With that statistic in mind, the researchers set forth with the goal of mapping every abortion facility and Planned Parenthood center in the nation against population and racial demographic data sorted by zip code. They wanted to determine not only whether abortion centers were located in zip codes with high black and Hispanic populations but whether the black and Hispanic populations in the zip codes where abortion businesses were located exceeded the total percentage of the population of the particular state as a whole in terms of its minority population. “We began by creating a database of the ZIP codes for every Planned Parenthood facility in the United States. This list was generated from Planned Parenthood’s website. We then used United States Census Bureau figures to establish the percentage of black and Hispanic people residing within each of these ZIP codes as well as within each state,” they write. “In reviewing this data, there are several things to keep in mind. The first is that the issue is not whether a ZIP code is predominately black or Hispanic but whether it is disproportionately black or Hispanic.” The results were startling. In Texas alone, 94 zip codes show either an abortion facility or a Planned parenthood abortion-referral clinic located there and 72 percent of the zip codes have populations that are disproportionately black and/or Hispanic. The report also found multiple abortion centers in many super-minority populated areas. The New Jersey zip code 07631 has a black population 286.7% of the state’s overall percentage and a Hispanic population 163.9% of the state, they noted, and it has four abortion or abortion-referral centers. Minnesota zip code 55404 has a black population that is 797.1% of the overall state percentage and a Hispanic population 537.9% of the state and there are three abortion or abortion-referral clinics [sic] there. They chose the latter. Virtually overnight, they went from claiming that they target minority communities with noble intentions to claiming that they don’t target them at all. Then, to support this revised strategy, they began quoting a new report by the Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) showing that only one in 10 Planned Parenthood clinics is located in a minority community. The LDI study blows Guttmacher’s contention to bits. LDI developed databases of all Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities in the country, their zip codes, and each zip code’s minority (black and/or Hispanic) component. Here is some of what it found: The numbers are staggering. As just one example, consider Texas which has 94 Zip codes with at least one population control facility. Speaker 0: Just because I was watching the 1st Republican debate, I sent out a tweet that seemed to really strike a nerve in the right wing. Here it is. No one supports abortion up until birth. I wrote that because there is a pervasive and misleading talking point that is used by a number of right wing leaders including Presidential candidates on the stage suggesting that Democrats are advocating for and even rooting for late term abortions of babies who could live outside the womb. Just take a listen to some of the answers in the debate on Wednesday night. Speaker 1: We're better than what the Democrats Sir Seling, we are not gonna allow abortion all the way up till birth, and we will hold them accountable for their extremism. Speaker 2: We cannot let states like California, New York and Illinois have abortions on demand up until the day of birth. Speaker 3: I would love is For someone to ask Biden and Kamala Harris, are they for 38 weeks? Are they for 39 weeks? Are they for 40 weeks? Speaker 0: This wasn't just some throwaway line for applause on the debate Sage. This is a talking point Republican presidential candidates use repeatedly on the trail. The platform formerly known as Twitter doesn't exactly leave the space and the room to really lay down the facts. I do love facts, but I want to make sure that all of you are equipped with them. This claim that Democrats support abortion up until the moment of birth is entirely misleading. First of all, abortions Past the point of fetal viability do not happen often. They are incredibly rare and those that do happen involve agonizing emotional and ethical decisions. According to the CDC, the vast majority of abortions in the United States, over 80% in 2020, happened before 10 weeks of pregnancy and over 90% take place in the 1st 12 weeks, less than 1%, 1% happened after 21 weeks of pregnancy. If you look state by state, you see a similar pattern. As compiled by the Washington Post in Virginia Since 2000, an abortion after 28 weeks has been performed only in 3 of the last 22 years. In Oklahoma in 2021, only 6 out of nearly 6,000 abortions took place after 21 weeks. And in Colorado, where the Boulder Abortion Clinic specializes in late term abortions. Less than 2% of nearly 12,000 abortions in 2021 took place after 21 weeks and just 60 took place after 25 weeks or later. So, again, this does not happen often and when it does, You can see how painful this really is through personal stories. Director of that Boulder Clinic told the Washington Post that in his experience, Virtually all women seeking a late term abortion are devastated by the prospect. He said, quote, In an average week at my office, 25 to 50% of the patients have some serious catastrophic fetal abnormality and there are some weeks in which this is true for 100% of the patients. These are uniformly desired pregnancies and the patients are generally grief stricken to be ending the pregnancy. Mothers have described in heart wrenching detail having to make the decision to end their pregnancy to save their own life or because they were told the baby that they were so excited for would not survive or would suffer. Are most Democrats in favor of legislation that allows for this? Yes, for all the reasons I just outlined. At the end of the day, the point here is that no one is rooting for late term abortions. No one is running on the platform of aborting viable babies. No one is selling late term abortions as Ron DeSantis claims, no one, not Joe Biden, not Kamala Harris, not Hillary Clinton, not Nancy Pelosi or any other politician demonized by the Right Wing roots for more late term abortions, none of them do. What is happening here is an attempt by Republican presidential candidates and other leaders who know their views on women's health care are out of touch with the public. They're trying to change the parameters of the debate. They're doing that by inaccurately describing the positions of leaders on the other side. As you just heard, as I just outlined, abortions in later stages of pregnancy are extremely rare and they're almost Always the result of a devastating choice to save the life of the mother or because a baby that a couple desperately wanted cannot survive outside the womb. It is not a preference. It is a personal tragedy for these couples. Are Rhonda Santos and Tim Scott in favor of a mother dying as a result of her pregnancy? If a doctor determines a baby cannot survive outside of the womb, should a mother be required to carry that baby to term? And those choices should not be made by any politician or any legislature. They should be made by the woman carrying the baby and by her doctor. That is what Democrats are trying to protect. That is what they are for. This is not politics. This is health care.

The pro-life movement has spoken clearly about what their priorities are, and what they do not consider consistent with a pro-life ethic. We're not talking about the pro-aborts who love abortion and who try to twist the term "pro-life" into any and all causes other than stopping the murder of the preborn. We are talking about the lobbyists and organizations themselves that do represent millions of pro-lifers. Their lobbyists have gone to work executing their objectives, working against every abolition bill in every state they have been proposed. In 2022, when Louisiana was seriously considering passing a bill to abolition abortion entirely and had gotten the first floor vote in the nation, all of the major pro-life lobbying organizations sprang into action to kill that bill. They stated unequivocally, "As national and state pro-life organizations, representing tens of millions of pro-life men, women, and children across the country, let us be clear: We state unequivocally that we do not support any measure seeking to criminalize or punish women and we stand firmly opposed to include such penalties in legislation." They have been, and are, abundantly clear on this point. The problem is, without penalties for the mothers who abort their babies, the only necessary party to abortion can continue to abort with immunity and impunity. In other words, there is no such thing as illegal abortion as long as the primary actor in an abortion is free to do it without penalty. She can order pills in the mail, self-induced abortion through herbal remedies, binge drink until her child dies, or any number of other methods to murder a child. There is no shortage of ways to kill a born child, and similarly, there is no shortage of ways to kill a preborn child. Without criminal penalties, abortion will continue to increase. In fact, the pro-life movement has not been effective at bringing down abortion numbers. There are good reasons to believe they have increased abortion numbers in falsely so-called "ban" states. Essentially what they did was transform Blockbuster video to Netflix. In a state without clinics, a woman can order abortion pills online for free and have it shipped to her door. Abortion now is more anonymous, more affordable, and more accessible. This was not the case before Dobbs when the mail order trade was essentially non-existent. In order to better understand this point, imagine this scenario: A woman lives in the panhandle of Oklahoma. The nearest abortion mill is 4 1/2 hours away. She is a religious woman who goes to church on Sundays and would normally not consider abortion if for reasons of social pressure alone. Before the "ban" came into effect, she wouldn't dream of going to the abortion mill in town. She knows people who are staunchly anti-abortion, and if they saw her going into an abortion mill her reputation would be ruined. Now that Oklahoma has "banned" these clinics, she searches for abortion and realizes that she can have pills shipped to her door, for free. No 9 hour round trip journey in the car, no fear of seeing anyone or answering awkward questions about where she went over the weekend, no cost to her. She can do this anonymously, affordably, and it is more accessible to her than ever. She is a woman who aborts her baby who wouldn't have otherwise. She does this without fear, because her state lawmakers have specifically exempted her from any punishment. This is the problem with the pro-life movement. In practice, they are no different than pro-choicers in their treatment of murder. Understand that when you fight abortion under the pro-life banner, you lend influence to the existing pro-life infrastructure. They are happy to use their good name to do evil. They will say they represent you when they do it. They will credibly cite their influence over politics and the approval of their people, and they will prop up their credibility with lies about the current state of abortion in America. They hold all the cards under this banner. They run the March for Life and boast of hundreds of thousands of participants. They have the approval of the Catholic Church and the ERLC who represent millions of Southern Baptist. When we say we are not pro-life, we are not just playing word games. We are not represented by these anti-justice views. If that is true of you, you should not bolster pro-life credibility by using their label that the higher ups define as anti-justice. That is in part why we are abolitionists and not pro-lifers, and that is why we will continue to criticize the pro-life movement. They are our main opposition in state legislatures, and until they lose influence in these states, abortion will continue to be regulated as healthcare instead of abolished as murder.

And I think that that school really probably forms consciousness for a lot of people when they're there to just study how to help people. And, of course, that makes sense. And I think that it was at the other university that we went to that I was really surprised by how seamlessly they switched from a Cuban cultural dance to singing communist songs. Right?
