When talking about Greenland, Senator Ted Cruz said: “To become an American is the greatest gift we can give anyone on planet Earth.” https://t.co/J4FemSYcg0

Video Transcript AI Summary
Speaker 0 discusses Greenland as a serious policy proposal and recounts a recent exchange with the Danish ambassador to the United States. Denmark is described as being uneasy about the conversation around Greenland. The speaker emphasizes that Denmark is a friend and ally, and that friends and allies can have conversations. The ambassador stated that Greenland is not for sale, to which the speaker responded that “everything's for sale” and that a conversation will take place. The speaker notes that this discourse has contributed to a growing independence movement in Greenland. If Denmark does nothing, Greenland may end up with nothing and could break off on their own. It is presented as plausible that Greenlanders, about 50,000 in number, might decide to become American. A recent poll in Greenland showed positive results regarding this possibility. The speaker asserts that becoming American would be, in many ways, “the greatest gift we can give anyone on planet Earth.”

Speaker 0: Greenland, on the other hand, I think, is a very serious policy proposal. Yeah. Yeah. I'll tell you I had a conversation this week with the Danish ambassador to The United States. And look. Denmark's a little freaked out by all this conversation. Yep. And I'll tell you what I told the ambassador. I said, listen. Denmark is our friend. You are our ally. You will continue to be our friend and ally. But friends and allies can have conversation. And the ambassador said, well, Greenland's not for sale. I said, that's fine. Everything's for sale. We're gonna have a conversation. And by the way, if you maintain that, one of the things this has produced is a growing independence movement in Greenland. Totally. And if you do nothing, you may end up getting nothing for Greenland because they break off on their own. Totally. Right. I find it quite plausible that the Greenlanders, about 50,000 of them, would say, wait a second. I get to be an American? Their poll just showed positive results. They just did a survey there. To become an American is, in many ways, the greatest gift we can give anyone on planet Earth.

I shared seven key facts about Operation “Spiderweb,” a remarkable Ukrainian special operation. It took 1.5 years of meticulous planning. Special cargo containers concealed drones, which were transported by unwitting Russian drivers over 5,000 kilometers. The operation involved remotely opening truck roofs to release drones targeting Russian air bases. After launching, the trailers self-destructed to evade detection. The strikes damaged over 40 aircraft, crippling 34% of Russia’s strategic missile carriers and inflicting around $7 billion in damage. This operation represents a significant defeat for Russia and will be studied for years to come.

Seven facts about Operation “Spiderweb” — a Ukrainian strike that will go down in history as one of the most successful special operations ever conducted. 1. Ukrainian special forces spent 1.5 years preparing and planning the attack. 1/n https://t.co/CZHUS6OmRZ

2/ 2. Special cargo containers were custom-designed (see photos) to conceal drones. The drones were hidden in wooden boxes mounted beneath the container roofs. https://t.co/APSKnadbim

3/ 3. Unwitting russian drivers were hired to transport the trucks near russian air bases. The total distance to the targets was approximately 5,000 kilometers.

8/ This is one of the greatest russian defeats in modern history — not just a blow, but a surgical strike against the core of russia’s long-range strike capabilities. The Ukrainian operation will be studied in military textbooks for decades to come.

9/ This is how you stop a war: by crippling your enemy’s ability to wage it. Slava Ukraini.

I resigned as U.S. ambassador to Ukraine due to Trump's foreign policy, which I believe unfairly pressures Ukraine instead of holding Russia accountable. After nearly three decades of service, I could no longer support a policy that allows a democracy to be invaded and children to be harmed. Peace at any price is not true peace; it leads to more suffering. Russia's invasion has resulted in countless atrocities, and how we respond will impact global security, including our relationships with NATO allies and China. The America I believe in would never stand by in the face of such evil.

Powerful text from Bridget Brink: I was U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. I resigned because of Trump's foreign policy. I have proudly served five presidents ― to make sure the United States is the strongest, greatest country that the world has ever known. 1/n https://t.co/gdHq8c89Jg

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

2/ I respect the president’s right and responsibility to determine U.S. foreign policy ― with proper checks and balances by U.S. Congress. It is the role of America’s Foreign Service to execute that policy.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

3/ Unfortunately, the policy since the beginning of the Trump administration has been to put pressure on the victim, Ukraine, rather than on the aggressor, Russia.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

4/ As such, I could no longer in good faith carry out the administration’s policy and felt it was my duty to step down. After nearly three decades serving our country, I resigned as our ambassador to Ukraine.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

5/ I cannot stand by while a country is invaded, a democracy bombarded, and children killedwith impunity. I believe that the only way to secure U.S. interests is to stand up for democracies and to stand against autocrats.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

6/ Peace at any price is not peace at all ― it is appeasement. And history has taught us time and again that appeasement does not lead to safety, security or prosperity. It leads to more war and suffering.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

7/ Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, it has done what can only be described as pure evil: killed thousands of civilians, including 700 children, with missiles and drones that hit their homes and apartments in the dead of night

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

8/ It has committed over 150,000 war crimes, abducted 20,000 children from their families, and forced millions of men, women and children to flee into Europe and elsewhere.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

9/ For three years I heard the stories, saw the brutality, and felt the pain of families whose sons and daughters were killed and wounded by Russian missiles and drones that hit playgrounds, churches and schools.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

10/ Over a career spent in conflict zones, I’ve seen mass atrocities and wanton destruction first-hand but we have never seen violence so systematic, so widespread and so horrifying in Europe since World War II.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

11/ Why does Russia’s invasion of Ukraine matter to the United States? It matters because how we handle this war will speak volumes to our friends as well as our foes. If we allow Putin to redraw borders by force, he won’t stop with Ukraine.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

12/ Taken at his word, Putin’s ambition is to resurrect an imperial past ― and he can’t do that without threatening the security of our NATO allies.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

13/ And if Putin succeeds, it sends signals to China that will undermine the security balance in Asia and throughout the world. That will have profound implications for America’s safety, security, and prosperity.

@rshereme - Roman Sheremeta 🇺🇸🇺🇦

14/ Russia’s war is about more than foreign policy or economics. It’s about who we are. The America I love, the one our grandparents served, would never stand by and let such horrors happen.
