Did you know that the first New York jews came from Brazil? It is 1654, and Brazil expels the jews. During the Dutch period, Recife became a center of trade. Jewish merchants, primarily Sephardic jews who had been previously expelled from Spain and Portugal, found a new opportunity in the Brazilian port. Freedom of religion provided by the Dutch rule was also an attractive option that led to the foundation of the first jewish community in the New World, in 1636. Recife then became home to the oldest synagogue in the Americas. But not long after the Portuguese reconquest of Recife in 1654, the jews had to leave the city. Most of the expelled jews returned to the Netherlands, while some settled in the Caribbean region. A group of 23 settled in Nieuw Amsterdam (New York) The governor, Peter Stuyvesant, opposed having those jews corrupting his town. He sought permission from the Netherlands to expel them as well, but influential jews in Holland made this impossible, and his efforts were ultimately blocked by the Dutch West India Company. New York’s first jews came from Brazil, and so it began the foundations of jewish life in North America. In 1664, the British took over New Amsterdam, renaming it to New York. The jews were then given more civil rights, and by 1706, they had organized their congregation, Shearith Israel.

In The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith links the development of Brazil's sugar industry and cultivation to the arrival of Porguese jews who were forced out of Portugal during the Inquisition. Those Sephardic jews were involved in various aspects of the sweet business, including sugar production, commerce, and most importantly, the transatlantic slave trade. The Sarmatians were also closely related to the Scythians, sharing similar origins and cultural aspects, being the Scythians a declining (I prefer evolution) force in the face of the Sarmatians' westward migration and military expansion. To explain it as simply as possible, the Scythians were dominant earlier, while the Sarmatians rose to prominence later, but in reality, it was more of a change of names and evolution of one tribe into another. Herodotos shares that Sarmatians: ‘Were originally Scythians mixed with Amazons. They speak Scythian, but ungrammatically, because the Amazons never learned it properly. The women go to war, ride out hunting, and wear the same clothes as men. Before a woman can marry, she must kill a man of the enemy. ‘ Later, the Sarmatians' historical presence in the same region as the Cossacks and their known nomadic lifestyle have served as evidence that the Cossacks are descended from Sarmatian groups.
