BREAKING: A man was critically injured after being shot in the head during an altercation at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station in Brooklyn, NY. The incident occurred when a 36-year-old man initiated a conflict and drew a weapon, only for the other individual involved to disarm and use it on him. This event follows the recent deployment of the National Guard and state police by Governor Kathy Hochul to enhance subway security. It appears that it hasn't stopped the issues, and until New York decides to start prosecuting criminals and rewarding good Samaritans, I fear it will only intensify.

Trump Assassination Attempt Local SWAT Team says they had no communication with the Secret Service. They didn't even know if the shooter was down when they were climbing onto the roof. https://t.co/yqlvxYoRTW

Video Transcript AI Summary
Members of the Pennsylvania SWAT team recount their experience during the attempted assassination of former President Trump. They noticed the suspicious behavior of the shooter before the incident but failed to communicate their concerns effectively to the Secret Service. Despite rushing to the scene and encountering the shooter's body, they feel they could have done more to prevent the tragedy. The lack of communication and coordination within the team and with the Secret Service contributed to the catastrophic outcome.

Speaker 0: For the first time, we're hearing from members of the Pennsylvania SWAT team that took up positions to defend the former president. Speaker 1: I remember standing in the parking lot and talking to one of the guys, and so we just became part of history, not in a good way. Speaker 2: The SWAT team from Beaver County, Pennsylvania knew something about the scrawny young man seemed off. He can be seen in this video obtained by ABC affiliate WTAE skulking around former president Trump's rally. Text messages between local snipers show they noticed Thomas Matthew Crooks at 4:26 PM, nearly 2 hours before the attempted assassination that would injure Trump, kill a man, and severely hurt 2 others. You see me go out with my rifle, one of the snipers texted so he knows you guys are up there. By 5:14 PM, they grew suspicious. Speaker 3: He was looking up and down the building and just wandering around. It just seemed out of place. Speaker 2: Greg Nichols snapped these photos of the shooter. Speaker 3: We had a a text group between the local snipers that were on scene. I had sent those pictures out to that group and advised them of what I noticed and what I'd seen. Speaker 4: What do you think is transpiring once you send in what you've sent in? Speaker 3: I assume that there would be somebody coming out to, you know, speak with the this individual or, you know, find out what's going on. So how do Speaker 4: you know if Greg's concerns about crooks are being relayed properly? Speaker 1: We don't. It's we have to assume that when he put that information out to command, that command took that information and did something with it. We don't know if they did. Speaker 2: None of the concerns appears to have reached members of Trump's secret service detail. The Washington Post reports they've complained they were never made aware of the warnings. In their first public comments about the assassination attempt, members of the Beaver County SWAT team described to ABC News what they consider to be failures of planning and communication that would prove catastrophic. Speaker 5: We were supposed to get a face to face briefing with the Secret Service snipers, whenever they arrived, and that never happened. So I think that that was probably a pivotal point where I started thinking things were wrong because that never happened, and we had no communication with the Secret Service. Speaker 4: You had no communication with the Secret Service at all on that Saturday? Speaker 5: No. Not until after the shooting, I believe. Speaker 4: Yeah. And by then? It was too late. Speaker 2: Members of the Beaver County SWAT team rushed to the shooter's rooftop Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 2: As seen in footage from Rich Gianvito's helmet camera. Speaker 3: Hi, Carl. Yep. Speaker 5: So we've accessed through that ladder, got up onto the roof. Speaker 4: And as you're scrambling onto that roof, you don't know for sure whether he's dead or alive or whether you'll encounter fire. Speaker 5: At that point, no. Give me a solid perimeter. Get guys prepped to clear the building. Speaker 2: He encountered the shooter's bloodied body some 400 feet from the stage. Speaker 1: We're clear. We're clear. Clear. Clear. Speaker 2: The team believes it did everything it could have to thwart the attack, but accepts its share of failure. Speaker 1: I think we all failed that day. Speaker 4: How so? Speaker 3: Life is lost. Yeah. People died. Speaker 1: And if there's anything that we could have done to stop that, we should could've we should've done. That is tremendous to hear that that team tried to go up the train of command but heard nothing. What stood out to you, Aaron, when you visited the SWAT team headquarters? Speaker 4: Well, I think hearing that the lack of communication almost doomed the event from from the start.

Speaker 1: My foot's completely shattered. Like like, it's they have screws and plates, immediate surgery, and then I got hit in the back right here as well. Speaker 0: That's Benjamin's girlfriend in the bed and in shot. Speaker 1: I know she got shot in the back and it, like, traveled up, and I know it, like, hit her kidney. And, I think it's, like, lodged in her chest right now. Like, they can't get the bullet out because it's too dangerous. So I know they're watching her. I know it's gonna be, like, a couple more days. Speaker 0: Benjamin says he and a buddy just got back from the Bahamas and were looking for a quiet relaxing night when 2 suspects appeared on security video breaking in through a kitchen window and milling around the house. His friend was held down at gunpoint in the living room. Y'all. Speaker 1: And I woke up, and I was just quick enough to react and grab my gun and cock it. And I just sat there and kinda waited. I knew they were gonna come to my room. Speaker 0: As soon as that gunman came in, mayhem ensued. An outside camera caught the injured suspect struggling to leave the house. Police arrested the suspected shooter identified by investigators as Phillip Price, now facing assault intent to murder, armed robbery, and other charges as part of a 21 count indictment. Speaker 2: We believe they do they did know each other and, at some point, Price knew, there were objects in the house he was going for. Speaker 1: The bag that they tried to get was right there, and they there was a bottle of Don Julio in it and a and a chocolate bar, and then there was a a studio microphone that I have. Like, these guys did this for nothing. Yeah. I'm just happy everybody is, you know, alive and well. I mean, I really didn't. I'm kinda glad the guy who shot me is still alive too. I don't wanna kill nobody.

Speaker 0: This surveillance video clearly shows what happened outside Yale Discount Tobacco convenience store on Yale Road March Seventh. Watch the group of teens walk up and approach a red car. Another teen walks to the store and tries to get inside. The doors are locked. Then someone in a black car across the parking lot pulls out a gun and starts firing. The other young people retreat behind the red car and then pull out weapons of their own, and the gunfight begins. Bullets flying across the parking lot and down the street as the group of young men fire and then run away. In a media statement, police say the same group had entered the store minutes earlier armed with handguns and threatened to assault a person after asking for that person's shoes. They left and came back a second time when this parking lot gun battle broke out. The owner of this convenience store says he's seen the kids before. They live in the area and actually come in the store all the time with guns. It's why he put up this sign saying no guns allowed. But he says the sign clearly didn't stop the young men from brandishing their weapons. And take a look. He says one of them was a young boy who appears to be about 10. As far as we know, no one seems to have been hit in the melee. Police say they also have made no arrest.
