Speaker 0: Well, first of all, we've taken the we've taken responsibility very seriously. I've it's been one of my top priorities. And with regard to COVID and with regard to vaccines, that has been a top priority for us. And we have, we have a number of different ways that we address that. So first of all, we wanna make sure that if there's information that violates our policies, we came up with 10 different policies around COVID. Then if that's a violation of policies, then that's something that we'll remove. We removed over a 1000000 videos associated with COVID. But we also wanna make sure that we're raising up information that we think would be that come from trusted and authoritative sources. And, we've really been able to do that. Speaker 1: Is there any lessons though that you learned or lessons that you're still learning from the COVID era? Because I think a lot of people, they say YouTube's not doing enough. You know? How do you respond to that? Speaker 0: Yeah. I mean, I think well, first of all, we're always learning. I just just to be fair, like, we're always thinking about how can we do better. We're looking at the feedback and working with public health experts, across the board. And, you know, I think one of the big things for us is to continue to work with public health experts to understand, you know, what are the ways that we can partner with them to get their messages across. And I really believe that that is something that has really changed is the the is the evolution of bringing, you know, creators, musicians, experts talking about public health. We never would have seen that before the pandemic. But being able to get, creators and influencers to really be able to, work with public health to spread those messages has been very essential. Speaker 1: Have you talked to the Biden administration at all about vaccine hesitancy or or vaccine misinformation? Speaker 0: Well, we did a event actually with the Biden administration, including president Biden himself, with a number of, creators, Fauci as well. And we really saw that as an opportunity to be able to help and spread that in the information that was coming from the administration and coming from experts to, using creators in those channels to be able to distribute, authoritative, trusted information. Speaker 1: I wonder if there's anything that you see in, you know, the way that anti vaxxers behave on the platform. If there are any data or or insights there that could be helpful to people understanding where they're coming from. Speaker 0: I mean, we try to we try to understand what are the different ways that we can break through. So we talked about in this campaign that we did about getting back to the things that you love. We talked about we rep we had people that represented all different backgrounds. We had people like, one of them was actually featuring, her mom, talking about, like, how she was thinking about. So we what we really tried to do was get not just from the experts, but also people that, were not experts, but who were explaining, like, why did they take the vaccine? Why was that relevant for them? And what was their thought process? So and that's a place where I believe YouTube can really shine is having experts as well as, just regular creators and people give their opinions.

It might be hard right now, but how will we think about it in the future, and how can I make sure that YouTube is on the right side of history? Speaker 1: You guys have really gotten a lot better at stopping some of the abuse and misinformation. There's still some big stories that slipped through the cracks. And most recently, there was the video, plant called Plandemic that, you know, shot up shot up on YouTube. It was the video, as you're familiar, you know, that alleged that doctor Fauci had a role in spreading the virus and that masks don't, masks actually spread coronavirus and, all sorts of misinformation. So how did that video become one of the top trending videos on YouTube? Speaker 0: Yeah. Well, so we have definitely updated our policy many times, since, the COVID 19 crisis hit. I think we've implemented more than 10 different policies and it definitely is a policy violation. I can go through, to say, for example, the virus doesn't exist or that you can take any kind of unsubstantiated cures that have not been verified. And so pandemic was a video that was violative of our policies. We did remove it. But what happened is that there were a large number of people who reuploaded that video, and they tried a whole variety of different techniques, whether it was speeding it up, or slowing it down, or putting it in a frame, or changing it in a whole bunch of ways. And it just took some time for our systems to be able to catch that all. We use a combination of people and machines, and we were able to ultimately bring all of those copies down. But, there was a moment in time where, there was just a challenge in in our enforcement. But it was never an issue with policy. It always was a violation of our policies.
