The Jan 6 riot was disgusting, but the Durham Report is 100x worse. It revealed our highest law enforcement agency trying to undo an election on ZERO evidence. It disrupted a presidency for 3 years. Democrats should feel far worse about the RussiaTrump investigation than J6. They should be far angrier and more concerned about democracy.

I was so disgusted by the Jan. 6 riot that I deleted my Twitter account. I wrote introspective pieces on wanting to be part of the solution. (And I never liked Trump, and I thought Biden beat him.) The Durham Report is 100x worse than Jan. 6. It didn’t reveal a handful of nuts getting out of hand & stealing a lectern. It revealed our highest law enforcement agency trying to undo an election on ZERO evidence. It didn’t disrupt a formal nomination proceeding for 3 hours. It disrupted a presidency for 3 years.

If you are a Democrat, you should feel FAR WORSE about the Russia-Trump investigation than you did about J6. You should be FAR ANGRIER. You should be far more concerned about democracy.

Disney's immense political power was brought to bear against the will of Florida's voters and elected representatives. The left recruited Disney to the fight precisely because it had immense cultural, political, and financial power. Ron DeSantis recognized the power disparity and took offense to a California corporation announcing its vow to bully the people of Florida with money and power. Disney tried to defy Florida by cutting a secret deal to protect its interests in Reedy Creek, but the deal is going to be blown up, and Disney will experience actual blowback from its vow to overturn protections for Florida parents and children.

Ron DeSantis & the FL legislature are about to notch a final win over Disney in the Reedy Creek kerfuffle, & the left are furious. They aren’t furious that Disney is reaping the crop of its political activities. They’re furious Disney lost the fight. 1x

Starting point for this discussion begins with remembering who/what Disney is: one of the wealthiest, most powerful & influential companies in the world. In 2022, the FL legislature took up the Parental Rights in Education bill. This bill (now law) was (and is) very popular. It prohibits *classroom instruction* on sexual orientation & “gender identity” for kids 3rd grade & younger. Hugely popular for good reason. 3x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

The law recognizes fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children. FL legislators did the real work of democracy. One mom testified about how her kid was being indoctrinated with something called “the genderbread person.” 4x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

60% of Americans - and even a majority of FL Democrats - supported the bill. So, the left turned to a political champion: Disney. In early March 2022, the left hit Disney with a barrage of criticisms for not doing enough to fight the bill. 5x https://www.npr.org/2022/03/08/1085130633/disney-response-florida-bill-dont-say-gay

The media, the far left “Human Rights Campaign” and every lgbt organization came together to pressure Disney to lead the political battle against the bill. They knew the public was for the law. They needed POWER. About this same time, the indispensable @realchrisrufo exposed what was going on inside Disney. The company was already deeply entrenched in cultural battle for lgbtq influence aimed at children. So, that’s the background for when @GovRonDeSantis signed the Parental Rights bill into law. Disney’s response was quick & strong. It vowed to lead the fight to repeal the popular law just enacted through the Democratic process. 9x https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/28/disney-vows-to-help-repeal-dont-say-gay-law.html

Disney vows to help repeal 'Don't Say Gay' law, says Florida Gov. DeSantis shouldn't have signed it Disney has vowed to help have Florida's HB 1557 law, which is known as the "Don't Say Gay" bill, repealed. cnbc.com

@politicalsock - Political Sock

So, one of the most powerful companies in America (based in CA) made a vow to overturn a law supported by the people & the government of FL. Disney was wading fully into political battle. One must ask, at this point, what political force would or could stand against Disney? 10x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

The left recruited Disney to the fight precisely because it had immense - potentially unmatched - cultural, political & financial power. What champion was there to stand against Disney? Should a handful of political actors in the Disney board room dominate over the voters? 11x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

Ron DeSantis recognized the power disparity, and he took offense to a CA corporation announcing its vow to bully the people of FL with money & power. RDS announced that if Disney wanted to wage political war against FL, then FL would respond. 12x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

FL had given Disney an absurd sweetheart deal where Disney essentially ran its own nation within FL’s borders - the “corporate kingdom.” If Disney vowed to use its immense power to defy FL voters, then Disney could do without special gifts from the state. 13x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

Of course, surrender monkeys like David French made dishonest comparisons to try to protect Disney from accountability. Holy cow, this one is a doozy. San Antonio tried to ban Chick-fil-A from its airport for the offense of…donating money to the Salvation Army & the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. (Seriously, that’s why the left is angry at Chick-fil-A.) French offered no real suggestions, however, as to how to protect FL kids from gender ideologues or to counter the power of a company like Disney. 14x

@politicalsock - Political Sock

And so, returning to the present, Disney again tried to defy FL by cutting a secret deal to protect its interests in Reedy Creek. That deal is going to be blown up, and Disney will experience actual blowback from its vow to overturn protections for FL parents & children.

@politicalsock - Political Sock

The left would have you believe that Disney should not have been opposed by, well, anyone with enough power to oppose it. But the left’s outcry is only because it’s chosen champion suffered defeat. They pushed Disney into the fight because they wanted to WIN. This isn’t about principle. It’s frustration that they finally lost a battle. Thank you, FL and Ron DeSantis, for standing up to the Mouse Bully. /fin
