I believe the recent actions by President Trump regarding immigration funding are pivotal. He signed an executive order halting refugee admissions and directed the State Department to stop funding NGOs involved in refugee resettlement. These organizations, heavily reliant on taxpayer money, have been accused of undermining U.S. immigration laws. Many operate almost entirely on federal grants, facilitating the immigration process and providing financial support to migrants. This shift in funding represents a significant change in the immigration landscape, which I see as a major victory against these NGOs.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

This is arguably the single most important aspect of Trump's funding freeze. The immigration crisis isn't an accident. It's a well-oiled system, facilitated by powerful NGOs—and funded by your tax dollars. By defunding the NGOs, Trump is crippling the entire system. 🧵 https://t.co/OJs1GN0O3y

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Here's what just happened: Last week, President Trump signed an executive order suspending refugee admissions into the U.S. Then, the State Department went a step further—they issued a "stop-work" order to their NGO "partners," suspending all funding for refugee resettlement. https://t.co/TU6TgRTEzO

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The NGOs were beside themselves. And for good reason—very few of these groups are self-sufficient. Most of them are sustained by the federal tax-dollar gravy train. The immigration crisis is being financed by your government—with your money. Hence, their outraged statements: https://t.co/KfxDJMtwg1

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

To be clear, these NGOs exist to subvert U.S. immigration law at every step of the process—actively transporting migrants into the country, fighting enforcement efforts at the border, resettling migrants in American towns and cities, and lobbying for open border policies in D.C. https://t.co/ZYMjlIcDMq

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

And again, they've been doing it on your dime. For the past four years, The Biden State Department has been mainlining taxpayer funds to groups that run an end-to-end mass migration network, beginning deep in South America and finishing with resettlement in American communities. https://t.co/UuZqmEZhoP

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

They provide "humanitarian transportation" to ferry immigrants up to our border, waypoints with shelter and medical services along the way, Spanish-language maps showing the best route to the U.S., and legal services for immigrants to beat our immigration laws once they get here. https://t.co/ZfuKr7gAIn

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Oh, and money. They just give them cash cards, vouchers, and often even just stacks of cash in envelopes. Tough to think of a more direct 1:1 redistribution: You pay your taxes. Your government sends that money to the NGOs. The NGOs hand it to immigrants. You work, they benefit. https://t.co/NsnIyYziPP

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Ten of these major immigration NGOs—known as VOLAGS ("Voluntary Agencies")—have contracts with the State Department's Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), which provides them with the funding to resettle migrants in the U.S. These are the ten VOLAGS in question: https://t.co/43lGcF7hEs

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Most of these groups are only able to operate because of the federal government. Take the USCCB: In 2023, they received $129.6M in federal grants for migration services. They spent $130.5M on migration services. Their immigration activities are almost 100% taxpayer-funded. https://t.co/dAgiXcgFxs

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Or take the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service. (Which, unlike the USCCB as an overall organization, is exclusively focused on immigration). In FY 2023, 96.65% of their revenue came from federal grants and contracts, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. https://t.co/q30J9qkzah

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Or take the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society—a group that we made an entire video about last year. (See below). Biden DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas served on their board until taking a job in the Biden admin. Surprise, surprise—after he took office, their funding skyrocketed. https://t.co/7hwpgZps7S

@America_2100 - America 2100

Alejandro Mayorkas is fully in bed with the open borders lobby. Until 2020, he served on the board of HIAS — a radical left-wing group that is actively ferrying illegals into America. He was never serious about border security. The Senate must impeach. https://t.co/yTlpQYHeAQ https://t.co/w36fGap0NX

Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, is facing impeachment due to his role in the ongoing border crisis. His connection to open borders began before his current position; he served on the board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), which advocates for open immigration policies. The Biden administration has deep ties to various NGOs that facilitate immigration, including HIAS, which provides resources for immigrants and lobbies for amnesty. HIAS, founded in 1881, has shifted its focus to assist all refugees, receiving significant funding from government grants, including from DHS. Critics argue that these policies contribute to a crisis marked by increased crime and suffering at the border, contradicting the idealistic vision of immigration policy.

Speaker 0: Alejandro Mayorkas is the chief architect of the American border crisis. Right now, the house is trying for the second time to impeach Biden DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The yeas are 214 and the nays are 213. The resolution is adopted. You've seen the videos of the crisis at our southern border. You've read the tragic stories of the Americans who have been killed by the drugs and crime pouring into our country. You may have even read about the ways in which Mayorkas' policies at the Department of Homeland Security have facilitated this disaster. But what you might not know is that Mayorkas' role in our open borders crisis started years before he joined the Biden administration. Prior to his current position as the head of the Department of Homeland Security, Mayorkas served on the board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society or HIAS. The organization is part of a sprawling coalition of NGOs, activist groups, and nonprofits hailing from a wide range of both religious and secular backgrounds that partner with both United Nations and the US government to push for open borders. The Biden administration's connections to this network run deep, well beyond Mayorkas and HIAS. Robin Marcos, the Director of Biden's Office of Refugee Resettlement, previously served as the Senior Director of Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration Programming for the International Rescue Committee, a powerful NGO that helps to aid and coordinate the flow of immigration up to the US border. Katie Tobin, who served as a senior border advisor on Biden's National Security Council, previously worked for Annunciation House, a major Catholic immigration nonprofit which is currently being sued by the state of Texas for helping to facilitate illegal immigration. Mayorkas joined the board of HIAS in 2020. HIAS bills itself as the world's oldest refugee agency. The group was founded in 18/81 and was originally dedicated to aiding and advocating for Jewish refugees fleeing persecution in Russia and Eastern Europe. Over the past few decades, however, the group's focus has expanded to include all refugees of every religious and national background. The group's leaders see themselves as humanitarians who help to provide vital services to refugees and asylum seekers around the world. HIAS, welcome the stranger. Protect the refugee. But in practice, HIAS and groups like it play a critical role in our open borders crisis. At the government level, HIAS regularly lobbies for open borders, amnesty, and uncontrolled immigration. On the ground, the group actively facilitates the ongoing invasion with everything from cash cards and vouchers for immigrants arriving at our border to Spanish language maps showing immigrants how to get here to providing tents, shelter, and legal and medical services for immigrants to use during their journey up to the US border. Once they've made it into America, HIAS helps to resettle them in communities across the country. All of this is funded by your tax dollars. HIAS had an operating budget of more than $162,000,000 in 2022. Nearly half of its funding came from government grants, including from Mayorkas' DHS. Millions of tax dollars in those government grants were explicitly earmarked for the group's efforts to fund and support immigration from South America. Since Biden took office, the number of tax dollars hold a utopian vision of immigration policy. A world without borders. But in the real world, their policies do not lead to utopia. They lead to death, destruction, and misery. The crisis at our border is living proof. For more stories like this, follow America 21100.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

If you're looking for the villain at the center of the immigration crisis, it's these guys. The refugee NGOs are a fifth column in American politics. And they've essentially been acting as an extension of the federal government. But not anymore. This is a big, big win.

You can check out my deep-dive thread on mass deportations from earlier this month here:

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In 1954, 750 Border Patrol agents deported 1.1 million illegals in the space of a few months. Today, we have 21,000 Border Patrol agents—and far more advanced technology. Mass deportations are reasonable, necessary and possible. We've done it before—and we can do it again. 🧵 https://t.co/K2QrzqTajp

And yesterday’s thread on how the “online right” won:

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

For years, we were told that "the internet isn't real life." But in this election, it was. Online influencers, issues and ideas played a major role in the 2024 election—especially on the right. Today's right is more "online" than the left—and that's part of why it's winning. 🧵 https://t.co/jxzosG8XOb

I've been observing a troubling trend regarding immigrant crime across various Western countries. In Germany, foreigners, who make up only 13% of the population, account for a significant portion of serious crimes, including 67% of gang rape suspects. Similar patterns emerge in Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands, where immigrants are disproportionately represented among crime suspects. Reports from Italy and Spain reveal that foreign-born individuals commit a large share of youth crime and serious offenses. This issue is not limited to one country; it's a widespread concern across Europe and beyond.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

It's not just Britain, by the way. This is happening all across the West. It's tough to measure immigrant crime in the U.S., because very few states track immigration status in their criminal justice system. But Europe does. And the numbers are genuinely incredible. 🧵 https://t.co/F64TwkASkO

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Take Germany, for example—the country with the largest share of refugees in Europe. Foreigners are just 12% of the German population. But they account for 67% of gang rape suspects. Afghans alone are 70 TIMES more likely to be involved in gang rapes than Germans. https://t.co/vYSHtPWVxQ

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In Germany, foreigners make up just 13% of the population. But as a share of crime suspects, they are responsible for: Homicides: 42% Rapes: 37% Assaults: 32% Burglaries: 39% That's especially true for certain nationalities—and for certain crimes. (H/T @Marc_Vanguard_i) https://t.co/tw73VokNx2

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In 2022, @RCInvestigates published a study of EU homicide data and migration rates from 2010-2020. They found that "each one percentage point increase in immigrant population is associated with a 3.6 percent increase in the homicide rate." Here's what it looks like in Sweden: https://t.co/gUL9njoEuo

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Immigrants and their children are 33% of Sweden's population. But from 2013-2017, they were 58% of all crime suspects. For murder/attempted murder and manslaughter, they were a whopping 73%. They were 2.2X more likely than natives to be suspected of rape. For murder, it was 4X. https://t.co/yjJ5YmVUGl

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In Denmark, non-Western immigrants and their descendants have an approximately 3.5 times higher rate of violent crime than native Danes. Again, that disparity increases substantially when you break it down by nationality—even when you adjust for age, sex and year. https://t.co/8sqQp9M6tt

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The same is true in Norway in Finland. In Norway, immigrants from places like Afghanistan, Somalia and Iraq are over 3X more likely to commit violent crime, relative to the native population. In Finland, that disparity is even higher. https://t.co/OFY11CGgfv

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In the Netherlands, non-Western immigrants make up 14% of the population. But as a share of crime suspects, they comprise: Sexual offenses: ~35% Assaults: ~40% Violent thefts: ~60% The disparity between natives and foreigners holds even after controlling for socioeconomics. https://t.co/q5vLergKVC

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The euphemistically-termed "grooming gangs" issue isn't just in Britain. A report published last year by the Dutch government found that almost three-quarters of perpetrators of domestic sexual exploitation were either foreign-born or children of foreign-born. https://t.co/pitPfI2vRm

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In Italy, government figures from 2022 show that nearly *half* of *all* youth crime is committed by the foreign-born—despite the fact that they make up just over 10% of that demographic. The foreign-born share of crime in Italy jumped nearly 10X from 1990-2009. https://t.co/Lumjx5BMpl

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In major European cities like Paris—which have been totally transformed by mass migration—the numbers are even more stark. Paris has one of the largest concentrations of immigrants in Europe. 41% of Parisians under the age of 20 have at least one foreign-born parent. https://t.co/Fcbjt9rWnj

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In Switzerland, the foreign-born make up 26% of the total population. But as a share of crime suspects, they are: Homicides: 44% Rapes: 47% Assaults: 45% Afghan/Pakistani migrants are 3X more likely than natives to be convicted of a crime. Africans are 5X more likely. https://t.co/uP3m5ehfFY

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In Austria, foreigners are responsible for 40% of all crime. In major cities like Vienna, they commit more than half of all crime. And again—unsurprisingly—a few specific groups are punching way above their weight class. https://t.co/OEpuELtjlI

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Finally: In Spain, the foreign-born make up just 12% of the population. But as a share of crime suspects, they are: Homicides: 32% Rape: 39% Armed Robbery: 47% Foreigners are 3.6X more likely than native-born Spaniards to be accused of homicide, and 4.7X more likely for rape. https://t.co/5yiVYqKjBg

Big business and the federal government are transforming Charleroi into a workers' barracks, erasing its history and identity. The residents, who built and contributed to the town, are being ignored as their community changes drastically without their consent. Many locals feel that no one cares about their struggles; if Charleroi were to disappear, it would go unnoticed by the outside world. The burden of inflation and other challenges is overwhelming for those on fixed incomes, adding to their hardships. While some understand the influx of newcomers, they hold those responsible for these changes accountable for the community's decline.

Speaker 0: Big business, working in conjunction with the federal government, is effectively converting Charleroi into a gigantic workers' barracks. A company town, but not for Americans. The people of Charleroi are paying for this with their tax dollars. It's enabled by the houses they built, on the streets they paved, in the businesses they used to work in. This was their town. It was their home. At a certain point, there simply won't be a Charleroi anymore. It might have the same name, but it will be a completely different place altogether. The town that began more than a century ago, its memories, its history, its way of life itself will just disappear. The people who live in Charleroi didn't vote for this. Nobody ever even thought to ask them. But it's happening anyways, in Charleroi and in American towns just like it all across the country. Speaker 1: Again, nobody cares. If you weren't here, if this didn't happen in Ohio, nobody cares about this. This place could slide into that river over there, and the only people that would care would be the ones right in those houses over there. Nobody else would ever know what happened. Speaker 2: So nobody ever really got their voices heard on anything and then just piling more and more and more. And then whenever you see the natives from this area in particular Yeah. Going somewhere else, it's bad. Yeah. We always just fight, survive, make it happen. Yeah. Find a way to make it happen. There's there's a lot of fighting people around here, and it takes a lot for people to quit. Yeah. And that's happening. Speaker 1: You know, a lot of people that are on fixed incomes here, and inflation has destroyed them. Yeah. And this is just one more thing piled up on people's heads that they can't they can't deal with. They don't have any solution for. Speaker 2: So I don't I don't blame them for coming here. Speaker 1: I blame the people who did it. That's that's who really needs to be held accountable.

Harvard's contrasting treatment of two presidents highlights the issues plaguing modern academia. Larry Summers faced backlash and resignation for suggesting innate gender differences in science, while Claudine Gay, with a thin publication record and plagiarism accusations, was unanimously supported. This exemplifies political favoritism and corruption. Recent data shows declining trust in higher education. Elite academia seems to reward well-connected left-wingers like Lori Lightfoot, Chesa Boudin, and Anthony Fauci. Americans are waking up to these problems.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

A Tale of Two Harvard Presidents In 2006, Harvard president Larry Summers was forced to resign. His crime, among other things, was a speech he had given the year prior, in which he suggested that gender disparities in science and engineering might be the result of innate differences between men and women. The speech led to a furious backlash, and a no-confidence vote from Harvard faculty. When Summers became president of Harvard in 2001, he boasted an impressive resume: He had served as the Secretary of the US Treasury, chief economist at the World Bank, and the youngest-ever Harvard economics professor to achieve tenure. He had published six books and well over 100 academic articles. None of his work had ever been accused of plagiarism. Fast forward to 2022: Harvard appoints Claudine Gay to serve as its newest president. At the time, Gay had published a career total of 11 academic articles. For context, Summers published more than that in the single year of 1987. Gay had never published an academic book. As David Randall of @NASorg noted when she was appointed, "very few professors can even get tenure with so thin a publication record — absent the tailwind from [diversity] quotas." But Gay was able to ascend to the most prestigious position at the most prestigious university in the world. Now, thanks to the reporting of @realchrisrufo and @realChrisBrunet, we know that Gay's anemic academic output wasn't even all hers. She lifted entire paragraphs of her work from other authors, without proper attribution. As we saw with Larry Summers, Harvard presidents have been ousted for far less. But in spite of all that, the Harvard board is unanimously standing by Gay — and the legacy media is circling the wagons. This is business as usual for modern academia: Political favoritism, racial preferences, and corrupt self-dealing. It's a racket. And if the polls are any indication, Americans are finally beginning to realize as much.

I should clarify that @aaronsibarium was the reporter who found that Gay had lifted entire paragraphs from other people's work and claimed them as her own — read his comprehensive @FreeBeacon report here: https://freebeacon.com/campus/this-is-definitely-plagiarism-harvard-university-president-claudine-gay-copied-entire-paragraphs-from-others-academic-work-and-claimed-them-as-her-own/

'This is Definitely Plagiarism': Harvard University President Claudine Gay Copied Entire Paragraphs From Others’ Academic Work and Claimed Them as Her Own Harvard University president Claudine Gay plagiarized from numerous academics over the course of her academic career, at times airlifting entire paragraphs and claiming them as her own work, according to reviews by several scholars. In four papers published between 1993 and 2017, including her doctoral dissertation, Gay, a political scientist, paraphrased or quoted nearly 20 authors—including two of her colleagues in Harvard University’s department of government—without proper attribution, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis. freebeacon.com

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

I noted this in the replies, but Larry Summers' 2005 speech—which argued that innate differences might explain some disparities between men and women in science—caused one MIT professor to fear that she "was going to be sick," because "this kind of bias makes me physically ill."

Van Jones, a prominent figure, expressed his desire for the white majority to become a minority and embrace it. He strongly criticized Vivek for discussing the Great Replacement theory, calling him a despicable demagogue. While America's shift towards a majority-minority status is acknowledged and celebrated, raising concerns about potential negative consequences is often met with harsh criticism. The question remains: why are these concerns dismissed?

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The replacement migration debate is probably the single most brazen example of this phenomenon. It's an empirical fact that America is on track to become majority-minority — nobody actually disputes that. In fact, it's regularly celebrated as a good thing. Here's NYT in 2018:

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Just a few months ago, The Hill trumpeted the fact that "America's white majority is aging out," noting that "demographers and economists celebrate the nation’s growing diversity as vital to a prosperous future." https://t.co/PG4rDdpyYq

But the second that anyone on the right notices — let alone (gasp!) raises concerns about the potential negative consequences — it's "one step away from Nazi propaganda," as Van Jones himself put it in the @EndWokeness clip. Why does anyone still take these people seriously?

The ADL's covert campaign against the John Birch Society has been exposed. Historian Matthew Dallek uncovered a secret counterintelligence operation spanning from 1959 to the 1970s. ADL spies, including police officers and journalists, used extreme tactics to gather damaging information. They even collaborated with US intelligence agencies. The ADL's close ties with the media were leveraged to threaten and discredit Birchers. This reveals a pattern of illegal espionage by the ADL, undermining the principle of open debate in a free society.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

For over a decade, the ADL used undercover spies to conduct a vast, coordinated, and potentially illegal campaign of espionage against the John Birch Society. Until this year, that campaign was a secret. It was uncovered by a historian digging through historical archives. 🧵

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In March, GWU historian Matthew Dallek published a book about the John Birch Society (JBS), a hard-right anticommunist org that was prominent in the 60s and 70s. During the research process, Dallek was given access to a trove of internal ADL documents from that time period.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

What Dallek uncovered was “a lengthy, multidimensional, and previously undisclosed counterintelligence operation waged by the ADL to infiltrate and dig up damaging information about” JBS, spanning from 1959 to the 1970s—and involving current and former US intelligence officials.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The ADL's spies — which included police officers, accountants, religious leaders, journalists, and members of civil society — used code names to pose as Birchers, feeding intel back to the ADL. The tactics they used to collect that intel were highly secretive—and often extreme:

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

"Some of the ADL’s financial investigations, from using third parties for credit checks to fishing for data about individuals’ trusts, may even have been illegal," Dallek wrote. But for the ADL, the ends "justified the morally questionable means, which included outright spying."

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

According to Dallek, the ADL utilized a kind of proto-doxxing: Spies "searched for connections between the society and respectable individuals and institutions, to embarrass them into renouncing" JBS. As a result, "Birchers...sometimes found their careers in jeopardy."

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

This was carried out through the ADL's close relationship with members of the media, which it leveraged to threaten Birchers, derail JBS events, and coordinate public pressure campaigns—an early version of the advertiser boycotts the ADL uses against figures like @elonmusk today.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

One of the key figures in this operation was Isadore Zack, a former counterespionage expert for the US Army. During WWII, Zack worked in "domestic intelligence" — i.e., spying on other Americans — as detailed in this 2001 piece from a local paper: https://www.patriotledger.com/story/special/2001/11/08/a-world-war-ii-counterintelligence/37966923007/

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

After the war, Zack became director of "fact-finding and public relations" for the ADL’s New England region, overseeing "a cadre of ADL spies." Unsurprisingly, Dallek writes, those spies "employed techniques that were on par with government-backed clandestine operations." https://t.co/mNePwWzwxU

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Under Zack's leadership, the ADL worked directly with US intelligence agencies. Zack was in regular contact with the FBI, feeding intel to J. Edgar Hoover's Subversive Trends of Current Interest Program, which "recorded thousands of pages of material" about JBS. https://t.co/xNldWkAD8k

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

It wouldn't be the first—nor the last—time the the ADL worked with government intelligence agencies to take down political dissidents. As @shellenberger documents here, the group has a long history of illegal espionage, extending well into the modern era. https://t.co/bavNMnwhqs

@shellenberger - Michael Shellenberger

ADL’s Spying For Governments Although ADL is currently focused on demonizing Trump supporters as “domestic terrorists,” it has a history of partnering with the state and law enforcement to target the Left. In the 1950s, ADL cooperated with the House Committee on Un-American…

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The point here isn't that you should agree with the politics of the JBS — a group that was known for kooky, fringe conspiracy theories — or any of the other groups that the ADL has spied on. The point is that in a free society, ideas should be hashed out in the public square.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Since its inception, the ADL has sought to undermine that principle, and has opted instead for the use of subterfuge tactics against its ideological opponents. It's not a "noble" organization that has simply lost its way; it's been like this from the start. #BanTheADL
