This OIA information I received on Friday is interesting. We know that Bloomfield has confirmed on behalf of the Working Group International Health Regulations ("WGIHR") that they will circumvent Article 55 of the current International Health Regulations, which allows state parties four months to consider any amendments prior to the World Health Assembly in May 2024. The amendments which have been worked on behind closed doors since early 2023 should have been released yesterday, being 27 January 2024. Why has the Ministry of Health, via the Public Health Agency, redacted information about the WGIHR their OIA response? They are claiming that the reason to withhold satisfies section 9(2)(h) of the Official Information Act 1982 as there is legal privilege. Where is the transparency given we fund the Government and our elected representatives are meant to represent us and be accountable? If there is nothing to see, they should release the information. More interesting information to come. @winstonpeters @TanyaUnkovichMP @nzfirst @ShaneJones_MP
