But even if we define a more 'minor' goal that still marks a territorial price—a very wide security strip in the east (where a strict destruction zone will be enforced), the evacuation of northern Gaza, the selective return of residents, and the setting of an additional territorial price in such and other terrorism scenarios—it makes sense in itself. In any case, Israel is currently in the worst of all worlds. It is enslaved to a distorted world order with different interests than its own. It corresponds with impossible rules of engagement. And creates an incentive system that does not allow for victory. Because if all the residents stay and distorted 'rules of war' are enforced, what exactly is Israel supposed to do? How do you fight under such conditions? And if Israel accepts such a distorted framing, who will even take Israel's demand to evacuate hospitals seriously? If the rules of the game are that there are no demands or responsibilities from the Gazans, and even Egypt is not firmly required to absorb the population— hitting a hospital becomes a kind of lifeline for the Gazans. A card that symbolizes ceasefires, humanitarian aid, and Israeli restraint. And in such a case, why would the Gazans evacuate hospitals? So let's clarify again: logical pragmatism, to a degree. The USA is important to Israel. In armament, in diplomacy, and much more. Everything is clear. And yet, Israel must have red lines. In the current war, loss (or even a draw) is not really an option. An Israeli soldier was killed and another was seriously wounded by a roadside bomb in the West Bank’s Nur Shams refugee camp this morning, the military announces. The slain soldier is named as Sgt. First Class (res.) Yehuda Geto, 22, a combat driver, from Pardes Hanna-Karkur. The two soldiers were inside a Panther armored personnel carrier (APC) when the bomb exploded. Geto was the driver, and the seriously wounded soldier was a commander in the Duvdevan commando unit. According to an initial IDF probe, the vehicle was waiting in an area of Nur Shams where explosive devices were not believed by the army to have been planted. Other Duvdevan troops had disembarked from the APC to carry out an operation on foot. The APC was disabled by the large blast, and later towed out of Nur Shams. The bomb was believed by the IDF to have been improvised, using tens of kilograms of explosive material. Amid the extraction of the two soldiers, the IDF attempted to carry out a drone strike against a group of gunmen in the area, though the missile did not explode, the probe found. Later, several gunmen attempted to tamper with the missile, but it exploded, killing a Palestinian woman who was standing nearby, according to the military probe. Separately, Duvdevan troops shot dead a Palestinian gunman who tried to open fire on the forces, the IDF says. The Palestinian Authority health ministry also reported two dead in Nur Shams, a woman and a child. The incident comes days after a similar attack in the Jenin area, in which a soldier was killed and 16 others were hurt when Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives detonated bombs against army vehicles during a raid.
