marouf — a Beirut-based former Canadian government anti-racism consultant whose past remarks were condemned by Canada’s government, which later terminated the related funding arrangement. He then used the platform to argue that protest was useless without escalation. His exact line was “only direct action is gonna change the realities.” He called it “ideal” to force “the American state to start killing its own citizens,” and described people being “beaten to death in front of the cameras of the world.” What is sickening is that the panel, the groups that participated in the protest in NYC, agreed. What kind of activist groups thought this belonged on their panel?

Speaker 0 argues that non-Jews, non-Palestinians, non-Arabs—“the vast majority of Americans”—have the same possibilities to act as Palestine’s actions: occupy war factories, destroy them, put themselves in the way, even at the risk of being killed, even if they don’t want to carry arms. He says it would be ideal to force the American state to start killing its own citizens to defend the Zionist colony in violent ways, in a kind of salt march of India where people are ready to be beaten to death on camera. He asserts that anything below that is insignificant because there is no international law left, claiming that every agency and norm created after World War II does not exist and that only direct action can change the realities. Speaker 1 thanks the panelists—Leith Maroon, Hamid Sharabi, and Anwar—and announces a rally and march the following Saturday, May 3, in Astoria, Queens. The rally is described as being in solidarity with the armed struggle in Palestine and with the axis of resistance. Attendees are asked to bring flags, banners, and noisemakers to demonstrate support and solidarity with the armed struggle. It is stated that the liberation of Palestine will not be achieved through art shows, but through the armed struggle currently taking place in West Asia, and there is a call to show support and solidarity with that struggle. Speaker 0’s closing line is cut off, ending with “our.”

Speaker 0: Done. Our brothers and sisters that are not Jewish, they're not Palestinians, they're not Arab, they're basically the vast majority of Americans, you also have the same possibilities of going and occupying like Palestine's action does, the war factories and destroying them, putting yourself in the way, even at the risk of being killed, even if you don't want to carry arms. In fact, it would be ideal if you force the American state to start killing its own citizens to defend the Zionist colony in this way, in these violent ways, in putting yourself in some kind of like this salt march of India situation where people are ready to be beaten to death in front of the cameras of the world. Anything below that is insignificant at this point, because we have no more international law. There is none. Every agency and norms that we created after World War II do not exist right and only direct action is going to change the realities. Speaker 1: I want to thank our panelists one more time, so let's give it up for Leith Maroon, for Hamid Sharabi, and for Anwar. Thank you so much. And we're just gonna close out with an announcement. We have a rally and a march that is happening next Saturday, May 3. It's gonna be in Astoria, Queens. This is gonna be a rally that is in solidarity with the armed struggle in Palestine and with the axis of resistance. We're asking for folks to bring flags, banners, noisemakers, and let's show our support and solidarity with the armed struggle. The only way that Palestine will be liberated. As we heard from our panelists, it's not gonna be liberated unfortunately through art shows. All right. I'm sorry to say that it just won't. It will be liberated through the armed struggle that is happening right now in West Asia and we need to show Speaker 0: our

Barack Obama argues that rising outrage over federal agents’ tactics in Minnesota signals broader implications and a threat to basic freedoms. A reply questions whether the former president is the author of the post.

@BarackObama - Barack Obama

More and more Americans are voicing their outrage at the tactics being deployed by federal agents in Minnesota. But it’s important to understand the broader implications of what this administration is doing, and the threat it poses to the basic freedoms of every American.

- Speaker 0 states that criminals will be deported and that entering the US illegally increases the likelihood of being caught and sent back. They describe these actions as lawful and representative of the approach taken by every Republican and Democratic president for the past fifty years. - Speaker 1 asserts the need for tough conditions: people should be told to come out of the shadows, and if they have committed a crime, they should be deported with no questions asked; they will be removed. - Speaker 2 addresses widespread concern among all Americans about the large numbers of illegal aliens entering the country. They claim the jobs held by these individuals might otherwise be occupied by citizens or legal immigrants, and that public services used by them impose burdens on taxpayers. The administration is described as having moved aggressively to secure the borders by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, and by borrowing welfare benefits to illegal aliens. In the upcoming budget, there will be efforts to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, and to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace as recommended by the commission headed by former congresswoman Barbara Jordan. - Speaker 2 concludes by emphasizing that we are a nation of immigrants, but also a nation of laws. It is described as wrong and self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the abuse of immigration laws seen in recent years, and there is a stated commitment to doing more to stop it.

Speaker 0: If you're a criminal, you'll be deported. If you plan to enter The US illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back just went up. The actions I'm taking are not only lawful, they're the kinds of actions taken by every single Republican president and every single Democratic president for the past half century. Speaker 1: I think we gotta have tough conditions. Tell people to come out of the shadows. If they've committed a crime, deport them. No questions asked. They're gone. Speaker 2: All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected, but in every place in this country are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That's why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by borrowing welfare benefits to illegal aliens. In the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace as recommended by the commission headed by former congresswoman Barbara Jordan. We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.

🚨 Ron Gochez leads the Community Self-Defense Coalition, a group formed in 2025 comprising 60 grassroots organizations across Southern California. His speech today is inciting violence against federal and local law enforcement. Who is funding this coalition?! @DHSgov @DataRepublican

Video Transcript AI Summary
The speaker urges the audience to join an organization, specifically the Community Self Defense Coalition, which includes over 60 organizations in Southern California. The coalition unites diverse individuals, including anarchists, Catholics, atheists, Black, Filipino, trans people, men, and women, against a common enemy: "the pig." Organization is crucial; without it, individuals aren't part of the solution. Members of serious organizations are accountable to their comrades and committed to struggle. Through organization, the speaker believes they can liberate their people, indigenous lands, and everyone from the capitalist system. The speaker dismisses concerns about legality, arguing that historical injustices like the disenfranchisement of women, enslavement of African people, and near-extermination of indigenous people were once legal. The speaker believes that organization will allow them to defeat their oppressors, who are far fewer in number.

Speaker 0: And discipline organization to make those types of changes. So what I wanna do before I get my intervention today is I wanna invite all of you today to become members of an organization if you're not already a member of an organization. And if you are a member of the organization, I ask you to join the Community Self Defense Coalition. The Self Defense Coalition is made up of over 60 organizations throughout Southern California. We have all kinds of people. We just made an anarchist, brother. I'm not an anarchist, but I bet you one one thing is I can fight right next to anarchist against the pigs. Whoo. Some of us here may be Catholic. Some of us may be atheist. Some of us may be black. Some of us may be Filipino. Some of us may be women. Some of us may be men. Some of us may be trans. But what we all have in common right now is we have a common enemy, and that's the pig. So that's why we call for organization. If you are not organized, then you are not part of the solution. I'm sorry to break it to you. Coming out here is important, but it's more important to be disciplined and to be accountable to serious organization. If you're not, when there's an action, you go if you feel like it because nobody holds you accountable. But if you're a comrade from an organization that's serious about struggle, then you know you have to go because your comrades will hold you accountable. That's the type of organization that we need to liberate our people, to liberate these lands, the indigenous people's lands, and to liberate all of us, miss capitalist bullshit system that keeps all of us in the place that we're at. What about let's go about this new stabilization. So today, I make the call again. We have to believe that we can't out organize them. We can't defeat them. We can't defend ourselves because there's millions and millions of us and, like, 20,000 of them. If we organize, we can kick the asses out of every single ghetto, every single barrio, every single reservation, anywhere where our people are. And then several times we get asked about legality. Well, if they were legal, this wouldn't be an issue. If they came here legally, it wouldn't be an issue. Well, for people who ask such stupid questions, I'll remind them. Women weren't allowed to vote, and that was legal. African people were enslaved in this country, and that was legal. Indigenous people were wiped out almost in this country, and that was legal. Who gives a damn about legality when these people have their

We have every obligation to defend our people, community, and families by any means necessary. While not wanting to be violent, we are not nonviolent; we believe in self-defense. If someone comes at me or my family, I will do everything in my power, legal or not, to defend them. There are over 200 people detained in a dungeon in the basement, with no bathrooms, showers, enough food or water, and children are also being held there. This is a human rights violation. We have to liberate those people and fight for them. They are being held around the corner, and we are going to move down there so they can hear and see us and know they are not alone.

Speaker 0: To our neck. We have we have every single obligation, moral, historical. We have every reason to defend our people, to defend our community, to defend our families by whatever means necessary. I I don't wanna be a violent person. I don't think that I am. And I think most of my comrades and people here are not violent either. But what those people are doing every day in the streets of this country is using brutal violence, brutal and absolute violence against our communities. The black community knows this. The indigenous community knows this, and all undocumented people are feeling this. So while we don't wanna be violent, I also say this, we are not nonviolent. I'll say that. We are not nonviolent. That means we believe in self defense. And if you Speaker 1: come at me and my family, I will Speaker 0: do everything within my power, legal or not, Speaker 1: to defend my family and my people. Speaker 0: We have a history of that, and we will continue to live up to the legacy of struggle. So with that, the last thing I'll say is, as you know, there's over 200 people right now detained in a dungeon. Did y'all know that? It's a dungeon down there. It's the it's literally the basement. We received calls that people are down there in the basement. They have no bathrooms. They haven't showered in days. They have they don't have enough food or water, and there's children down there too. Besides evil, even within their own legal framework, that's a human rights violation. So we say we gotta liberate those people. We gotta fight for the people. So they're being held right around this corner. So in a few moments, we're all gonna move this. We're gonna go down there so that people can hear us and see us and know that they are not alone.
