Our phones just lit up. Those who work there, told me that I should speak to this 1 woman.
When she worked at Nygard, her name was Yanda Hundreup. She was told to meet Peter Nygard in Hong Kong. Yana said that she arrived in Hong Kong and, she went to the hotel where, she had been booked a room. In the middle of the night, she woke, to find him in her room and that, he raped her in the hotel room in bed. After talking to Yana and a number of other women who came forward, it was Pretty clear that there was a very lengthy, you know, pattern of conduct.
It had a variety of, of angles to it. You know, where is your human resources department? How is it that, this is so widely known in the company. So as it was, you know, the investigation was proceeding, I was told by, the city editor at the time, that word at the, in the high offices of the free press was that the story wasn't appreciated, and we might not run any more stories. I went in to speak to the publisher, Rudy Redekopf, and said, this is what I'm hearing.
You know, what's happening? And he basically said that, yes, he was thinking that, we would not run any more stories about Peter Nygard. That story was going to be killed. And what he told me at the time was that it was costing the newspaper, 1,000,000 in advertising. Peter Nygaard did not advertise in the newspaper.
And it was others within the business community who were threatening to, to pull advertising if we continued to print these stories. It was, a huge blow to the whole newsroom. I went to the Bahamas to spend the summer after I graduated, from high school in 98, and, after spending a couple of weeks in NASA, my mother's boyfriend, Who who lived in Nassau said, you know, why don't you take some tennis lessons while while you're here for the summer? But why was anyone suspicious of him in the 1st place? More specifically, Why did anyone equate him with something as monstrous as pedophilia?

In turn, I have talked to the creators and controllers of a new app called Rif c I've talked about in the past. They have promised me that they will never remove my content and will not suppress free speech, but that they will still have safeguards in place to make sure that that app does not become a place for hate speech to thrive.
