Speaker 1: Troy Simpkins says almost every evening for the last year, he'd look out the window, seeing Tristan on a jog. He was a sophomore at Sycamore High School and ran cross country for the school. Speaker 2: He always ran in the afternoons. Sometimes he would run twice a day. Speaker 1: Sometimes he'd stop by and say hello. Speaker 2: He would run-in the afternoon when Tom would be outside with a dog. And quite a few times, he would run over and just quickly pet the dog and say hi, and he would just keep on running. Speaker 1: Just yesterday, Simpkins glanced out the window. Speaker 2: I saw him run past just like I have many, many times, and I didn't really think anything of it. Speaker 1: But moments later Speaker 2: My husband brought our dog out, which he does every day after his his workday is done. And there was a gentleman 2 doors down that was waving at him like trying to get his attention. Speaker 1: Tristan had collapsed. The group called 911 and tried to help him, but quickly learned there was nothing they could do. Speaker 2: It's been something that Tom was sort of still dealing with this morning. Speaker 1: But nothing like what Franklin's family is going through, he says. Speaker 2: My heart just goes out to them. I mean, it's so sad that he was so young and he had his whole life ahead of him. So tell the people that you love how much you love them. Faith, Hope and Charity - deep sky astrophotography from White Waltham Airfield Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I was diagnosed with a rare cancer just before Xmas 2021. Since then, so many things have changed but many of those changes are actually very positive !! I’ve always been fascinated by the skies above us and qualified as a pilot from White Waltham many years ago. Obviously I can’t fly anymore so instead, I took up deep sky astrophotography ! Taking deep space pictures is as much a physical challenge as it is technical - so many elements need to come together to take just one picture - and I need to take hundreds over several hours to get the final image. My personal financial contribution to this project is significant and companies like www.firstlightoptics.com have been helpful in advising on the right equipment for the task. To be clear, I have no affiliation nor interest in firstlightoptics - they are just giving me equipment advice. My fundraising objective is to capture the 3 images that (to me anyway) signify faith, hope and charity. Each final image will take several hours of processing and they will be available to download for a donation. I’ll also see if I can print and frame them for larger donations, along with the story of how I did it all. I’ll also record everything and put it on YouTube so you can see what I did for this important fundraising initiative.
