America has been on a privatization drive going back to when Dick Cheney was defense secretary under George h w Bush. The equation changed a bit when the administration started using companies like Blackwater heavily armed paramilitary types, and they're outsourcing a major part of the combat function of the war. And so Blackwater has sort of emerged as the praetorian guard of the war on terror. A decade ago, this company didn't even exist. I mean, the Bush administration failed to build the coalition of the willing in Iraq, so they built the coalition of the billing. But also, how many contractors have been killed in Iraq? We don't know. We think about 780 of them have been killed, seventy six hundred wounded, but that's a big part of why Bush uses them. Well, first of all, I mean, the average US soldier gets about 28 to $40,000 a year to be cannon fodder over in Iraq. That's the average monthly take of the mercenaries tax free. And it's not just the privatization of the military. Blackwater, for instance, isn't even on Pentagon contract in Iraq. They're working for the State Department to the tune of $750,000,000. 3 quarters of a billion dollars. They're really an armed wing of the administration. Check this out. When you serve in the US Navy SEALs, US taxpayers spend millions of dollars training you to be this elite fighting machine. Water hires these guys up, repackages them to the taxpayer. So it's a bilking of all of us. But also Black Water's founder, Eric Prince, he talks about Black Water as the FedEx of the national security apparatus. He says, if you really want a package to get somewhere, do you send it through the post office or do you send it through FedEx? Well, first of all, I mean, what the mercenaries themselves will say is we only engage in defensive operations, and yet the Iraq war inherently is an offensive aggressive operation, and Blackwater is at the vanguard of it. We're not mercenaries anymore. We're the peace and stability industry. It's a serious problem because these guys have not been subjected to the uniform code of military justice, the court martial system. There's no effective laws governing their presence. And when Brammer skulked out of Iraq in 02/2004, one of the last things he did was issue an edict, order 17, immunizing all contractors from prosecution. So there are 48,000 employees of mercenary companies operating in Iraq. There's no laws that govern them, Iraqi, international, US, or military. So it's like the wild West over there right now. And when they commit crimes that go unprosecuted, unpunished, that has a ricochet effect because Iraqis don't see the difference between mercenaries and actual forces. They see them as all the occupation. And the Democrats are totally on board with privatization. I mean, don't don't don't buy into the illusion that there's some two party system going on in The US right now. I mean, they're all part of the same war party, and Clinton was a radical supporter of privatization. When Cheney was running Halliburton, what president do you think gave him all those big contracts? It was president Clinton. And so, you know, it's a myth that we have some real debate in The US. They all get money from the war contractors except Blackwater only butters one side of the bread. They only give to Republicans, which is very unusual for such a successful company. They get the job done politically too. They they spend a lot of money on campaign. They show up on the scene and I was standing on a street corner on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and and talking to two New York City cops who'd come down to help. A car pulls up, no license plates on it. Three huge guys get out wearing flak jackets, khaki uniforms, m force machine guns. And they say to the cops, where are the rest of the Blackwater guys? The cops say, oh, they're just down the street. There's a bunch of them. So I said, Blackwater, mean like the guys over in Iraq? He said, oh, They're all over the place. So I found them. Start talking to them. What's your mission here? We're here to confront criminals and stop looters. Under whose authority are you here? They sort of went back and forth with each other. One flash is a gold law enforcement badge. He says, I was deputized by the governor of the state of Louisiana. Turns out, the Blackwater guys on the ground told me we're getting $3.50 a day to be down here. I got Blackwater's contracts. They were billing $9.50 a day per man, raking in $240,000 a day at one point, 600 men stretching from Texas through The Gulf. The fact of the matter is that this is a paramilitary operation, totally lawless. And why was Blackwater hired? Because the National Guard was over in Iraq and Afghanistan as cannon fodder. So Bush brings in a mercenary company headed by a guy who bank rolls his campaign. And the fact of the matter is that, I think most Americans would support a defensive operation to defend the country. This is an offensive aggressive war of conquest, and that's why it's necessary to have mercenaries. So if the future of warfare is offensive invasions of other countries, absolutely. We're looking at it right now in Iraq, Afghanistan, New Orleans. When mercenaries come back in caskets, it doesn't make the papers. It barely makes the news. You don't have to put it in the official troop count. And but I what I think is more important is that no one's paying attention to the crimes these guys are committing. You got lower ranking soldiers being prosecuted for Abu Ghraib. There are contractors at Abu Ghraib. They're walking around as free men in The United States right now. We have a company here in Blackwater, that has said that it doesn't want military law to apply to it, and at the same time facing wrong ful death lawsuits has argued, that it can't be sued in civilian court saying that it should be entitled to the same immunity as the US military. So we have a company that is essentially declaring itself above any effective law, and I think that raises serious questions anywhere they go in the world and particularly in this country. He's not under arrest, but it is notable they are at his Maryland home right now. We don't know how many agents are there. We're waiting to get a picture of the scene coming in right now, but we're told ambassador Bolton, was just on TV, on another network a couple days ago talking about the Russia, Putin Trump summit, is now under FBI investigation. Now I wanna be clear. These are long, and we're looking at some live photographs right now in Bethesda. That's clearly the road where ambassador Bolton lives, and you can see some police cars outside there. But, you know, this is gonna be a long process. We saw the raid of former Trump adviser Roger Stone's home down in Florida, several years ago. Eventually, he went to trial. We saw famously in August 2022, exactly three years ago, a little bit more than three years ago, the raid on Mar a Lago that still has the FBI in hot water. That's a little bit of a different situation as it was a former president, but it deals with classified documents. Guys? Speaker 0: So so I did not realize this, but there was a probe going on when president Trump was in office last time because John Bolton wrote a book, and the president he violated his NDA, the president said, in doing it. And they he felt as though there were classified information in that book. The probe dropped when Joe Biden became president. So is this picking up where that left off, David? Speaker 3: It's possible. I don't know with a 100% certainty, but it is notable, guys, that John Bolton, ambassador Bolton's security clearances were stripped earlier this year by president Trump. Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, took that security clearance away. They had concerns. The administration had concerns about ambassador Bolton still being able to access some of these documents and have some of those security clearances. It's also notable that John Bolton had a security detail as well, because of the threats from Iran on his life. That security detail, that government federal paid security detail, was also taken away, by president Trump. So Bolton was to have to get some private security. So we're looking outside his home right now in Bethesda, Maryland. We're told that ambassador Bolton's being cooperative. He's not under arrest, not in custody at this point, but still notable, 07:00 on a Friday morning that the FBI, all of a sudden, is knocking on the door of John Bolton's home. And I also will say it's important that, you know, this is not just the FBI able to do this. A judge has to sign off on this. There are other layers involved here. It's not just the FBI says, let's go to John Bolton's house tomorrow morning and see if he has any classified documents. There are certainly more procedures in there. A judge and others would have had to, sign off on this as well as people at the justice department, presumably attorney general Pam Bondi. No comment right now, though, from the justice department. No comment from the FBI as well. Speaker 2: So this started forty minutes ago. And so agents are still, we believe, in the house right now going through things? Speaker 3: That's what we're told. Yes. Absolutely. They're going through things. It's not clear if he's still on scene, if he's in the house while this is happening. Sometimes that happens. Sometimes, the subject who owns the home or owns the property is not there. We know during the raid at Mar Lago, president Trump was not even there at all. He just it was the summer, and he doesn't live at Mar A Lago in the summer. So it's not clear if ambassador Bolton, was even home. We're working to find that out, but we know that he was just, you know, this is his primary residence. This is where he lives. He does TV appearances. He's still out and about. So it's unclear exactly where he is right now, but I'm just told he's not in custody. This deals with classified records, potential classified records, and, you know, at which point we'll see down the line if a grand jury feels there is enough evidence for charges. But this is really the first step in what could be a long process because they have to bring first of all, you know, agents have to sift through this information, go through all of this information. That could take weeks. That could take months. Then they present that information to a grand jury. A grand jury would say we have what's called a true bill, which means, an indictment, and then the court proceedings happen. So I don't wanna get over my skis and and predict that that's gonna happen. May not happen, but it's still notable that this this is going on right now.

These are not isolated instances of poor judgment. These are calculated schemes designed to exploit Americans struggling with addiction while enriching the very people who were duty bound to help them heal. We charged pill mill operators who prescribed unnecessary opioids. We dismantled networks of corrupt pharmacies that existed solely to distribute drugs to addicts and dealers. Feeding the addiction crisis that has devastated so many American communities. This is not health care. It is a staggering breach of trust. And under my leadership, the criminal division will prosecute these criminals as aggressively as we would any drug dealer because that's exactly what they are.
