I shared my thoughts on the recent arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for trespassing at an ICE facility, where he and others allegedly broke in. It seems like a desperate move that could end his political career. I also noted the actions of Rep. LaMonica McIver and Rep. Menendez, who reportedly pushed past security to enter the facility. Their behavior raises questions about their motives, especially since they’ve seen the conditions inside. Baraka claims he did nothing wrong, but the evidence suggests otherwise.

The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Protests are ongoing at the privately operated ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey. Democratic Congressman Robert Menendez Jr., son of the disgraced former senator, and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman were taken into custody after allegedly storming the facility. According to a DHS spokesman, the protesters were outside the facility when the gate opened for a van. Some protesters and the two members of Congress then allegedly stormed through the gate. DHS stated that the members of Congress storming into the detention facility is a bizarre political stunt that puts the safety of law enforcement agents and detainees at risk. DHS also stated that members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities, and that they would have facilitated a tour had they been asked.

Speaker 0: Well, the district is different than in 2021. Redistricting has actually made it more favorable For me, more of Northern Hunter and County, which I'm very thrilled about. So that that helps considerably. The other thing is is he has 2 more years of a voting record for me to contrast with what I would do. Just more recently, He had 2 votes. He had 2 opportunities to vote to restore full funding for the school districts that have lost State aid, 2 of them larger towns in the district, his own town of South Brunswick and and Hillsborough Township in in Somerset County. And he, either abstained or stepped out of the room. Unbelievable. He'll tell you that he supported the measure, which is true, that we would restore Two thirds of the funding.
