The speakers discuss the importance of following the facts in a high-profile case. They mention concerns about bias and conflicts of interest, particularly regarding the funding of certain officials. They question the motives behind statements made by these officials and suggest that the case should be moved to a different jurisdiction for a fair judgment.

And I think, you know, it'd be hard to argue with the fact that that's that'd be the most important, most high profile case, and I've seen him up front and seen the lawlessness that he could do. Bruce, there you go. That's the number one issue to him. Speaker 1: Not a lawyer, but lawyers in my family. But listen. That in itself is a conflict of interest, and that should that right there should be shown that that's biasness. And, you know, really, real quick, I'm writing I'm actually in the middle of writing this cool op ed about where this money is coming from with Bragg, Laticia James, Fannie Willis that we have down here in Atlanta, out in, in California. I'm I'm actually following the money as you might say. You know, we talked about Source who's been funding, Laticia James and all these other ones. And you saw her to your point, Allison, how she literally campaigned, I wanna get Trump. I wanna get Trump. Only Trump. I'm like, what in the world is going on with this? Right. So so there's all types of conflicts of interest and appearance of impropriety as it relates to their statements as sworn elect the sworn officials to uphold the law. So that in itself should, first of all, strike all of this down, let alone move the venue to another jurisdiction that that somebody could actually judge this

Translation: The judge's lack of understanding about cash and secure accounts led to a frustrating court experience for the speaker. The subsequent criminal hearing was also disappointing.

Speaker 0: Understanding is that the judge in the case said, well, what happens if the 175,000,000 isn't there at the time it would be necessary to make that payment? And the Trump people said, oh, that would be in cash, sir. He said, but what if it's not worth the same amount of money? That would be in cash, sir. A 175,000,000 is a 175,000,000. Please tell me that didn't happen. Did that happen in that courtroom? They're laughing. So I guess the answer is yes. Speaker 1: Oh, you you have no idea. We had the money in a Charles Schwab money market account, and the judge legitimately said with a straight face with his little team, hey, I I don't think this is secure money because something could happen to the market and it could go below a 175,000,000. To tell you how hard it was for me to keep my face straight in that moment, Sean, you can't make it up. This case should have been in the commercial division. It had no business being in the civil division in front of a judge that today was trying to invalidate any bond and doesn't understand that cash is green. And when cash is held by Charles Schwab, they can't go trade it, they can't move it around. It's not a stock market, but he didn't understand basics. It was one of those moments that I truly didn't feel I could have after 11 weeks in front of this judge, but it just can't stop. He can't stop surprising me. Right. Speaker 0: By the way, Speaker 1: it was a disgrace to be honest. And then after that, I went to the criminal hearing, which is another disgrace.

Biden’s DOJ Wants Steve Bannon In Jail https://t.co/bzF18yUnqI

Video Transcript AI Summary
Biden's DOJ is pushing to imprison Steve Bannon for contempt related to the January 6th committee, similar to Peter Navarro. Navarro is fighting his sentence, claiming he's too notorious for interviews in prison. This political move raises questions about silencing voices like Bannon's before the November election. Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee plans to hold AG Garland in contempt for withholding Biden's interview tapes. Author Daniel Greenfield discusses fighting against the left in his book, "Domestic Enemies, The Founding Father's Fight Against the Left," emphasizing the need to confront leftist ideologies seeking total power and control.
Full Transcript
Speaker 0: Biden's DOJ is pushing hard today to lock up Steve Bannon, one of the biggest and most influential voices in the MAGA movement. Same as former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro, Bannon was likewise convicted of a contempt charge for not complying with the illicit January 6th congressional committee. And like Navarro, he's been fighting to stay out of prison after being sentenced back in October of 2022 to 4 months behind bars. Navarro is still fighting for his appeal. Now the Miami prison system is claiming that Navarro is just too notorious to allow anyone, even Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, to interview him while he's behind bars, something which the congressman is now having investigated because even literal mob bosses have conducted interviews from behind bars. So this is entirely political. Are they trying to do the same thing to Bannon right before November? Lock him up and shut him up? Biden's prosecutors were saying that since an appeals court upheld his conviction last week, that he is out of excuses and must be put away. What precedent does that send for? President Trump, who's facing his own contempt fight because of the unconstitutional gag order placed on him. See how all of this works. Navarro's behind bars. Bannon could be right there behind him, and then even maybe Trump. All while Eric Holder got barely a slap on the wrist for his contempt of congress, and all that talk of holding Hunter Biden in contempt for refusing to testify before congress has long fizzled out. The House Oversight Committee is now announcing their own contempt of congress vote for Biden's attorney general Merrick Garland, who is still refusing to hand over the audio tapes of special counsel Robert Hurst's interview with Joe Biden over the classified documents case. A markup for the resolution to hold Garland in contempt of court is scheduled for this Thursday. But unless we see Garland or Hunter or any other top Democrat rotting behind bars like Navarro is, not allowed to speak to anyone, then I really don't wanna hear about it. Republicans cry about double standards and then do absolutely nothing to fix it. Even worse, they keep funding these very entities which are weaponized against us. So how do we defeat the left? Well, our first guest tonight has a new book explaining just that. It's titled Domestic Enemies, The Founding Father's Fight Against the Left. Joining us now to discuss is the author of this book, Daniel Greenfield, a Shulman journalism fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Daniel, thanks for being here tonight. Speaker 1: Thank you. Speaker 0: So given the lawfare that we see on display, do do you think your new book comes at a very prescient time? Speaker 1: I think it's an important message. And one of the part of the message is exactly what you were discussing right now, which is that the founding fathers were not afraid to hit hard. They were not afraid to go after the left. George Washington becomes the only president, as far as I know, to lead troops in the field when the left tries one of its little revolutions. We impose something called the Alien and Sedition Act to criminalize foreign radicals backed by globalist governments coming to America to pursue radical fundamental transformation. Those are all things that would horrify and shock most Republicans, and yet the founding fathers found them to be useful tools when facing enemies from the left. Speaker 0: When it comes to the left, obviously, everyone has a different definition of exactly what they mean by the left. So for the purposes of your book, how do you define what the left is? Speaker 1: Well, the left rebrands. It constantly has new names. For a while, it was calling itself woke. Now we'll never use the term woke again because it became negative. But the law believes in a few very simple things. It believes that it has a destiny to seize control over all the machinery of government and overall society to impose equality. And this goes back, you know, I discuss in my book, really, the French Revolution, which in complete opposition to the American Revolution was based on enforcing total equality, and total equality also means total attorneys. So whatever the left calls itself at any given time, it wants this condition. It wants total power and total attorneys.

The legal system in America is undergoing a significant change, with the Left's attempts to prosecute Donald Trump and now Steve Bannon. It is crucial for Congress to prioritize defending against election interference and question the validity of the J6 committee's actions.

@RepMattGaetz - Rep. Matt Gaetz

We are watching the death of America’s legal system as we know it. The Left has not been able to deter Donald Trump with the prosecution in New York, and they are now trying to demoralize our movement by putting Steve Bannon behind bars. Congress must immediately advance its election interference defense and declare the actions of the J6 committee INVALID!

Video Transcript AI Summary
Congressman Matt Gaetz discusses the recent sentencing of Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress and expresses his frustration with what he perceives as a biased and unfair legal system. He argues that the current administration is using the legal system to target political opponents and interfere with elections. Gaetz suggests that action needs to be taken to protect individual liberties and restore the integrity of the justice system. He also emphasizes the importance of organizing, coordinating, and filling leadership positions within the Republican Party to bring about change. Gaetz believes that more people are aligning with conservative ideas and that it is crucial to fight for these principles.

Speaker 0: Today, a judge ordered Stephen k Bannon to report to prison on July 1st for a 4 month sentence for contempt of congress, which means he will be incarcerated for the duration of the election. Hard to imagine a better guest to react to all of that. So much to discuss. We're gonna have him on for 2 full segments. No monologue to open the show today because we don't have the time. Florida's very own firebrand, congressman Matt Gaetz. Welcome back to America First. Speaker 1: Well, thanks so much for having me, Seth. But we we are seeing something in our country right now that is the death of the legal system, the death of the justice system. And it's it's infuriating, and it's also very sad to me personally. I've given my life to the law. I've studied the law. I've practiced law. I've made law. And now to see, the world look at America not as a stable system of fairness, but as a system where if you challenge the regime, it will it will manufacture a basis to deprive you of your liberty. And let's think about what actually happened with Steve Bannon. Congress had a runaway committee. A committee established outside of even the resolution authorizing it. Because the resolution authorizing it demanded a minority ranking member chosen by the minority party like every other committee in the entire United States Congress. And yet this committee broke bad. It went rogue. And in doing so, engaged in the type of conduct that we we really haven't seen from other legislative bodies. Bannon had an obligation according to his lawyer, and keep in mind, Steven Bannon is not a lawyer. And his lawyer tells him that president Trump has raised executive privilege and as a matter of law, you cannot go testify, until the the judge or or some other tribunal releases you from that executive privilege obligation. And so this Speaker 0: Meaning let's just be let's make it clear for those who don't understand the law. Executive privilege because he worked for the president who enjoys executive privilege. Speaker 1: Great points that executive privilege was not a claim asserted by Steve Bannon. It was asserted by Donald Trump. Yeah. And it found Steve Bannon. And so in criminal law, there is a requirement in in any criminal law that you know you're breaking the law, that you have an intent to commit an illegal act. If you if you believe that you are allowing the legal process to answer a question that has never before been answered, then that's never a basis to go lock somebody up. And yet here, I think the timing is performative. And look, you know, there is a lot of groundswell right now for Trump. We're not seeing the polling numbers if you can believe it even getting better in some of these swing states. And even Bannon is one of the people we rely upon to marshal, intellectual energy, political energy, financial energy for the campaign. And so, you know, they they haven't been able to blame Donald Trump in any way despite these crazy efforts. And so now they're trying to deprive Trump of even access to the people like a Peter Navarro, like a Steven Bannon, maybe even like a Walt Nada, a a patriotic American who served in our marine corps who's now the subject of criminal process. You see, that that is how they're trying to use this. And I I believe that Congress ought to immediately step in and and define election interference as as a feature of criminal law. It's never been done before, so we've never had to write those laws before. But I think we actually have to go into the statutes and say, if you're using criminal law on this way against the candidate for federal office, you are engaged in election interference, and we have a federal basis to stop you from doing so. Speaker 0: We're talking to congressman Matt Gaetz, Florida's 1st congressional district representative at rep. Mattgateson twittergates.house.gov, author of Firebrand and the Firebrand podcast. So much to discuss, but but I I I gotta, you know, pull out a little bit, open the aperture here. This isn't about Steve. It's not even just about president Trump or election interference. Can we look at the broader phenomena when we have 3 associates of president Trump who have been charged in Wisconsin a few days ago? When we see what's happening to president Trump's lawyers, not just as valid, and when we see, for example, a 75 year old grandmother get a custodial sentence on Tuesday because she prayed at a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. Matt, this this is about anybody who disagrees with the Democrat party and their ideology. Is it not? Speaker 1: No. They have invested a tremendous amount of time and political resources into getting these Soros DAs in office, into having people who are involved in, you know, whether it's the election infrastructure, the judicial infrastructure, the prosecutorial infrastructure. They've seized those institutions and they have converted them from what what were at times vaulted institutions in American life to now just, very diminished tools of politics. And and the problem is if we just complain about it and don't take, you know, some some action to constrain that authority and constrain the, the real tyrannical approach that's been taken, then I fear like you say, we're all at risk of losing some degree of liberty. I mean, if they would've been successful getting Trump off the ballot, what they're really trying to do is attack your option in selecting your own leader. Speaker 0: Yeah. Speaker 1: And in getting Bannon off the board and behind bars, they're trying to make the intellectual apparatus, the people who are out there in the Republican executive committee knock on the doors, making the calls. They're trying to make those folks, I think, demoralized with with the incarceration of Bannon. But I think just like the phony felony prosecution in New York backfired, I actually think this is gonna backfire too. What do you think, sir? Speaker 0: Well, we'll talk about it in the next segment. We've got 30 seconds left here. Half a dozen of, the Republican senators have said, that's it. They're on strike. They're not gonna collaborate with the Democrats. They're not confirming any appointees for the next 5 months until the election. Should something like that happen under the leadership of Mike Johnson amongst the house? Speaker 1: Well, here's what I've recommended, that we we immediately advance our election interference defense, and that relates to the Trump prosecutions, the Bannon prosecutions, we immediately do that, that we, that we cure any perceived contempt of the congress by declaring the actions of the January 6th committee invalid. We can do that without the senate. We can do that without the white dust. We can do that right now to save Steve Bannon. And I have been communicating with the speaker about it. Speaker 0: Alright. We'll break that down in the next segment and then talk about, some other things that, we must dissect with the representative of Florida's 1st congressional district, Matt Gaetz. Follow him at rep Matt Gaetz, host of the Firebrand podcast, author of the book Firebrand gates.house.gov. Continue to push all of Speaker 2: these conspiracy theories. We heard today as Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, and others tried to suggest that the justice department or the president was behind the Matt Manhattan DA's prosecution. They understand how the court system works. They know that the federal system is completely separate and distinct from a local prosecutor's office like that in Manhattan. You know, Matt Gaetz, for for his own part, has all too much experience in the criminal justice system being the subject of a sex trafficking case. Speaker 0: Now I know you guys enjoy this kind of Teflon coated Kevlar immunity when you're talking on the floor of congress, but he wasn't there. He was on Anderson Cooper's show on CNN. Can't you just sue that scumbag into the ground, congressman Gaetz? Speaker 1: Listen. You we listen. We've seen the justice system so tortured. I don't I don't know if I wanna interact with it any more than necessary. I could tell you that, you know, Adam Schiff, saw Merrick Garland squirm when asked basic questions about whether or not he would produce his correspondence with Speaker 0: Oh, stop. Funny feelings. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. We have that clip absolutely sterling. I wanna play this right now, and then we will continue. Do you have that available, Eric? Hit it. Speaker 3: Communicating with these state and local prosecutions against Trump, you can clear it all up for us right now. Will the Department of Justice provide to the committee all documents, all correspondence between the department and Alvin Bragg's office and Fonnie Willesaw's office and Leticia James' office? Speaker 4: The offices you're referring to are independent offices of state Speaker 3: I get that. I get that. State? The question is whether or not you will provide all of your documents and correspondence. Speaker 4: Again, We do not control those offices. They make their Speaker 3: own decisions. Communicate with them, not whether you control them. Do you communicate with them, and will you provide those Speaker 4: You make a request. We'll refer it to our office of legislative affairs. But but, Speaker 2: I understand Speaker 0: I know he's not an impressive person. He's the meat puppet for the real attorney general, Lisa Monaco. But congressman Gaetz, why can't Merrick Garland answer the question about communications between DOJ and, Bragg's office in Manhattan? Speaker 1: It seems pretty straightforward. I guess that's why Adam Schiff was so hot under the collar wanting to criticize me because it's just basic questions. And Merrick Garland only feeds into people's concern about political capture at the justice department when he's so opaque about this. If if they were independent, he would have just said, look, mister Gates. They're independent offices. We haven't communicated with them. Whatever they've done, they've done of their own volition. If he'd have said that, we'd moved on to another question. But the fact that they you know what? There is an arrogance that they can sit there and provide these non responses. And you know where I think that arrogance comes from? The fact that we still fund them. Because they sit there and they give us these these nonsense responses, and then we just turn around and say, okay. Well, gosh. We didn't wanna shut the government down, so here's all the money you need, FBI, Speaker 0: So hang on. So stop it. This is fast. This is really important because you're the guy in in the trenches. We've been told by, you know, leadership, republican leader, oh, well, we can't, you know, just slice off, Jack Smith's budget or the DOJ FBI budget. We've got these omnibus continuing resolutions, and it's just impossible. So that's that's bravo Sierra, congressman. Speaker 1: Yeah. Why is that impossible? Are willing to shut down the entire government because you wanna continue with this activity that, like, 2 thirds of the country sees is just brazenly political, then that'll be on them. Can can you imagine how bad Joe Biden will look if people don't get their Social Security checks because he's so busy trying to jail his political opponents? Speaker 0: Yeah. Speaker 1: And you that's how you use leverage. But the problem is we have too many Republicans who are gutless, and that is why these primary elections are so important. We need fighters. We need people who, will will really see the problem for what it is. America is in a state of grave decline right now, and I take no joy in saying that. But we have to recognize it, and we have to reverse that decline. And I think it starts with trying to restore the article 3 courts and our justice system as something that is non biased, not something that is weaponized against people Joe Biden doesn't like. Speaker 0: Alright. So here's here's the big question. You know, you are one of the handful of fighters. You're talking to about 3 and a half million people, you know, much bigger than most TV shows. What what is your message to those who believe in America? What should they be doing for the next 5 months? Speaker 1: Well, there are more of us than there are of the America last people. That's the good news. And so we have to organize. We have to coordinate. Remember, it was Steve Bannon who said show up to your local Republican executive committee. If there's an empty position, fill it. If there's a leadership opportunity, run for it. We we have to do more than just complain. We asked you, we have to get back to seizing the institutions that used to be, really vaulted in America so that we can reconvert them to their original purpose of serving the nation, not not serving the whims of a dying regime. And if people do that, I I I do believe we will be on the march. You look at what's going on with working class people in the politics. We've mostly been talking policy. But if you just look at the polling right now, working class, African Americans, Hispanics, people of of all kinds are realigning around our ideas because they're tired of being embarrassed globally. They're tired of being in all these wars. They're tired of the borders being open, streets being unsafe, while Joe Biden tries to tell you that the 3rd grade teacher gets to pick the gender of your kid. Yeah. No nobody wants that world, and that's why people are coming our way. Speaker 0: Can we continue this discussion tomorrow night when I'm hosting for Rob Schmidt on Newsmax, congressman? Speaker 1: But, Seb, I the the only the the only hesitation is that I I love to watch you when you're the host on Newsmax. But let's do it. Let's do it. Let's kick off, let's kick off the 7 PM, but I I love, I love getting your take on on that network and many others because right now, there's not a lot of people that really get what we're facing. They think we can go back to the Marquis of Queensbury rules of engagement. And you and I know we need the fighters, and we need them on the front lines now in the battle of ideas. Speaker 0: Well, there's a slot open at 8 o'clock. I think maybe I should have a word with mister Ruddy in the meantime. Follow this man. Listen to his podcast. Get the book 5 brand and follow him at rep Matt Gates. And give me a follow well as well.

Appellate court grilling Letitia James. Can Letitia be criminally charged? https://t.co/ORLvVzNMSY

Judith Foehl, representing the New York Attorney General's Office, argues the defendants repeatedly violated the law. Defense questions if there's precedent for the Attorney General suing under Executive Law 6312 to overturn a private business deal between sophisticated partners. They highlight the alleged victim's ability and obligation to conduct due diligence, written disclaimers advising independent due diligence, and the subjective nature of property valuations. The defense also notes the alleged victim never complained about fraud or transactional losses. They claim cited cases always involve consumer protection or market protection. The defense adds there was little to no impact on the public marketplace.

Speaker 0: May it please the court, Judith Foehl for the New York Attorney General's Office. All of the defendants repeatedly violated Judith Foehl, Speaker 1: can you identify any previous case which the attorney general sued under Executive Law 6312 to upset a private business transaction that was between equally sophisticated partners where the supposed victim had the ability and legal obligation to discover the allegedly misrepresented matters by conducting its own due diligence where the supposed wrongdoer advised the supposed victim through written disclaimers to conduct its own due diligence and to draw its own conclusions where the alleged misrepresentation almost entirely concerned inherently subjective valuations of properties and businesses and where the victim never complained about any fraud in the transactional losses from it because I've gone through the cases which you've cited, and all of them always involve the consumer protection aspect. It involved protection of the market. Speaker 0: Several responses. And I want Speaker 1: to add to his question and little to no impact on the public marketplace. Speaker 0: Well, maybe I'll take that first

This is unconstitutional and unacceptable. We are prepared to uphold the law against these overreaches of authority. We've already acted when birthright citizenship and NIH funding were challenged, securing temporary restraining orders (TROs). We also acted when funding was paused for agencies, meals on wheels, veteran services and law enforcement grants, securing TROs. Letitia James is facing charges of mortgage fraud related to a federal HAMP loan. For over twenty years, she misrepresented her Brooklyn apartment building as a four-unit property on mortgage applications, despite it officially being five units. This discrepancy allowed her to secure more favorable loans, saving her significant money. Ironically, the same legal principles she used to prosecute others may now lead to her downfall. Additionally, records show that in 1983, she and her father took out a real estate loan together, listed as "husband and wife."

Additionally, Letitia James is about to be charged with mortgage fraud, a federal crime because it is a federal government HAMP loan. For over two decades, Letitia James repeatedly claimed her Brooklyn apartment building was a four-unit property on mortgage applications—despite official records proving it had five. This may seem a minor discrepancy, but misrepresenting the unit count enabled her to secure more favorable loans, including a 2011 Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) loan that saved her tens of thousands of dollars annually. Now, the same legal principles she used to prosecute others may be her downfall. But there’s more. According to New York City Department of Finance records, on May 20, 1983, Letitia James and her father, Robert James, took out a real estate loan from Kadilac Funding Ltd. for $30,300 as “husband and wife." For the record, Letitia James' mother is Nellie James.

The speaker highlights the irony of Leticia James, who prosecuted Trump for financial misstatements, now facing similar allegations. The Department of Justice has prosecuted individuals for falsely claiming a property as their principal residence to obtain loans. Applying James's own standards, the speaker suggests potential issues with her claims regarding her principal residence and marital status on loan forms. The speaker also mentions the Supreme Court's ruling in Thompson, requiring knowing false statements, not just misleading ones, for prosecution under sections like ten fourteen. The Trump administration has made shocking allegations against Leticia James, with the Federal Housing Finance Agency sending a criminal referral to the DOJ accusing her of mortgage fraud. Director Bill Pulte alleges James falsified records to meet lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms, citing a Virginia property claimed as her principal residence and a New York property misclassified to obtain a different type of loan.
Full Transcript
Speaker 0: Obviously, the irony is perfectly crushing. This is a person who prosecuted Trump for everything short of ripping a label off a mattress. And among the charges that were brought in New York in not just the civil, but the criminal case was making false or misleading statements to financial institutions. And one of these sections, section ten fourteen of of the federal code, is prosecuted. It took me about sixty seconds of a search to find cases that the Department of Justice brought against people who falsely claimed that property was their principal residence in order to get loans. So this is well tread areas for the the justice department. As for James, if if we applied Leticia James standard that she created, there'd be little question here. This seems pretty straightforward. What what the what the administration is saying is this was not her principal residence. In fact, as a New York elected official, she had to say that her principal residence was in New York. This was an out of state residence. But also, they claimed that in some of these forms, she actually states that her father is her husband in order to file as a married couple. So there's a lot of those questions. And as you know, the supreme court just stated earlier in March in a case called Thompson that they wanna see knowing false statements under sections like ten fourteen, not just misleading statements. These are misleading statements. Either it's your principal residence or it's not. It's not. Either you're married to your father or he's your father. So I they we can get a this can satisfy the Thompson standard. Speaker 1: Representing our respective states, stand up and enforce the rule of law. The president of These United States is not above the law. No matter how rich, powerful, or politically connected you are, everyone must play by the same rules. Please sue him for us. Oh, we're gonna definitely sue. We're gonna be a real pain in the ass. Speaker 2: And now the Trump justice department may be a pain in her you know what. The angle has obtained shocking allegations leveled by the Trump administration against New York attorney general Leticia James. The Federal Housing Finance Agency has sent a criminal referral to the DOJ accusing James of mortgage fraud. In a letter to attorney general Pam Bondi, director Bill Pulte says James appears to have falsified records in order to meet certain lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms. He cited a property in Virginia that she's allegedly claimed as her principal residence and a property in New York that she claimed as a four unit structure instead of the required, instead of a five, which Pulte says means she was able to get a different type.

Speaker 0: This is nothing more than a continuation of the president's desperate weaponization of our justice system. He is forcing federal law enforcement agencies to do his bidding, all because I did my job as the New York state attorney general. These charges are baseless, and the president's own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution at any cost. The president's actions are a grave violation of our constitutional order and have drawn sharp criticism from members of both parties. His decision to fire a United States Attorney who refused to bring charges against me and replace them with someone who is blindly loyal not to the law, but to the president is antithetical to the bedrock principles of our country. This is the time for leaders on both sides of the aisle to speak out against this blatant perversion of our system of justice. And I will continue to do my job.
