Speaker 0: United States Military Industrial Complex just reported record sales for 2023. Never in all of history has the Military Industrial Complex sold so many weapons overseas. We're gonna take this opportunity to talk about why where you get your news matters. Because lately, I've been getting my news from this news site and app called found news where they co collate all the different news from all the different outlets, and they report every story with all the reporting, and they give you biases based on which reporting is left and which reporting is right and which is center, what countries they're based in, what their financial affiliations are, their track record of being factual or ridiculous, and I'm sure their ratings are not perfect, but check this out. This is their home page where you see their different news stories.
In each one, you can see how much reporting is being done on it and by what types of news outlets. But then they have this special feature that we can go to where they have alerts of new reporting. And I noticed this one, US weapon sales have brought it record high. And I noticed, you know, who's reporting on it and they rate each agency as center, left or right, highly factual, not mixed factuality, individual financing, corporate financing, and you can compare the articles from each of these different news outlets to see how they each choose to spin the reporting to fit their biases and their narrative. For example, here's the headline of a slightly more right leaning article, and here's the headline of Politico, a very left leaning article.
Noticed how they directly correlate in your mind that selling lots of weapons overseas helps defeat evil Russia and China. They're also very certain to put it everywhere in the article that this was all started by Russia. It's all because of Russia that this is happening. Whereas you can find far more factual and central sources that just report on the numbers without attaching political spin to it. The left leaning articles all love to make this claim that us selling more weapons abroad is somehow cutting into Russia's weapons trade.
As if Russia was selling weapons to Ukraine and now we're taking away their business. Do these guys know how war works? But the far more Interesting part of getting your news from a site like Ground News is that you can find reporting from all around the world all in the same place, and you can realize things like UK media mum on shocking claims that Boris Johnson sabotaged Russia Ukraine peace talks. This was reported last year in Russian news outlets, splits, which obviously have their own biases. They noted that all UK media outlets preferred to remain muted on claims by senior Ukrainian lawmaker David that former prime minister Johnson was the one who convinced Kyiv in 2022 not to negotiate with Moscow and carry on fighting instead, and that every single British news outlet generates no results on this topic when you search for it.
Notably, the BBC, The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Independent, none of them reported on that. But you can find it in Russian news reporting, and you can also find it in other international news reporting that's not affiliated with the US or the UK. But I'm sure that's all just evil Russian propaganda. Don't listen to any of it. Politico is on point.
More weapons sales is good for democracy. Chrissy. Those military defense contractors, they have always been at the core of a democratic process, and that's why it's such a good thing that
