And since all the roads were destroyed, ambulances have not been able to navigate them in order to recover the bodies, which are now decomposing.

Speaker 0: Respectively, what surprised me most was, not the anticipated effect of a £2,000 or a £500 American bomb being dropped on a tent city, bombs that were designed for busting bunkers in Afghanistan, but rather how the carnage that was induced really focused on children, health care workers, and journalists. Those that were the most innocent, those that provided care, and those that would report to the world, the accuracy of the carnage were specifically targeted. Speaker 1: When you say specifically targeted, can you go into more detail what you mean by that? Speaker 0: Sure. Absolutely. We found children, many workers found children, not just myself, that had high velocity bullet wounds, sniper bullet wounds, rifle wounds, that were dead center in the chest. I mentioned to other reporters that I couldn't put my stethoscope more dead center over a heart, than the entrance bullet hole was. There was no back to these children. The bullet had removed their entire torso. There was a similar bullet hole in 2 of the children's temples. So they were shot twice. Once was certainly a kill shot. The second one was when they were on the ground. And so no sniper hits a child, and I'm talking toddlers, twice by mistake. And so, and that that finding was, duplicated by many health care workers that children were specifically targeted by high velocity rifle bullet wounds. And then there was a plethora of healthcare workers with horrible stories of being specifically targeted. And Then, of course, journalists, were either, assassinated, not allowed back into the country or had their equipment destroyed. Speaker 1: Let me ask you just about the context of children, being the majority of those who are suffering here. UNICEF calls Gaza the world's most dangerous place to be a child. They make up 90% of those seen in the ER there. Tell us specifically about 9 year old Jewry, who you treated. Speaker 2: Sure. Jurie, yeah, like you mentioned, she's a 9 year old girl. She, along with her family, evacuated from Khan Yunus to Rafa under threat. And, when they got to Rafa, went to her grandparents' house, that home was bombed. Her grandparents were killed, some of her siblings were killed and the rest were previously injured. We found her in the preoperative area actually at European Hospital purely by accident. And, the wounds she had, I don't wanna go into the details on the air maybe. If people wanna see pictures and then read the details, they can read that political article. But Speaker 0: the the wounds she had Speaker 1: showing doctor Sidhua some of the photos that he provided. Speaker 2: The the wounds were just horrific. It's not something that, that anybody can actually fully recover from even if she does manage to survive, and she's thankfully in Egypt now. If even if she does manage to survive, she's gonna be permanently disabled for the rest of her life. And she's just one of thousands and thousands of kids who are who are hurt this way. In it's with the health care system under attack and with the the health care needs of the population so dramatically increased from what the any system really could provide, these children don't have much of a chance.

Speaker 0: When I was in Gaza in February this year, I was working at 2 primary care clinics in Rafa, both of which barely had enough medications and supplies to appropriately treat patients. When we arrived, there were no antibiotics. This means no life and limb saving treatment for patients with bacterial infections. We saw multiple cases of suspected Ricketts disease. This is severe vitamin d deficiency due to malnutrition affecting bone growth. There are patients that could walk before and were no longer walking. There are patients that should have been walking due to their developmental milestones, but were not walking due to severe malnutrition. One of the acutely malnourished children I saw was the sickest child that I've ever seen in my entire medical career and training in the clinic. They were 9 to 10 years old, being carried in by his mother, unable to walk. I could wrap my entire index finger and thumb around their upper arm and lower leg. They had not been eating for 4 days due to nausea and vomiting and were also showing neurological signs of decline. If I had seen this patient in Canada, they would have been immediately admitted to a pediatric hospital for care and refeeding and possibly even to the pediatric intensive care unit for monitoring. However, it broke my heart after speaking to the local doctor that all we could provide would be IV fluid hydration. This is what we were essentially giving every child that appeared malnourished, dehydrated, or ill in the clinic. These necessary conditions for life, food, clean water, shelter, especially for young children, were withheld intentionally to make the conditions in Gaza entirely unimaginably unlivable and unsurvivable for everyone, but acutely impact those that are most vulnerable, newborns, young children, people who are pregnant, older adults, people with chronic diseases and disabilities, and mental health conditions. The first case of polio in 25 years in Gaza, and a 10 month old child now has developed paralysis in the lower extremities. This is irreversible paralysis. This is genocide by weaponizing previously eliminated highly infectious diseases to cause permanent disability and death. I am an eyewitness to genocide in Gaza. Israel is committing genocide. While our leaders remain impotent to act in any meaningful way, we demand an immediate lifting of the blockade of humanitarian aid and immediate two way arms embargo, compliance with the decisions of the International Court of Justice. This must be immediate. The children of Gaza depend on it. Justin Trudeau, Melanie Jolie, your inaction is complicity in genocide. Canadian Medical Association, your silence is manufactured consent for genocide.
