@stclairashley Might need Ed Bastian of @Delta to cough up numbers; how much $$ is Delta receiving per passenger from the US govt? How many are flying? Same with TSA; how much has this practice contributed to the increase in passenger numbers this year? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/delta-ceo-expects-holiday-travel-demand-to-set-record-for-the-company-211757194.html

JUST IN: Boeing offers condolences after a passenger was killed on a Boeing 777 plane, says their “thoughts” are with the passengers and crew. In total 30 people were injured and a 73-year-old British man was killed. The incident happened after the plane fell a whopping 6000 feet. “Suddenly the aircraft starts tilting up and there was shaking so I started bracing for what was happening, and very suddenly there was a very dramatic drop so everyone seated and not wearing seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling,” a passenger said. “Some people hit their heads on the baggage cabins overhead and dented it, they hit the places where lights and masks are and broke straight through it.”

NEW: New video emerges showing Delta flight 4819 flipping on the runway as it landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport. One survivor said they were all “hanging like bats” after the plane flipped over as all they had holding them in was their seatbelts. “It was just incredibly fast. There was a giant firewall down the side. I could actually feel the heat through the glass,” said passenger John Nelson. “Then we were going sideways. I'm not even sure how many times we tumbled, but we ended upside down.” “We released the seat belts. I kind of fell to the floor, which is now the ceiling, and helped the lady next to me get out of her seat belt.” All 80 people onboard survived. 18 people are injured.

NEW: Delta CEO says the flight crew on the plane that crashed in Toronto was "experienced" but has not yet said who was flying the plane. The statement comes as some unconfirmed reports claim the pilot was female. "There is one level of safety at Delta. All these pilots train for these conditions," said CEO Ed Bastian. "This is what we train for. We train for this continuously." The plane that crashed was a part of Delta's Endeavor Air subsidiary, which is known for showing off its female flight crews on TikTok.

✈️ The Delta/Endeavor plane that crashed was piloted by Kendal Swanson. A year ago, she was an instructor pilot for a small propellor aircraft. Recently licensed to co-pilot a small jet. Captain, who had a questionable record himself, may have erred trusting her to land the plane. It’s more an issue of experience than anything else here.

🚨BREAKING: Kendal Swanson, a 26-year-old woman, allegedly crashed a Delta flight upside down in Toronto, raising concerns about inexperienced pilots in major airlines, as pilots once needed 1,000 hours of rigorous flying. Swanson had only 250 hours of flight time, prompting questions about hiring practices.

Delta has just reported that the pilot on the Toronto flight was an experienced man, and that the first officer, a woman, is fully qualifed and had been flying professionally for a year. Delta will not release their names. These videos make you wonder. https://t.co/8Nry6itS2w

The pilot behind the dramatic Delta crash that flipped a plane upside down at Toronto Pearson Airport has been identified as 26-year-old First Officer Kendal Swanson. A Minnesota beauty pageant winner who completed her training just last April with under 1,500 flight hours. The more experienced captain, James Henneman, was handling communications as Swanson piloted during the crash.
