Fulton County's new district attorney asked to be removed from the case, and a judge is now allowing that. The officer, Garrett Rolfe, shot and killed Rayshard Brooks while trying to arrest him in a Wendy's parking lot on University Avenue.

Is in the hands of the Georgia attorney general. He's been ordered to step in and appoint a new prosecutor, someone from outside the Fulton County District them. Office to take this case to trial. We've seen the images repeatedly now. Miss Brooks?
Them. Hey. I'm Oscar Rolfe with the Atlanta Police Department. How you doing? Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe introducing himself to Rayshard Brooks.
It was June 12th the 2020. Brooks suspected of DUI. Rolfe about to handcuff Brooks. Suddenly, it all burst them. Another tragic confrontation between white officer and black suspect that in just a few seconds ended with Rolfe shooting Brooks to death.
That. Was it a case of murder or self defense? Nearly a year later, no trial yet. Them. Instead, Fulton County Superior Court chief judge Christopher Brasher has granted the DA's wish to be disqualified from the case.
That. The DA, Fonni Willis, said her office cannot be involved because her predecessor, Paul Howard the first charge is felony murder. Botched the case initially last summer them. Which Howard has denied. So judge Brasher removed the Fulton County DA's office, and now a new prosecutor from them.
Side of Fulton County will be appointed and will start on it from scratch. And it hurt. It hurt really bad. The attorneys for Brooks' family Say they hope the new prosecutor will be appointed soon. The family of Rayshard Brooks has been through so much during this process.
That. The numerous stops and starts have been gut wrenching and have made it even more difficult for this grieving family to find peace. That. The attorneys for Rolfe say they're glad the Fulton County DA's office is off the case. We welcome this order.
We continue to maintain that that. Daroff's use of deadly force was legally justified, and we look forward to his complete exoneration. The state attorney general has not said yet when he will appoint the new prosecutor. As for the 2nd officer accused in this case, Devin Brosnan, them. He was not part of today's order from the judge.
So apparently, as of now, the Fulton County DA's office is still responsible for prosecuting Brosnan them. On charges that include aggravated assault.

It's made its way all the way to the commander in chief, with a big smile on his face.
Speaker 6: Yes. Well, look, I I you know, I think we know who the driving force behind this smear has been all along, and it's been, the president and the Kremlin. The Kremlin has an obvious interest, in denigrating Joe Biden. They want Donald Trump to win. They recognize he's a weak president.
He's been unerily unwilling to stand up to Putin and other autocrats. He has diminished NATO. He has criticized and weakened our alliance, with our transatlantic partners. He's been the gift that doesn't stop giving for the Kremlin. So, clearly, they wanna help him.
So they wanna denigrate the vice president. The intelligence community has made that abundantly clear. And this this particular smear though, has also been acknowledged to come from the Kremlin. And there it is in the Oval Office, another wonderful propaganda coup for Vladimir Putin seeing the president of the United States holding up a newspaper promoting Kremlin propaganda. It's really incredible.
Speaker 11: The Washington Post, as you saw, is reporting that, when the president was actually warned of concerns about Giuliani and where he was getting all this information, warned by US intelligence, law enforcement authorities. The president simply shrugged his shoulders and responded, that's Rudy. How much is that part of of the problem here that the president, at least according to this reporting in The Washington Post, doesn't seem to care?
Speaker 6: Well, it's a big part of the problem and, and, you know, we've known for a long time look, Rudy Giuliani, doesn't, you know, run the president. The president runs Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani is doing the president's bidding. He was doing the president's bidding late last year and earlier this year. In Ukraine.
He was doing the president's bidding when he was meeting with an agent of the Kremlin. He was doing the president's bidding when he was pushing out this smear and trying to get the Ukrainians, to push out the smear of his opponent because he was definitely afraid of being exactly where we are right now, which is less than 3 weeks from the election, losing badly to Joe Biden. But, the fact that he would continue to do it, I guess at this point shouldn't surprise us. But, this is the story of Donald Trump. Utter unwillingness to stand up to the Kremlin, a willingness to use their help no matter how dishonest and disreputable, a willingness to undermine our own elections by getting Kremlin help and amplifying it.
And there's only one remedy at this point, and that's to vote him
Speaker 11: out. Have you, as a member of the gang of 8, the top leadership in the, the congress, the senate, and the house, and members of the intelligence committee. Have you been formally briefed on what the Russians are up to right now in trying to, pedal this kind of information?
Speaker 6: Well, I was, in the intelligence committee today to see what the latest was. And frankly, we haven't gotten much, from the intelligence community, very recently, which concerns me. They have, at times, some of the leadership like the, director Ratcliffe, not been very forthcoming, in terms of the intelligence on the Russian threat and been promoting this false equivalence with other countries. So, you know, I wish I could, tell you more, Wolf. I wish the intelligence community was at liberty to tell the public more.
But we do know this. The Russians are once again actively involved in trying to denigrate denigrate the vice president. Donald Trump is helping them. And, and we know that they are amplifying the president's misinformation about absentee ballots. This is another gift the president is giving the Russians.
Unlike 2016 when the Russians had to make up this stuff, they now can simply use the president's own false statements and amplify them. It is extraordinary, Wolf, that a president of the United States is telling his own citizens and the rest of the world that America can't hold a free and fair election. The Kremlin just has to push out that false narrative by the president of the United States.

Speaker 1: But it's just, it's remarkable.
Speaker 0: If 3 years in that 6 foot by 8 foot prison cell, you know, in the higher prison where they were squeezing me, you know, with the gangbangers, murderers, bank robbers, pedophiles, transgender people who were half woman, half man, funded by you, the taxpayer. Mermaids. And you can't call them a woman, or they'll throw you in the shoes. Solitary confinement. They take away your good time.
So I know what it's like to live in a society that's imposing what you can't even say, you know, having been there for that time. But, no, you know what? It was
Speaker 1: Well, that's that's such a smart point. I mean, they're basically trying to turn the country into an open air prison where they control your behavior, your language, your thought.
Speaker 0: Yeah. Well said. Faith, hope, and love is what got me home. Faith, hope, and love. You know?
And, you know, you get those moments when you're you find yourself in deep despair, and you feel like there's no chance. The system is so rigged. You can't get justice. You can't even get mercy because you fought back. No one even said it took a penny.
It was all politics. Request for campaign contributions, no quid pro quo. We knew where the lines were. Tried me twice. And, then you put your faith in the appellate court, and then they, you know, they can't uphold this the so called sale of the senate seat because if they allow that standard, government shuts down because that's all horse trading, and that's what they called it, and they were right.
So they eventually re reversed that, but I'm known for this. The other ones were 3 fundraising requests made by 3rd parties, not even by me, and they knew not to make any promises or threats. And, they criminalized it by using a standard that the Supreme Court said wasn't the law, and it was whitewashed by the, the appellate court to protect them. And, you know, you get those moments. But then you say to yourself, you you know, it ain't about you anymore.
It's about your daughters. They were little girls when I left home. And your wife, you gotta be strong for them. And as long as you have purpose in life, you can survive anything. And Viktor Frankl wrote that book, Man's Search for Meaning, Holocaust Survivor.
I mean, 1000000 times worse than anything we went through. But his point was the last of the human freedoms is our freedom to choose our own attitude in any given set of circumstances. It was very helpful. And I gotta tell you, and this is not baloney. Am I right now?
Yeah. Yeah. The Bible. I mean, I was so alone in the beginning, and I reached for that Bible in a way I never did before. I I wasn't gonna bother with Genesis or Leviticus or Deuteronomy to get caught up in who's begetting who because that would always slow me down when I try to read it in the real world.
I went right to the right right to the Psalms and got inspiration, and then I moved on. I went to Isaiah and Jeremiah, then I went to the gospels. Paul, of course, and well, all of them.
Speaker 1: And Speaking of prison terms.
Speaker 0: Exactly. Rome.
Speaker 1: Yeah. Paul did a lot of time.
Speaker 0: He sure did. And it just gave me strength, and it it drew me closer to God. I'm not running for anything. So I'm not below you know, giving any BS to your listeners. It was just real.
And in some respects, I'm not saying it was good, but I'd have moments over the years where I would actually feel, you know, some sort of real unique connection to God. And it was somewhat like what Solzhenitsyn had written when he was in Siberia, and he had talked about he he had said something like thank you prison for what you did for me because but for what you did, I would not feel as close to God as I do now.
Speaker 1: Boy, that's just such a remarkable perspective, such a non American perspective. Thank you for prison?
Speaker 0: Yeah. That's what he said. Yeah. That's what he wrote. I'm not quite going that far.
Speaker 1: No. But I think what you're saying is that suffering turned you into a different man, a better man.
Speaker 0: Yeah. I think it yes. And I think, a greater appreciation for the things that really matter most in life, you know, like the people in your life that you love and the appreciation for the simple things that maybe you were, you know, a little bit less aware of because you were so busy in the race of life to get ahead. Right?
Speaker 1: No iPhone must have been nice.
Speaker 0: There was no iPhone in the world at that time when I left home. When I got home 8 years later, what is this thing? Right?
Speaker 1: Wow.
Speaker 0: The world changes. And that's another thing. It's humbling. Is it okay if I keep talking like this?
Speaker 1: Hope you will.
Speaker 0: Yeah. It's like, you ain't so good. You ain't so great, man. It ain't like the world waits for you. It just keeps spinning around, man.
That that is the truth.
Speaker 1: In the end, all graves go and visited. I should see on everybody's refrigerator. Wow. Your party changed
Speaker 0: very much
Speaker 1: on too. How what did you notice when you get back?
Speaker 0: Well, I noticed, this whole new thing called wokeness and cancel culture, which I wasn't aware of before I left. I noticed, the intolerance of the far left of the Democrat party. I noticed that my daughters, my little girls, grew up and became vegans. Not that they're, you know, far left, but that was weird.
Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I think that's it. I mean, there's nothing you know, I'm not against, you know, whatever. Eat whatever you want or whatever you you know, don't eat what you don't wanna eat. On the other hand, that's that's, like, the fear of every father that your girls are gonna become vegans because it feels like it represents something else.
Speaker 0: But it has nothing to do with diet. It's that they, you know, they feel like it's wrong to, you know, eat meat to Yeah. You know, kill an animal. And it's a very sweet kind thing on their point of view.
Speaker 1: Oh, it is. Oh, I agree.
Speaker 0: And then, you know, I came home to a, you know, working class neighborhood in Chicago. I mean, we live in a nice little neighborhood, but, where the local Democrat party began to term socialist. And, you know, the local city council people, we call them aldermen in Chicago. I think in 2,019, my sister-in-law was the aldermen in our ward. She had inherited that seat from her father, been there for a long, long time.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 0: And she got beat by a socialist, lost by 12 votes by a socialist. That was, like, shocking to me. And then some of the other long standing members of the city council were defeated by socialists. And so suddenly, that was this new, realization that the Democrat Party at the grassroots level was radicalized.
Speaker 1: Were they good at governing the socialists?
Speaker 0: They're terrible at governing, and now we're gonna get a major property tax increase in Chicago. The mayor Brandon Johnson just announced that. And as I read that, this morning, I was thinking driving here. Jeez. I wonder if we're gonna we have any risk of getting carjacked up here in Bethel, Maine.
Right? Because in Chicago, you gotta think about those things.
Speaker 1: It's just funny. I mean, it's you know, people have all these ideologies, and I'm a this or I'm a that, I believe. Yeah. Here's my my worldview. But I don't know.
On some level, it's kind of about, do you make the town, the state, the country better to live in or not? And you're saying that the people who took over Chicago did not improve life.
Speaker 0: No. They've made it more unsafe. They're unwilling to have any kind of open minded discussion about the fact that the schools have been failing for generations, and most of the kids that are suffering are the black kids.
Speaker 1: Yeah. For sure.
Speaker 0: They talked a big game about being the side of the black people, but they won't even give a black mother a choice or a chance to maybe try another school because the public schools are so locked in to what the teachers' unions want. And I'm not here to say that I wasn't exactly, you know, part of that Democrat party and the unions and the teachers' unions.
Speaker 1: Part of it. That's why it's so interesting. Yeah. Well, yeah, you're a product
Speaker 0: of it.
Speaker 1: You're the governor of the state. Right? And you came out of that world.
Speaker 0: I did.
Speaker 1: So well, that's why it's worth asking about this because you've seen you've seen the whole scope of it
Speaker 0: That's right.
Speaker 1: From the daily years to present. That's right.
Speaker 0: And, you know, the Democrat party that I was in, the party of the second mayor Daley, the party of the first mayor Daley, practical. You know? Practical governance. Just make people's lives better. You had
Speaker 1: the best snowplowing in the United States. That's it.
Speaker 0: That's it.
Speaker 1: Snowed, Chicago got plowed before the suburbs. It was I saw it. It was amazing.
Speaker 0: Yes. That's right. And, not too stuck on ideology, but there were certain values that were fundamental to traditional Democrats. What were they? Love of country or faith, family, love of country.
And, this Democrat party is none of those 3. And there is an assault on faith in America by these Democrats, by the more radical Democrats, and it's something that has grown over the last couple of decades, something I saw when I was a Democratic member of congress. I hope I don't turn your listeners off, but I supported Pelosi to be the Democrat leader when I was there. I saw even the beginnings of that when they were trying to take God out of the, you know, the the in God, we trust her.
Speaker 1: Well, she's a Catholic girl from Baltimore, son of the mayor. Yeah. She was very I mean, she was the son of Baltimore's mayor Daley, like, an old school machine Democrat.
Speaker 0: Right. That's right. But But she changed? Because she's a practical politician, and so she's gravitated towards that energy in the Democrat party today, which is that far lead far less socialist Democrat party that wants to rechange America. And you say this, and I'll repeat what you say, and that is to force us and make us to try to believe things we know that are just not true.
Yes. Right? And that's this dictatorial Democrat party.
Speaker 1: But you saw a hostility to Christianity when you were there Yeah. I did. Growing? Yeah.
Speaker 0: In the late nineties. I did. You know, it'd be once in a while, there'd be res congressional resolutions to take God out of the the chamber, the house chamber, and then there was the judge in Alabama, Roy Moore. Yeah. I'm proud to say that back in the late nineties as a Democrat congressman from the city of Chicago, I supported that judge.
Why can't he put the Ten Commandments up there in his courthouse? What's wrong with the Ten Commandments? That's the foundation of our laws. It's the foundation of our values. So I
Speaker 1: suppose literally true. It is the foundation of law.
Speaker 0: Is. Yeah. Yeah. So So why are
Speaker 1: people so hysterical about judge Roy Moore? I mean, they they destroyed judge Roy Moore
Speaker 0: Yeah.
Speaker 1: I know. As a person.
Speaker 0: I saw that from afar. Yeah. The deep, dark valley, I watched all that. Because there's a, you know, there's an element in America, and it's found a home in the Democrat party that's all about science and absolutely nothing about religion. I think that part of the coalition is the Democrat Party.
And I've been supportive of l of LGBTQ issues, but I think they feel threatened by Judeo Christian values. And so they've become, in many respects, antagonistic to those traditional values. And these are some of the practical considerations that are part of why a lot of these Democrats have left the traditional Democrat, you know, working person's view of God and have become more apt to embrace science. And, you know, I I wanted the I'm not saying there's any advantages to be in prison for a long time. Yeah.
But when you got all that time and you gotta kill it, you either try to use it constructively or it'll kill you. Yes. And it's a good place to catch up on your reading. Yeah. And I I used to read a lot of the sermons from Martin Luther King.
And and one of his sermons was really powerful, and he talked about what science can do the good things, but it's god it's god that provides the conscience to god's sign to to guide science.
Speaker 1: Yes.
Speaker 0: And, you know, science creates the medicines that cure people, which is great, also created the nuclear weapons that can destroy the world. What is it that's gonna guide that? Are we gonna trust in people? I know how people can be. I know how wicked they can be.
The best and brightest can be corrupt because I know what they did to me and to my family. It was shocking to me that US attorneys could be so dishonest and corrupt and that the judge would be in on it. Just go along with it. And so my faith's not in people.
Speaker 1: So you were shocked. I mean, obviously, your distress had happened to you, but you were shocked that it happens?
Speaker 0: Yes. I thought they were the good I was a Cook County prosecutor when I started out in a in a low level. Yeah. Daley, the 2nd mayor Daley at the time was the elected Cook County state's attorney, and he was my boss. So he's way up high, and I'm a traffic court.
Right? Just starting out. There were 800 of us, assistants, big, you know, big office. I ended up in the misdemeanor branch courts, and then I went into private practice. So I never met him when I worked for him.
It was only till I became an elected official. And then in 10 short years, I became the governor. He was the mayor. He still thought I worked for him, by the way. Going back.
Yeah. But
Speaker 1: That's a fraught relationship always between Chicago mayor and Illinois governor anyway, isn't it?
Speaker 0: Yeah. I think so. But I I I think that he's practical, and, you know, these Democrats, you know, have programs and stuff that they wanna pay for. And, you know, bloated budgets are not a priority. And even the old school Democrats, that's not a priority.
It's, you know, jobs and Yeah. You know, opportunities for people who've helped and that kind of thing. But the point I wanted to make about DAILI was when I worked in that state's attorney's office, you know, I I learned a lot about how, you know, prosecutors operated, and they were alright, mostly good. But I imagine that the federal US attorneys who went to the better schools, you know, I could never have a chance to be one of them. Right?
Grades, I was a gentleman c scholar in law school, that these people had to be really smart, really bright, and they had to be super honest compared to the local Democratic prosecutors Yeah. Many of whom, you know, had some political, backing to get their jobs. And I discovered they are in in my case anyway, and I don't wanna speak generally about everybody, but they are so corrupt. You can't get a fair trial.
Speaker 1: If they're Andrew Weisman, you know, it's at the very top. He was a truly evil man. Evil. And, you know, Weissman, I'm sure, is a was smart, clever anyway, and certainly well credentialed and has almost unchecked power. I mean, it's crazy that that exists.
Speaker 0: So he destroyed Arthur Andersen with fake law. That's what they did to me. Fake law. They just make it up. They just move lines to get the convictions.
Supreme court took the case, and Weismann's standard that used to destroy Arthur Andersen and cost all those people jobs, 9 to nothing, the supreme court ruled. He was wrong. That wasn't the law.
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
Speaker 0: Yeah. So he destroyed the and what does he get for that? He gets rewarded by being some big commentator on CNN, and people listen to this guy like he's he like, he's honest.
Speaker 1: It's disgusting. It is disgusting. So what not to get sidetracked. Sure.
Speaker 0: What are
Speaker 1: the what is the daily fame? I think Rich Daily is still alive. Right?
Speaker 0: Yes. Yes. What
Speaker 1: do they think of the modern Democratic party, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden? Like, what do they think of that?
Speaker 0: So Bill Daley
Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Of course.
Speaker 0: Ran for mayor of Chicago while I was in prison. Yeah. And shockingly, got his ass kicked in the new Chicago, and that's when Lori Lightfoot was elected Yeah. The new kind of mayor in Chicago. Right?
She's a big failure, and she got defeated soundly. But the fact that the Daily could lose in Chicago was another reminder that, boy, times have changed.
Speaker 1: Different population in Chicago.
Speaker 0: Very different demographic now. The the city that used to be, you know, diverse racially, you know, very strong, still, you know, black population. Yep. Still in the poor, bad, rough neighborhoods. A big Latino population, but it was a city of white working class, white ethnics.
Speaker 1: Yeah. Central, Eastern European peoples.
Speaker 0: That's right. Large Polish population.
Speaker 1: Slavs.
Speaker 0: That's right. That element is gone now. You know, they've 2, 3 generations, they've worked hard to build better lives for themselves. They're taking advantage like our friend Philip over here Yeah. Working hard to make the American dream.
They've moved upward out of the city and into, you know, more affluent suburbs.
Speaker 1: But they were the basis of the city.
Speaker 0: They sure were. And they've been replaced by these young, you know, young new generation, not very politically aware, you know, probably driven by the social issues more than anything else, you know, the woman's right to choose, those kinds of issues.
Speaker 1: Right. So they've been replaced by affluent white inherited money kids That's right. And illegal aliens.
Speaker 0: Generally speaking, that's exactly right.
Speaker 1: Right. So that's that's always the model. It's rich white women and illegal aliens working in tandem to destroy civilization. It is. In cities across the country, that is the model.
The unhappiest people and the most you know, the the people with the least power who just can be used as cannon fodder for the program of the unhappiest people. So, but do you know what the dailies think of this? Like, watching their city become a joke?
Speaker 0: Well, look. Yeah. I know that I I know Rich Daley better than Bill Daley. I knew I know them both. And then there's John Daley, the younger one, and the father.
I mean, this is not their Democratic party. No. And, the mayor Daley, who's in his early eighties now, he hosts a Christmas party every year, and I get invited. I get to see him. And he's had a couple of strokes, and then he hosts the Saint Patrick's Day party as you can imagine.
Does. I think he's quietly gonna vote for Trump. Oh, I'm sure. Yeah. And I Bill Daley maybe not because he's sort of you know, he was more like Bill Daley didn't win elected office.
He was more of an appointed guy. You know? Yeah.
Speaker 1: He worked for Bill Clinton.
Speaker 0: That's right. That's right. And, well, I don't want it to meet him, but he doesn't have the same kind of testicular virility you gotta have to be in the arena and be good at it. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1: As the current mayor is proving.
Speaker 0: Yeah. No. That's right.

What it I mean, I think most people thought Obama was, like, a sign that America was getting healthier healing

Speaker 1: From, you know, past trauma Mhmm. And all that. He was a sign of hope, and then it just got super evil. But when did you realize that Obama was not what he seemed to be, and what role did he play in the disaster in your life?
Speaker 0: He started the whole thing. You know, my story to the book that I'm writing is a story that started with him on election night in 2008. It was magical. You know? 1st black person, half black.
And Yeah. You know, mom from Kansas, dad from Kenya, elected president. I've known him since 1995. We both came up together in politics, had good relationships. I was introduced to him by a guy by the name of Tony Resco.
I think that name is familiar to you. It was not merely what the guys who've been portrayed. I mean, businessman, very practical, extremely generous to Obama and good to Obama, helpful to both of us raising money and things like that. And when I was elected governor, he would come to me with requests from Obama, and, you know, a lot of it were appointments to tie positions in state government. I was 2 years ahead of Obama in terms of going to the next level because I was the 1st Democrat governor elected in Illinois in 2002.
And with this long and hard to pronounce last name, which was kind of cutting edge at the time because for the most part, Illinois was electing guys with Anglo names, Ryan Rashorn names. You know, we had Thompson, and we had Edgar, and we had Ryan before me. All
Speaker 1: those guys went to prison.
Speaker 0: Well, Ryan did. Yeah. Thompson put governor Kerner in prison. That's another story. But and then I won.
Speaker 1: It's like being a first lieutenant in Vietnam. The odds are bad.
Speaker 0: Right. Exactly. Right. Yeah. The death rate.
But I think, in some respects, I'm you know, I I should apologize to the American people because I might have had something to do with Obama's success because I think he saw that I if I won and I could win downstate in the rural areas and, you know, deep Southern Illinois, which is the American South, a guy like me from Chicago, he could do it. And with an old a name you can't say his name, he could do it. And 2 years later, he did, and he got the opportunity to give that speech in Boston, which was his William Jennings Bryant moment. Right? Oh, yeah.
He electrified the crowd with that speech. There. Yeah. So was I. I turned to Bobby Rush, the congressman, former Black Panther.
I said, Bobby, just think about that. As soon as you get down with that speech, you're the only guy. He's gonna be beating that guy in an election because Obama challenged him in 1998. But, no, I thought Obama was alright. You know?
Kind of cold and impersonal, but okay. And I was happy to be helpful, but he's one of the more selfish people in politics on a 1 on 1 level, and he's not pure like the driven snow in the sense of his ethics or morality. And, you know, Tony Hruska is the guy who bought this lot next to Obama's home. And one of the things I write about in my book is that when I was governor first and then he Barack won in 2004, I was asked to make a phone call on behalf of Michelle Obama because as soon as he won the senate race, she wanted a job either at Northwestern University or the University of Chicago Hospitals for 2 to $300,000 a year, the the wife of the new senator. And I was asked, would you call?
And
Speaker 1: Was she specific about how much she wanted? Yeah. She had specific about salary?
Speaker 0: Yeah. And I think too the Northwestern we should double check this, but I think my recollection is is good. I think Northwestern was willing to pay $200,000 to hire her. This is the wife of the new US senator and federal money for, you know, Medicaid and Medicare, things like that. And then they got a better off with the University of Chicago, which is in High Park where they're from.
300,000, and she ended up working there. And, and I called to help because you need to help people in politics, and the guy's wife wants a job. I'll make a phone call. He didn't get it she didn't get it because of me, but it didn't help to have didn't hurt to have the governor call and
Speaker 1: say The second Obama gets elected, Shell says I want a job Yep. At one of 2 hospitals for between 23300.
Speaker 0: That's correct. Yeah. And she ended up working at the University of Chicago Hospital on almost certainly $300,000 a year. And so Resco was really helpful really helpful to Obama. And and so when the investigations against me heated up, it had to do with fundraising, and Tony was part of that.
And I gotta say this. Tony suffered. He spent 8 years in prison. I don't know whether those things that they said he did were even illegal based on what they did to me. I'm not so sure they were illegal.
Had nothing to do with my administration. They were business matters. But Obama just ran from him, did nothing to help him, and, you know, pretends like he never knew him. And yet the moment he became senator, she gets that $300,000 a year job with a little help tiny little bit of help from me with a phone call. And then they buy this mansion in the Kenwood neighborhood, which is Hyde Park, Chicago.
Beautiful old mansions where the family of Leopold and Loeb, they lived. Yeah. Right? So a
Speaker 1: lot of sickos in that neighborhood going back a 100 years.
Speaker 0: Well, those guys, those 2 boys were. Yeah. Yeah. They Right. I mean, it's a bastion of, you know, liberal America there.
Speaker 1: Dicky Loeb.
Speaker 0: But so what happened was the Obamas bought this mansion. Now he's the new senator. The first thing they do is buy a mansion. I guess he felt like I was getting a mansion because I was the governor. It wasn't mine, but I got the use of a 50,000 square foot governor's mansion.
I guess they wanted their own. So they they could only afford 750,000. So they they, purchased the lot with the house on it, the mansion on it, but they couldn't afford the adjoining lot. So they asked Resco to buy it for him, and he did. And my understanding of the federal investigations with me were also connected to Obama that these guys were apparently looking into that and some other things.
Along the way, the dynamic changed, and Obama started moving up in the presidential race. And, here again, I it's something I'd like to take back, but I was the 1st governor in America to endorse him for president. We had personal relationships from Illinois, and he was running against Hillary. So it wasn't hard. Yeah.
But, what ultimately happened was, you know, he when he started rising, Axelrod, David, who used to work for me and then went on to Obama, I I knew what they were doing. They were for political reasons, they were, you know, influencing the media to pretty much lay Tony me up more than than than Obama. I was more Tony'd up. And Tony was a supporter and a friend, and he was sup and and and I liked Tony in spite of everything that's happened to him. But Obama knew him and loved him longer, and Tony had done more for Obama over the years than he did for me.
And, ultimately, politically and in the media, the media just conveniently ignored Dresko's relationship to Obama. They gave it very little coverage, and it was all about me and Tony.
Speaker 1: So Axelrod worked for you?
Speaker 0: He did when I was a congressman. What's he like? Oh, he's very smart. You know, I I like him a lot. His son was an intern for me.
His son, Michael, he's a great kid. He's grown up now. No. I like David a lot, but he's a very practical guy, and he's very ambitious politically. And, you know, it's a rough and tumble business.
And, you know, when his interest collide with yours, you know He's won out. He will exercise what's in his interests. Yeah. And I think a lot of the political consultants are that way. He denies saying this, but he did.
When when Kerry had been beaten by Bush in 2004, and the Democrats all felt like Kerry was gonna win. In fact, Kerry was getting some massage in Boston that night, election night, and and, what the guy's name? He used to write great speeches for Ted Kennedy. Bob Schrum. Schrum.
Schrum watched and said walked in and told him something like I'd hear this stuff from the Democrat world. You know? Let me be the first one to congratulate you, mister president. Right? Remember that?
And then the next morning, it was finally concluded that Bush won Ohio.
Speaker 1: Right? I knew them all very well, and Schrum, you know, had good qualities. You're smart, but what a toady. What a professional, of politicians. It's just really disgusting.
Speaker 0: So that was a Tuesday. Right? And, of course, Wednesday, I get a phone call about 6 in the evening. I'm at home. Election's over.
David Axelrod. Now he denies this, but it happened. And he said, you know, the Democrats, Hillary's the front runner in 2008, but too liberal to dislike. Kerry should've won. He couldn't.
We're looking for a new face, somebody from the heartland of America. That's what he called it. You need to have an open mind about thinking about running for president and challenging Hillary in 2008. Now at that time, he had Obama. Obama was his candidate for the senate.
He had been a consultant. Obama won, and he was had that great speech, and, you know, he was but I think David wasn't quite sure that maybe America was ready to elect a black person. So he's in the business of being a consultant. He's make wanted to make sure he has has a horse in the race because the Clintons already had their people. He had Edwards in 2004, and Didn't go well.
Yeah. Yeah. So he's looking for candidates for president. So Vilczyk, do you remember that name? Very well.
Me in Illinois and Obama, the 3 of us. He was try he was probably positioning himself to see which one of us might have the the better chance. And he picked the right horse eventually because Obama was the right one, and, of course, Obama's success and and my, calamity parallel. Right? And so he asked me, and this is a long answer to your question about 55 minutes ago, what what did Obama have to do with my my problems?
Was election night, we're there, and a labor boss by the name of Tom Balanoff, Service Employees Union, big supporter of both of us, came up to me. This Grant Park in Chicago, beautiful weather, magical historic night. And he said, Barack called me last night. He wanted me to talk to you about Valerie Jarrett. He'd like her, very close friend of Michelle Obama, by the way.
He'd like you to appoint her the United States senate because the governor has to appoint the senator. And, he wanted me to ask you what you would want. Can I call you and come and see you and make an appointment? I said, of course. Call me tomorrow.
We'll set something up this week. That's how it started. And then at the next day, I got done running. I went out and ran, like, 8 8 miles that day, 7 miles. I'm just loosening up.
I'm laying on my little family room floor stretching on my back, and I'm talking to one of my aids, and I said, oh, Balinov called. Apparently, Obama sent him to me. Obama sent him to me. He wants to make a deal on the senate seat. What what should we do?
What should we think about getting? Probably legal stuff, not, you know, give me cash or anything, like, which would be illegal. Political horse trading, which eventually is what the supreme court I mean, the appellate court said it was. And then I say and, you know, unless I do something, you know, significant, this will be in my obituary. I said, so and so had suggested that, we just kiss his ass and give him whoever he wants.
But that seems like that would be political malpractice, and we have a golden opportunity. We have a real opportunity here to, you know, do something meaningful. And then I said, I know it. This is effing golden. I'm not giving enough for nothing.
Right? I'm known for that.
Speaker 1: And You didn't realize this was being taped.
Speaker 0: I didn't realize it, but let me say something to your listeners. When you're in Chicago politics and the ethics in that place and the way they do business and the way the feds not wrongly necessarily try to set people up to see whether or not they're they'll take a temptation. They send people in. They give you a offer, you cash, and stuff like that. You'd be an idiot if you don't think they may be listening.
I it wasn't I had been under federal investigation for 5 years. I knew it because of the Resco stuff and some other stuff, people who who were supporters of mine and Obama. I mean, I thought it's all very possible, and everything I'm talking about doing is legal. And I was super careful because I was under such intense federal investigation at that time to make sure that anything I talked about doing, I checked with my governor's lawyer and lawyers. And my lawyer was on the on average, on all these FBI tapes, they tape my calls.
To this day, 98% of those tapes are covered up under a court seal. The judge would not allow us to talk about how my lawyer was on those calls 3 times a day because at that point, you know, like, you know, you know they're coming. You wanna be absolutely careful that whatever you do on this senate seat is legal. Oh, yeah. And so you you're throwing out all kinds of ideas because you do have this effing golden opportunity.
We talked about Oprah for a couple of days, all these crazy ideas, and everybody wanted it. Everybody wanted me to appoint them, as you can imagine. And, you know, and through third parties, they're suggesting deals that were political. They weren't illegal. Some had suggested money and campaign funds, which would have been illegal.
And but I would talk to my lawyer, you know, 3 times a day, and and he he was advising me. In fact, one call, I say something like, you know, we're we're discussing a creative way to create a nonprofit political action committee to help support the advancement of, access to health care, which was a big issue for me when I was governor. And Obama was talking about doing Obamacare and all this at the federal level. And some of the people that had put our health care plans together in Illinois went on to work for Obama. And so the question was whether or not there was something that we could do to be helpful to push it further in Illinois and do something.
And can we put together a 501c3or501c4? Obama gets some of these big rich democrats who give money to him to put it in our thing. And can we, you know, perhaps make the deal on the senate seat for something like this? And so I say to the lawyer. And to one of my aids, I say, I mean, how do you do a deal like that?
I mean, it's gotta be legal, obviously. I'm on the tape saying that. Couple years go by, I'm at my second trial because they failed to convict me on their corrupt charges the first trial, and that they're gonna play that tape against me. And I'll be actually charged one of my the the crimes. It was that phone call.
How How do you do a deal like that? I mean, it's gotta be legal, obviously. I'm asking. I don't even know if you could do it. I'm just thinking out loud.
And they criminalized it, but surely I'm gonna get acquitted on this. But the jury instruction was custom tailored to fit these conversations, to tell the jury that those things were criminal, and they can commit convict anybody if they do that. If they decide, for example, that this conversation you and I are having, and they you know, they charge us, and then they kinda prove it before a jury, and they gotta judge us who ain't doing anything they want them to do, all they gotta do is just write up a jury instruction, 12 laymen, average everyday ordinary people who aren't lawyers, aren't in politics. Just tell them this is against the law, and they'll make the right decision. They'll convict you of this conversation because they're told by the judge and the prosecutors it's against the law.
Speaker 1: So big picture, why do you think they did this to you? The Democratic establishment did this to you.
Speaker 0: Well, they were Bush prosecutors that started it. Here's what I think happened. So Fitzgerald. That's right. That guy's so dirty and rotten and corrupt.
I've noticed. Yeah. Here's what they so they came at 6 o'clock in the morning and arrested the sitting governor. I mean, I was Roger Stone, years before Roger Stone. Right?
My little girls are sleeping at you know, ready gonna get up shortly for school, but my little one at the time was 5. And, she was in bed with us, And I got up at 6. I was gonna actually go run that this winter, I was gonna go around. I had my running clothes, laid down. Phone rang, and I thought it was a friend of mine.
The guy says, I had a we have a warrant for your arrest and the agent so and so. I had state police security all the time as the governor. And I thought it was a friend of mine. I I say this a lot because he's like that when I really did. I said, come on.
State senator Jimmy De Leo. And I said, come on, Jimmy. Stop effing around. 6 o'clock in the morning. But it wasn't him.
It was really the FBI with a warrant. I think they they got me, handcuffed me, drove me to their facility. By 4 hours later, by 10 o'clock, they were a good cop, and they had me in. And you're not a bad guy. We listen to all your tapes.
You're just a product of Chicago politics. They wanted me to cooperate. I believe my interpretation was they wanted me to talk about Obama. I don't think they were ever gonna go after Obama at that point, first black president, but I think they wanted to see whether or not I would, here's a prison term, snitch on the president-elect, and then go back in to him and say that. They probably told him that anyway because they lie.
In any event, I said, there's you know, that was never involved in any wrongdoing with him. I don't know whether he did he he's involved in anything of that sort. I can tell you I'm not, and I got nothing to talk about. Whatever I discussed was politics. And, then they got it.
They changed their attitude. They shipped me to another facility, the court building. They put me in a small little cell, and they had me next to this really angry guy all caught up on PCP, you know, screaming and MF, and he had no clue that he was right next to the governor. You know? I'm doing push ups in there because I'm thinking this is really good this is really a bad day, and this is gonna be really bad.
And may but maybe at some point, I wanna be able to say that while I was in the heat of the moment, I still was strong enough to do some push ups in my cell. So I did push ups in there. So I can say that I did it. Right? And
Speaker 1: Plus, if you're gonna join a gang, you need to be buff.
Speaker 0: Yeah. There's so true to that. Yeah. Anyway, so I think and then they went to Obama the next day, and they did they interviewed him. They call him 3 o twos, FBI 3 o twos.
Every criminal defendant is entitled under the constitution to have evidence that could exonerate him or her. And Obama's 302 is irrelevant directly relevant to my case. To this day, they won't give it to us, what Obama said. And he publicly contradicted what the labor boss, Balanoff, had said that he had come to me the night before because it all started that way. And Balanoff had testified under oath twice in two trials that he said that Obama had called him and had sent him over to me, and, you know, it was about talking about a political deal.
And Obama publicly said no. What he said in those FBI 3 o twos might contradict that. I don't know. If you lie to the FBI, you know, it's a crime. So I think what what happened was because it's unusual, and you know this.
The new president doesn't keep the US attorney from the previous president, especially if it's the other party.
Speaker 1: Of course.
Speaker 0: But suddenly now, they made a deal with Obama. We'll leave you alone. You keep us here until we get him. And it wasn't until they got me at the 2nd trial years later that they all went into private practice and became partners of big firms making 1,000,000 of dollars. 1 lady one of them became a judge, but Fitzgerald's a partner in a big law firm, the lead pros the lead prosecutor, partner in a big law firm.
And the moment that they got their convictions against me in the 2nd trial, that's where they went. And I think the reason Obama did nothing to be helpful while I'm in there and after being in prison for, well, five and a half, 6 six and a half years. I was unusual. It, unlike the 151,000 federal inmates, I was probably the only guy who was able to get this is the vernacular prison. My paperwork in front of 2 presidents.
Axelrod was getting my request for commutation from Obama on Obama's desk. He gave him letters from, you know, my 2 daughters, my young daughters to the president. Obama's daughters are is the same age as mine, and, I died already six and a half years asking for clemency. And we recognize the politics of him and, you know, his image and walking out of the White House in January 20, 2017. So we're not even gonna have it be where someone might have a, you know, a screenshot of him leaving the White House and me leaving the big house at the same time because we were connected to the case.
But why don't you just cut my sentence in half from 14 years? I never took a pen. It was request for campaign contributions and a political deal you wanted to make. Right? Just cut my sentence from 14 years to 7, which would be higher than anybody governor's ever gotten from Illinois who's been in prison, probably maybe the longest actual time served of any governor.
And I'll limp out of prison in October of 2017. And it sure looked promising in the days leading up to that because a few days before that, he had provided he had released from prison a member of the FALN, the Puerto Rican terrorist group that was blowing up federal bills.
Speaker 1: So you should have been a Puerto Rican terrorist.
Speaker 0: This guy got got released by Obama a few days before. I'm thinking, oh, that's a good sign for me. Right? Yeah. And then the guy got 35 years in prison for treason against the United States.
His name was Bradley Manning. He went up went into prison as Bradley Manning. Came out of prison, Chelsea Manning, through the largesse of the taxpayers. Obama cut him cut her loose after 6 years or 7 years. I'm thinking, I'm easy compared to these 2.
And, and I had members of congress, democrats who had served with, Ax Ron asking them to do it, and, he didn't do it. And I think it's because he made a deal with them. They were basically said, we'll leave you alone. You don't interrupt. You get get involved in any of this, and you don't help him.
That's what I think. But here's what's interesting, and it shows a lot about the kind of person Trump is. And all through this process, these long hard years and the years of, you know, dashed hopes and expectations, because there was no way we could lose our appeal. These things are legal. Then you figure then they then they reverse the senate seat after I'm in prison for three and a half years and vacate my sentence.
Now I have no sentence. So I went from 14 years to no years for a year, which was ease easy easier time to do because when you're looking you know, you you walk into prison in March of 2012, March 15th, and your exit day is May 2024. Right? You that's a long hard road. So you've tried to break up in, psychologically, try to break up that time.
Right? So you say, okay. Let's get from here to the first the appeal. We're gonna I have hopes that we can win that, though deep down you just know. You've seen enough of the system to know you're dead.
Right? But you all cling to that hope. They can't uphold the senate seat. They reverse it. Now I have no sentence.
I discussed with my attorney. When do we go back to resensing? They gotta give you a sentence. You go back to the same judge. Let's just wait a year.
I'll just stay here. I'll keep, you know, working out, reading, and just trying to grow, and then we'll go back to this judge when I will have served almost 5 years, more than just about anybody. I mean, nobody in American history other than me has served a single day in prison for a fundraising violation, and this wasn't even a violation. But let's assume the worst that it was. No one had did a single day, and my lawyer presented this to the judge.
There's not a single case. And letters, my little girls are grown up. They gave beautiful presentations in court. I I'm I'm on video from Colorado in prison for the resentencing, August 9, 2016. K?
So I go from no sentence. The centerpiece of the case was a big lie to begin with. It was never a crime. No sale of the senate seat. No sentence.
Back before the judge, I've been a well behaved inmate. We submit well over a 100 letters from my colleagues, guys that I helped. Good guys. I'm criminals, but I learned a lot of these guys aren't bad guys. Some are really bad.
Some are pretty good guys who just, you know, have gone the wrong way and got bad habits. We submit the letters, and, there's real expectation that I'll I'll go home. He puts me back at 14 years, and I hear my older daughter sobbing in the courtroom after they gave these beautiful presentations. I'm watching my little girls who've grown, And I'm so proud of them, and look how, you know, how sweet and nice and smart they are. And, boy, Patty did a great job raising them.
You know? All these things I'm thinking at this resentencing. But here's where God comes in, and this whole miracle of how I eventually got home, and that Donald Trump would be the instrument. See, this is part of what I read about in my book. I I got to know him a little bit on Celebrity Apprentice, a show I never watched.
But after they took everything away from me, and I had no income, and I was an honest governor, didn't get rich in the business, I was getting these opportunities to do these, you know, in enter one place that you can actually make a living when you got this leprosy is an entertainment. Yeah. Exactly. No one wants to come near you when you got it, understandably.
Speaker 1: But you're better than Diddy, so you can still you can still get paid. Yeah.
Speaker 0: So, yeah, I turned down a bunch of really bad stuff like being a greeter at on a HBO show called The Bunny Ranch. It's a whorehouse in Henderson, Nevada. They offered me 6 figures. They thought I was perfect for the role because I was such a scoundrel in the media. Right?
I turned it down. The guy's name was Dennis Hoff. You know?
Speaker 1: Well. Yeah.
Speaker 0: Yeah. Nice guy. Yeah. He was. But I couldn't I can't I got 2 little girls.
I'm not doing that. Anyway, but Trump's show can't call in because he saw me on television fighting back. And, so I did Celebrity Apprentice. This is October 2009 that we tape it. It airs in, like, March 2010.
My first trial is June 2010, and he was so good to me. He was so sympathetic. He was so kind. People don't realize on a personal level that Trump's a kindhearted person, very different from most politicians, and the direct opposite of a cold, selfish, completely practical Obama. Right?
So when Obama passes me by, back to the resentencing on 9th August, the judge puts me back at 14 years. My daughter's sobbing in the courtroom. I can't see her, but I hear it. Hope is gone now. Right?
But here's how God works. He sends me more hope because that afternoon, Trump's given a speech in North Carolina to run against Hillary, and he starts talking about crooked Hillary. Right? And before the audience start chanting, lock her up, lock her up, he says. And then there's this governor from Illinois.
Blah blah blah. They just gave him 14 years. Again, 14 years. He's a choir boy next to Hillary, something like that. Trump's got me on his radar.
Right? And I'm thinking because I believe I know politics. I think he's gonna beat her. Even from a foreign prison, I felt he was gonna beat her because he was different. He was standing up to stuff.
He wasn't backing down like typical politicians do. And I thought, wow. So if Obama doesn't do it, who knows? And he was so good to me on that show. Well, he didn't do it, Obama, 20th January.
1 month later, Trump's been president for 1 month. I get called into the case manager's office, and they they have a form I have to sign. It's a waiver. I have to if I agree to allow the White House Pardoning Office to get my prison records. Of course, I'll what do I sign?
Right? So I sign it. 2 things. Trump's looking out. He wants to see whether or not, you know, I was a well behaved inmate.
There's a way perhaps where he can send me home. And Obama was never gonna do it because they never asked for my records. And what that did for me was it gave me hope for the next couple of years, and then after the Supreme Court didn't take our case, god bless you, my friend, Me and my homies in prison are watching my wife on your show on a Monday in the spring of 2018. Supreme Court turned me down that weekend. That Monday evening, you had Patty, my wife Patty on.
Speaker 1: Yeah. I'll never forget it.
Speaker 0: Yeah. And and you were fantastic, and and, I I'm really grateful to you for giving me
Speaker 1: gosh. Well, there's nothing more beautiful than, a loyal spouse.
Speaker 0: Yeah. She's amazing, ain't she?
Speaker 1: Yeah. I agree with that strongly. So when you see going through everything that you did, when you see the FBI raid Mar a Lago in the summer of 2022, what do you think?
Speaker 0: Deja vu all over again. These lion scumbags. Yeah. Weaponized their politicians, their political agents. KGB Soviet style police state politics in America, and the Democrats have embraced it.
The Bush administration started it, but this Fitzgerald is his own guy. And Comey and Fitzgerald are real close.
Speaker 1: Of course, they are.
Speaker 0: And there's no doubt in my mind that what they did to me at the triple a level to a Democrat governor, they said, oh, we can get away with this. Let's do it to Trump, a Republican president at the major league level. And that's exactly what this whole Russian collusion bullshit was all about. And I'm watching this from prison, and I I know all of it. I recognize it.
I know the tactics. I know how with that stuff they say to the media, how they leak stuff and how they lie. They're political operatives. Our country is on the crossroads, on the threshold. I mean, so important to elect Trump for a thousand reasons.
This might be the most important one of them. Because if we lose this, the ability in America to elect our leaders without the intervention of prosecutors, criminalizing things that aren't crimes for politics? The voters don't have any choices. Free and fair elections don't matter. It's all rigged like they do in, like, the old Soviet Union.
What did Beria say? Show me the man. I'll show you the crime. Exactly. Yeah.

It's the 5th largest state in America. Right? Now they got me. And I said, well, what's this about? And the guy said, the sale of the senate seat.
I said, what? First of all, you gotta be a horse's ass to think that you can get away with something like that. I'm gonna steal I'm gonna sell Obama's any president's. But Obama at that time was a demigod elevated by the media. Okay?
All superficial bullshit about how great he is. But I'm gonna be that stupid where I'm gonna actually try to sell his senate seat, And I'm already under intense federal investigation for Bresco and some of these other guys. And, you know, the activists and politics and stuff, and they're trying to find crimes. They can't find them for 5 years, so now this. I'm thinking the media, they're not so great, but the media is certainly gonna laugh them out of court before they get into court.
Who'd be so stupid to do something like that? And the reality was they were all over it because it was just too super sensational to pass up. It sold newspapers. It was good for ratings. So they're more interested in the storyline and the truth, abrogating their responsibility to all of us as citizens to keep an eye on the power.
The government has no power, and these federal prosecutors have all the power, unchecked power, not foreseen by our founding fathers when they divided our government. They didn't know that there'd be a branch out of the executive part of the government that a a an agency out of the executive branch that would grow like a cancer there, originally going after the Al Capones of the world Right. And now taking that power to all kinds of levels to turn it into a political Then
Speaker 1: it becomes a secret police.
Speaker 0: There you go. Yeah. This is why the work that you do, Tucker, and I mean, you're so nice to me, but I'm grateful to you for what you do and others like you who are fighting for, you know, freedom and Elon Musk and these guys.
Speaker 1: Which is so corrupt. I mean and I think it's important to say out loud what it is, which, again, is corrupt and evil.
Speaker 0: Corrupt and evil.
Speaker 1: Yeah. So, does, I mean, does Trump have a well, in a fair election, do you think Trump will win?
Speaker 0: Oh, yeah. If if fair election, he wins every one of those battleground states with some cushion. Yeah. It's another thing. I wanna say to your listeners, they should listen to me on this sort of stuff.
You know, in a fair election. One thing I've been good at in life is winning elections. I've run 14 of them. 7 or 8 were really hard. Primaries, really hard against other Democrats.
You know, running against Republicans for governor in Illinois, being the 1st Democrat to win after 26 years, Those are really competitive races. So I'm giving me high marks. I'm an expert witness when it comes to politics, understanding the mood of the voters, sensing them, not just what the polling says. Actually, it's more instinctive what you saw at Madison Square Garden when you gave that great speech. I saw the crowds there.
They're not Nazis. You know what they are? They're white people, and they're black people. Exactly. They're Hispanics, and they're Asian.
They're old, and they're young. They're good, decent, hardworking, forgotten Americans. Yes. And there's more of them that aren't, and they're they've learned to know what's being done to them and how our country is setting the priorities that go against their interests now so blatantly for those who don't legally come to the United States. They're not stupid.
And, I believe if this election is run fairly, it's gonna be a 19 or a 2024 version of 1980 when the country made us this choice between Reagan and Carter by the 1st or second week in the of October and started shifting and going towards Reagan ended up winning, you know, maybe 49 states or something. That won't happen now because the demographic in America is different. The ball games, those battleground states. But if I'm right about this, Trump will sweep all of them and might be competitive in states like Virginia, maybe, or Minnesota even. Keep an eye on that.
We'll see. But I I'm very hopeful. And, as Reagan used to say, cautiously optimistic.
Speaker 1: Well, it does seem I mean, I'd bet my house on the proposition that Trump is more popular than Kamala Harris, and more people, in those 7 states will vote for Trump than Kamala Harris. But that doesn't mean that he's gonna be president.

Speaker 0: Well, that's a good question. I couldn't imagine what happened in 2020. You can't really talk about it, but I have tremendous skepticism about all of that. I was asked after that election, about, you know
Speaker 1: Well, you literally can talk about it. And if we talk about that, well, this will be taken off YouTube.
Speaker 0: Yeah. But why do
Speaker 1: you think that is? Why do you I mean, if somebody says, you know, we can talk about anything you want except this one thing Yeah. What what does that tell you?
Speaker 0: Well, you look at those FBI tapes. I wanna play 98% of them. Right? They're they're on Yeah. They won't let they wouldn't let me play them in court even because they prove my innocence.
Speaker 1: So Right? If you're hiding something, there's a reason.
Speaker 0: Right? The ones that are lying.
Speaker 1: Yeah. Of course.
Speaker 0: They're the ones who did it. But I think that I I think that so much I think there's such a movement for Trump right now. I think there's such a movement against what's happening, and I think the testicular virility, that great courage Trump showed at that moment when he got shot
Speaker 1: Yes.
Speaker 0: Butler elevated him to a very different place. He's no longer your typical politician. Right. So I think he represents something that's really powerful, and you can just see all the things that are unfolding. And here's another reason why I feel very good about this election.
The public polls, whatever they are, I never relied on those. We had our polling, and we it it guided how we ran the race and what the strategy was to run and win. And you know that the other side has their polling too, and in all likelihood, it's probably as good as yours. So they know what you know. They're seeing what you're seeing.
And so if you really wanna know how the campaigns are going, just watch the candidates, where they go, what they say, what they do, and what they're running on. And Trump's running on a message on things that he wants to do for the American people. You might disagree with those things, but this is what he's saying he's gonna do. It's about you, the people. What's she saying?
He's the Nazi? Now they're in the last late stages, and they're they're making these outrageous accusations and calling people names. Whenever that would happen to me, they weren't calling me a Nazi, but I was you know, you get nasty stuff thrown at you. When you're ahead, you love it because you know you're winning. Yeah.
Right? So he's winning. And if it's fair and honest, he'll win comfortably in those 7 states.
Speaker 1: So if they come to us the day, after the election, and by day, I mean, Morning Joe and the and the rest of the sycophants in the media, and tell us that Kamala Harris turns out to be just incredibly popular incredibly popular. And her compelling vision got her across the finish line with a massive margin, and she got, you know, 84,000,000 votes. And she's the winner. And if you disagree, you know, you're a criminal. Will people accept that?
I always say I will not accept that. But will others accept that? Like, what happens then?
Speaker 0: In Nazi Germany, they held a plebiscite. Hitler wanted to confirm some of what he was doing, and it was, like, 99% yeah. That's how you say this in Germany. Right? I think that's the only way they could even remotely have
Speaker 1: But, I mean, shouldn't look. I I I'm I don't wanna be an election denier or denier of anything that's true. I always wanna acknowledge what's true, period. But I I also don't think that any of us are under the obligation to accept them at face value at their word. I I think they've kind of tried the the limits of good faith.
And aren't we allowed to say, look, you say Kamala Harris won? Great. Show us the books.
Speaker 0: No doubt about it. We know them to be liars. They've been lying through the years, and they've they just recently been lying about, about what? The cognitive capabilities of the president, McDowell, throw him out of office and, you know, hijack him from office and put her there and, you know, lying about her record. She didn't work at McDonald's even.
They lie about everything. Right? No. They're we can't believe that. It's gonna be really hard to believe.
Speaker 1: Why don't we have electronic voting machines? I I thought the idea well, I was never against them. I never thought about it, but I I assumed that they were more efficient, that you got the results faster, and that they were more accurate. And they're not more accurate than hand counting paper ballots, and they're certainly not faster. You know, the results in countries that don't have electronic voting machines are reliable, and they're in long before our results are.
So what is the reason that we have electronic voting machines?
Speaker 0: So among the different people I write about in my book is Walter Hill, black guy from East Saint Louis, Illinois. Yes. And when I first got to prison, he embraced me. He was, you know, you my governor. Right?
And he told me by the time that we had met, he he had lost some weight, but he had been a big guy. And and when he told me about having met him once down in the metro east area of Illinois, down southwestern Illinois, in East Saint Louis, I I kinda remembered him. And he was like some liquor license commissioner, and I I don't think he'd mind me saying this. A colorful figure and a good guy, but he was wrong when he did.
Speaker 1: I like him already.
Speaker 0: Yeah. But he said to me and and he told he was sympathetic to me because he's up in politics. Couldn't believe I'm in prison for what? But he said to me, you know, I I voted for you 2 times, right, in East Saint Louis. And I said, oh, wow.
Thanks. How many times did you vote for Obama? 9. I said, you're a racist, man. We're both Democrats.
You vote for the black guy 9 times, me only 2. Right. That's why. That's why. I don't I don't
Speaker 1: remember Obama running for president 9 times. How did how did mister Hill pull that off?
Speaker 0: No. In that first election because That's the first election. I I met him in 2012 before the reelection, so this would have been the 2008 election. And and I frankly believe he was telling me the truth, but that's the answer to your question about those electric those machines. You know, they're they what gives me hope too about this election is those among the ways Democratic precinct workers and Obama and I know this.
We would we were, you know, high up, but you kinda know these activists are doing whatever they're doing in in in the polling places that are controlled by Democrats largely in the inner city, in the poor neighborhoods, is through the what what's called the absentee ballots, and and they gather them up and harvest them. And what happened in 2020 was that on steroids with the COVID situation and the mail in ballots. And that's among the reasons why I have a you know, I believe an honest skepticism about the result of that. Don't know that Trump even had a fair chance to get in the court on any of that stuff. And, again, I know from my experience how the courts can, you know, be dishonest.
There's gotta be so many reforms that have to happen, god willing Trump wins, to clean up that justice system. And I think there has to be nobody should be unchecked. I think that's the lesson from my heart experience. Human nature, even good people can get tempted to do the bad things and wrong things. Another reason why.
Thank you, scientists, for your great intelligence and the great contributions you make. But unless we guide you through conscience, which comes from God Oh, exactly. You're gonna destroy the world. So, answer your question, I think the the Bodie system is the way it is today because of political priorities that are above and beyond what's fundamentally right for our country. And what really makes me angry at my party is nothing sacred to these people anymore that they would weaponize the law and the justice system to destroy Trump because they know that if they if they destroy Trump, nothing's gonna stop them from destroying our freedoms.
And little by little, this I know too having lost mine. I see the steady erosion of freedom in America, and it's so much like countries that, like, my father came from after World War 2, Serbia. He didn't wanna live in a communist country. And, you know, they saw, they know how those rights and freedoms are taken away, and here's this, what Lincoln called the last best hope on Earth. If we lose freedom here, forget about it all over the world.
I think we're gonna start seeing the beginning of a new dark age where tyrants and totalitarian governments are the rule and democracy's dead. That's what I think.

If we lose this, it's why everybody wants to come here, but just follow the law. Right? And they're destroying the law. And the idea of sanctuary cities, I'm sitting in prison watching the Democrats with these sanctuary cities. That was unthinkable.

Speaker 1: I mean, what happened in Fort Sumter in 18/61 was less radical than sanctuary cities. We're saying that we're ignoring federal immigration laws. How are we not breaking away from the rest of the United States? Right. How's that that secession?

Speaker 1: Crazy. And but, again, the media just made it seem like an exercise in compassion.
Speaker 0: Yeah. You're I mean, when you guys talk about mainstream media, you're right. They've been so corrupted and so co opted. They're corporate media.
Speaker 1: Have you talked to Obama since he got out? No. Mm-mm. He never called you?
Speaker 0: Oh, no. Oh, god. No.
Speaker 1: What's he mad at you about? What'd you do wrong? No.
Speaker 0: I don't think he's I don't think he's mad. He's just like, that guy can only hurt me, and, you know, he's living the good life. You know, you think about Obama. He's close to being a billionaire. Those Obamas have monetized like the Clintons did their time in the white oval office in the White House.
Speaker 1: I think about Trump. How how did Obama get so rich?
Speaker 0: Right. Well, I mean, he's, you know, he's got that whole establishment stuff to, you know, overpay them for things. I think got a deal for, like, a a book deal that was, like, $60,000,000 or something in advance. And I don't know what the other things he's doing, but I I think there's, like, documentaries he supposedly makes from Netflix. They paid him a $100,000,000 or something.
But I think about that, and I think of and I know, you know, them in the moment they want for the for the senate and you know?
Speaker 1: They wanted a man to run the first thing, and she
Speaker 0: wanted a job. Yeah. There's other things about him that I've been told by Tony that I don't think I should say just because, boy, they're terrible of true, and I tend to believe they are. About his personal behavior? About about the desire to have, upward mobility.
Yeah. And, you know, and to where he was at in the late nineties and He's a money worshiper. Yeah. And I think I see I compare that, and I think about Trump who's made all that money and built it up in business and then decided to leave that good life, to go and put his self through this in this rotten, nasty business, and they get he gets treated like that, where they're trying to literally destroy him and his family and all that wealth that he created. And the juxtaposition between that, where he wants to serve and Obama, how they catapulted to that level after the presidency by just playing the inside game and being part of the establishment.
It's a dramatic Do you see difference.
Speaker 1: When you keep hearing these whispers, a lot of them are just, like, nonsense on the Internet. But then you do hear from Democrats, I don't know if it's true, but that Obama would like to see his wife run after Kamala Harris loses. Do you think there's any truth to any of that?
Speaker 0: Yes. I I think that's not unlikely. I don't know that she wants to do it, though.
Speaker 1: But I I It doesn't seem like she does, but who do I know? I'm not Yeah. I know.
Speaker 0: I'm the same way. Sure. I can see the I can see the possibility of that.
Speaker 1: How much control does Obama have over the modern Democratic Party?
Speaker 0: It's a good question. He's the most influential person in the Democratic Party today, but I would say that his influence wanes as the years go by. He's not as influential now as he was 4 years ago or 8 years ago. You know, times change. New people come in.
I do think that the the socialist, the democrats, the the AOC types are further left than Obama. And, that's a tiger that that he can't hold by the tail that are kinda pushing him and others that way. I don't know that he's comfortable doing that. The thing about him is he's got a fundamental left wing ideology, but he's a lot more practical than that. He's all about just winning for himself.
And, you know, I I think about when he ran for president in 2008, he supported a border wall. Oh, yeah. Right? It was practical politics at that time. He was willing to just ditch that right away.
And so I I would say as time goes by, his influence will wane continue to wane. But probably 4 years from now, he'll probably be still be, god willing, Trump's the president, the most influential Democrat.
Speaker 1: Boy, he was he was pretty cold with Joe Biden. He was always kind of running around pathetically bragging about how close he was to Obama, and they were buddies. And Obama has knifed him twice. 1 in 2016, supporting Hillary for the nomination, and again, this summer with, you know, leading the coup against him. Mhmm.
Speaker 0: What's that? It's Machiavelli. Yeah. He went to Harvard. He was probably reading the law and reading the prints.
Yeah. Right? No. He's cold hearted, very Machiavellian. Look.
It's a tough business, and I don't wanna be a whiner or a complainer and, like, oh, woe is me. Look what happened
Speaker 1: to me. It is a tough business.
Speaker 0: Rough business, and you know you're in a rough business like that. Harry Truman said if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog. Right? Yeah. There's a lot of truth to that.
But within the spectrum of these practical people and a business of bullshitters and duplicitous phonies who almost embrace their hypocrisy as if it's like some sort of skill or talent that they have. In other words, Michael Jordan, you know, his game got better as he got greater. Right? He became a much better shooter. I'm from Chicago, 6 championships.
We love Jordan. Right? But Jordan wasn't as good a shooter when he first came out of college as he became. His game got better. And so he embraced that.
He go he can move go to the left a little bit better than he did when he first started. You embrace the improvement of his skills in sports. These politicians, what they do is like the Chuck Shumers of the world, they laugh at their duplicity and their hypocrisy. It isn't that they're being phony or fake. They feel good because they're getting away with it.
Yeah. And the people are buying it. Right? And at some level, including me, there's a level of that that's part of that business. But there is a difference between a lot of the people in politics that aren't like that.
And in spite of what everybody, the where the establishment's been saying about Trump, he is probably the least political of the people I've known in politics, and I've known it a lot. I mean, I knew Biden when he was a senator and I was in congress. I knew Bill Clinton. He was actually a very nice guy. That's my Bill Clinton position.
I really liked him. Right? Defended him, and that was a hard thing to defend. I mean, what are you doing with an intern, man? Come on.
Right? Anyway, Obama, a nuisance 1995. Was that
Speaker 1: Monica Lewinsky thing some sort of op from a foreign country to control Clinton? You ever heard anybody say that?
Speaker 0: No. I haven't, actually. No.
Speaker 1: You do wonder.
Speaker 0: Do you think? Yeah.
Speaker 1: I don't know. Gosh. I I don't know. Yeah. No.
I think well, I think it was I think it was real. Oh, totally. Yeah.

Speaker 1: sort of wonder, what do you ever talk to Clinton? Is he still around? You never you hear he's not well, but I don't know.
Speaker 0: You see? No. I I haven't seen him since, before prison.
Speaker 1: Is he still a force in the party?
Speaker 0: Less so.

Speaker 0: Yeah. He's he he he less so. Obama's eclipsed him.
Speaker 1: You said that, it was if it was a choice between Obama and Hillary, it wasn't a tough one for you. You obviously know Hillary. Why why weren't you eager to support her?
Speaker 0: The reason Bill Clinton won and the reason she lost is the reason you talked about Trump at the Madison Square Garden. Trump likes people. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Clinton likes people.
Oh, sure. He does. She has contempt for people. You know, that basket of deplorables Yeah. I think she feels that way about all the people, you know, everyday people.
She's just so just so focused and guided on a political animal. Whatever she stands for is driven by focus groups and polls. She has no, like, feel for anything. I really believe that about her. I mean, she's, you know, at a personal of the meter, I mean, you know, no surprise she didn't win.
Right? Really? Yeah.
Speaker 1: No. Not a warm person.
Speaker 0: Oh, not at all. Very cold, very cold hearted, very ambitious, very dishonest, very dishonest. She had well, her best friend worked for me in my administration. I hired this woman. I can't remember her name, but, and she was a nice woman.
She was competent. But it it it it's not like she ever told me anything bad about Hillary. It's just that I'd been around Hillary enough, not a lot, but enough, and Bill Clinton too, to see a very big difference between the two people. He just naturally liked Clinton. I'll I'll tell you a quick story.
You wanna hear this? Very much. Yeah. So I'm a congressman. It's 1999.
The United States and NATO Mhmm. Not with without UN approval are doing the my father's Serbia what you Russia's doing to Ukraine now. Oh, I noticed. Right? We decided to bomb a sovereign country, forcing them to give up a part of their country.

Speaker 0: It was 1999. It was the Balkans and Serbia and the United States and NATO decided to bomb Serbia over Kosovo, which is part of Serbia. And, basically, it was whether or not they the Serbs would accept an agreement that was made in France, Ramboulet, that basically said, this part of your country has to be submitted to a referendum where the Muslims outnumber the Christian community by, like, 10 to 1. And if you don't submit this to a vote, which obviously is gonna go for separation, secession, we're gonna bomb you. Extortion at the highest level.
Speaker 1: But what what was the motive there? Why would we wanna get involved in the internal affairs of Serbia? Mhmm. I don't under I like, why why would we kill all those people to achieve that result? Mhmm.
Do you have any idea?
Speaker 0: I do. I have different ideas. I think a lot of it has to do with, you know, the politics in the Middle East and, you know, Muslim, you know, having a Muslim country or 2 in Europe itself because before that was the war in Bosnia where it was divided up 3 ways and the Muslims have a section of the of of Bosnian to the east as the Republic of Srpska where the Serbs and the Croatians are to the west. The Balkans have historically been, you know, very difficult places with the different peoples getting along, and it is did a

Speaker 0: Yeah. That's exactly right. But I I, you know, I learned this about politics at the high level, which was surprising to me that a lot of our foreign policy, and this is frightening, is driven by campaign contributions.

Speaker 0: Yeah. I could see
Speaker 1: All of it. Yeah.
Speaker 0: But foreign policy, think about that.
Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 0: Yeah. I
Speaker 1: mean, of course, it is. Yeah. Oh, I see it every day.
Speaker 0: Yeah. Well, she was running for the US Senate in New York. Hillary was. And there's a prominent Albanian community in the state of New York. How much Clinton's desire and attention to support, you know, the the Kosovar issue that the Albanians supported had something to do with his local domestic politics, Tip O'Neill said.
All politics is local. The Clintons are experts at that. You know, I don't know for sure that that was the motivation. I think it was my it might have been part of it because she was running for the senate. However, it it was, they did it.
And I was the only Serbian American in congress, and I was a Democrat. My party was doing this. But most of the Republicans went along with it as well because it was the established Republican party of the Chinese. Right? Of course.
It's war. You get to kill people.
Speaker 1: It's a good thing.
Speaker 0: Yeah. That's right. Yeah. And so they bombed this this country my father came from, and and it was on a personal level, it was really hard. You know?
I think about my late father, and, you know, he would tell me stories about World War 2. He spent my father spent 4 years in a Nazi prisoner of war camp and then 3 years in a refugee camp after the war waiting for the US to pass a law called the Displaced Persons Act, which allowed my father and millions of others like him with these million, these hard long and hard to pronounce last names a chance to come to America. Freedom. My dad loved America, and he just there was no place like it. You can if you're worthy and work hard, you can make it.
And if you don't, your kids can do good, like, well, actually, it happened with my brother and me. But freedom was the thing. And I saw then. David Ashford was working for me then. And I would go to his office, and I'd vent these MF or his this MF and Clinton.
Where did he come up? Serbia was an ally for the United with the United States in World War 2. Serbia was an ally of the United States in World War 1. And now the the they're violating international law and bombing a sovereign country to support those on the other side of the war as opposed to trying to work something out through the United Nations? You know what?
It was just banding. It's just And I gotta support this I gotta support my party. So, anyway and I bet. And so we're figuring out ways where I could be constructive. Now I'm an American, and God forbid and now we're at war with the country my father came from.
My loyalties are to the United States, and there was a big vote. Bless you for saying that. The war there was a big vote on supporting the military effort against Serbia, against my father's country. It was tied. 212212.
My colleague and, at the time, friend Jesse Jackson junior voted against the war. The Black Caucus was against the war.
Speaker 1: Good friend.
Speaker 0: Black kids go and fight these wars. I took the position. I hate this war. I spoke against it before they started it. I was one of 15 congressmen, democrats, because senate's another one, who booked said, don't do this.
You bomb this country. You're gonna unleash the furies. Milosevic is a crazy guy. He's gonna kick out innocent Kosovars out of that country. It's coming.
They wanted it. It was a provocative act by NATO. No one Milosevic would do that, and most people would suffer like they did. But then they put it on the Serbs, right, and demonize them worldwide. But the Black Caucus in many ways, the black community really understands abuse of power more than any other community because they've been on the wrong end of that historically.
They're not buying it. So I'm the bombing starts on the Thursday as we all leave from congress. They timed it. We had a 2 week recess for spring break. They start and I'm Saturday.
You know? I'm watching this on CNN. And, anyway, long long story short, I'm Vented to Axelrod, and he and I I I this is making me sick. I gotta do something. By then, they had taken 3 US search 3 US soldiers had been taken prisoner by the Serbs during that war.
They had stumbled into Serbia, and they were taken prisoners. Nobody knew where they were. The Red Cross wasn't allowed in. Milosevic had been demonized, the president of Serbia, in in many ways, justifiably, but worldwide. And they were making him look and they were calling ethnic cleansing, genocide, which is also another lie.
It's not good. But ethnic cleansing, it you know, it's the nature of how things have happened in Europe all over the place. 12,000,000 Germans were ethnically cleansed from the east to the west after World War 2.
Speaker 1: A lot of them murdered.
Speaker 0: Yep. Yeah. Right? So, anyway, I'm frustrated. Comes up with they take the soldiers.
I'm the because I'm the only serve these guys from the Serbian government are reaching out to me. I don't know if they're real or not. And I see one of them on television on with Milosevic, a guy by the name of Kadich, Bogolyub Kadich, very interesting man. Long and short of it is, I'm meeting with him, and I wanna play a role. I gotta do something.
And he says, why don't you try to get those soldiers out? But you can't do it by yourself because I speak the language. That's my first language, my father. You know? My mother was American born.
So how do you get there? They won't let me. I'm a junior congressman. I mean, they'll crush me. They won't let me go.
State department was against it. And then I saw that reverend Jesse Jackson, Ramsey Clark. You know? Of course. Right.
Reverend Jesse Jackson wanted to do what Ramsey Clark had done. He wanted to go visit the bombing sites, but that he had made a condition that he won't do it unless he can see the 3 soldiers. So I don't know Jesse Jackson at the time. He since then, he's become kind of a friend. So I, I see the sun.
You know, we're a young congressman, and I see Jesse junior, and we vote on a Tuesday. We get down with our votes, like, 11 o'clock Washington time. We're sitting in the chamber. It's empty. It's just me and him.
And I said, you know, hey, Jesse. I saw that your dad wants to go to Serbia and see those soldiers. He goes, yeah. And I said, I don't know if this is bullshit or not, but these guys from the government approached me because my father came from that country, and I speak the language. If I could arrange for your father to go to Serbia to see those soldiers, you think he might do it?
And he said, he sure would. Why don't you call the reverend now? And I I I said, what? He said, call the reverend now. And I said, you call your dad reverend?
Right. Not surprised. No. And he said you call him. I said, look.
I don't know your dad. You call him. Stevie said, then let me know, and then I'll call him. So moments later, we're at our offices. He calls me.
I'm in the Cannon building. Right? 5th floor. And he says, I just talked to the reverend. He's in Mississippi at a road voter registration drive.
Call him. He's waiting for your call. So I call him. First time I ever talked to Jesse Jackson, it's like, I don't know, spring, May of 1999 and, April, May. And I said, and, you know, if you ever talk to him on the phone, he speaks very softly.
He's a very powerful speaker, but privately, very softly. And I said, reverend Jackson, this is, congressman Lukoyevich. I served with your son. Understand? He says, I said, I'm can I call you on a hard line?
You know, you're on a cell phone. I it it's kind of a delicate thing I'm talking about. I don't know if this is proper. He goes, I can't right now. I'm in a voter registration job in Mississippi.
Talk to me in code. First time I talked to you, I gotta go. Right? Okay. I said, well, I'm calling you about over there, and he says, understand.
I said, I talked to a guy in the government who says it's possible for you to go over there. Understand. I said I said, if you're willing to do it, he's gonna talk to the big cheese today at 4 o'clock. Understand? I said, if the answer is yes, how soon can you go?
And can you go, can you leave tomorrow? And he says, I can't. I'm here doing voter registration because it was a Tuesday. But if you make this happen, I can go on Friday, and we can move on. That's what he says to me.
Right? Right?
Speaker 1: I miss people like this. Yeah.
Speaker 0: Yeah. And then I said and then he says, and you pull this off. I'm taking you with me. I didn't say it, but I'm thinking to myself, of course, I'm going with. Okay?
I'm putting this all together. Anyway, we got to go we I he did it. He was the the government went to Jackson. It's it is to Serbs what like Israel is to Jews, and they had lost this battle in the 14th, 13th 100 against the the Turks, the Ottoman Turks, 500 years of enslavement after that. Speaker 0: The president came in and made a judgment that these 1500 people of varying forms, some sentenced, some not, some had taken plea deals, some not, had had 48 months of their life turned upside down by a Department of Justice who wanted to try to make a example out of them, and the president of the United States said enough. And you know what? I agree. Because at the end of the day, 48 months later, many of them having been in jail for all or a lot of that time, many of them who had their doors broken down, many of them had FBI raids. I had 2 grandmas driving from Austin, Texas out into the Hill Country just a few months ago who were arrested and jailed overnight because they were physically present here at the capitol.
Not even inside to the best of my knowledge. I think they might have just crossed one of the bike lines. 3 years later, you arrest 2 grandmothers, put them in jail. Does anybody see what happens when you politicize the justice system? The scales of justice become something that you can't look at as blindfolded?
And again, why am I talking about this? Because today, the president righted the wrongs of those 21 individuals who were literally protesting the in their view, and I share that view, the murdering of the unborn children. I think that stuff matters. I think it matters a lot. Because had Joe Biden, had mayor Garland not politicized the Department of Justice, then maybe 20 or 30 cases of individuals who had done something that were particularly egregious, that were prosecuted, maybe those wouldn't have been pardoned.
I don't know. I haven't studied every case. But when you're looking at 1500 cases and all the people who are being abused, I think the president did the right thing and, again, differentiated between those with the commuted sentences. But meanwhile, what the president is doing besides, I think, trying to restore balance to the justice system is he's keeping his promises to secure our country. One of my colleagues over there said the first thing the president did was make us less safe.

But the thing is, I couldn't let the father of my children and my husband for years fight that battle alone. I know Rod, and I know his heart, and I know his intentions, and I know that he never intended to break any law or commit any crime. Rod was all about trying to make things better for people.
Speaker 13: When they talk about term limits for Illinois politicians, they don't mean how long they can serve in office. No. They mean the prison term that former governor Otto Kerner served for taking racetrack stocks in return for favors. Or the year and a half former governor Dan Walker served for a bank fraud after he left office. Or the six and a half years former governor George Ryan is now serving for selling off licenses and contracts.
Speaker 4: Illinois is probably the heavyweight champion of corruption in that sense. We've had five governors that have been indicted in this state.
Speaker 14: After years of ethics scandals and investigations, there was a man who ran on an anti corruption platform.
Speaker 4: Thank you. Thank you very much, mister chairman. As a native and lifelong resident of Chicago, I wanna welcome all the delegates and visitors to this most American of American cities.

Speaker 8: was a time in Chicago when Rod Volkowich was seen by the press as being skilled as a politician. And some of my first impressions of him were, yeah, just that he was really good at it. He had this really outsized likable personality, which was engaging for a lot of people.
Speaker 1: Here's this guy from the neighborhood come in, and I'm gonna take down these elites who've been in power for twenty six years, and we're gonna have a new day. Illinois and people are like, that's my guy.
Speaker 6: Rob Gojevich's history is very different from those Chicago Politicians that a lot of people have heard about. Came from nothing. Five room apartment, two flat, in Chicago on the Northwest Side.
Speaker 12: His dad was an immigrant from Serbia who worked in factories. His mom worked for for the CTA taking tickets. Rod in
Speaker 1: high school went to work on the Alaskan pipeline because that was the only way he could get through college and be there with all of what he would call the dilettantes.
Speaker 12: He knew the struggles of regular, solid, blue collar workers.
Speaker 6: He really did come from nobody and nowhere. And his only way to push for changes in how things are done was to meet people and to play the political game.
Speaker 12: I first met Rod at a fundraiser for my father. I had just broken up with a long term boyfriend on, like, on a Wednesday. Rather than feeling sorry for myself, I decided to go to my dad's fundraiser, which was on a Sunday. We were introduced by a mutual friend at that fundraiser, so my husband was literally like the rebound. His car was always getting broken into.
So we're in the car and there's no radio, and he was just singing the Elvis songs to me. I thought, you know, there might be something there. We ended up dating for a year and then were engaged for a year and then got married. And at that point, Rod was a young lawyer, but he always was interested in politics. I think when he was in fifth grade, he knew all the presidents backwards and forwards.
Speaker 1: Nobody really knew who he was back then beyond he married Patty Mow, who's Alderman Dick Mow's son-in-law.
Speaker 12: I have a long family history of politics here in Chicago.
Speaker 1: Dick Mehl is the Chicago political machine. Just loud, in your face, opinionated, and just at the center of everything.
Speaker 6: Dick Mehl was an alderman, which is a very powerful person in Chicago City Council. And he had this political army who helped him win elections and keep power.
Speaker 12: A couple years into our marriage, my dad needs a candidate for state representative. Rob had one question. Am I free to vote the way my conscience urges me to vote? My dad said, yeah. I don't care about that.
Speaker 1: These were elite politicians who control everything, and there were real consequences to either being a part of the machine or taking on the machine. But Rod recognized that was the only way he could get into politics and get things done. Rod was a guy that was very, very restless. He just wanted to shake things up, change things, but he didn't have any power. He was a state rep, very quickly gets bored and decides who wants to run for congress.
Speaker 2: The well financed democrat with powerful family ties.
Speaker 10: Rod, your father-in-law is a very powerful Chicago Alderman. You wouldn't be in this race if it weren't for Dick. No.
Speaker 7: Well, I think it's fair to say that he's certainly been a big help to me.
Speaker 1: Rod gets elected to Congress. What's the first thing he starts thinking about? Maybe I'd have run for governor. We felt like for Rod to be known as more than Dick Mehl's son-in-law, you gotta have a million dollars. We said, Rod, you get that, people will start taking you seriously.
He would go anywhere to raise money, and there were no limits back then. So he was raising 25,000, 50 thousand, hundred thousand at a time.
Speaker 12: One of the most expensive primaries the state
Speaker 2: of Illinois has seen. Mastering a huge campaign war chest.
Speaker 5: Had been in
Speaker 4: third place for a short time. Blagojevich already has $3,000,000. We'll get to second place. But more is needed. So we'll take PAC money.
We've been raising money. We play by the rules. Closing in slowly on first place,
Speaker 9: he had the most money to spend.
Speaker 1: And here, Rob Bogojevic learned the lesson that raising money equals power, and it changes everything.
Speaker 4: The next governor of the state of Illinois, Rob McGlavett.
Speaker 12: By all accounts, it was a pretty quick rise to power. 10 from the time he started in politics that he was governor of Illinois. It was crazy because I was only 38 years old when Rod won for governor. I was seven months pregnant with our second child. So it was a very hopeful time all my life.
Speaker 2: Governor, may God bless you.
Speaker 7: I wanna make clear that business is usual in Illinois state government is a thing of the past.
Speaker 14: There were
Speaker 1: two things that Rod liked. One was winning, and two was champion the big idea. He loved to be part of something innovative. He was a political entrepreneur.
Speaker 8: He was able to do some expansion of health care for children. He very famously offered elderly people free rides on public transportation.
Speaker 1: He passed a minimum wage hike, one of the first states to do that. He forced pharmacists to dispense birth control and not allow their veto just because of their political beliefs. We said, we're gonna tear down all the tolls. We're gonna do this open road tolling, and it cut commute time for everybody. And, of course, he couldn't help himself.
His name was on every one of those open roads. Rod Bogojevich, governor.
Speaker 12: We were doing the best we could for the people of Illinois, and the press was all very good at, you know, at that point.
Speaker 2: Charismatic populist with a possible White House future. Youngsters clamored for his autograph this morning.
Speaker 12: It was almost like you were like a rock star.
Speaker 2: The voters have overwhelmingly said they want a second term as governor. It's not a wonder what is he thinking of where he'll be going after this term is over.
Speaker 4: You ain't seen nothing yet.
Speaker 1: He's got this perfect pathway to the White House. But the problem with Rod Bogojevic, he had overlearned the lesson of how important raising money was, and he was willing to do just about anything to raise money.
Speaker 6: There was this real dichotomy in Rob Bogojevich as he got more powerful because Dick Nell didn't let Rob Bogojevich forget that he was a bit of a creation of Dick Nell. And Rob Begoyevich wanted to think of himself as Alexander Hamilton who came up, you know, out of absolutely nothing and made something of himself all on his own. Rob Begoyevich wanted to be independent, and the way to independence in politics is through money.
Speaker 1: Dick Mehl was the primary engine of raising money. So there was always this tension. He needed Dick, but he resented Dick at the same time. Somewhere along the line, Rod meets a couple of fundraising people, and they started working for him. Every campaign tries to push the envelope on campaign finance law.
These guys had torn up the envelope, and they just didn't care.
Speaker 8: They were going around seeking campaign contributions in exchange for things that Rod could do as governor, different contracts or different appointments.
Speaker 11: Blagojevich was steeped in a world in which seeking to make money off of your public position was not weird. I would imagine the types of exchanges didn't seem criminal even or weird to him. It seemed like what politicians do.
Speaker 1: And all of a sudden, Rod starts raising this big money and said, I don't need Dick anymore. And Dick gets left behind.
Speaker 12: From that point on, we were at odds with my father.
Speaker 7: When you have a situation where family's involved, there's a recipe for the politics being brought into the household. That's not healthy. That's not something I'd recommend to people.
Speaker 1: At a family dinner in 02/2004, Rod's political life starts to unravel. Dick is very, very resentful of Rod. He feels like you danced with the one who brought you to the dance. And Dick's the jilted suitor here.
Speaker 12: My mom was, of course, on my dad's side, and I'm, of course, on my husband's side, and it was very difficult.
Speaker 1: Right after dinner, Dick says this offhanded statement to a reporter. They're giving away board and committee assignments for $50,000 a piece. Boom. It's big headlines.
Speaker 12: My father then, of course, recanted, but things were forever gonna be different.
Speaker 1: That's not just bad press. They can see FBI's attention.
Speaker 14: The FBI starts an investigation with credible indication that perhaps a crime has occurred. We were out there pulling together records, and we had picked up clear information that Rod was being very blunt about trying to raise campaign dollars in exchange for things that we could do as the governor. So the next step was to get a court order to go up on Ralph Glitch's telephones, a wiretap.
Speaker 8: By that point, his inner circle are under investigation, and everybody knew it. If you know you're under investigation to the level that Rod was at that point, step number one is to take your phone and bury it in the backyard and stay off of it. And Rob Gojevich basically does the opposite. I think he felt like there's no way that his phones would ever be compromised. As a sitting governor, and that's really where he gets into the trouble is he continues to run his mouth like he always does.
At that stage, this was still an investigation about campaign contributions, but they started to hear, wait a minute. What's he doing with the senate seat? We need to let some of that run.
Speaker 6: When Barack Obama got elected president, Rob Bogojevich as governor was the only person who had the power to appoint Barack Obama's replacement in the senate. And he decided, essentially to start listening to everybody about what they could offer. And he started talking to some of his closest advisers and speculating and plotting how to exchange that decision for something for his benefit.
Speaker 5: I got some lady calling my aunt for Jesse Junior here a little while ago. We were approached to pay to play. But, you know, he'd raise me $500, an emissary came, and the other guy would raise a million if I made him a senator.
Speaker 8: The Jesse Jackson Junior camp and some of his supporters had come forward and offered to give campaign contributions in exchange for Jesse Jackson junior being appointed to the senate.
Speaker 6: There was talk of him deciding to, you know, hey. Maybe I can exchange this for somebody who Barack Obama wants replaced him.
Speaker 5: The phone was Valerie Jarrett? Yeah. We should get something for that, couldn't I? Yes. How about health and human services?
Can I get that? You and ambassador, I take that. How about India? India is vital. Yeah.
India is vital. I'd say India Is that realistic, or do we need to reject that? No. That's really. Is it?
I think so. No shit.
Speaker 6: They weren't sure what Rob Bogojevic was gonna do next, and the prosecutors felt that if they didn't move quickly, Rob Blagojevich could actually appoint somebody senator. And as soon as he appoints it, it happened.
Speaker 5: I told my nephew, Alex, he just turned 26 today. I said, Alex, you know, I called for his birthday. And I said, it's just too bad you're not four years older because I could've given you a US sentencing for your birthday. I mean, I I've got this thing, and it's fucking golden. And, I'm just not giving it up for fucking
Speaker 14: nothing. We had enough with recordings we obtained, with telephone records we had pulled, and we knew it was time to take the whole case down.
Speaker 12: That morning was like that scene from The Godfather where they're doing the baptism and all these people are getting murdered around them. They went to my brother-in-law. They went to Rod's chief of staff, and they just, like, hit everybody all at the same time.
Speaker 14: Dan, myself, and another agent, Kathy, approached the door. And we purposely picked Kathy because she had training in hostage negotiation. The Illinois State Police put a call into the governor's home.
Speaker 12: It was somebody saying, it's the FBI. We're at your door. Let us in. And I thought it was a joke, and I said, oh, who is this? And I hung up the phone.
Speaker 14: Call back.
Speaker 12: And they said, no. This is the FBI. We're downstairs. Come open the door. Otherwise, we'll bust it open.
Speaker 14: Patty's state was mostly irritated. I'd say very irritated.
Speaker 12: They brought a SWAT team. They bought brought hostage negotiators with them. I mean, what did they think? My husband was gonna hold his children hostage or I mean, it was the craziest thing.
Speaker 14: Rod was on the stairway, and one thing that struck me as peculiar that still told me that he wasn't totally grasping the situation is before we walked him down the stairs, he asked me how his hair looked.
Speaker 12: And they brought him downstairs, and the FBI agent said to me, well, we have to get going because the press isn't here yet.

Speaker 2: Today's headlines stunned a state accustomed to politicians in handcuffs. He's charged with racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion conspiracy, attempted extortion, and making false statements.

Speaker 10: When a media tour first started, people started saying he's nuts. He's crazy. Blago's crazy. And then they started saying, well, you know what? There's gotta be something to this because no man's gonna go around the country for a year and a half and claim his innocence.
And by the time we got to, trial, the polling showed fifty fifty. 50 people were coming in believing that he was guilty. 50 said, you know what? Maybe Blago's innocent. And so it gave me real confidence.
It gave my father real confidence to go into that trial with that strategy.
Speaker 2: The corruption trial of Rob Blagojevich opens this morning. Did you sleep well last night? Not great. You tend to forget that Blagojevich could spend years behind bars if he's convicted because he seems to have made such a mockery of the pretrial process.
Speaker 15: Judge James Zagle warned Blagojevich against making daily statements to the press and Twittering updates from the courtroom. He does have a following. And in the criminal context,

Speaker 8: Inside the US attorney's office, this was being handled by very experienced, very tough people. They're best of the best.
Speaker 15: In opening arguments, US attorney Kerry Hamilton included the senate seat in a series of alleged shakedowns establishing a trend. What about me? What's in it for me?
Speaker 8: The US government had such a complicated case that there was a lot of minutiae that the jury was asked to deal with.
Speaker 13: Trying to connect the dots between Blagojevich and a close inner circle
Speaker 2: with an alleged dispute. Pro quo rewarding friends.
Speaker 4: This trial is not expected to go by quickly.
Speaker 8: They were relying a lot on what was known as honest services, the legal expectation that an elected official owes the public governing free from corruption, and that that had been violated. The presentation of that was really kind of winding and complicated, and the jury probably didn't understand it.
Speaker 2: More of the same, the slow, tedious, but careful process.
Speaker 4: Today, a little boring.
Speaker 2: I think that's a fair word.
Speaker 8: So you had the US government coming in very kind of bookish, and what they wound up facing was really a street fight. You had Sam Adam junior coming from the world of the criminal court in Chicago, Twenty Sixth Street, where it's bare knuckle, and I think that caught the federal prosecutors off guard.
Speaker 15: In a loud rambling opening fit for the theater, defense attorney Sam Adam Junior mentioned Blagojevich's now famous hair.
Speaker 2: Sam Adam junior shouted at the jury.
Speaker 4: Waving his arm and pointing his fingers.
Speaker 2: Using a fire and brimstone approach said the governor was the victim.
Speaker 10: All of the articles said they're 20 Sixth Street Clowns. What we were trying to do is be regular. We gotta be regular. These are people who who get up in the morning, put on their pants one leg at a time, and go to work. They're not gonna see these technical laws and all that and think to them, oh, well, this one has a comma here.
This one has a semicolon. What does that mean? And so our entire defense was all of this was political horse trading. You may not like it. You may want to change it, but that's politics.
Speaker 14: There are a lot of other people that profited from this corruption. We actually used the evidence we gathered against them to help convince them to cooperate with us, but you just don't know what's gonna happen when you're in court.
Speaker 4: Line was a difficult to testify against.
Speaker 10: Their witness, Lon Monk, who was Rod's chief of staff, he said he was taking money himself. The US attorney asked him, so how much of that money did you give Rod? And he said, oh, I would never give Rod any money or tell him I took any money because that's not who Rod is. Right there. That's it.
If you are his best friend and you're taking money, but you refuse to give it to him, So what are we doing here? What are we talking about? He didn't get any money. Not 1 dime.
Speaker 5: Alright. But you understand, it's very important for me to make a lot of money. I need the independence. I I I need freedom. Okay?
And then I have a personal issue, which is I feel like I'm fucking my children. That's what I feel like. The whole world's passing me by. And Amy

Speaker 5: Amy's going to college in six years, and we can't afford it.
Speaker 17: They claim all these crimes, and not once has money exchanged.
Speaker 10: This is a little mystifying to me.
Speaker 8: Sam just pounded on that. If he's supposedly making all this money, where are the fancy cars? Where are the vacations? This guy can't even afford to send his kids to college. That's why he's, you know, complaining about needing money and trying to get a job running a charitable organization or something in exchange for the senate seat is because he doesn't have enough money.
So he's if he's a criminal, he's not very good at it.

Speaker 10: After five weeks of presenting testimony, prosecutors in the corruption trial of Rod Blagojevich have rested their case.
Speaker 4: A jury will decide if Illinois will send its second straight governor to prison.
Speaker 10: If convicted, he could face up to $6,000,000 in fines and a sentence of four hundred fifteen years in prison.
Speaker 1: Have you thought about what life would be like for you in prison if in fact you get convicted?
Speaker 7: I'm human. Of course, sometimes you get those moments. Planting at my little six year old sitting in the at her kindergarten graduation around the circle with her classmates and wondering whether or not I might not be able to see some of that as the years go on. But those are just little moments. I know what the truth is, and I'll be fully vindicated.

Speaker 4: Good evening. For two weeks, the fate of former Illinois governor Rob Lagojevich has been in the hands of six men and six women in a Chicago courthouse. Late today, the divided jury returned its verdict. Guilty on only one count in the corruption trial. Deadlocked on 23 other charges.
Speaker 2: Blagojevich was convicted of lying to federal agents, but the jury could not reach a verdict on 23 other corruption charges. Among them, attempting to sell the US Senate seat once held by President Obama.
Speaker 13: This is a stunning verdict, a major victory for Blagojevich, a stunning upset for federal prosecutors.
Speaker 2: I mean, I
Speaker 18: think there was a sense of overconfidence by the government, and the defense did a really good job of getting back to the simple concept, follow the money. And there wasn't a dime the prosecution showed went into Blagojevich's pocket. It was all talk. So, you know, is he a bad governor or a criminal?

Speaker 12: We were elated for the hung jury, but it was a very much of a sense of dread because you knew they were gonna come back at you again. They weren't gonna let it rest. They were coming right back.
Speaker 17: Going into a second trial, most people believe that we were going into a worse position because we knew that the government would clean up any errors that they made, and then we certainly had a much smaller team.
Speaker 10: The government got to know my father and I and the lawyer tricks, if you for lack of a better term, and how we were gonna present evidence. And so the best thing for Rod was to have the second in command, Aaron Goldstein, come in and step to the forefront.
Speaker 17: I decided to stay from the first trial to the second trial because I don't leave my clients. I don't believe in abandoning them, and that's just a fundamental belief of mine.
Speaker 2: Are you ready for round two?
Speaker 7: I waited a long time to get this indication that I deserve and that that I owe to the people of Illinois.
Speaker 4: With jury selection underway in Chicago, Chicago, Rod Blagojevich made his first appearance at a second federal corruption trial Thursday.
Speaker 9: Blagojevich says he is more optimistic than ever of a future not behind bars.
Speaker 17: The second trial changed a significant amount, and and one of the most significant changes was the prosecution really streamlined their case, and they focused primarily just on the recorded conversations. We didn't know necessarily that they were gonna do it that way. They just sort of sprung it on us from at day one.
Speaker 8: The government came out swinging. They recorded many hundreds of hours of his phone calls, and they were able to pick and choose because they're the ones trying to prove his guilt or not.
Speaker 5: Do they think I would just appoint Valerie Jarrett for nothing? Just to make him happy? Give this mother his senator him for nothing? Him.
Speaker 6: The judge was not letting in a whole bunch of other tapes that Rob Inglejevich felt were helpful to him.
Speaker 4: From the very beginning, I said play all the tapes. When was it that you've ever heard the guy

Speaker 4: saying play all the evidence?
Speaker 8: He felt hamstrung by not being able to present some of the calls which sound a lot more political. There are only so many conversations to sell the senate seat, and then there are 50 other times you're talking about a political deal. He thought that that would communicate to the jury that his intent was more the political deal versus something that was criminal.
Speaker 6: He was essentially put into a corner where the only way he was going to explain what he did was not wrong and was just politics, was to get on the stand. Here

Speaker 7: has been a long and very difficult journey for Patty, for our daughters Amy and Annie, and for me, of course. I've waited two and a half years to finally get a chance to get on the witness stand and and and tell the truth, and to, take as long as it takes to, answer every question as honestly and as fully as possible.
Speaker 6: He really felt like he could convince anybody in any room that he was who he says he was. He had been doing it for his entire time in politics, so he had that confidence. But the very first question Reid Schar asked him was, you're a convicted liar, aren't you? Which, of course, put Rob Bogojevic immediately on the defensive because he was indeed a convicted liar. Rob Bogojevic did his politician thing as best as he could.
But unlike talking to the press, he couldn't go on and on and on and answer whatever question he wanted to. Ryd Char was not going to take any BS. I knew a judge telling him, you have to answer that question. It became a very difficult situation for Puglaiyevich.
Speaker 8: You could be likable. You could kind of put yourself out there on television, but that only goes so far when a jury is actually looking at the details of the case. You can't literally talk your way out of everything. And that created moments where jurors were rolling their eyes. One lady, you know, told the tribune afterward that she was drawing pictures of her cats while he was testifying.
So it did not have the outcome that he wanted.
Speaker 4: Rod Blavojevich was clearly knocked off stride by prosecutors very aggressive questioning.
Speaker 2: His testimony yesterday, a little bit shaky.
Speaker 4: But his interrogation put a very big dent in the picture that Rod Blavojevic had painted of himself. Jurors in the corruption trial of ousted Illinois governor Rob Blagojevich told a judge they have reached a verdict on 18 of the 20 counts. The judge says the verdicts will be read Monday afternoon. The announcement came after nine days of deliberation. On his way to

Speaker 17: We got noticed that there was a verdict, and we walked in, and the media comes in, and we hear this verdict, then it just becomes a haze.
Speaker 2: After the long, unruly saga, the verdict is in, and it is guilty. 17 charges of corruption, including an effort to barter President Obama's old Senate seat.
Speaker 7: There's not much left to say other than, we wanna get home to our little girls and, and and and talk to them and explain things to them and and then try to sort things out.
Speaker 12: I think there was one man on the jury. It was all women. And, man, those women, without those tapes to be able to back up what he was saying, they just, you know, didn't buy it, and it was scary. It was a very scary moment. We felt that it was very clear that he was trying to make a trade for the senate seat.
Speaker 4: The jurors themselves said, we wanna send a message that political horse trading is one thing. But when one attempts to personally benefit from that horse trading, that's when, one crosses the line. Blagojevich now faces a sentencing hearing in August. He faces a maximum of three hundred years in prison.

This is a time for me to be strong for my children, be strong for Patty, and this is also a time for Patty and me to get home so we can explain to our kids, our babies Amy and Annie, what happened, what all this means, and where we're going from here. So we're gonna keep fighting.
Speaker 12: I think that was probably the first and only time in my life I actually thought I was gonna faint. You know, like when your knees, like, buckle.

Speaker 1: Did Rabin Gojevich do something wrong? Absolutely. But the fourteen year sentence was a huge miscarriage of justice. The press strategy horribly backfired because they just didn't antagonize this judge, and he decided he was gonna make an example of it.
Speaker 8: That same judge had handled a mob case where there was a mob flipper who had testified about killing a number of people and had gotten about eleven or twelve years based on that. Jesse Jackson junior actually worked a scheme to pocket campaign contributions and got two years. Here's Rob Gojovich who didn't pocket anything, and he's in prison till 2024. So is that fair?
Speaker 14: I've never been vengeful. I can count on maybe one or two fingers how many times I've actually wanted to see somebody sent off to be incarcerated for a extended period of time. I appreciate the fact that I caught the person and brought their activity to light, but I never took any great pleasure in seeing the hardships that it caused. But then again, Rob Bugewegas brought this upon himself.
Speaker 11: I think it's really wrong to diminish the significance involved with campaign finance violations. They're important restrictions that we have for really important public purposes. And when you violate those, you ought to be convicted, and you ought to be sentenced to the full extent of the law. If he didn't know what he was doing, he should have, and he doesn't deserve our sympathy.
Speaker 12: For me, my focus immediately became my children and making sure that they were not irreparably harmed by the this whole ordeal. And unfortunately, they were irreparably harmed by this whole ordeal. My children have scars that are so deep and that will last them their whole life. They were going to grow up without a father. Now there there's only one person whose hands our fate rests.
Speaker 6: Could there now be a presidential pardon spree?
Speaker 1: Today, the president said, I thought that he was treated unfairly. He shouldn't have been put in jail.
Speaker 12: It all comes down to the president of The United States. And what's the best way to get a message to him and his his staff and his people is to try to appear on places where they're paying attention to. So here now for an exclusive interview on the story of Patricia Blagojevich.

Speaker 17: It's ironic. It's strange. It's odd. No one expected Donald Trump to be president and then somehow have the power to to release Rob Bogojevic. But but life is strange, and I see this as a means to an end and the only means to an end.
Speaker 12: Sometimes the courts and these prosecutors get it wrong, and it takes a strong leader like president Trump to right those wrongs.
Speaker 1: I give Patty a lot of credit. I mean, here is, a loyal wife who's doing anything she can to get her husband and the father of her two daughters home. And so I good for you, Patty.
Speaker 12: This year, we'll be married twenty nine years. We've been separated the last seven, but I talk to him every night. He gets three hundred minutes of phone time a month. So that's, you know, ten minutes a day. I like the idea of him coming home and us being back in our house and just picking back up.
As long as we're all healthy, anything's possible. But who knows what the future holds?
Speaker 8: Rod Bogojevic could actually walk out of prison much sooner than we all think he could. But I don't expect the Bogojevic who comes out of there is gonna be any different than the one who went in. I think it would be a a huge circus deal, and he would definitely make the rounds and go on all the shows and talk about his time in prison. All those things, I think he'd be, you know, he's probably a personality that's perfect for right now in America.
Speaker 6: He'll want to restate his case yet again, and he'll wanna try to recreate his persona. So people don't think of him as the disgraced former governor, but just as a guy who got a raw deal from federal prosecutors.
Speaker 12: I always kinda joke that if he ever wants to go back into politics again, he'll have to do that with his second wife. No.
Speaker 18: Not the first wife.
Speaker 12: I think that part of our lives is over, and I think that he understands how you put your family in danger by going into politics. We were at the mercy of forces beyond our control.
Speaker 7: You sometimes have to take a deep breath and realize the blessings that you have. And, you know, I've been blessed with a wonderful wife. And
Speaker 9: Can you imagine ever being in politics again?

Speaker 0: It's very easy to know why I am being prosecuted and no one else is being charged or prosecuted. It's very easy. I called the FBI to report Bill Barr and Armstrong Williams. I have notes of every single meeting. One meeting can be about visa for someone, or another meeting can be about January 6 or RICO case.
I have a quote here that was like Barr believes the FBI will go to Trump house soon. And one thing that I heard a lot is like how they go to prevent America to have Trump again. One thing that I learned very fast and very in the beginning is like, Bill Barr is someone extremely important. And I remember the like, the biggest conversation they had at that point, it is like, what kind of charge that we can bring against Trump? And that's when Bill Barr, and I I will never forgot that, Bill Barr was like, we should bring a recall because it's a very difficult, type of charge to defend.
Armstrong has these powerful friends. He's friends with like Bill Barr, he's friends with Ben Carson, he's friend with the mayor of DC, and he has like all this list of powerful people and people like with a lot of money. I know they do some business together. All the time Armstrong needs something he calls Bilbar. Like can be for example approve a visa for someone, he calls Bilbar.
Or for example, do some kind of lobbying with, for example, Turkish Airlines, he calls Bilbar. Bilbar is like the person that we call to resolve any kind of problems or situations. And she present herself as, like, someone who's close to Armstrong, someone who's attorney. And all the time I was like, okay, it's just like one more meeting that we had. And then in these meetings, that's when I started to take notes and, like, try to keep everything that to prove that what's going on. One thing that I understood very well is like Bill Barr and Armstrong and all the politicians too, they're very focused like in how they go to stop Trump. And one thing that I heard a lot is like how they go to prevent America to have Trump again.
So in my views of politics, what I think it is, they probably realized very soon that if Trump runs again, he probably will won the election as he did. So in that point, they just wanna like prevent that. One of these meetings, for example, was launched in 03/15/20022. And this meeting was at Sinclair Broadcast. And this meeting was when I, like, started to learn more about, and about some guy called Jack Smith and about investigation, involving January 6.
I have a quote here that was like Barr believes the FBI will raise, and I put it in parenthesis, go, to Trump House soon. That's when it was like, I start to learn and to be sure about what they're doing. It was like they're planning and they create crimes and situations to go after everyone. So in this meeting was me, Armstrong, Sher Michael, and Bill Barr by phone, and they spoke about January 6 committee. They authorized the committee to investigate the events about January 6. We started, like, with some names. They also gave a lot of names here.
We have, like, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, Roddy Giuliani, Jeffrey Clark, Oath Keepers, Proud Boy people, Proud Boy group, Scott Perry, Jordan, a group called Stop They Steal, Brad, again, Haf Hafes Bergen, Seamus, Ruby Freeman, Patrice Cipolloni, Alex Jones, Nick Fuentz, and we have some target people, which is like the people they wanna target more. And there was like Stuart Rhodes and Roger Stone. And here I have a quote. It was like Bart and Cheney once folks at Roger Stone Road in Tarrio and Benin. And also in Kimberly Guilford who is close to Trump.
Armstrong goes on TV or he goes on social media or he goes over his Twitter account or ex account. And he claims he's Republican. He's this person who is like extremely patriotic. He love his country and everything. But at the same time, he was lunch meetings with Bill Barr to plan against Trump and against people involved in January 6.
Armstrong never never got caught for things that he does. He was inside of the Capitol Hill in January 6. And then I started to understand he's never caught for that because he's friend with the mayor of DC, he was friend with the chief of police of DC. I'm talking about people who went to jail. And these people, they have families, they have lives.
Some people like with cancer, I know a case like with cancer, the person got arrested and went to jail because of January 6. But at the same time those people are there because people like Armstrong was telling them to be there. Was telling them like no, it's completely fine if we be here. And when the things start to happen over there, Armstrong is like, no, we can go inside and let's just do this. So what kind of person does that with people?
